I am writing this review solely on the service I received from Dominic at Mark Mazda. I was shopping for a vehicle online from San Diego and came across almost exactly what I was looking for over in Scottsdale. After some back and forth texting I set an appointment. In the meantime, so I wouldn't waste a drive over there, I asked if they would take the vehicle to a friend's shop in Mesa to check it over for me. They did just that. My mechanic did find a thing or two of concern on the vehicle and that caused me to back away from the sale, but they remained professional and helpful throughout. I recently visited this location to purchase a Kia Sorento. The sales rep I spoke to was Thomas. He was friendly, and engaging. After test driving, we sat in his work area to present an offer. When he came back, he showed me what my trade in would be valued at. I was at a loss to find not only was my trade in valued $3K below Kelly blue book value, but add ons such as low jack and tinting were tacked on. I quickly let Thomas know the low value and added costs were insulting and I left. I have never had any luck with any Mark dealership. My family has experienced similar situations. Bought my car here & they offer 2 free oil changes, so I took it in for an oil change and I needed a new cabin air filter. So I said ok. When I got the bill, o noticed that they charged me $30 for labor to put the new filter In. Probably took them 2 to 3 seconds since they already had the compartment open. I pushed back on the cost to the service rep and he told me it was a hard to get to. That is a blatant lie. Super easy to change these out especially if you already had the old one out. Never going here for service. Don't let them fool you with their kindness and their videos. They are out to take your money. read more

Came here for an oil change and that's it. After the oil change was asked to pay over $100. Was told that it is an oil change package that came with a tire rotation and the multi point inspection none of which was requested. I had just purchased new tires last week and made sure that it was known and that I did not need a tire rotation, complete scam dealership as many of them are unfortunately. I'll try and keep this from getting too long. The CD player (which I never use) in my CX-9 had started constantly clicking. Like it was repeatedly trying to load. I brought it into Mark Mazda, and after looking at it, they determined that it was actually the DVD drive that holds the map disk that was clicking. I asked them if they could disconnect just the disk drive, to get the clicking to stop. They came back and said, "OK, all fixed. We disconnected the whole thing." They shut off the entire console display. I wanted the clicking to stop, but not if it meant no stereo and no back-up camera. So, I told them to reconnect it, and I'll just learn to live with the clicking. After another 90-minute wait, they come back and tell me that disconnecting the media unit has completely reset it, and it now will only display a message telling me to bring it to my local dealer. I reminded them that I DID bring it to the dealer. They are now telling me that the computer needs to read the DVD to reset, but it can't read (the clicking/loading sound), and they can't do anything more. They GRACIOUSLY offered to waive the $120 evaluation fee, and gave me the name of a shop who specializes in stereo unit repair. I reminded the service manager that the display worked perfectly fine when I came in, and I would just like them to fix what they broke, or pay for someone else to do it. He countered by saying that the unit was broken when I brought the car in, and in his view, nothing has changed. Tense words were exchanged. I'm currently waiting for the 3rd-party shop to repair the unit, for two weeks and $500-$800. I'm giving Mark Mazda two stars instead of one for a couple reasons. First, people tend to overlook one-star reviews as the rantings of a disgruntled Karen, and I really do hope others read this and find it helpful. Second, as I sat in their lounge for approximately 5 hours that day, I was pleased to find that Mark Mazda has a good snack & beverage selection available, and a strong Wi-Fi signal. Very happy! When I first arrived at Mark Mazda, I was greeted with this very kind voice saying "Hi!". This was Danni the receptionist manager. She was delightful and one of the most pleasant people I have encountered at any dealership so far. Her professionalism, friendliness and kindness are a 10/10!! I met Austin the first time, and he showed me a few vehicles to look at, and I found the CX-5 fit my needs. On the test drive he was knowledgeable, and friendly. Not over burdening or trying to make things up. He had genuine answers for my questions. Negotiation on price came up, and he did have the typical eye roll inducing car salesman demeaner. His youth makes him pretty easy to read and know when he is trying to xx you though. After deciding to purchase the CX-5, I came back to Mark Mazda again, I was greeted by one of the best most genuine people, Danni! Have I mentioned I thought she was great? and met Nathan. Now, Nathan is a great guy! Didn't try to xx me, and during and after the sale he remained helpful and