This dealership is the definition of shady and dishonest. They use illegal deceptive sales practices to force their clients to pay more. I leased a car through this dealership. They added a ceramic protection onto the sale for $995 and told me that it couldn't be removed and that I had to pay for it. Roughly 18 months later after many issues with the vehicle, BMW agreed to a buyback for the full retail price minus the $995 for the ceramic coating, telling me to get that refund from the dealership. The dealership gave me the run around and has not been willing to make wrong their deceptive sales tactics or give a good will refund since the vehicle was repurchased by BMW. I am so glad that I found Mini North Scottsdale to do all future business with. The customer service in Scottsdale is 5 star and it's mind blowing how two different dealerships can run a totally different business. Make sure you look at your contract and if they try to add any dealer add ons, make sure you state your rights and make them take those fees off of your deal. Do not buy a used Cooper here. I bought a Cooper here barely over 2yrs ago. Asked for the CarFax, was shown a minimal report and convinced it was in a very minor bumper incident, assured GAP insurance would unlikely be necessary when in fact the car bounced around hitting nearly every side. Began having issues within a week. They repaired a couple of small things and was instructed "No More". This car has fell apart, one issue after another. Broken motor mounts. AC went out. Brake light & fog light assembly issues. The dash is lit up like a Christmas tree..... and I was so very excited to finally have a Mini. It's now cheaper for me to take the credit hit and give it back than make the repairs. read more

I would not buy from here, especially if it's a different brand. I tried to buy a used car that was a different brand a couple weeks ago. When I asked questions about the factory warranty, the salesman kept saying he didn't know anything about that brand because that's not where he works. Even the finance lady kept saying that. If you can't answer questions about the car you're selling then don't sell that brand! He told us we would need to contact the brand to make sure the warranty was transferred. Then when looking at the Carfax, I noticed the oil wasn't changed for 8 months. So I asked if they can change the oil and the salesman was arguing against it over and over until finally he agreed to ask his manager and they said they would accommodate it but I would need to make an appointment because the mechanic wasn't there that day on a Saturday. I looked up the service hours and they are open Saturdays. Then that made me think if they didn't bother to change the oil then what else did they not change/update, they didn't show me the inspection report. The salesman finally did a google search to look up the factory warranty and said we would have 5 years factory warranty, and mentioned 3 times that we should not need an extended warranty because of that. Once I got to the final step and spoke with the finance lady, she mentioned I only had 2 years factory warranty after she reviewed the Carfax and said because of that we would need the extended warranty. I had to call Kia myself to confirm my actual warranty, they didn't offer to help out and call themselves and the salesman had copies of the Carfax and didn't bother to check the warranty after asking him more than 5 times about it. So he kept telling us that we don't need an extended warranty over and over without even knowing for a fact and didn't bother reviewing the Carfax. If they are selling a brand that isn't there's, they should do their research before selling the car. I didn't get the best customer service; they lied and couldn't do some basic research about the car before selling it. The car was also dirty and the tires and rims looked like they didn't wash it in a while. They clearly did not care for this car since it's not their brand. I don't know how many times I heard "this isn't our brand, I don't know". There were so many red flags and I would not trust buying a car from them. We were planning on going back to look at another car there for another family member too, but not anymore. read more

If you want an honest dealership choose another one. I have always bought minis ever since my second car. Spent at least 120k on them so far just on a new car purchases. The service team is not honest. They claimed multiple times that my brakes were installed wrong. Come to find out after multiple visits it randomly was fine. Then my car hit a rock and I called to validate they would look at my vehicle. I arrived and they refused to take it. Car ended up being totaled out. I wouldn't buy another mini due to the service department. Previous visit my radio stopped working after they worked on the car. They claimed I brought it in broken because everybody drives in silence and doesn't use a radio in 2025. They wanted 250 to reset the battery. I took the car home and reseated the battery myself and it came back. They just lost out on a 40k plus sale due to this. I miss my mini but I don't miss their service department. read more

I would not take my car there for service nor would I buy a Mini Cooper again. This is my second Mini and I loved my car in the beginning. But now after replacing the brakes for the 3rd time with just 41,000 miles on my car I would not. I was told this is "normal" for a Mini. I have looked at online forums and done my research and this is not normal. I don't drive like a crazy person, I don't hard brake. If I was told when I bought the car that I would have to replace my brakes every 12,000 miles or about once a year I would not have bought the car. I think that is consumer fraud. My last service issue with them is you can't ever get a service advisor on the phone, they never call you back and the service manager wont' call back. Poor customer service. read more

