Here today! Stop and Shop is 1 of 2 of the common supermarkets I frequent on the East Coast, I get kick out of seeing the robot. According to the locals, Stop and Shop IS NOT economical. For me I DON'T CARE, everything is expensive up here EVERYTHING! I did find some items on sale I might add but again with traffic and attitudes I just simply put myself out of my misery and get ONLY what I need. Being that the East Coast is so costly to live in, it teaches me how be more mindful of waste. Anywho, the store is always clean and organized. Everything is put out thanks to the robot so if it's not on the shelves, they're out until the next delivery date. BRING YOUR OWN REUSABLE shopping bags! I kick myself every dang time I go grocery shopping and forget my shopping bags and have to purchase more. Let me tell you, I look so fancy when I bring my own shopping bags when I'm home in Texas because I have soooo many of them and I like to make people think I'm boogie by having them. Luckily, they're about $1 depending on style but AGAIN $1 is a lot of money when you have 20 or more of them already. Do I recommend Stop and Shop? Yeah! Never been a fan of this location in Woburn. This is strictly about the deli. Needed some cheese and cold cuts and it's on the way home so I decided to stop in against my better judgement. My land o lakes cheese ONCE AGAIN is the generic brand I even said "make sure it's land o lakes" and they give you imitation and charge more. The cheese was clearly cut on a dirty machine it had red on it what looked like roast beef juice. Asked for my turkey sliced thin it's shaved and falling apart . Both were thrown away but I blame myself because I've never once got a decent deli order here I should of gone to market basket. read more

This locations self check out is trash and they need to shut it down and just use registers until they get new systems. Other locations there's never issues. This location, elm st Woburn. One transaction there's always at least two or three issues ringing up about 10 items or less and you have to wait for attendant to help, then they fix one issue and then they're running over to another self check out because of course there's issues. Then you have another issue. Then you have to wait because they are busy with another person because the machine suck.. Shopping is supposed to be relaxing, you're excited about what you're gonna make for dinner. Then you have to deal with raging bullshit because the store is lazy and wants to use broken self check out. When I was a teenager, I was a cashier for Market Basket and I also was a cashier for Stop & Shop for two years. I know how to ring up items. So it's not me, it's clearly the systems at this location and it creates a very unpleasant shopping experience. To the point where I avoid this location at all cost now. read more

Stop and Shop Woburn. Another Sunday morning shopping and another miserable trip to the deli. The older woman that works there is absolutely miserable. I'm tired of feeling guilty because I want to get cold cuts. This woman who always stays in the back. She makes eye contact with you and turns away avoiding you. I'm the only one there. Today was not the first time I walked away. I understand they have other things to do also. But waiting on customers in a timely manner should be her highest priority. I got both of my son's birthday cakes here. They did a great job on the design, they were super cute. I also got a decent sized cake for a good price. The only issue is that they used SO much frosting. The cake itself was delicious, but the amount of frosting used was crazy. You know it's too much when even the children are complaining about it. Other than that, setting up the order and coming in to grab it was pretty effortless. The frosting would be my only complaint. Maybe use a little less next time. read more

If you want simple on/off access from the mother of all east coast interstates, S&S is a standard bearer for all that is generic and slightly overpriced when it comes to grocery shopping. Granted, I don't shop here for the wide selection or low prices but out of convenience at times. There is an access road that bodes well for where we live, driving right past the Middlesex Superior Court and Strega Prime.....which helps avoid that sometimes busy intersection light next to the Applebees off of Rt. 38. Go here once and you'll understand exactly what I mean. At least it's clean and the help has been ok at times. Once, I made a mistake in the self checkout line and the lady was almost yelling at me and blaming me for the issue in which she had to come over and resolve. I don't know why after scanning the item, it kept getting returned on the belt but the system was the one F'ing up, not me. I like the self checkouts because the other lines have been long at times but I've had constant issues with these machines and at least 50% of the time, it involves help being called. Produce selection can be spotty at times and did I mention, a bit overpriced? Why don't they sell alcohol here like the one in Malden, is that a town issue? I don't know but fix it FYI, there is a package store in the same plaza if needed. The general positives include a nice sized vegetarian section that my wife utilizes and the meat section is very plentiful. Props for having a Dunks inside but it's bizarre there is also a stand alone store less than 1/4 mile away from this location, a bit of overkill if you ask me. The Redbox selection is also usually decent and not depleted at like say, the Wegman's a few miles away. This place is average and doesn't get you overly excited to come back. We visit about once every two weeks but I don't think I've ever spent more than $50, it's more so to grab and go some items I need to make a dinner with and not plan an entire week's worth of meals for. read more