made sure everything was going and had gone to my satisfaction. While my vehicle was being prepared for me taking delivery, I made myself familiar with the dealership and the people who are in different roles. I went to the parts department to look around, and I was greeted by Sadie. Sadie is a very kind and helpful member of this team and was eager to help me with my new vehicle or any questions I had. I met Zach who works in the Detail/Body part of the operation, and another great person to have met! He seems to be very passionate and caring for the vehicles he is working with and takes customer service to heart. Another 10/10!! While wandering around I heard the voice of thunder that made me flashback to my youth, and shiver thinking I forgot to clean my room. This voice came from a gentleman named "Carlos". At least this is what I was told. I didn't interact with him much, but Carlos has a smile that would let you know all was fine, and a voice that gave flashbacks to childhood groundings. He seems like a fantastic individual and another perfect person added to the Mark Mazda team. A solid 10/10, but I'm a tad frightened to go lower at this point. Then, his smile says it's all good. 10/10!! As many vehicles I have purchased this far in my life, the most dreaded person is.........FINANCE! My time was up, and I had to go talk to the finance guy. This guy is Brandan. Now, I can't remember any finance guy I've delt with, other than they have been train wrecks. Brandan is......A GOOD GUY! No, seriously, he was great to deal with! Friendly, professional, and just a genuine nice guy! NOW.....I do feel compelled to mention something I wasn't impressed with. I purchased a $30k car that to my surprise I discovered comes with no rear speakers, the 2024 CX30. Though I would be upset either way, to learn that a $30k car comes with no rear sound, but I specifically asked about the sound quality, it was my 1st question actually as it is a huge deal maker or breaker for me. Again, who makes a vehicle with no rear sound?! And charges $30k for it?! It's so bizarre and it sounds so awful, I'm horribly disappointed that this was not disclosed and that it doesn't seem that it will be rectified. Very upset to be in this situation. Worst sounding system everDo not buy a CX30 if you care about having quality sound in your vehicle. I will say that the sales manager has been kind, he doesn't seem to be willing to rectify the situation so it won't change my review as this should have been disclosed when I specifically asked about sound quality. I will also add that my sales guy Chip was also kind but ghosted me concerning this issue so I had to reach out to his supervisor which was very frustrating and disappointing. We found a used 2022 Tahoe they had for sale. We decided to drive out from California and make it a trip with some spring training baseball. The car was as described. It had 43,000 miles and had normal wear and tear. As expected and shown it had some scratches and a few small dents. We were about to walk in and make the deal but then I noticed some Bright Orange underneath the vehicle. When I looked underneath the entire under carriage was covered in rust. Shame on us for not really knowing about vehicles that have lived in the snow but this was something that was not shown or discussed as I worked with one of their salesman. I had him send a bunch of additional pictures but none were of the rust. I am posting to remind buyers of used cars to look over the entire vehicle before purchasing. Well, sadly I'm in the market for a new vehicle as my current vehicle is a lemon. I was interested in the Mazda3 and have researched it heavily by reading numerous online articles and watching YouTube videos. I was excited to finally get out to the dealership to test drive one. I was interested in the Mazda3 Premium AWD with gray exterior and black interior. I looked up the local inventory and noticed Mark Mazda had two in stock: one that was front wheel drive and the other which was all wheel drive. I live and Chandler and made the drive to Mark Mazda to see what they could do for me. Upon pulling into the dealership, I was immediately turned off as there were cars parked everywhere, not in parking spots and there was a vehicle sitting there with its trunk open. It's not a very good first impression upon pulling up...poor curb appeal. Upon walking into the dealership, I noticed a person sitting at the front desk who was looking down at her phone laughing at something. I stood there for awhile hoping someone would greet me or ask me if I was being helped. Nope! I even cleared my throat in hopes the lady at the desk would look up and see me but she was on her phone and whatever she was looking at must have been interesting...probably some TikTok videos or something, IDK. After standing in the "lobby" for a few minutes I noticed the car I was interested in was on the showroom floor, so I walked over and sat inside it. I was sitting inside it for a good 10 or 15 min, pointing out things to my friend, who was nice enough to accompany me. We sat there and watched several salespeople walk by, not one asked if we needed any help or had any questions. Upon exiting the vehicle I saw a salesperson staring at me from his desk and a bunch of other employees just standing around, leaning up against walls and talking amongst themselves. Not once did one person come over to me to ask if I needed help or anything, so we left. Pretty disappointing experience I must say. I went and test drove the vehicle at Berge Mazda and had a better experience. I wound up not liking the vehicle due to its cumbersome infotainment, its handling, and it's somewhat jerky transmission. If Mazda wants to compete with BMW, Mercedes, and Audi as an affordable premium brand, a dual clutch transmission is key for smoother and faster shifting. Also, their dealerships will actually have to help people when they walk in the door. read more

