This is my go-to grocery store when I'm visiting my mom. It's where I can get fresh, healthy, and unique food items. It has everything I could want. Large assortment of fresh produce, aisles of fun goodies, and a wonderful bakery. We purchased a raspberry cake for my mom's birthday and it was fantastic! Fresh buttercream frosting on top and so many buttercream surprises throughout the layers of cake too. Juicy fresh raspberries on top too. Everything is organized really well. It's aesthetically pleasing and easy to walk through. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking. Just shop here. You won't regret it. read more

I've been shopping here regularly for the last 5 years, and have become familiar with a lot of the staff. It's always the same people helping us in each of the departments. It's kind of nice to see a familiar face. Everything here is quite a bit more expensive, but you're paying for the convenience of a nicely curated selection of fresh goods. Over the years we have really grown fond of just about everything that has come out of the in-house bakery. One thing that I both love and hate about this place is the rotating selection of unique foods/ brands. A lot of my favorite foods are things I've picked up from here in curiosity, but was never able to pick up here again. I love trying new things, but I hate how much effort it takes to find them elsewhere if I ever want them again. Each time I ask about getting stock of something that was previously stocked regularly for years, it falls upon deaf ears. One lady working there finally told me that sometimes it's up to the distributor what they end up with. Every now and then I have to dig through the fresh produce to find *truly* fresh produce. The worst are the strawberries and the zucchini - buyer beware. What sparked me writing this review today is an interaction that I had today that really left a sour taste in my mouth. I came in to order a custom cake for a surprise birthday party. The lady at the bakery is so patient and I always appreciate her help finding the perfect cake for the occasion. After figuring out what I wanted, I had to pay for the custom cake, which I fully expected. I take the slip to the register and on the way grab a slice of tiramisu (my favorite) and a pack of candles for the surprise party. I pay for the items, the cashier staples the receipt to the cake slip and asks me to take it back to the bakery. She puts these flashy orange "PAID" stickers on my slice of cake and on the candles. I return the slip with receipt to the bakery, and I go to leave the store. An older man in a blue Market Fresh polo follows me out to the parking lot asking me if I had a receipt for the cake and the candles. I explain that, following their process, the receipt was left in the bakery with my order slip for the custom cake. I showed him the stickers on the slice of cake and candles. He mumbled something that I couldn't hear, but he clearly did not believe me. We both sat there awkwardly for a second before he walked away. I just checked my credit card app and this weirdness cost me $54.75 and now I'm not sure I want to come back here. This could have been handled so much better - maybe print two copies of the receipt if you're going to keep one? The normal security guards that they have out front are much nicer than this. read more

I'm seeing a lot of four stars from people without any complaints and I believe if you don't have any why not give them a five star, instead you're just dragging their rating down. The pre cooked food section has delicious choices and the soups are also restaurant quality. The workers are nice and always make sure you are having a pleasant experience. I love this store. The bakery... whew! Best of Both Worlds or Strawberry torte cake for all special occasions. Their produce, deli, and meats are super fresh also. I had a major incident with Danielle last year and nothing has changed. Furthermore, I was at Market Square today on 14 Mile and Southfield Road, which I also shopped at frequently, and was treated like garbage by the owner's son, Laith, today after I complimented him on the excellent specialty foods at this location and he brought up an incident from 7-8 years ago. That was the last straw and I will never go back. I advise everyone in the Jewish Community to stop shopping here, they don't like us, yet tolerate us for money and business sales It's a sad state of affairs when I compliment the owner's son, Laith, a compliment and he brings up an issue that was due to his inept bookkeeping staff at both locations. This is a sad ending with these 3 stores as my late parents were their best customers in the West Bloomfield store before they even had a free-standing store in West Bloomfield. Well, when the treatment of a customer from an owner is rude and out of context, it is time to move on. I suggest Papa Joe's as a better alternative. Much better service, specialty foods, real seafood spread, not fake like Market Fresh and market square, and no expired food in the dairy, cheese, and fruit section, etc., and less aggravation. This is a nice little place intimate market and a one off here in BH. I like to stop by here as well on my way home. They have a great produce area, always fresh and well organized too. They have a nice pastry and baked goods section and a nice meat market too. I have always had good service here as well. Something about the smaller markets that makes me feel more at home and at ease. It's stressful going to bigger box stores with massive amounts of aisles and registers and feels cold somehow. I prefer to do most of my weekly shopping at smaller places like this store. read more

