My wife and I had a question about our 2016 Tundra. Having had been there once before I knew I could drive right in, which I did without an appointment which I would normally never do. We were greeted by a curtious clean cut young man who did his best to answer our question and on top of that went out into the service area an got a tech out of the shop to assist. The tech wasn't being paid to look at the truck but he did so anyway and gave us a thourough, detailed explanation of our concerns and did not try to rush us out the door. Very impressive! So went in for 30k service and to have the DC outlet checked. Confirmed the outlet was underwarranty. When the vehicle was ready. The informed me it was not covered under warranty because of "debrie" "later confirmed was rust and wiping it out with a cloth fixed the problem". Manager Joe "did not give his last name" who was extremely condescending the entire time. Insisted it was not rust. Did take cover the cost of the diagnostic. Main issue is I was not told before hand that if it was not covered under warranty I would be charged over 200$ for a diagnostic. This is something I would think is extremely important to cover before performing the service.Especially when the customer specifically asks if the service would be covered under the warranty. I have p t s d. And manager Joe's condescending tone and words.\nWere extremely aggravating and a common trigger for veterans with p t s d. Young lady at the counter was extremely professional.The entire time and I think her for actually being a professional even though the example given by her boss is exactly the opposite of that. I will preface this review with something positive before I get into the nitty gritty. We worked with Kathy Harmon on the possibility of trading my Mazda for a new 2020 RAV4 Hybrid. If you happen to come here for a car, I happily recommend working with her, she is great. We got the chance to really develop a relationship with her and I was looking forward to purchasing a new vehicle from her. Being a new car buyer, I am not as versed in the normal car buying experience as most people are. So, during the process I relied a lot from the advice of family. I thought we had everything figured out until I had to go in and sign papers by myself on Thursday 12/6. I went in thinking the car was set and ready to go and all I would have to deal with was signing the papers. Nope. That's where I met Rick Palmerton who is in the finance department. During my visit we discussed a couple of extended warranties that I had originally decided may be a good idea if I am going to be investing that much money in a vehicle. So, after agreeing on a couple of extended warranties, I left but felt a little uneasy. After looking these over on the contract with my boyfriend and parents, we noticed he had tacked on almost a total of $4,000 to my total price on the vehicle. I ultimately decided to have these removed after further discussion with my family, and when I asked Rick to do that, he continuously told me, "as you mentioned when you were here, $40-50/month is a small price to pay for this kind of coverage on a $30,000+ vehicle." To which I continued to re-state, "yes but after further discussion I would like to have them REMOVED." Rick continued to persist.... and I got 2 more emails that re-stated the same thing as well as mentioning that, "I also disclosed to you the 5% fee that would be imposed if you signed the contract and backed out of the deal, to which you replied 'I will not be backing out of the deal', and signed the contract. I will forward this to my sales manager, and he will be in contact with you." However, after speaking with the team from another dealership, they reassured me that legally they cannot charge me a 5% fee for backing out of a contract that was invalid from the get-go. There are laws that protect the consumer as well as the dealer. At the end of it all it is 110% your choice to follow through with it in the end. Since originally, I had a co-signer for my vehicle purchase, if the co-signer had not signed the contract yet, legally it was invalid. Here were some other things that were fishy: At Mark Toyota, Rick told me that my down payment could be cash or check only. + Another dealership ensured that is not the case and you can use any of the following options: cash (not a preferred option), check (not a preferred option), debit, or credit. I was pretty much threatened that I would have to pay 5% if I backed out of the contract... that was invalid without a co-signature in the first place. I don't know if this is to coerce you to just go through with the whole thing or not, but it isn't right. + The contract literally states, "You are obligated to purchase, subject to availability of financing through dealer on terms: "Acceptable to You." Both pamphlets that I received were outdated: 1. TFS Tire and Wheel Protection - Platinum Plus with Cosmetic Coverage & Key Replacement -- Listed ©2017 at the back-right hand corner of the pamphlet with M/Y date (4/17) 2. Toyota Extra Care Platinum Vehicle Service Agreement -- Listed ©2018 at the back-right hand corner of the pamphlet with M/Y date (3/18) I NEVER heard from the sales manager, and better yet... I was the one that called him to let him know that I would no longer be buying a car from there due to my experience with Rick. Although Elton B., the sales manager was very understanding and apologetic of the situation I highly doubt he knows the full truth as to what happened. That's why I am writing this. read more

Owners son and another worker kept trying to talk us into buying a car. We wanted to be left alone and they kept harrassing us. Both actually smelled like alcohol. I guess that makes sense for the rude jokes they tried to use. read more

