Like many other brand grocery stores, some of the prices here were competitive, some were not. I stopped here to grab some BBQ staples and the prices were a bit higher than other places that I frequent. I am glad I checked the place out. I think my loyal MB are over, I've thrown out at least $100 worth of newly purchased food in the last 3-4 weeks I never had this problem. Deli Turkey not the brand I asked for I'm pretty sure the guy didn't want to open a new one so he grabbed anything open, organic strawberry's and peaches rotting in one day , MB brand sticks of butter are like candle wax they don't melt, MB raisin bread is like eating a plain rice cake no flavor and the texture is weird, Angus ground beef nice and pink until you get it home and its brown on the inside , pack of organic lemons I think I salvaged 2 out of the bag, MB bacon is all fat it used to my go to bacon, MB bakery muffins crumbled apart in my hand they used to be so moist but now it's a crumbled mess and twice the price. ...the list goes on. These were all items bought and used within 24 hrs . What is happening to MB is it just the Woburn location where I go it's awful the last couple of months and seems to be getting worse . read more

However, today, Feb 9, 2024, on the 20 items line, the cashier 0200255-Geny M, proved to have missed customer service and elementary school training. She keep complaining about the number of items in the carts. Another customer and myself, was wondering what she was talking about because of our carts were below 20. Then after having finished scanning all the items in my cart she still complain of the number of items, saying was 25. Then, thinking, she must have double charged me, because I only have 19 items, I checked my receipt, and still just 19 items... There is a young African American man working at the fish counter who is contaminating all the food!! He was mopping the floor with his disgusting bleach covered gloves, then proceeds to grab the fish with his disgusting, nasty, dirty gloves. Grossest thing I've ever seen from a Market Basket employee! When we asked him to change his nasty gloves, he actually argued and gave us attitude. The people who make the subs and sandwiches at the MB in Woburn are about as rude as they come! 11:45pm Monday, My husband and I tried to order 3 meatball subs and were told by the employee that they only had enough meatballs to make 1 and a half subs. Fine, not a big deal. But when we asked when there would be more meatballs she said "There won't be." So I continued by asking "like, not at all today?" And she snapped back with, "We are short staffed today so it will be at least a few hours before there's more meatballs if at all." I just find it odd that lunch hour had barely even begun and they were "out" of meatballs. I'm sure they only had to warm up one of the premade trays of them and bring them to the front. I might had even waited a while for them if there she had any desire at all to accommodate us. And as far as the short staffed bit, there were two women making the orders (standard staffing ratio) and a man standing around doing nothing. It's Market Basket or Duh-moolahs for the locals who remember apparently, so they've already got the name going for them. What to historically expect from MB? Low, low prices. What else to expect? Big, big crowds. Although I've been to about five other MB's, this one ends up being the most convenient being right off the highway, even though the Chelsea location is superior. Now, I've tried to get this down to a science and study when the smallest crowds are. Senior citizens do tend to be here in the afternoon but mornings during the week aren't so bad.....if you can pull it off. The weekends, you can almost forget it being less busy unless there is a storm. I once went in a hurricane knowing there would be less people there! Yes, I'm serious. So yup, even finding a parking spot at the lowly Woburn Mall can be troublesome at times. I still wonder where are all of those people spending their money.....they can't all be at MB, can they? I think that's often the case. AllzImsayin is, choose your time to shop wisely. Alright, I've ranted and raved long enough about getting in here, so lets visit the store. I tend to basket it up when I'm only spending in the $30 range if I can pull it off, otherwise the shopping cart makes me too frantic with the narrower isles and seas of people. Carts can be an experience and I always secretly wonder if I'm the only one who gets anxiety from this but few other things get me that nervous in life so it can't just be me. The prices and sales they have are simply unprecedented, hands down......and for that simple reason they take the cake for grocer-supremacy. Lemons that aren't a buck a piece, nice. Milk that isn't over $4? Butter for less than two-fiddy?? I mean, staples here are where it's at. And that's the problem, you've got families coming in and filling carts to the rim with essentials while fighting over the last pop tart that is on sale for $1.99. I love it and hate it at the same time. All jokes aside about the pop tarts, produce is my bread and butta. I tend to start along the perimeter and possibly even head to that section early on because I can fill up a basket easily with the selection to price ratio that MB just outdoes every other grocer. Apples, onions, peppers....you name it, they've got an amazing amount (if they aren't restocking as you buy, you've come at a super random time) and the prices are super low in comparison to what else is out there. I can remember getting lobster at four bucks a pound. Two pounds of squid for like five bucks. Random finds at random times, not only are the prices great but the selection for someone who likes to cook at home like me can get random, premium ingredients for rock bottom prices. Mystic Pizzas @ 3 for $10? Load up the caht!! Market Basket only end sup with a 4.5 rating for not being open later some nights! But it's still pretty close to perfection in my book. They can't control the crowds, they can only hope to contain them. read more