I like that the deli on every Tuesday, offers 15" long Boars Head sub for only $5.00. The sub is huge and gets me through 2 work day lunches. That's $2.50 for lunch! Not bad! read more

Had to go use the women's restroom while doing my Saturday food shopping. These bathrooms are deplorable. One was out of order. One had poop on the seat, other one had diarrhea not flushed. Meanwhile there was an old beat up soap container with one inch of WATERED DOWN soap. Toilet paper was also all over the place. Disgusting to think the employees (who handle food) likely use these restrooms as well. read more

I was reminded this morning why I try to avoid this location. 7:15am and there were 12 shopping carts rolling around the parking lot, the store opens at 6am. Inside I waited at the deli counter for almost 10 minutes while the the employees got organized, finished chewing the fat and got around to their customers. It's a shame because it's a big clean well stocked store unfortunately employing uninterested personnel. Outside, there were 3 employees smoking while observing the empty shopping carts coming close to slamming into customer's cars. Hard to fathom their indifference. read more

Went in on a Friday evening to buy a couple items. I was in line longer than I was in the store. Get to the front of the line a see a worker named Simran standing there texting!! Are employees allowed to text on duty? I said to the lady behind me "must be nice to have time to text when the line is stretching nearly to the back of the store". Simran didn't care for this comment and started giving me a hard time. Is it store policy to argue with guests/customers? I wasn't even speaking to her. Many other customers witnessed this as well. To sum up - Poor attitude, long lines, surley Simran, a terrible experience all around. Shaws is cleaner, Wegmans - cleaner. Stop and Shop is going to lose my business over this. Ohhhhh you got a fancy supermarket dont ya? Well it seems like any of the major chain places here in so cal. Some general rules from them apply here quite a bit: * no club card = way way overpriced * wouldnt buy non sale items... * w/sales decent pricing * friendly and helpful staff The checker definitely helped me by popping in a card number for me so that I didnt have to sign up for their club card that I would never be able to use. Way to go =) Overall though it seems like they have some great produce and meats, however other than drinks and snacks I wasnt looking for anything special as we were on vacay. The pricing of the non sale items ensured that I bought nothing that wasnt on sale. It honestly seems like it was price gouging. However the stuff that was on sale was reasonable or excellently priced. So take it for what it is. I even came in just before 9 on a sunday and the store was pretty clean. The store was well organized also. So in the end I got a few sales items at a great price but otherwise I realized up front it wasnt worth it. Being I was on vacay, I wasnt doing a big shopping trip anyways but some drinks to toss in the fridge or have for in the car as we drove around new england was extremely important. read more

I don't know what happened to this place. Just a few months ago I had no problems, but the quality has declined a lot recently to the point where I don't even want to shop here anymore. It is both under-staffed and under-stocked, especially in the produce department (how do you run out of tomatoes in the summer?). They seem to keep products on the shelf as long as possible (I can never find eggs or milk more than a few days away from their sell-by dates). I've even bought chicken before the sell-by date, just to open it at home and find that it is rotten and rancid smelling, as if it had been left out on the counter for a day. There are never enough cashiers, and you'll often see long lines at their two open registers, while the managers and other employees wander around doing nothing. I had kept coming here for convenience, since it is close to me and open late, but I can't see myself coming here anymore. While Market Basket isn't quite as convenient for me, it is only a few more minutes away and infinitely better run. read more

