BEST steak n cheese you can get! Lines can get long but, if you get through it, the strak n cheese is DELICIOUS and super cheap. $6 gets you an excellent steak n cheese sub every time. It's a crazy time in the United States the Covid 19 situation makes it difficult for us business travelers. I wasn't able to get regular water but I got some flavored filtered waters so at least I'm not hydrating on sugary beverages. The store seemed pretty well stocked and lots of workers busy at their tasks. There are a selection of hot and cold prepared food items including full wholesome meal entrees. Not knowing if I was going to have a microwave I went for the store prepared sushi which looks pretty good. Great price, but that's all they have. Employees are extremely ill-trained. Especially employees at food market section. Once I ordered sandwich and asked them to cut in half, a lady wiped the knife blade to her shirt. It was pretty disgusting and dangerous practice. I did not want to argue with moronic worker, So I took the sandwich outside and tossed into trash can. At other times, I and wife got diarrhea right after eating sandwich from there. Coincidence? Maybe. But I am not buying prepared food from there any time soon. I still go there because price and selections are good. I just don't order anything from food market section. read more

More training would be very helpful to cashier and/or bagging person. Putting meat with other items are usually not a good idea, nor putting case of eggs with other heavy items. I thought they would at least have some common sense and/or idea about food safety, but I guess that is asking too much of them. Despite all the drama over the summer, MB still remains as my go to grocery store. I can find 99% of my grocery items and get in and out of the store without a hassle. I love their international aisle with Asian and Mexican groceries. Unlike other large chains, the prices aren't super marked up for Goya products as well as international sauces, etc. When I'm feeling lazy to whip up a hot meal, the hot foods section always delivers. We like the kettle wings, cheap hot dog and fries combo, eggplant, and pizzas. The sushi is always wonderful and fresh. Of course we LOVE the ROTISSERIE chicken. When we are in a rush in the mornings, the breakfast sandwiches are delicious and hearty for less than $3.00 each. For lunch, I grab a few of their specialty pre-made salads with carrots and quinoa or spinach or beets and I feel like I'm eating a "fancy" salad for a fraction of the restaurant price. Prices are always affordable. My mother who has moved out of the state almost a decade ago to CT still comments that some of their items still have the same prices as it did a decade ago! She was a fan of their complimentary coffee station and she still gets excited to see that its still offered. I love Market Basket and this particular store is my absolute favorite. Market Basket's prices can be beat and they have a great selection. The stores are always busy which means their stock turns over quickly - quick turnover = maximum freshness. They have a nice selection of baked goods from their in-store bakery - their roasted garlic ciabatta is one of my faves. The Basket also has a really nice selection of natural and organic foods - they are mixed in with the conventional produce and groceries so you may not notice them right away, but they're there (and often their organic produce prices are often lower than other stores' conventional produce!). The ambiance can best be described as funky - it's has a very 50s market vibe - lots of linoleum and the baggers wear white shirts and bow ties. The old-fashioned vibe means old-fashioned customer service - on a rainy day there is an employee with a big umbrella outside to escort you to your car and help load your groceries. Market Basket is also a local chain - started in Lowell and the stores are concentrated in the Merrimack Valley. As I mentioned earlier, Market Basket is always busy - really, really busy. Shopping there on a Saturday or Sunday is crazy. Lots of families with kids. You just have to let yourself go with it and truly immerse yourself in the Basket experience. I'll admit that I used to be a Basket hater (too crowded, icky ambiance, etc.) but that's just surface stuff. The low prices, great selection and freshness of the product changed my mind (having help loading my groceries on a rainy day also helped!). Go to the Basket once and you'll hate it, shop there often and you'll love it! read more

Every time my elderly mother shops in this market basket, it's never pleasant. Some of the rudest employees. She was at the meat counter looking for shady brook turkey that was on sale. She could not find it, so in turn there were 2 employees engaged in conversation and she asked where the turkey that was on sale was. The male employee looked at the female employee and laughed and i quote "she wants ground turkey " and continued to laugh. He then rudely said to her "if it ain't here, we don't have any" it's a good thing I was not there. The outcome would of been a lot different. Also, apparently none of the baggers understand "please pack them light" I think you should consider some customer service training for these idiots read more

