I use to frequent this store mostly for flowers arrangement for many occasions but today will be the last time coming here because I came in to buy flowers for my niece who just went into labor and there was a sign that said "if you need flower service please head to the service desk.." so I did. Waited a minute or two because the lady that was at the service desk was doing other things. She came back and seen me gave me a blank stare and I asked her if I can get some help for a flower arrangement she just look at me like I'm stupid and said, "yes you can grab the flowers and vase and ring up but we're not allow to touch anything because the person that does it isn't here.." okay so why would you tell me to grab the flowers and vase and not tell me first that there's nobody available to help me? But as far I can remember stop n shop employees are trained to do it. So I just walked out and didn't bother. I'll bring my business elsewhere. Racist much?!? It's unfortunate that I need to give one of my favorite grocery stores one star because of a rude employee. I walked in around 7:40pm (they close at 8pm now cause of the health crisis) and was almost done shopping. A few minutes past 8pm, this employee says to me "excuse me, we're closed" in a very rude and loud tone. I stated I had a couple more things to get it and she just repeated what she said and told me I could not walk any further and to turn around and go checkout. There is no excuse to be rude to customers or speak to them in this way. She explained they have to sanitize the store right at 8pm. That is completely understandable, but she could've said it in a nicer way. Again, as I've seen a lot lately COVID-19 seems to be bringing out the nasty in people. I have left a 5 star message in the past but buyer beware if using SNAP. I had my $203.? order delivered on October 7th. I put my order through as I always do, checking it twice to be certain SNAP is being applied, it was. Something happened (Stop and Shop cannot tell me what, they don't know?) and it was charged to my bank account and I cannot have it reversed. They said they sent an email to my husband saying that the charges were reversed however my husband had a stroke 2 weeks ago and cannot use his phone. It wouldn't be such a concern but for the fact we are 70 years old and on very limited income. It's really heartbreaking when you have $45 left until the 3rd of next month. I feel Stop and Shop could have worked with me, I've been an excellent customer. I'm also very grateful we are able to have SNAP. PLEASE be aware you will get no help from Stop and Shop, they didn't even try. Said I should have changed my email then I would have been aware. I know not everyone is super happy with the deli and I can't talk about that - BUT I LOVE THIS PLACE!! I recently moved to the area and have bounced between grocery stores to find my favorite, and this one is it. It has an insane selection and appears to focus heavily on healthy foods that are still fun and enjoyable. I highly recommend, and I will be shopping here from now on! Update: I'm updating this post to mention my wonderful experience with the woman working self-checkout. I forgot my credit card at home (I was so embarrassed) and she helped keep my food cold/safe while I ran home to get it! Stephen who was stocking some fruit was really helpful when I was trying to determine which blueberries and strawberries to purchase. Love the new location! Ordering from work and picking my groceries up after saved me a lot of time and money. Knowing me, I would browse the aisles and buy everything. Especially since I would be starving at the time, I would buy things I wouldn't need. So by doing this I spent half of what I usually spend and was still able to fill up my fridge. The prepared foods were not all fried. They have the rotisserie chicken, meatloaf, meatballs, sandwiches, salads, etc. The sushi is actually quite scrumptious too. Also the prices were affordable. I bought lunch for my husband and I for 6 bucks! 2 big pieces of white meat with seasoned rice. It would have cost me more to make it myself. Scan it is also great. Scan and bag as you go. Saves time at the checkout lane, but since I've discovered curbside delivery, I might not ever have to go inside anymore. Its also a lot better than Market Basket. Its cleaner, friendlier, more spacious and even the customers are friendly. So I definately give it 5 stars. read more

The employees were friendly, even when I was checking 10 minutes before they closed. There was a problem with my card and I ended up having to go to the ATM in store instead. They held my order and checked me out after closing time and were still friendly when when the receipt didn't print correctly and we were well after closing time, still trying to get me out of there. I found the store difficult to navigate in terms of how it is organized and a number of things I had coupons for were not sold in store. However, the employees made up for it with their genuine customer service. read more