Food and produce are expensive and in my opinion, is nothing special or unique to justify the price. I feel the same things can be found at other places at a cheaper price.  The dessert section is what I really wanted to praise though. I often buy cakes for different occasions from Market Fresh and have never been disappointed. I especially like their strawberry shortcake. On September 16, 2023, I ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday. The cake was paid for and scheduled to be pick up on 9/22/23 at 8:00 a.m. I called the bakery and was told the cake was ready, and I could pick the cake up anytime that day. I arrived at the store at 12:30 p.m. and they were unable to find my cake. It took them over 30 minutes to find the cake. My daughter's brunch reservation was cancelled due to the bakery putting the cake under the wrong name. I spoke with managers Rich & Danny and they stated there was nothing they could do. I called to speak to the owner Lace on 9/23/23, and he has not responded. This is the absolute worst customer service and no one cares!!! read more

Every time I come here the service is a bit worst than last time. 2 cashiers working while multiple employees standing around talking laughing and looking at long lines. The cashier I'm waiting on is currently talking horribly about management saying he's only here for his sisters. Complaining about how he can't afford to live off what they're paying him. (He's a full grown adult). I wouldn't care except he can't multitask and is pausing to make his complaints to an old lady. So I guess I'll wait until he finishes his therapy session. read more

We live very close, so I appreciate having such a great market nearby. Their deli has yet to disappoint, with unique pre made offerings that are great for a family BBQ. Their meat counter is really good, lots of solid offerings, some of which I've never seen anywhere else (chicken/feta/spinach burgers). We have loved the selection of beer and liquor, too. Produce is always fresh and great... The cut mangoes!!!!! Yummmmmm. Would love the aisles to be a smidge wider, and for there not to be so many "impulse" stands placed everywhere, which you have to deftly maneuver around. Staff is always helpful and friendly. I'm going to tell you my long story about my experience with market fresh. Like many, it was a convenient location, and I could usually find that couple of things I needed to make a soup or a salad. However, I have vowed to never go there again. There have been times that someone on the staff has been kind enough to tell me where something is located, or even greeted me at the register, but the rude encounters far outweigh the pleasant. Here is the story of the last straw. A couple weeks ago, I found myself in a pinch for lunch, so I stopped to get something from their salad bar. I went down the line and picked up five or six salads and some greens. I kept it light, since those things can really add up to an expensive meal. My total was around $7. When I got where I was going, I excitedly began eating the various prepared salads in my box. I became suspicious of one of them, as the tomatoes and cukes were soft and somewhat translucent-looking. The taste was "off," and I decided it would be smart to stop eating it. There's absolutely no way it had been made fresh that day. It was definitely several days into being turned. I was disappointed, since I had only gotten through about a quarter of my lunch. My plan was to stop by and return it on the way to my next appointment. The first cashier I encountered listened, looked at the salad, and claimed that they were all made daily, and there was nothing wrong with it. She told me that I should take only one salad in each container. That would have required me to stack up five small, plastic containers in a wasteful tower. I always love placing my salad bar items in one box, like most normal humans. Not given any sort of answer to my request to have my money refunded, she simply pointed to another woman and told me to go talk to her. She was even worse. She was some sort of manager, and after analyzing the contents of my box and telling me that it looked fine and I should never put more than one salad with another, I told her that I know when something is spoiled, and I simply wanted my money back. She silently put it on the scale and told me that I was getting $4.64 back. I said, No no, the salad cost $7. She said, well, you ate some of it, so you get back what's left. I kept my cool, but I also kept my resolve to retrieve the full amount. She silently opened the register and gave it to me, and then she reminded me that I shouldn't put the foods together, at which point I told her that wouldn't be necessary. I just would never come back again. No response. No attempt to make things right. Just fine to lose a customer who's been coming there for years. How hard, really, is it to be pleasant?? read more