I've visited this location about twice now for standard service, I usually visit the North Scottsdale Mini location however I've found the TEMPE location is a tad more convenient for me. The last oil change I received I was contacted half way through the service to be aware that my "coolant tank is leaking coolant" by Doug O'Donnell, and if I wanted to have that fixed. I accepted and then they finished the service. The next morning i picked up my car, got in and my check engine light was still on. As I was on my way to work I wasn't able to go in and let them know but figured I would call later in the day. I ended up getting a survey later in the day so I sent it back with the contents containing my frustrations. I had a scheduled oil change for this morning with Doug O'Donnell, upon entering I sensed a bit of an attitude from him. I don't know if he recognized my name with the survey that I had taken months back and decided to retaliate with an attitude or what but it was not welcoming. He was looking over my account and said "you don't need an oil change, it's been too soon" I said "well my check engine light is still on, so I'd like that looked at and it's more cost effective to pay for the oil change and have them tell me the car issue rather than pay the diagnostic fee" he said "we only do multi point checks with oil changes we won't be able to tell you why the check engine light is on with that" I had then let him know how for every oil change I received at the North Scottsdale MINI I would receive a call if I had any serious issues with my car that needed immediate attention or at minimum a print out of suggested services. I have multiple copies of them in my glove box STILL. Doug just stated "I'm shocked that they would do that" I don't understand what's so shocking, a dealership performing service on my car and will be checking my car anyway- let's me know what all is wrong with my car and then I pay more money for the additional service on top of the oil change! THATS shocking? sounds like good business practice if you ask me! I know every dealership isn't the same however I now know I will not be returning to this location. read more

It was close to a miracle... Took my Clubman "Banksy" in for service and mentioned that the a/c seemed to be underperforming. Diagnosis was a blockage in the condenser, not covered by warranty. The repair was going to cost north of 1400. Banksy is only 40,100 Miles young so I called MINI USA. I should add that this is my 4th MINI. The next day, the service manager, Efrain, called with a plan to fix my car for a LOT less money because MINI USA was picking up some of the cost. Efrain and my awesome service advisor, Victor Tellez, are two outstanding individuals who show that they sincerely care about the customer! read more

Doug O'Donnell in the service department has been incredible since purchasing my car. He has made the process of keeping up with maintenance and doing some upgrades very easy and fun. I will continue to have all service/repairs done through him and find myself looking forward to whatever the next thing I am having done through the service department. It's kinda funny to think that oil changes and other tweaks and adjustments get me excited but it really is because of how well Doug has taken care of me each time. He also drives the same color Cooper S so he's got pretty good taste... Overall I would give this location more than 5 stars if I could. From purchase to service it has been a wonderful experience. If I could go below a one I would. Now, for those that read any of my reviews. You understand I am fair, I come from nothing so I appreciate everything. When its good...the reviews are fairly easy. When they are bad, it is even easier because you would have to do some pretty low, anti=communal, ant-neighbor and selfish things. Am I right or am I right? These days, customer service is at an all time low. Empathy may as well be a smoothie you can buy cuz if you think you are getting any at this place called MINI of Tempe and deal with the manager Sean. To help you understand why they are getting such a low score is really simple. Some people are not moved by sales and marketing to buy the latest update for a phone, video game, shoes...whatever. These are the people that drive classic cars and have cool comic book collections. They do their best to take care of what they have. This could be to save money and/or appreciate and make what they have last as long as it serves its purpose. Does that make sense? So. When the world got shut down. We had no need to drive since we both worked from home. Having two cars...one a mini and the other a mid sized sedan. We basically drove the sedan. The mini would come out on nice days for the top down...no problems. Well we upgraded the house, the yard, etc and decided to upgrade the mini because its an older one (our second, the first was actually newer) and its paid off. (KEYNOTE: we dont do debt like most folks. Everything gets paid off) Back to the story... we decide to get a new top, go to a great shop in Mesa and they tell us we need a simple part for the top. My wife goes to MINI of Tempe to place an order. The tech, gets to touching inside and breaks a part but says (paraphrase) dont worry about it. Well, my wife did not worry because it was a small plastic piece. We parked the car...since delays are a part of what is happening in our country, and that was a few months. We take the car to the shop, excited to get the top done finally. And they tell us it is broken, and they cannot get it open. I dont want to go into the he say she say at this point. So I will make it short cuz I really dislike even thinking of what comes next. My wife has been there twice. Each time she is being told things break...buy a new car...its old they dont make parts... etc But what has me writing this long review instead of doing something constructive, is because the manager Sean is a reflection of the worst part of our business society, especially sales. As a professional myself, I was thrown back by his callous, selfish, new American attitude. He stated to my wife in a matter of words he did not care if she told everyone how bad the customer service and his attitude was because it did not affect his pocket book. He stated, I dont own this place? what? Taking ownership is the foundation of quality and professionalism. So, not only will we not go back there. We will never, ever, drive a BMW nor a MINI Cooper with their snotty sales managers and sales folks...the old image of them as a better than you brand is clear. Thank you for reading this. I really want to like this place but they have failed me twice in a row and they will not get another chance. Both times I went to their "service" department and was disappointed. Both times I left a message for the manager to call me back and each time my call was ignored. This time I actually took a day off work to bring my car there only to find out after getting all the way home that they cant do what I was scheduled to have done. They gave me some bs response which was not accurate according to LoJack. I don't want to forget that the "service" guy who checked me in was dismissive and rude when I was checking in. Thanks for showing me what you have to offer I will take ALL of my MINI Cooper service and purchasing needs to MINI of Scottsdale from now on. I have learned my lesson. read more