I have never been to stop and shop before so I decided to give them a try two days ago... Keep in mind, this was TWO days ago. Today I went to cook the Hamburg that I purchased and paid $8 for, it was fine last night and tonight? Brown and wreaks of the bad stench meat gets when it is spoiled. Which is annoying, but I figured I'd take the hit. Then I took out the bell peppers I purchased on the same day, started cutting in to them and all the peppers had white spots through the entirety of the inside of the "shell". And they all had "bruises". My kitchen currently wreaks of bad meat, and all my peppers are in the trash. I'm not even wanting to open the mushrooms I bough for fear they'll be disgusting as well. I've shopped at Hannaford my whole life and occasionally I'll stop in at Market Basket... Both locations have not given me this issue but if I have had an issue its with MB and not Hannafords. We've been trying the pick up service for the last few weeks and it's terrible. No tomatoes, no onions, no tortillas, no English muffins, no canned beans, no green beans, no blueberries, no napkins, no ranch dressing.....Are you kidding me? Half of our order isn't filled every time even though we always check off the replacement box in case a specific brand isn't available. Wegmans does a much better job. We finally got to visit this Stop & Shop last weekend as we normally visit the one in Bedford. This place is easy to reach from the highway and is quite large. The high ceilings and the natural lights from the skylights reminds me of the warehouse stores. Their selections are good as we were able to find some items that we were unable to find in other stores in the area. Checkout was quick and I found the cashier to be friendly. read more

The old location was SO disgusting and gross, it is nice to see the new facility. Clean, well lit, and bigger. It seems as if their prices have gotten a little lower and more competitive with Market Basket across the street. Their baked goods are no different than the previous location, average chain grocery store carbs and sweets. I do like their nifty hand scanners; it meets my needs and I appreciate not having to stand in line for check out. Choice is always good but I still gravitate towards Market Basket. Their peapod service is very poor. I can only speak from my experience using it weekly the last few months. It is a great idea if you have kids and want to get this checked off the errands list quickly. However, routinely there are items missing or some of the produce or the items are in rough shape. When you tack on the service fee and the extra time to cart back to the store or when they miss items or even the rotten produce....you just sigh and wonder if it's worth it....I just don't believe it is anymore. read more

Just went to the new 72,000-sq-ft Stop & Shop, which was 10 years in the making because of litigation from another supermarket across the street . This store replaced the tired one about 2 miles away that was half the size. I waited til after T-giving and for 1pm, when there would be fewer parents there. As expected, the new store (about 2 weeks old) is clean and the employees are friendly. I just have a few observations and comments because I have an opinion about EVERYTHING (see my profile): 1) Shoppers can now use SCAN IT! scanners to price out products as they put them into their carts. However, not many people were using them, judging from the "scanner" shelves at the front of the store. Actually, I think I was the ONLY one using a scanner, as all the other slots were full. It's a good idea; it's just that shoppers are afraid of them, just as they are about self-checkouts. 2) The ladle-your-own soup section (actually, 3 soups) was in the deli department. It should be near the salad bar. I had to circle around twice to locate it. 3) I had noticed some advertisements concerning Kosher deli that would be sold in this store. They do not have any, so am not sure why that info was included in a brochure. 4) They need a few more cart corrals. I parked in the middle of the lot and couldn't find one close by. 5) I was disappointed with the prepared food section. They had lots of different types of fried chicken, tho. I don't eat that stuff. I thought there'd be a greater variety. 6) They need to advertise the curbside pickup amenity. It's a good idea, I guess, but I wouldn't use it. There were no fewer than 10 curbside-pickup people standing around and looking at each other, waiting to help. Other amenities include an in-store nutritionist and a supervised child play area (I was curious about it but couldn't locate it). Having a nutritionist on-site is a good idea, but I'm not sure if they did a focus group on that for this area. I don't personally think there'd be a big calling for one. Perhaps in Lexington, MA, but not in Chelmsford. Just my opinion. There's also a little café with WiFi and pastries. Am thinking they should also sell little sandwiches, fruit, finger foods. Prices are high, and once the curiosity factor goes away, I predict that the Market Basket across the street will still be number 1. Will probably head back, but only for sale items. And it won't be tomorrow. read more