July 2018 they created an AMAZING cake for me in their bakery..... Looked amazing and tasted even better!! I showed them one that was in their case and asked if they could do something similar with specific flavors for a function I was hosting. I usually avoid market baskets, but since they've updated the store, it's actually a lot better. The produce and meat are fresh and prices are cheap. The cashiers and baggers are friendly. I even had a cart pusher run up to me and help me load my groceries in my car. Now I love Stop and Shop still, but they've never done that for me. Now if only Market Basket would do curbside delivery like S&S...Just a thought, ya know. read more

The recent renovation to this particular Market Basket elevates it from good to excellent. The expanded dairy section, bakery, and order-to-go foods are all great additions, plus the whole place got a much-needed facelift. I'd put this store on par with the Tewksbury store now. Their prices are much better than the across-the-road Stop & Shop. Also - If you find an item on sale at the S&S, you can go across the road and find the same or better sale at MB for the same item. That's smart marketing. My only beef with MB is their hours - they close at 9PM during the week and 7PM on Sundays. Being a night owl, I find these hours to be somewhat inconvenient. read more

Holy mother of god, I hate Market Basket. They have the best prices out of every grocery store around, but I would rather pay top dollar at Hannaford and leave with my sanity intact. My complaint is not just with this location, but with all of them. Here are the 3 major problems Market Basket needs to address: 1) They are not organized in a way that makes sense. Who the hell is in charge of this rather large detail? I would like to have a word with them, or better yet, their mother. A true story from my own experience at the Westford store: I wanted to bake bread, and all I needed was a packet of yeast. Where would you expect yeast to be located in a grocery store? In the baking aisle, obviously. I looked up and down the whole aisle for about 5 minutes, and finally asked for help. The young man who was working led me out of the aisle and over to the refrigerated section, next to the orange juice. ?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?? In what world does that make sense? I guess it makes sense in the Twilight Zone, which must be where every Market Basket is located. This problem is not limited to this location, they all seem to be afflicted with it, and it is incredibly frustrating, especially if you're trying to get in& out quickly. 2) Each location is organized in a completely different, yet equally insane way. So, you can expect to find the rice in one aisle in store A, but it will be in a different spot if you were to stop at a different store on your way home from work. AAAGGGGHHHHH! 3) The aisles are barely wide enough to accommodate two carts side by side (one going up, the other going down). On top of this, the good folks at Market Basket cram as many impulse buys and stuff that won't fit on the shelves onto end caps and oddly shaped displays in the front of the store, in the back of the store, every which-where one could conceivably fit a giant display of stuff you probably don't need. This has the unpleasant effect of making one feel like the walls are closing in on you. Yes, that's what we need while we're buying groceries... the feeling of claustrophobia. Perfect. Today I was at one of the Lowell stores, and the employees had been stocking the big bags of rice. Not all of them could fit on the shelves, so they just left pallets of rice sitting in the aisle. ON A SATURDAY. It's hard enough to navigate through the store on a busy Saturday morning without this added obstacle. Thanks for keeping me on my toes, Market basket! I realize that the Chelmsford location (and many others) are expanding and renovating. I have been in the updated Chelmsford store and these problems have not been addressed or even acknowledged. Always standing around with his hands on his hips watching all the kids bust their butts.... he should be helping out bagging or something - asked him a question one day and he couldn't even answer. Terrible place. The parking lot is always a nightmare. You have people taking up multiple spaces, carriages strewn about and hobos asking you for money as you try to make your way to the store. If you have a lot of time to kill, head over to the deli where you are sure to find no more than 2 people working and taking their time with your orders. I also had to listen to one worker telling another how late he stayed out the night before and how much he drank. I have generally shied away from this Market Basket as it isn't as convenient as the other 5,280 in my area, but with the half-price card store and the TJ Maxx in the little plaza, I may hit it more often. The store used to be dated and in serious need of an upgrade, but I believe their knowing that the new Stop & Shop across the street would be opening in late November (after 10 years' worth of litigation) gave them the incentive to spruce up this MB and expand it. The store is now a lot nicer than its Westford counterpart. Cheeses, frozen food, meat, and produce placement makes a lot more sense now, and there is a greater variety than before. The store is very clean, and personnel seem a bit friendlier, too. The parking lot should be spruced up as well, and they should rethink the exit/entrance design, especially with the new S&S across the way. At least there's a light. Market Basket is a lot cheaper than S&S and the produce is just as good (or bad), so I will continue shopping here, with a trip to S&S only for sale items. read more