Efrin, the Service Manager, was a rockstar and went well above and beyond reasonable help to solve our problem. He definitely took a great deal of interest in our Cooper to ensure we minimized damage and get it back to us in tip top shape. He even helped us get the best rate on a tow to the shop. To say we were taken care of would be an understatement. Also, Victor has been tremendously helpful and provided unbiased and up-front advice during each service visit. The "family" atmosphere is easy to see with the employees but surprising to experience as a customer at an auto dealership. To feel more at-ease when Mini recommends service just understand that it's what the car is asking for, not add-on up-sells. This is what happens when both Mini Cooper dealerships are owned by the same people, Penske Auto Group. They provide not just bad service but no service at all. I have called three times and left a message for Victor who they say is a service advisor but so far not even the decency to call back. Gosh I wish there was a Mini dealer near by that was not owned by Penske. Be very careful buying an auto from these folks as they just get worse and worse. I scheduled service for my car, with need of a courtesy vehicle because I had to get back to work. I get to the Mini of Tempe dealership at the time the person I spoke to at the dealership and I agreed to have a courtesy car ready and apparently there were no vehicles left. The other service technician gave a lady right in front of me the last vehicle. I had to leave work, drive 25 minutes there and then 25 minutes back to my job without a mini car or being able to get my car serviced. Then when I got there they asked me when I could come back or if I could just wait for my car to get done or for them to figure out how to get me a car. This is unacceptable. read more

There are things that Mini of Tempe needs to learn about consumer service. Today I dropped off my Mini Cooper S for a scheduled recall maintenance appointment. I was given an Avis rental Honda Civic instead of the Mini Loaner car I was accustom to. My service repressive (who I love on most occasions), called to say my car was ready, I grabbed my daughter and headed that way, only stopping to refill the gas tank of the rental. When I arrived at Mini of Tempe, the service department was closed. I was told by a sales associate that I would have to come back tomorrow (which in my case was not possible, I would have to wait until next Monday, which was unacceptable). That's when I asked to speak to someone else, which ended up being the more ignorant unprofessional Sales Manager, John, who again told me it was impossible to get my car back. Apparently, just having a car was enough for John and it was okay for me to have to drive another 45 minutes back home without my car only to not have my car for another week. I think not. You see John, I believe that you are wrong when you said, "It's not my job." John, you are a representative of Mini and of Mini of Tempe. You are the Sales Manager. I realize that you are not my service Manager, which means that you are not in service. However, Sales... which brings me to why I bought a Mini. I bought a Mini because of the service, repetition, and product. I did not buy the Mini because of Dave's (my Salesman, who too has always been great) sales pitch, I bought the Mini because every time I bring in my car for service it would be washed, every time my Mini needs service I would have a loaner Mini to drive, German engineering, hassle free car. So John, please remember the sale does not stop with the sale, it is what happens after the sale is why you have the sale to begin with. Remember, as a Representative of Mini, it is your job. As great as Dave was when I bought the car, my brother sold me on Mini, and it was when Dave and Sergio introduced me to Doug that closed it for me. read more