Went to Stop & Shop Sunday night to pick up one thing. Got to the store at 8:54pm and the door doesn't open. I say something to the employee out front about the door, to which they replied with some of the worst attitude I've heard in awhile "we closed". I said oh it says you're closed at 9pm, just need to grab one thing...and again same rude reply as before."well we closed" then walked away. This is my neighborhood supermarket. Even though the prices are not rock-bottom, they are competetive if you pay attention to the sale flyer and get a S&S card which gives you discounts and gas rewards over time. Products The produce is quite good, it used to be just average but they have improved a lot. It's very fresh and they have quite a few organics now. There is also a salad bar. There's a funny little "ghetto" of health food in the corner by the produce where they have a parallel universe of gourmet or vegetarian snacks, tea, frozen food, cereal, and dairy, right next to the produce. I think those things should be integrated into the rest of the store to make it easier to find them. I'm not sure what they're afraid will happen if they let that gourmet stuff mix with the indigenous groceries! It's a "Super" S&S so they have a large selection of non-food items, especially books, kitchenware, seasonal junk, lightbulbs, plants, health and beauty. They need a little more attention and variety in the seafood and prepared foods department. Convenience A Dunkin Donuts and Citizens Bank are right in the store, also the red box videos. This store is clean and spacious and so it's easy to navigate and get in and out quickly if you just need a can of soup. There's a liquor store a couple of doors down. The service is very good, the kids there will help you find stuff, or find someone to help you pretty quickly. read more

Pretty good Stop&Shop. I'm contemplating between 4 & 5 stars, but feel that this store's selection, layout, and size all contribute to a 5 star rating. I DO want to add in that it was VERY disappointing to see last night, that a. My receipt said "2 Elm Road, Woburn MA 01801". INCORRECT! It should be "2 Elm STREET, Woburn MA 01801". and b. Price Accuracy Guarantee valid throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is not posted at *ANY* of the checkout registers, and by state law, it must be posted at *EVERY* checkout register (including self checkout). Both small, little things that I spoke with the manager about, who by the way was extremely friendly and assured me the issues would be fixed. (which is why this store receives 5 and not 3 stars). Anyway, for the amazing qualities of the store: First, the store is newer, and remodeled in a stylish, attractive way that makes buying food, feel good (nothing worse than buying FOOD in a dirty store), and this store is not only average, but over average, being recently remodeled. Second, they have many self checkout registers and many full-service checkout registers open. Unlike other places (like Walmart). Third, the store carries more than other Stop&Shops, has a full Nature's Valley section, Pharmacy, and a Dunkin Donuts inside. Finally, Kate, working at self-checkout last night (November 6,2015), is a gem! She is so friendly, kind, helpful, and efficient helping me at the self checkout register. Great service to end an overall good trip. Hope those small, little problems are fixed by my next visit, or else this review is changing to 3 stars. If i could give this place a minus number i would. Whenever i go into this place and use their self check outs none of them work. They keep giving these errors and then i have to wait until nobody comes. I tried complaining to the Manager that was a waste of time now i see why this store is awful. They just revamped the store layout and added a whole floral dept. which is really nice. As othe reviews have mentioned, their seafood section still leaves a lot to be desired. Also, keep an eye on your receipt - I have been overcharged 3 times (though I caught the errors later and customer service did give me my money back). The gourmet food section is still completely divided from the rest of the store, and no one ever is shopping in this area and I think I figured out why: I bought 3 very expensive yogurts (nearly $3 a piece for the small containers) and discovered that they were a month past their expiration date! You pay more vs. Market Basket BUT Stop n Shop's coupon policy is superior to Market Basket's so it all evens out and you don't have to worry about the grocery battlefield that is Market Basket. read more