It might not be as pretty as Hannaford or as big as WalMart, but this is the place to shop in Chelmsford. Frankly, any grocery story in Chelmsford is better then the gross Stop n Shop in Chelmsford Center. I like the fact that Market Basket is still family owned (even if they are at each other's throats) and has competitive prices. I wish they didn't wrap so much of their produce in cellophane but that will not deter me from plunking my cash at the register. read more

I have rated this Aok and heres why: I have been shopping at Market Basket for years. Low Prices for the most part, even when there was a tug of war of ownership in the past couple of years, they are still lower than Stop & Shop and Shaws. Good selection to chose from.Some stores I will shop these because they carry one thing and not the other. If you are going to get donuts, they are bigger than you know who. and fresh everytime.I highly recommend. Its for the most part a clean store. My advice to them is to speed up your staff, I wanted to find a manager, but there was no one around and i didnt want my food to spoil. If you are training someone on the register, do it at a slow traffic period there are certain times when it is busy and i had to go into another lane because the girl was training and was moving at a very slow pace. From a managerial perspective, I would let them do this at the 8 items or less lane than the other ones ,because by the time they gain speed(IF they can) they wont hold up the lines. Your staff need to be better trained. read more

I believe they have superior customer service and are always on top of things ! I was never really a fan of this particular Market Basket but would come here every two or so weeks to grab a few things and go. I decided to take my mother here this morning because I'm a teacher and we had a snow day. I was thinking since they were open for 3 or so hours now and people were at work, it'd be a prime time go. We went in and noticed they had lost power, but we noticed that there were still people in line being rung out since the registers were still working. We went in to grab a few things and asked a female employee walking by if we could buy some eggs since there were just carts full of cardboard blocking the way. Without even a glance as she walked quickly by she just loudly said "No!" Confused, I gave my mom a bewildered look and she turned around and said "No power, no power" in that broken english kind of way of talking as if we didn't understand english. I was embarrassed and had to look around to make sure no others customers were watching us. As someone who's worked retail for many years in my teens and college years, I've learned that positive communicational skills are very important even if you are having a rough day. That negativity should be left at the door when communicating with customers because I'm not only representing myself but a business. For example, instead of saying "No! No power!" how about "My apologies, the products in this section are unfortunately not available to purchase due to problems in relation to the power outage. Is there anything else I can help you with at all?" That being said, I'll be shopping elsewhere for my family and students. read more

I love my neighborhood grocery store. The employees are really nice and always go out of their way to help me get what I need. There's a very impressive selection of Latin American, African, and Caribbean foods. The recent renovation definitely expanded the store which is a good thing. But I don't like the fact that the recycling is in another separate room just outside of the doors. The main reason why I don't like it is because it is a very small room and it takes longer for any of the attendants to help you. Employees are extremely professional and they will always help you out if you can't find anything or if something is out of stock on the shelves. Market Basket has the best variety, the biggest selection and by far the best prices. Their "More for Your Dollar" slogan is more than just words. This Market Basket is much too large, and not particularly well organized. By the time I've hiked all over its map, trying to find what I need, I'm exhausted. What I find most disturbing about MB, however, is that its employees do not seem happy. I shop at 3-4 different supermarkets in my area, and at none of the others, nor any others I've ever shopped at, do employees seem so miserable. I can only guess that this is because of MB's treatment of its employees. I will not shop in a corporate sweat shop, even to save 20 to $50 a week. read more