I JUST AGED 10 YEARS IN ONE VISIT. The absolute slowest sandwich makers ever. The line got huge and the guy making my sandwich just looked at it and continued making my sandwich at a speed so slow that i could not sustain it if i tried. The other sandwich maker woman was slow and also yapping non-stop with a customer she clearly knew personally. The customer kept turning around to the line saying they knew each other. Great, you discourteous slag, thanks for sharing. Maybe you could look at the line and consider wrapping up the convo so the sandwich woman could wrap up those sandwiches faster?? Its also on the employee to be mature enough to put the kibosh on the jibber jabber to actually DO HER JOB. She was middle aged and lacked this judgement. Both sandwich makers seemed to be in an opiod haze functioning at half speed. The cashier on express was so fucking slow. I wish i took video of how slow she swiped the items over the scanner. Youre on express with a line... ACT LIKE IT. A long time ago I worked as a supermarket cashier and when the line got larger, you increased your pace in the name of customer service to get the lines down. Well at this Carcass Casket they do the opposite. They look at the line, shrug and continue on at their leisurely pace. This Carcass Casket is garbage. Other locations are fantastic. This one is in the dumper. Even the fucking electric door on the way out was too fucking slow. I had to stop in my tracks and wait for it to open enough for me to get out. As odd as it seems, we only visit Market Baskets when we're away on vacations, picking up a few things for dinner when we get home. This one is large, very clean, and had a number of specials that we were able to take advantage of. Shopping at a Market Basket is always an adventure, and it's a bittersweet time as it means our time away from home is ending. The meats and produce aisles here were well-stocked, and there were plenty of check-out stations open so we didn't have to stand in line for a long time. All the workers were nice! But as soon as I walked through the door I noticed a worker (seemingly a manager) talking to an older worker. While I was getting a cart I overheard their conversation. He was asking her to help cover a shift from 9-6, and she asked if it could be 7-4 instead. His tone was passive aggressive, he didn't smile once, and he said "I don't NEED 7am, I need 9am covered". Which to me sounds stupid because if she worked 7-4 she would be there at 9am? But that's besides the point. He was being so rude to her, but maybe it was a misunderstanding so I brushed it off. When I was checking out, he came up to one of the workers at the register next to me and was talking to her. I overheard him saying "Well if you can't work, then you need to find coverage. There's nothing we can do" with that same passive aggressive tone. You can tell this teenage girl was anxious. Talking to your workers like this, especially younger workers is completely disrespectful. I almost confronted him myself. His name tag said "Justin 5 years" and he was wearing glasses. Great prices and good quality food. The parking lot here is a nightmare, it's too narrow, poorly laid out, and full of geriatric customers who shouldn't be behind the wheel. There's a knocked over stop sign that has been laying on the ground next to the store entrance for over a month. You'd think someone would have moved it or fixed it by now. The employees move at a snail's pace. It takes 15 minutes to get a sandwich made at the deli because each piece of meat and cheese needs to laid down individually. The employees in the checkout line move similarly slow and have poor attitudes. There's usually only one or two express lanes open and the lines are sometimes 10 customers deep. read more

This store is filled with WAY too many people. I don't know how many people notice as much as I do, but sometimes when you walk into a restaurant (or even a store), they will have a sign up saying something to the effect of "Maximum Occupancy" and then a number. Even though this store is large, when I went on Sunday, November 6, 2016, I REALLY think the amount of shoppers was more than should have been allowed in the store. The whole front aisle was completely like bumper cars, it was worse than the traffic on 128 at around 5pm on a Friday afternoon! Seriously! I was only buying a few things here so I didn't even get a cart (or a basket..... if they even have them?), and ended up just leaving because of the major chaos. Plus, the lines were all three or more people deep, I just did myself a favor by stopping at the Stop&Shop at the next exit. Seriously, very disappointing experience. I normally like Market Basket, but this area could use another one. I don't think I've ever seen any other store in the chain this jam packed! 2 stars. read more