Today's date: 6/11/2015 This past Saturday night, my wife was driving home to the Fox Valley from Eagle River with her sister and 90 year old aunt. Our 2007 Avalon broke down in Stevens Point. The engine ran fine, but with the transmission in "Drive", it would not go. My wife tried many things including shutting the engine off and letting the vehicle rest. She called AAA and they towed the car to Mark Toyota in Plover where it sat until Monday morning. So far-so good. In fact, I was relieved there was a Toyota dealer near by. They hooked up a diagnostic computer, found no problems, and called us to come and get it. I asked if they test drove the car and they said yes. I asked if they were really sure everything was ok. Again "yes". I asked if they did any investigative digging to discover the problem and they said it wasn't necessary. After all, when has a computer ever been wrong? They did offer this great idea: "Maybe your wife touched the brake and gas at the same time and it shut down." WHAT?!!?? I drove the car home Tuesday morning and it seemed as if all was well. I drove over the Little Lake Butte des Morts bridge, turned right and then it happened. The car bucked and lurched like a bronco. The engine went dead, then spontaneously went back on and I drove for 5 more blocks, lurching and jerking all the way to my own mechanic's shop in Menasha. The car is still there but he has assured me he'll get to the bottom of it. (Randall's Auto Haus in Menasha, Wisconsin. Been going there for 35+ years and they are great!) So what do I think of Mark Toyota? NOT MUCH! I asked them repeatedly if they were SURE that the car was ok and that we could depend on it. Over and over they said "THERE IS NO PROBLEM!" Well there was a problem, obviously. A dealership and service department that really cares about people and their own reputation would have done more, would have done something! The "I Don't Give A Crap" service department made sure I paid $107 for their so-called diagnostic test-(what do you think-maybe a 20 minute process??) Are they incompetent? Do they take any pride in their jobs? Are they overworked or maybe did they figure we live too far away to ever be return customers? I DON'T KNOW. I do know that they did not help us at all and they did not seem to be even slightly concerned. Now they'll spend untold dollars advertising in an attempt to get new customers, not realizing incidents such as this one are the most expensive to their bottom line. read more

My 2005 4 runner broke down while I was out of town on business. The dealership in Plover were definitely into good customer service. They were going to fit my car in to get it repaired, but did not have a loaner. Even though I was not able to take them up on their effort to provide good customer service, the fact that they bent over backwards to help illustrates their concern for good customer service ad should be recognized for their effort to assist. read more

I saw a used Tundra on Website that looked like exactly what I wanted. The mileage was 19800 when it was offered for sale. I stopped by a total of four times (including today) to look at the truck. Three out of four times it was gone being driven around by am employee including a trip to Milwaukee. When I finally got to drive and inspect the vehicle it had almost 1500 more miles on it in 6 weeks. I have some friends who work "in the business" and know how used vehicles are treated (think rental car in Las Vegas). I am sure someone will buy this Rock Warrior but it wont be me. When you are trying to sell a vehicle leave it on the lot so people can see it instead of tooling around pounding miles on something that isn't yours. Take a Prius read more

I drove 4 hours to look at a 2002 Ford Escape XLT 4WD, Stock #: T3447E, 1FMYU041X2KA09172 listed for $4916. The vehicle was in good shape with the exception of some minor rust spots starting in the typical places for Escapes (which wasn't my main concern). My main concern was that the AC system was not blowing cold air and the condenser was kicking on which meant it was most likely a leak somewhere in the system, which could mean a simple recharge needed or a more major repair. I spoke to my local mechanic over the phone who advised that if the AC was an issue, they typically run around $600-700 to diagnose and repair depending on the issue The Escape was a previous fleet vehicle and retails (NADA) for $4125. After some negotiating I made it clear I would pay no more than full retail ($4125) for the Escape, to which I was told that no one uses NADA anymore and that the lowest they would go was $4454 plus fees (by the way is $239 for paperwork processing plus another $18-$19 fee) which seemed a bit excessive. I decided not to buy the vehicle based on their pricing and left. At no point did anyone else speak to me other than salesman (no manager, etc) and the only money that was moved was from their original asking price of $4916 to $4454 ($462 off which was still $329 above retail, FOR a 15 year old Escape with an AC issue! I left to look at another vehicle and noticed later the same day that I had visited, Mark Toyota had marked up the same Escape I had just looked at from $4916 up to $5767, which is now listed for $1642 above retail at that price. The salesman was fine to work with, and it seems like the entire issue I had revolved around pricing, and it seemed like a very typical car dealership you would dread going to when it comes down to the numbers. If you go to look at this vehicle, do your research before you go (ensure the AC is working before you buy and don't get caught overpaying for it). I would have been glad to buy the vehicle at retail, but it seemed very clear that my business was not worth it to Mark Toyota. Would not recommend this dealership. read more

Do not do business with Mark Toyota! In sum, they are dishonest and will not be true to their word. We bought a 2005 used truck and it had nothing but issues with it from the start (one of which was major having to do with the water pump). After having it fixed, the head of used sales Elton, inspected all the parts my mechanic replaced and promised to pay us $300 to offset the immense money spent in repairs on this vehicle (repairs Elton also concluded needed to be done). After a month of the check never arriving, I called Elton, who again reassured me that the check was in the mail and that I would receive it asap. Another month goes by and I call again to find out that Elton is on vacation, leaving me only to deal with Tim the gm, who, claimed his head of used vehicles (Elton) had never been granted authority to pay us for our loss and that he would not honor Elton's word/agreement to pay us for our loss. Whether Elton had the authority to compensate us, or if Elton was lying from the get go to get rid of us, I do not know, but the principle stands that if you promise your customers something, a company should, if they are honest and care about their clientele becoming repeat customers, follow through on their word/promises. This vehicle after inspection by our mechanic, has numerous issues, most of which our mechanic and Elton both agreed should have been taken care of prior to putting it on the lot for sale. As of now there is a grinding noise that I once again have to have looked at. I will never do business at this company again nor will I recommend them to anyone in the Stevens Point area. Having just beat cancer after a long and terrible six year battle (including 24 weeks of chemotherapy) the stress of dealing with this dealership is not worth it to us or our health. read more