I wasn't able to get the woman's name because I just wanted to get away from her along with both of my kids a few times now. I've switched lines and even put back a few items to avoid this woman and go to the 12 and under self check out line specifically to get away from her. She had long curly blonde streaks going through her brown hair and definitely looked and acted super Italian. She would talk poorly about the customers when they left and we'd be the next customers in line. She'd be shacking her head as they walked away calling them stupid talking to the bagger. She's also said things about another customer calling them trash and talking to them like they were completely dumb or like they didn't understand English (when they completely understood English) it was just simply because they were paying with food stamps and the terminal didn't have the swipe screen it was black( so that wasn't the customers fault at all and they swiped correctly, it was just the terminal being blacked out). She would sometimes work both as a cashier ringing out customers and also worked at the self check out helping customers there. She would tease my children and even with them saying stop she would continue on doing the same thing taking toys from them laughing about to the point I had to say to please stop they clearly don't like it but she just laughed and smiled walking away like it was a joke but she was the only one laughing ignorantly and really pissed me off. I was an employee for stop and shop myself at one point at a different location and I have never seen anyone ever as an employee treat people this way and don't understand how stop and shop hasn't done anything about this woman. read more

Firstly, I come here more often than I should because of convenience. Secondly, I'm usually not satisfied. Great hours of operation, decent selection of goods, but trouble with withered produce and lack of organic meat options. Prices could be better, especially on basics like milk, eggs, and veggies. I hate waiting in line for the one or 2 register open, so usually end up self checkout, but get annoyed with the machine and the poor associate left running between them all fixing issues with ringing. read more

I think it may be time to retrain the workers in the deli. They all seem to have this issue where it seems like they want to do as little work as possible. When I tried to order cheese I was told to just take the pre-sliced stuff which I did not want, but you know I have no right to try to get what I order. Moving on to the sliced chicken I ordered next where the guy slicing it spent the whole time shaking his head and making faces. I only told him what I wanted and how much so I must have missed where I earned the attitude. To top this off it turns out that holding up a slice at the end from across the deli so I can only see the profile before asking "This good?" was not a good way to see if the slices were thick enough. I now have an expensive pile of paper thin chicken that does not peel off the stack so it's practically useless. Maybe if these folks find their job to be too inconvenient to do correctly it may be time for them to find new jobs. read more

A nice store but disappointed that the self-checkout registers are no longer open late. I usually stop by 2 or 3 nights a week after 10pm. I only have a small basket of items so it was easy to get in and out. Now they only have one or two regular registers open at that time, and I always get stuck in a line behind customers with full carts. I went in today at 8:30 pm. The store closes at 11. Workers already seem unhappy to see more customers coming in. As soon as I came up to the check out there was only one register open. There is always only one or two registers open when I come in. Always waiting in a long line even if I choose self check out with the miserable looking worker standing there watching you rig everything up. The woman who over sees the actual registers looks angry all the time or like she is judging you for walking into the line. Sometimes there is no bagger and you have to put your own groceries in your cart. But the thing that made me the most upset and more angry than anything about this particular location; you could walk in at 10:30 when they close at 11 and walk up to the register at 10:55, they will tell you they already closed the registers and cannot check you out. The employees will walk up and down isles telling customers to leave because they are closed. This exact situation happened with my boyfriend who went in for some items (many others went in after him). He and another customer argued with the "manager" saying they walked in before closing hours and were shopping when announcing the "20 and 10 minute warnings", and should rightfully be rung up to purchase their items. Market Basket literally lets customers walk in at 9:00 when they close, shop, and check out with nothing said to them at all. The fact that they had to argue with more than one person when they were checking out and telling customers to leave 15-10 minutes before they closed was horrible customer service. Especially when they are making the store money!? That with their over priced EVERYTHING... I would rather visit the gas station at 10:30 at night down the street for toilet paper than experience any of that again. read more