Limited selection compared to other locations. Used their restrooms and was quite disgusted. One front employee comes in and uses the urinal while wearing his apron. Ok he doesn't handle food. 30 seconds later, a meat/deli clerk walks in with his APRON and uses the urinal as well. He actually handles the food and probably wipes his hands on his apron. I used to love shopping at this Market Basket! Was just there and purchased, and paid for reduced bananas that I need for a recipe for my granddaughter! It calls for very ripped bananas. Well when I got home in 90 degree weather, they were not in my bag. Ok so I called. I was told I could come in for a refund. Well I am not going to go back out for a 47 cent refund! The person who answered the phone was not going to even check for me. She did, not there . But what I can't understand, bought a Belgian waffle in the bakery and it expired On 7/16, today is the 21st. She said bring it back and we will give you a refund! Great customer service. If you haven't shopped here for a while, you should know they did a renovation in '09, and it's much more pleasant than it used to be, there is no longer that weird sawdust on the floor (what was that about?), and the place looks and smells much cleaner. I used to refuse to shop here because it was so dirty and disorganized but I have changed my mind since the latest renovation. They also redid the parking lot, which sounds minor but it was a big problem before. You still always seem to wind up parking pretty far away because the store is so busy and there's nothing they can do about the crazy pedestrians who fill their carts so full their groceries are falling out on the pavement! But at least they filled the potholes and the spaces are no longer angled, so you don't have the nightmare one-way rows. Nice job, Market Basket! It's the little things. The prices cannot be beat and the store is huge, so they have everything. The fish section is excellent, more variety and better prices than you usually find in a supermarket. The produce is well-priced, average quality. To the reviewer who said the shoppers made his skin itch: by all means spend your whole paycheck at a whole other kind of supermarket, where the people make you and your skin feel more comfortable. We're happy to have all to ourselves the prices and variety of ethnic Mexican, Middle Eastern, and Asian ingredients: pigs feet, naan, greek seasoning, sunflower oil. Plus, those marcal napkins with the drawstring wrapper that everyone else has stopped carrying? They still have them here! Lines are long, so it's not an in-and-out grocery. I mean you can actually go there (w/out taking a xanax) & shop like a normal person w/out getting caught behind a 3 cart train w/12 gallons of milk in the caboose. They also just remodeled & have a nice bakery w/free coffee. We tend to go up here on a sunday evening & do our weekly shopping rather than the crumb snatcher rat race of most other times. Seriously, what the hell were they thinking with the 437823748924 pedestrian crossings, street light that changes within seconds, and the blocked area of parking? It's like a fucking battle to get in AND out of there, no matter what day, or time. I like most of the selection there, but what's going on with the dairy/cheese aisle? The have only 2 brands of string cheese, and hardly anything else. Sometimes I have to go to S+S or Shaws to find the crap I can't find there. But then I'm getting ripped off by those capitalist fucks....not my idea of a good time. The store is also stacked shitty-the frozen section has different foods all jammed into several spots, so that when you're looking for something, you find 6767867867 other variations of it. This MB on the Lexington line was just rebuilt and is greatly improved. So, now like all MB's, here you get great prices on groceries--with a selection sans high-end stuff in a decent shopping environment. And the staff here is unusually friendly. I'm a little bit of a grocery store snob (I grew up with a mom who worked at, lived, and breathed Trader Joe's) so Market Basket's always been a little overcrowded and confusing to me. You can't beat the prices though, and the guy behind the deli is HILARIOUS! He always makes me laugh. Random deli patron: "Do you carry Boar's Head here?..." Guy behind the deli counter: "HA, no man. What do you think this is, STOP & SHOP?" I always get a half pound of proscuitto and it never lasts me longer than a couple days. I'm more of a piggie than my oversalted Italian deli meats. Anyway, if you're looking to go grocery shopping and aren't looking for any specialty items, always go to Market Basket (over Stop & Shop or Shaws/Star Market). They carry all the same stuff for better prices. If you're looking for cereal that isn't oversugared, or really anything that isn't oversugared/salted, go elsewhere. Their organic choices are slim. This review is for an awesome cashier named Rose. I went through her line on Sunday afternoon (12 and under check out) there was a very rude senior citizen in front of me. She was not only rude but just plain obnoxious! Rose handled the situation so calm and professional. She deserves employee of the century !! This is where I go for the bulk of my groceries nowadays. If you can get past the crowds, the prices are right and it's fairly clean. However, the quality of the produce has been a bit sub-par as of late: been having a rough time finding perfectly crisp/fresh lettuce of any kind. Move over $5 foot-long! A little over 5 bux for a huge customized sandwich, more than twice the size of a Subway foot-long. The cashiers are speedy and friendly for the most part. The Deli is hit or miss, depending on who you get. The ready-to-go sushi at the fish department is surprisingly good! The fish is OK... Can't go wrong with the live lobsters at their price. I'm a little hesitant on recommending the meat, especially the ground beef (a little "grey inside"). The bakery has some decent pastries... Cannoli are good.
