Found JDs on Yelp and picked them based on reviews and so glad I did. I needed a second opinion on repairs the dealership said were critical for my car. The dealership told me I needed $30k in repairs on my 2019 car and sure enough the guys at JD said the dealership was full of it. They tell you exactly what is wrong with your car. They have never tried to get me to do repairs that I don't need like many other shops. They are the best!! I am able to schedule an appointment in a reasonable time and they always communicate during the service. I can tell they want what's best and to take care of you (which really matters!!) If there were more stars, this shop would get them. Jeff is friendly, responsive, and truly genuine in his repair assessment. JD's has handled a few needs so far, with only one event generating a bill. The shop even made a correction to prior work done (from another vendor) and never charged for the activity. Appears to me, this shop is focused on building a business of sound assessments and fair pricing, not the price gouging that is common to the area. I would certainly take those comments of 12/2/22, and especially that of 3/8/23, with a grain of salt. I had a similar event take place, and around Diane N's noted time, where one of my vehicles suffered head gasket failure. Since I am not the professional, I took it to one, and he confirmed my suspicions. No nefarious plots to relieve me of my vehicle, just the straight up answers I was looking for. He even gave me a couple of days to store there, so I could assess my next steps. I will continue with JD's, and update here again, hopefully with another positive review. read more

Great mechanic shop located in Scottsdale. I've been here 3 times now, all for different reasons, and they have provided 5 star service every time. All 3 times they have been able to accommodate me with same-day appointments, so that's a huge plus as well. Oil change: I called to get a quote over the phone and they requested the make, model, and year of my car for an accurate estimate. The whole process took about 45 minutes and I was good to go. The price I paid was actually less than the quote because they waived the service fee! So I was pleasantly surprised. They also reset my oil life meter so they really took care of everything. Headlight replacement: Shortly after my oil change, 1 headlight went bad and I knew where to go. I called ahead of time and they confirmed they had the right headlight. My car was already on file with them, so they were able to look it up which made for a short conversation. The process took about 30 minutes and my headlight was working again. TPMS and engine light turned on: Title says it all. I called and they confirmed that they had time to check it out. Thankfully, my engine was working perfectly but the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. They gave me a quote and said it's not dire to the health of my car, but I would need to replace it to pass a smog test. As for the tire pressure light, they said there was nothing wrong with my tire pressure but the meters went bad. He gave me a quote to replace them but also said they are not required. I appreciated his honesty because most auto shops will lie and say things need to get done ASAP but that's not the case here. He also did not charge me for the diagnostic test and printed out the quotes for me to reference whenever I decide to replace those items. I'm very happy to have found my go-to mechanic for all of my car services. They are honest and reasonably priced with amazing customer service and work. read more

I called JD'S on a Wednesday, concerned about my breaks. Jeff, at the desk, was extremely helpful and correctly diagnosed that it was my rotors. I was given several options as to what route I could take and I decided on new rotors. The following Monday I had new rotors! I was extremely happy with the service at JD'S and they are now my go-to car guys. I will add that when I called my dealer ship with the same "brake" concern, they said they needed 6-7 days to analyze the issue. JD'S had it figured out in 37 minutes. Thanks JD et al! read more

When a BMW starts leaking coolant and oil, the thought of going to a dealership is terrifying so I called numerous repair shops and without seeing the car, these guys had a pretty good idea of what it might need and their price was lower than the others. They found more than what I had hoped but I still walked out of there with a repaired vehicle and paid less than what they told me it might run. Nothing better than honesty and integrity. I had a worsening problem with my Ford Expedition not wanting to shift out of park. I was out in Chandler when it just stopped shifting and wouldn't move. Ugh, thats just the worst!! So eventually after fooling around with it, it shifted into drive! Yesss!! So I had been taking it to Sundevil Auto in Scottsdale and the location in Chandler was close by so I went over there. I pulled in and turned it off to go inside. I told the guy what it was doing and asked if he could look at it. I had a couple of hours and I could wait for it but the guy refused to look at it unless I could leave it for the entire next day, indefinitely, really. He said he had nobody to look at it that day and couldn't guarantee he could have someone look at it the next day either. Great. He said it could be the transmission, the gear box...several big ticket $$$ and time consuming problems. Yeah, thanks Sundevil. So I walked back out to the truck ***praying*** it would start. Yeah, fired right up and bang, shifted into drive! Thank you to the car Gods! I drove around until it was time to pick up the kids. At the last stop, yup, it refused to go into drive again. I called a tow truck and waited, you know that always takes at least an hour waiting for a hook. After about 30 minutes of turning it on & off into drive, it finally shifted! YESSSSS! Cancel the hook, drove back to Scottsdale. I took it into Sundevil and they were a bit more caring since I'd been there before, but they couldn't promise me anything either. After dropping it there, I had a deep case of the regrets. Don't you hate that? So I started looking around on Yelp for a 5* mechanic. I was surprised to find JD's almost next door to Sundevil. I had a really pleasant phone conversation with JD and he said he would be happy to look it over if I wanted him to. Obviously he couldn't promise anything either, except an honest second opinion. Well, surprisingly Sundevil called back just shortly after and said it was some worn out brake sensor. I called JD back and thanked him for his offer. Yes, I'm going to get to my point. Today, Monday morning, I had to drive out to Scottsdale from Chandler and I was wondering if JD could take the Ford for an oil change. Its really the best way to check a new mechanic & shop out, right? He could fit me in at 2 today, perfect! I got there, told him about a couple little things that were possible concerns and he said he could look. We were gone about an hour, and he was just finishing. He checked my tps sensors cuz the trouble light was having an issue on the fwy, he changed my burned out passenger turn signal bulb ((for free)), cleaned my K&N cold air filter, rotated my tires, told me about my brake pad percentage and charged me $35.30. That is a damned good deal. I was grateful for his opinion on tires and my tps sensors. It's important to have a good, trustworthy mechanic. And I'm thinking I made a good choice to drive across the parking lot away from Sunde. Wouldn't you rather see a mechanic that has 5*, someone who owns their own small business than a large chain that really has a shoddy yelp rating? And the dissatisfied, unhappy customer is more likely to write the bad yelp review than the consistently happy one, right? So, if it ever changes that I'm not happy then I'll change this review, but I really hope it never does. Its worth the drive from Chandler to Scottsdale to find a classy, honest, knowledgable, friendly mechanic with clean hands. Thanks guys! read more
