When the store representative closed the machine after clearing the blockage it printed out a cash voucher and not a an e Gift certificate as I requested. The store claimed that they could not do anything to fix their error. I immediately called Coin Star about the issue. They claimed a check would be in the mail in 15 to 20 business days. Now 30+ days have gone by with no refund on my lost money. I spoke to Coin Star twice and they claim the "check will be in the mail" . They are pleasant on the phone but do not support the machine failures.

I always remembered that so I was hesitant about making a visit there. What I found recently was a busy store with a tendency to sell out of items quickly, especially eggs and specialty breads. It's every bit as big as the other ALDI stores in the region. It seems to carry some different items. For instance, there are free range eggs for $2.49 which I didn't see in the other locations. That alone makes it worth the visit. The ciabatta bread tends to sell out quickly. It also comes in an Asiago cheese coated version which I didn't see anywhere else. The store is clean looking but short staffed. So if shoppers make a mess of the fruit and vegetable displays it may take a while before staff can come and put the displays back in order. Keep in mind that this particular ALDI doesn't have any self-checkout options. There's only the cashier and if it happens that there's only one register open you'll need to bring your patience because you may be standing online for a few minutes.

IGA offers the standard supermarket staples plus produce, dairy, deli, meats, and bakery. The shelf prices tend to be higher than at a Price Chopper or Hannaford, which are located several towns away. But with gas prices these days, the prices seem fair for the area. IGA also has weekly sales flyers with good deals too. HOURS: Mon-Fri: 8AM-9PM; Sat: 8AM-7PM; Sun: 8AM-6PM

Seriously, once you go wholesale, it's impossible to return to the world of retail shopping. Granted, some items come in wholesale quantities. For example if you want some pork belly, you have to buy an entire eight pound pork belly. But theirs isn't any pork belly, it's Berkshire pork, which is a prized heritage breed. I went in for a pack of fresh grass-fed skirt steak, which at the time was less than $6 a pound, and came in convenient two pound packages. However they were out of stock so I left with a pork belly (and a bunch of other delicious stuff). If you go, bring a jacket. You'll want to spend some time in their walk in refrigerator, and you may want to spend time in their walk in freezer (that's were all the farm-raised game lives). Also bring a sense of adventure. None of the prices are marked, but the staff is incredibly friendly and loves talking about food. They are incredibly knowledgeable, and will gladly look up prices for you. Since my initial discovery of the place, I've now started an account. So I can show up without any money and they'll just bill my card. And that's pretty dangerous. Because it's really inexpensive for what it is. But when you are confronted with duck and foie gras sausages, tubs of duck fat, cured Ibierco loin, Old Chatham Sheepherding Company cheeses, bottles of extra virgin olive oil, caviar, and cured salami made from happy pigs, it requires a lot of willpower to leave the caviar behind. Prices are fair, not inflated, and you don't pay shipping as from some web gourmet shop. This place is REALLY hard to find, in an industrial park just before the bridge over the Hudson to Troy. Look for the Midlands dairy facility, enter at the public road south of the facility, then proceed past Ace Hardware and Midlands and turn right on a private road. From there, wander around until you find it. If it's a hot day, be sure to bring a cooler, but Jordan will be happy to throw in a cold pack. Open Monday-Friday only, from 8 am till 4 or a bit later.