A local fave. Been going here for years but had never checked in! I go here primarily for their meats. Great meats. Lots of specialty items and top notch fresh fruit and veggie area. This is a good little market for things you need real quick. It's Spendy. But they have a great selection if fresh produce, including organic produce. I love this grocery store! Everything is super clean and fresh! Sure it is a bit pricey but I believe you get what you pay for. If you look for quality and freshness this is your spot. All of their premade foods look amazing although I havent tried them yet so I cant give my opinion on them. They have this mango pico and its delicious, I highly recommend! All the employees are very helpful and knowledgeable! They all jump to your aid if you look confused. The store also has a pretty good wine selection and a very knowledgeable wine guy. In shock and very displeased with one of the employees for disrespecting a veteran in front of my eyes. He was buying a bottle of wine along with some groceries, he looked in his late 20s. The cashier asked for his ID and then asked another employee, Amelia, to verify it was him. She took the ID from the cashier and said, "That's not you. Smile." He didn't say much and she gave him back his ID. Then while bagging groceries she proceeded to complain about how tired she was. My jaw dropped. He looked of age and was wearing a marines jacket. Very disrespectful and rude over a bottle of red wine on a Friday evening for a nice gentleman who served our country. Some people should be more observant and think before they speak. That was rude. I've lived in the area almost 10 years. Every so often I will stop going to Market Fresh, sometimes for years at a time, and mostly because of the poor customer service. Over the years I've come across spoiled meat, bad seafood, and even saw a mouse in the store on 2 separate occasions. Again, which all caused me to stop shopping here for a while. When the Kroger on Woodward and 13 closed I began coming here again occasionally, then more frequently after COVID-19. Even during COVID, sometimes they don't have the cart wipes out, person in charge of spraying carts barely touches carts w/spray (she seems like such an unhappy camper), and there is no system so customers mixi used carts in with sprayed carts. Customer service still has NOT IMPROVED!!! It is the worst! There is one short dark haired, slightly younger manager who is accommodating and friendly. The others all look angry to have the position and are not polite or accommodating when the return is because of something lacking from Market Fresh. They make you feel like you are inconveniencing them instead of them inconveniencing you with a return to the market! If you get to the market several minutes before closing, they make you feel like you are there to rob the place! Why is there such a high turnover rate ALL THE TIME, especially with the people of color who work there? It's as if they are constantly getting rid of the friendly people. Giving a 3 star because I love the produce here. I just moved out here from the East. My aunt that's 64 years old made me aware of this place today so I can know where to grocery shop. Well, today my aunt said thank you the the cashier with curly hair and about the same complexion as myself (light skin) closest to the door register, she told my aunt "mhm" instead of thank you. The only reason I did not react the way I wanted to for being rude, I'll be doing the most and reaching out to every resource until this is fixed. What can I say except your customer service is awful! And that extends to your management - specifically Danielle. You see when you blame your customer for your service problems (as you did tonight), nothing about the rest of the store matters. It should come as no surprise that the store was almost empty at 7 PM on a Friday night. Saying I was going to write a review on Yelp about my experience with your establishment doesn't mean that I was threatening you. It means that a consumer can use this fantastic medium to share the good and the bad about your business. This crazy scene all started when I was trying to purchase some Greek Chicken Breasts and asked the clerk if you had the cold garlic sauce. He said he had no idea. So I walked fifteen feet to my left and saw it in the next deli case. Instead of helping me, he just walked away to the next customer. No one came back to help me so I left my chicken on the deli counter. Sounds like lousy customer service to me, but Danielle seems to think that it was my fault when I told her about it. She also seemed to think that I needed to confront the clerk myself. My reaction to all of this? I walked out of the store and went to your competition. That simple. All of Danielle's emotions and claims were a waste. A minor situation ended up in a lost customer and a lousy shared review. How's that for crazy? read more

I stopped here for a few things on my lunch break as I didn't have time after work. The market was well stocked with beautiful produce and quality meat and seafood. The staff was incredibly helpful and *bonus* Starbuck's in one stop! So why the two stars? Much like EVERYTHING on the "West side" they are out of their minds with pricing. On the east side we have several gourmet markets competing for business. You know walking through the front doors of such a place that you're going to be paying a premium for quality items you can't find anywhere else but Fresh Market enjoys bending you over without the courtesy of a reacharound. By way of example, I needed 5 lbs of ricotta. Fresh Market was $4.99 a pound!! Vince & Joe's by my house is $1.99. I have no problem paying for quality but seriously? There are not that many different brands of ricotta imported in MI and Fresh Market is charging more than double? REALLY FRESH MARKET??!! read more

Disgusted!!! We have shopped here before and it's a pretty expensive little market. However my husband picked me up sushi for lunch and it was 2 days old! I returned to exchange it and was given cash back without an option to exchange. I barely got an apologize. Then I went to the back of the store to replace my lunch. All the sushi was over a day to 2 days old, with a side above them stating made daily. I found the manager to pull the old food. He was unapologetic and stated its was from An outside company. Very upset I almost ate it and he seemed like he could careless. It fact I felt like I was bothering him to pull the dated products they were still trying to sell.
