I've been seeing Dr. Wong for a number of months now and he has become my go-to guy when it comes to chiropractic work. I am not easily impressed with bodyworkers because of my years of experience with them so it takes me some time to really trust in the work they do. Well, Dr. Wong fits everything that I think is important for a chiropractor. He's very thorough with his evaluation, explains clearly step by step what his adjustment will be and do for you, he's patient, and he's got great bedside manners. Chiropractic work can be a little unnerving especially for those who aren't experienced with it but his demeanor is just very calm and patient and most importantly, effective. I have had neck and back pain that had never gone away with other chiropractic adjustments but with him, one atlas adjustment and the pain was gone, just like that. Amazing! He's got a wealth of knowledge and techniques that he uses too, doesn't just always use the same adjustment over and over again like I've experienced with so many other chiropractors. Dr. Mark Wong. Wow. He is an amazing chiropractic doctor. Words cannot even explain how he has helped me on my road to recovery. Tremendously Amazing. When I walked into his office many months ago. I was in antagonizing pain because of an accident that I was involved in, unfortunately. Since then I have still been in recovery, but, the pain is gone. Well it still comes and goes. But, I am feeling 100% better than when I went into his office. But, I know that as long as I continue to work with this man, that my results can only get better. He also has pillows that you can buy at only like $29.99. That's a cheap price. I recommend that each person that is having sleeping problems or insomnia, that you go to his office and buy one of these pillows to help you sleep. I've been seeing Dr. Wong for almost 4 months. I have a lower back pain for 6 years now, it is almost chronic. I saw all the specialist under the sun; PT, acupuncturist, and most recently the famous UCSF spine center. None of them them, specially UCSF spine center and that was where I spent the most of money. Working with children can be physically demanding at times- especially when your job includes lifting the children. My back had started to feel some strain in certain places and it was overall uncomfortable. A few weeks ago, I went in for my initial exam and had a conversation of what needed adjusting with Dr. Wong. However, today was the first day that he had done some adjustments and I can already feel the difference. With each step, or movement, he thoroughly explained of what he was going to do and areas that needed adjusting. Also, another aspect of what had made this experience enjoyable is that an individual can tell that Dr. Wong cares about his patients and takes the time to get to know them. He had asked me of what my job entails, and builds conversations from there. I was even surprised when he mentioned something from our last conversation at the initial exam. I went back to Dr. Wong after a long hiatus because of financial/insurance issues. I feel much better already. I love how he explains exactly what is going on with your spine and adjusts subluxations effectively and gently. Dr. Wong is one of God's gifts to humanity. His skill, knowledge, humility and visionary approach to healing was a true blessing to my life and I suspect the live of many of the people lucky enough to have him as their chiropractor. I was in a car accident several years ago and had been suffering with lower back and neck pain consistently from that time despite having gone to at least 10 different chiropractors and 2 orthopedic surgeons and a physical therapist. I had to take alleve pain pills regularly, A friend of mine told me about Dr. Wong and his magic hands and I decided to give him a try. Am I glad I did. Within three months the neck pain was completely gone and the back pain continued to diminish. Now six months since my first visit, the back pain has been reduced by at least 70-80%. I have probably only taken 2 alleve pills in the past 6 months even after 10 hour plane rides. Additionally, my overall health has improved despite my being 66 years old. I augment the treatments with regular strengthening exercise, swimming, dancing, acupuncture cupping and bi-monthly massages. Dr. Wong is one of the best chiropractors I have ever had and its all about his approach. He takes time to talk to you about how you feel and will not hesitate to use all of the tools at his disposal to address it directly. Heavier on the hands-on adjustments, he still uses the mechanical implements and tables to get right into whatever is hurting. If he feels a vertebrae needs to be massaged into place rather than pulled or popped, he will do so. This also leads to him often fixing things I didn't realize were bothering me. The adjustments are never jarring or uncomfortable even when the reason for the visit is itself painful. I have 5 fused vertebrae around my L1 and have rods in my back from a ski accident when I was in high school. Between managing the pain and stiffness from that and the job I held for several years at the front desk of my chiropractor when I was younger, I have seen and been adjusted by almost a dozen doctors and would easily put Dr. Wong at the top of the list every time. A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!! This word perfectly