Please read before you ever step foot in Mark Mazda of Scottsdale. I have bought several vehicles in my life and have never seen such a dealership as unorganized and unresponsive as this one. I'll be leaving my reviews wherever I can so that hopefully, others won't have to waste their personal time at this dealership. I contacted the dealership originally regarding a Dodge 2500 that looked really nice online. When I got there to see it, it was in pretty rough shape. especially for a vehicle that they were asking over 30k for. It had a dent in the back bumper, cigarette burns in the headliner and large stains and I believe paint on the seats. The bed was pretty worn and had garbage, drill bits and other debris littered throughout it. The dealership didn't even clean out the previous owners personal belongings that were still in the cab. I decided to look at a couple of different trucks but the dealership couldn't find the keys to the 2 I had chosen and it was getting late so I left and said I would return the next day. Upon my arrival the next day, they had the wrong vehicle listed for me to see and had to fix the paper work so that it listed the correct vehicle. I then spent over two hours in the dealership as they messed up and restarted the paperwork 3 times. Meanwhile the Manager walks up and congratulates me on a purchasing a vehicle that I hadn't even started the application for. While I was in the dealership waiting for them to figure out the correct vehicle and paperwork, I got emails from another manager saying that he was available for any questions I may have on the original vehicle that I had seen the day before and wasn't even trying to buy. I responded but never heard anything back. After I left the dealership without purchasing anything, I received the same exact email from him but this time it listed the new vehicle that I was looking at. This dealership is completely disorganized and the two people I dealt with in management were not personable and barely even friendly. I felt like I was just another number to them. I only hope my bad experience will keep some from wasting their valuable time. This dealership definitely doesn't care about customer service and the management doesn't even show any personable care or value for its customers. If you do end up going there, I hope you wont have to deal with the management staff that I had to deal with and they find the keys and the correct vehicle that you are actually inquiring about. One last thing, check the paperwork and make sure your getting the vehicle you actually looked at. read more

While this dealership may have quality cars, poor communication and severe lack of responsiveness makes me question the overall business practices here. The poor communication has truly been an issue throughout my entire car buying process; something that should have been made even more simple due to the fact that I secured financing prior to engaging with this dealership. No one seems to communicate with one another on site, I was bounced around via telephone to my initial salesman (Edgar) and spoke to a number of other staff (Adam, Danielle, Blake, someone in service) I honestly lost count after awhile because the confusion and miscommunication was rampant. I would get robo-emails with no name, a general text where apparently anyone on staff can and does initiate conversation - and thats if you can ever get someone on the phone. I made an out-of-state purchase from this dealership on 24 May 2023. At first things were going well during negotiations and when the salesman (Edgar) was initially trying to secure a deal - communication was frequent and easily had. I had many questions that were answered; however, one of the "mandatory" packages (the Tint warranty) I was made to purchase gave me pause due to differing tint laws between Arizona and the state I reside. Nonetheless, I was informed that the warranty would be valid in my state and I would have no issues using it if and when needed. As predicted, I had to remove the original tint that came with the car for state inspection and registration purposes (out of state inspections are not valid); I thought, no issue since I have the tint warranty... WRONG? (Maybe?) - see that's the problem - I can't get a response from anyone at the dealership regarding this matter. I reached out to Sterling in financing (who generally has been the most responsive and helpful during my entire process) regarding this on 06 June 2023 and he informed me that he would check in with