*DO NOT* try to order ONE THING from the deli at 9:42 pm on a week night unless you want to be confronted by a rude employee who is clearly put out by your request. The amount of attitude both verbal and non verbal was through the roof with the man sighing very loudly upon seeing us standing at the deli, the tone of voice used to say he was trying to close and throwing up his hands in the air upon us asking for the order. The deli closes at 10pm..... I called today to check. I left a very bad and unfair review of this store, couple months ago. I feel like I was WAY off base. And just being paranoid that time. I probably overheard stuff that WASN'T even about me. An I assumed wrongly. My apologizes for that. Actually the last several several times I had to stop in there, with my friend. Workers were very nice. And seemed rather helpful. There's a very friendly 20s or 30s something blonde gal. Who every once in a great while, me & my friends get. Think she been working there a while. But anyways she's very friendly and courteous. A real professional at her job. An other workers seen other times, seemed nice. So I def can say my bad review from 2 months ago, should be DISREGARDED. This is a good store. With good items and good stock. And workers / managers there, aren't rude or grumpy, like I thought before. That was just in my head. Perhaps I was just sour grapes that other time, 2 months ago!? I have been coming here for five years and the bottle return is always dirty and machines are not working properly. Unless you like ringing yourself up, no matter how large your order is, DO NOT BOTHER COMING HERE. On the evening I came in, they had exactly ONE cashier working, and the line for that register was a mile long. Meanwhile, every other register was set up as a self-serve, and I'm sorry but I DON'T WORK FOR THIS COMPANY, so don't force me to ring my entire order up by myself. When I come in to buy groceries, I want the cashier to most of the work for me (maybe unless I have just an item or two). Horrible customer service. Stopped in for one item. Rang up incorrectly at the cash register. The kid working there started arguing with me that the tag on the item was not the correct price and that it was actually more expensive. No you're not reading that wrong, this actually happened. I took the item over to their "solution center." Waited in line for about 15 more minutes. Finally I get someone who does ring it up for the right price. I told him why does it take 15 minutes for me to get something for the correct price. She basically told me she doesn't care she just got here and it's not her fault. Management and ownership need to train their staff better. read more

Bait and switch seems to be standard operating procedure at this store. Sale prices marked on shelves do not ring up properly at the register. Either the management is computer-illiterate or just doesn't care. I'm sure they make a nice profit off the 90% of people who don't check their receipts. As this Stop n' Shop is under 60 seconds from my house, it's a no brainer as to where to purchase my groceries. Unfortunately, I have only ever had subpar experiences. When purchasing my coffee, I didn't even receive a simple "hello" or "how are you", just a disgruntled "what do you want" and an eye roll when I ordered a coffee. I can get over that. What really ruined this shopping trip was when I was spending over $100 at the register and Gladys, my cashier, did not say "hello" or "how are you?" either! She then continued to be very passive aggressive throughout the rest of the transaction. And when I pulled my card prematurely, she scoffed at me! I am not a pleased customer to say the least. These are simple fixes. I would rather take my business to Market Basket over 10 minutes away. Please teach your staff how to interact better with your guests. read more

The service always top notch, and I have never had to wait in a line with more than 2 people in front of me here. Let me just start off by saying that I'm a pretty thrifty shopper. I've pinched a penny or two in my day, so I typically eschew Stop & Shop for my local Market Basket. One little problem though: Market Basket's deli meats are really bad, and Stop & Shop has Boar's Head. As they say, "compromise elsewhere." So I've been getting my regular groceries from Market Basket, but then hitting up Stop & Shop for sliced turkey and such. Last time I went though I made the mistake of passing by the dessert counter at Stop & Shop and noticed they had a brownie cheesecake for sale. Now for me or anyone else who knows their way around a cheesecake and a deal won't have to think twice before snapping one up for the low price of $6.99. Well little did I know, when I cut into the thing, it was about 5% cheesecake and 95% cheap brownie cake. Just who do they think they are? To say I was cheesed off would be an understatement. It really is disgraceful to show legitimate cheesecake with some little brownie swirls on a very thin top layer, and give off the implicit suggestion that the whole cake is similar throughout when in actuality the 1/16 inch sliver on the top (the only part that you can see) is essentially the only part that's actually cheesecake. I will say though, for what it is (NOT cheesecake) it's still pretty good. I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that I even went back and bought another one. So much for principles. Now I don't like to give ratings, but if this were the "X-Factor" and I was Brittany Spears, and as part of my contract with the show I had to give a rating, I would give this Stop & Shop a 6.6/10. read more