describes what and how I feel after seeing Dr. Wong for quite sometime. I found Dr. Wong on the internet awhile ago, possibly in 2008 or earlier.....Needless to say I knew he was gonna be a great chiro to go to, he is very attentive to what your needs are, he also recommends such great stretching exercises for sciatica discomfort, tense muscles, eating habits, supplements that don't make you burp up fish oil, among many more countless discussions about children and their curiosities. Oh did I mention stiff neck muscle pain!!! Well he fixed that tooooooo. Gotta mention I also seen Dr. Wong while I was pregnant up until the day I had my second daughter, while I was having contractions. I injured my back while vacationing in Hawaii and the pain was unbearable upon my return. Dr. Wong was referred to me by a close friend and he squeezed me in for an exam and treatment on the day that I called. He quickly diagnosed the problem and treated me. Several months ago, I had an issue with my back (surprise!). I was still new to Oakland and had not seen a chiropractor in years (x- East Coaster). Yelp! introduced me to Dr. Wong, and I selected him because of his highly recommended reviews. He has a small office and runs his own business himself, is very reasonable and accepts certain health coverages. And... he saw me that day! Dr. Wong is personable, has a calm, quiet presence and is very focused; I immediately relaxed and felt reassured. He spends time getting to know his patients. He was very attentive-- first asking me questions and then conducting a thorough exam. He explained everything very clearly, methodically and in detail. He adjusted my subluxations using several different gentle techniques, gave me daily exercises and recommendations, and I happily left feeling so much better! I continued seeing him until the issue subsided. Quite recently, I did something silly (..of course) resulting in excruciating pain (if you are reading this, you know what I mean!) Sciatica!! Over the course of the next 3 weeks, Dr. Wong treated me several times using various adjustment methods (hands-on, tables and mechanical tools) and included deep massage. He easily spends 30 to 40 minutes with his patients, ensuring a relaxed and thorough assessment and treatment. In between visits to continue the healing process, I carried out his daily plan of exercises and treatments. He gave me a TENS unit as well! Dr. Wong was very flexible in fitting me in especially during sudden immobilizing episodes during the healing process. After those 3 weeks, I felt ready to salsa! I'm really impressed with Dr. Wong's approach to wellness. Like many others, I appreciate the the time he took to get to know me, understand and explain my injury and treatment and hear about what good health means to me. Being new to chiropractic, I was nervous that I would be pressured into indefinite weekly visits and the financial impact of that. But Dr. Wong and I talked through a plan that I felt comfortable with and in the beginning I did see him a few times a week...but I got better and the pain subsided and now my visits are way less frequent (1x/3 weeks) and preventive. I am a long time fan of Dr. Wong's work, having been through two pregnancies, a few small car accidents and the body strain of getting older with help from his treatment. Here's why I love his work: 1. Never rushed, he takes plenty of time to talk with me and assess my issues. He does several types of adjustments including tissue work (like a mini massage), manual adjustment, and activator release. Probably there's more he can do, just ask. He's super friendly. 2. He has never hurt me, nor have I left with more pain than I came in with. I'm super sensitive to bad adjustments and tissue work thats too deep, so this is a big deal to me. Even at 35 weeks pregnant I feel totally safe and better after he's done. 3. Even my 8 year old has benefitted from his treatment. Lets face it, a heavy backpack, a lot of running and too much time on my laptop have led to some young back problems which Dr. Wong has also treated skillfully. 4. Super convenient. I can always call and get an appointment the same day or the next day, and he returns calls promptly even outside of his business hours. He takes my health insurance and dealt with auto insurance for me after one of the accidents. I don't usually write Yelp reviews, but I feel compelled to due to the wonderful job he did on my 8 month old baby. I took him in because he was colicky, keeping me up the whole night, and waking up really scared. From the very first visit, my baby was sleeping much better and did not wake up scared anymore. To my amazement, it was really a night and day difference! He says kids and babies are able to respond to chiropractic treatments better than adults. He was extremely gentle yet effective with his treatments - my baby liked his calm and friendly demeanor from the start. I never have had to see a chiropractor before! And I hope that I do not ever have to again. I found Dr. Wong by just a simple google search. The office is tiny but it easily accommodates his patients, with no problems! The chiropractic work that he does is "off the charts, magnificent". I had to see him on two occasions. The first time after a few consistent treatments, all my pain was gone. The second time my injury was beyond his scope of practice, but he was still able to treat me.