the service department about how to handle this on 12 June 2023. I didn't receive a response until I reached out again on 20 June 2023 on which he informed me that he would send my inquiry to a sales manager. I have yet to receive any communication from the sales team. I contacted the service department on 30 June 2023 and was informed that to the agent's knowledge sales handles these matters and that he believes that only the service department handles tinting at this particular dealer; this would present a problem for me as I reside in Maryland. The representative told me he would forward my message to the sales team and that I should expect a call back. I have yet to receive such returned contact. On 03 July 2023, I contacted General Sales Manager Blake Mahaffey to inquire how best to proceed with handling the tint warranty claim asking if it possible to be reimbursed for the tint work done here in my state or if it possible to be refunded the $799 for the tint warranty purchase if such reimbursement is not available. I again contacted the dealership on 06 July 2023 and was told no one was available to speak and that the only manager on duty was away at the moment and would get back to me. To date, I have had no returned contact from any representative here. Per my bank, the next step is to file a claim; take my advice and stay clear of Mark Mazda. Regarding a mandated package purchase, every other package has relevant documentation regarding the service paid for and how to utilize it e.g., LoJack, Key Replacement; however, their tint warranty has no documentation what so ever and is essentially a smoke screen for fraudulent charges. read more

Went to pick up the parts, sign saying credit card surcharge (no big deal); BUT then added $15 shipping (25% of price)! Shouldn't retail price be THE price? Charge retail price plus shipping? (I could have ordered online for less than retail if I wanted to pay shipping.) Can't really believe they tack on a fee over and above the retail price. Bought a new Mazda3 from Frank Cruckson there at Mark Mazda in Scottsdale. 11 months later the car kept draining the battery, leaving us stranded miles from home. After $500 in repair bills, we discovered that they had installed a hidden aftermarket tracking/security device. They denied the install and wouldn't pay the service bill. I google searched the device and confirmed that it is a common dealer add-on. Why wouldn't they admit it and help with the repair? read more

I visited Mark Mazda on Sept 17,2024 to look at new cars, mainly the CX 5 Signature. When I arrived, the person I had spoken to (Carlos )met me at the front door, and immediately 'turned me over' to a guy who hardly spoke any english, and had no idea how to answer the questions I had. There was a 'shimmy' issue with the first CX5, so they brought up a second one...same problem. On the second CX5 I drove, the guy who didn't speak english, just waved me into the car and said; you go...as in..take a drive without anyone else. I returned, and then waited for Carlos to come talk about these things, but after 15 minutes of no contact with anyone, I got up and left. I then went over to North Acura in Scottsdale and had a great experience buying a new vehicle. This was a total waste of time after I traveled from Flagstaff! If I could give zero stars I would. This place is not onlyhorrible to its potential customers, but they also lie. First came the nice guy Brandon who I spent about an hour with back in December. I test drove a CX-30, but they didn't have any in stock I liked and offered me an over $600 car payment so I left. I was then texted the other day by him that they had some more stock in, so I came over yesterday, drove it again, and then sat down to discuss price again. After removing the addendum extras they try to sneak in, (i.e. "high end" tint) & then offering me 7.49% financing for a credit score of over 800, I was ready to leave, but then after two visits to his boss, Adam, Adam himself finally came out. This is where it all went south. Adam, makes you feel like a piece of shit. Adam, wants you to know that Brandon's time should be spent on selling other people cars, instead of sitting with me for an hour and a half (when I said a few times I needed to go) to get through a deal. When I advised him, that's their job to sit with customers, Adam rudely got up from the desk and just left me there. Adam also lies - he told me I could not get my own financing. What?? He obviously thinks women are stupid. Adam, you're not going to get customers that way. Aggressive and shaming negotiation tactics went out a long time ago. I've done business with Toyota & Subaru and never had an issue like this - it always went smoothly and I got great deals. We sent several emails to Brandon asking him a lot of questions and he answered all of them assuring us that the Costco price had no surprises or dealer add-ons. When we arrived at the dealership we met Brandon and after some paperwork took the vehicle out for a test drive. Then continued with the purchase of the vehicle. After we finished up some more paperwork, Brandon escorted us to the finance person, Sterling, where we completed the purchase, financing and extended warranty.