Wow, this place got bashed by others. Everything that we experienced was great. I had no appointment and stopped by on a Thursday morning. Our Service Consultant, Derrick, explained that they were busy, but that he would help as best he could. That he did. We needed some warranty work done and Derrick wrote us up right away. We were lucky enough to get a MINI loaner, without notice mind you. When the work was finished, the following day, I received a courtesy call from Derrick. Due to work I was unable to pick up my car until the next day, which was no issue at all. Thank you Derrick, and thank you MINI of Tempe. I hope our next visit is as accommodating. read more

I came to Mini of Tempe to have my A/C blower replaced and GPS accessory removed. They successfully fixed the blower issue and removed the accessory. However in the process of doing this they managed to break my entire tachometer - and conveniently didn't tell me it was broken so I had to make a second visit so they could correct their mistake. After four days of it in the shop to fix their error, they managed to then break my radio. This time, they fixed the radio without me picking up the car first and noticing. When I did come to get my car though, I found a giant crack in my windshield that wasn't there when I dropped off my vehicle just days ago. Now I get the grand honor of having to make an insurance claim for a new windshield. Thanks for fixing two problems, and then giving me three more. The Mini Cooper has always been my dream car. After my faithful 2006 Scion XA was totaled in an accident, I test drove just about every high-scoring 2013 subcompact car in my price range (~$17,000 msrp: Fiat 500, Honda Fit, Mazda 2, Kia Rio, Ford Fiesta), but I didn't want to drive the Mini because I didn't think I could afford it. I was not thrilled with any of them (though I did like the retro adorableness and color choices of the Fiat 500, but it felt too flimsy, and the mazda 2 was super fun to drive, but too sporty looking). They were all good cars, but they all just felt ho-hum. I realized that any other car besides the Mini would be settling, so I made the bold decision to finally visit the MINI of Tempe dealership. My heart sank when it was verified that new models were WELL over my budget, but then I was introduced to a certified pre-owned 2011 base model in my preferred color with only 23k miles, which was comparable in price to the others, and I got excited. When I test drove it, I knew it was THE ONE!!! The salesman, Josh, was very personable, low-pressure, and sweet. I went home to do more research, crunch numbers, and sleep on it. I found that the asking price was on par with KBB, and Edmunds and Consumer Reports rated the mini base model very highly. Additionally, Josh had explained that MINI's certified pre-owneds come with an extended warranty, so I was sold. The next day I met up with Josh again, made an offer,negotiated, and he worked it out with his manager behind the scenes and it was painless. I still splurged a little, but it's worth it to be driving my dream car!! I grin every time I see it, and giggle when I drive it. I can't even believe that it's mine. read more

For a car buying experience it was fairly painless! Chris was great to work with and went the extra mile to get me a good deal on a loan to close the deal. I appreciate how he worked with us to do the final negotiations by phone so we simply had to come by after work and then sign the papers so I could drive my new Mini home. I really like the advantages of the Certified Used program and feel at ease knowing I don't have to worry about maintenance or repairs for quite a while. We bought a Mini from Tempe, even though we live in San Diego. They seemed to be the only ones having a blue 2018 one. From beginning to end the experience was great. Frank Kayali was our rep and he was wonderful to work with. Very responsive, courteous and friendly. There was a minor hiccup on the pricing but that was solved in a good way too. Absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced from Shawn, Stephanie and Jim. I have brought my car to them since I bought it, and they were incredibly unhelpful, rude and short. When I scheduled my appointment I told them it was the end of my warranty and I wanted inspection. When I arrive they say, your warranty expired 10 days ago. Nothing we can do. Proceed to recommend $1,000 in maintenance, none covered. I inquire about a maintenance package. All three of them tell me something different that conflicted with the information from the others. When I came to pick up my car, Jim was on the phone and had someone I didn't know give me my receipt. They declined 2 extra repairs without even asking me if I wanted to fix them, or explaining to me what was wrong besides the video the tech sent. They also haven't given loaners in months and will only Uber you or have you wait, which is extremely inconvenient. I will never bring my car back again. read more
