Great dinner at this trendy restaurant!! Reservations are a good idea because it's small. We had them and were seated immediately. Good cocktail menu. My friend is pregnant and asked for a mocktail...they have a choice of two and the one she received was very good. I had the lamb burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was excellent! A block of feta on it!! The fries were ok. I'd order them well done next time. A little limb. My friend had the Halibut with rice. Very good. We had the crispy shrimp and calamari app. Perfect!! Enjoyable place to visit especially on a nice warm day when they have it opened up. The flow of fresh air makes this a nice destination. The bar tenders and wait staff have been very kind and attentive even when quite crowded over the years. I enjoyed the pizza for a reasonable price and they offer a variety of beers on tap. read more

I've been here a few times. In general the service is poor. Last time I came I was seated and never addressed over the course of 15 minutes, so I ended up leaving. The food is mid and drinks are mid as well. They sell an ambiance but the service doesn't match it. read more

Solid, albeit not outstanding spot. I can't quite tell if it's trying to be casual or upscale, or if it's more of a bar or more of a restaurant. It's a good spot to visit with friends, but it didn't necessarily give me "date" vibes -- hope that helps, but maybe I just made you as confused as I am. That said, the thin crust pizzas are yummy (the Diavolo is my favorite) and the cocktails are decent and not overpriced for the area. Service was good. So, I'd likely be back, just not sure for what occasion... read more

Market rocks. Have had many menu items over the years with favorites being any of the pizzas, the chicken wings, and the star of this review, the milanese chicken sandwich. This is one of the greatest sandwiches I've ever had. Perfectly cooked fried chicken (healthy portion size too) on this pizza bread. Add some cheese and dressed greens and you got yourselves an amazing sandwich. Go to Market. Order some wings (partial to cajun) and get the milanese chicken sandwich. You can thank me later. read more

Came here around 6:45pm on a Tuesday and we were able to be seated immediately. Place is very cute and was buzzy even on a weeknight. Service was friendly and the pacing of the food was perfect, our mains came out just as we were wrapping up with our appetizers. We split a few dishes, starting with the chopped salad and the house bread. House bread is realistically a bit overpriced at $9 but everything else was very reasonable. Salad was good but a bit one-dimensional. We also got the cauliflower (decent, but missing something - a squeeze of lemon could have gone a long way). The buttermilk chicken sandwich ($19) was delicious but the fries were just okay. Portions of everything were large. Bill was very reasonable. I probably wouldn't rush back for any of the food, to be honest, but the vibes were nice. Maybe a good spot for a drink/app before getting dinner elsewhere. read more

I've had Market North End on my list of "must check out" since we moved here, and it's been nearly 2 years and I finally remembered and I'm kicking myself for not going sooner! This place is a GEM!!! We ventured in on a quiet Thursday, our first restaurant of 2025! I was so excited because my dad was in town for the holidays and I really wanted to take him somewhere phenomenal. All the reviews were SPOT ON and did NOT disappoint. We were instantly greeted by the poshest front desk hostess (so immaculately dressed in the cutest Sherpa moto jacket - I was smitten the moment I saw her) who was so warm and inviting. I came in with my two kids first (my husband and father joined us later) and she instantly sat us away from the crowds and in an intimate nook so my kids were free to roam and play while we waited for our food. So considerate. Our waiter was equally as friendly and so attentive! I forget his name but he had the kindest smile and was so adorable! He had the best food recommendations for us, and everything he suggested was fantastic. Despite going back and forth on what dish to order, I didn't feel rushed and he was very patient with our two kids and their raucous energy. Now, the FOOD!! Dear sweet baby Jesus - it was all AMAZING. We had the calamari w/ shrimp and please do NOT sleep on this app. The marinara sauce was delicious enough to drink. And the calamari was perfect and not rubbery at all. The shrimp was a nice surprise. We also had the Brussels sprouts and the sweet and spicy sauce was a nice balance. My kids ordered the Detroit style pizza (half pep and cheese) and - dare I say - it was even better than Buddy's my kids were blown away. I had the crispy chicken sandwich (although I hate fried chicken, weird I know) I was compelled to order it because the description was so tempting. I wasn't disappointed! So tender and juicy, and there was a slight honey aftertaste that I still can't stop thinking about. My husband had the lamb burger that was cooked to perfection and so delicious. My father had the trout with the avocado slaw. Seriously - we had ourselves a MEAL, ya'll. I'm still thinking about it. We will definitely be returning. The combination of stellar service and excellent food will keep Market North End at the top of our "go to" restaurant list forever. Had a good experience at the market. It was packed when my friend and I arrived on a Wednesday evening but we got a table right away somehow. The atmosphere was very loud, and it's only Wednesday, so I can only imagine how the weekends could get. If you want a quiet evening, my guess is, this isn't the place. My friend and I shared Brussels sprouts, a Caesar salad, a pizza, and chocolate butter cake. Pizza had sooo much flavor. The cake was moist, buttery and warm. Sweet but not too sweet. Never had a bad experience. Everything is amazing from the pizzas to the pastas to the salads. Apple walnut salad and watermelon salads are my fav, but all are great. Busy atmosphere and nice ambiance. Great service and staff. read more

It has been a hot minute since I was here and I'm not sure why I've been away so long! Food truly blew me away for the price point- some of the newer Birmingham spots have me expecting to be gouged for just OK food but I ordered the Branzini and it was fab! ($40 at Mex, $25 here) You should NEVER skip the bread service ($9 and sooooo worth it) but here are a few other surprises: Garlic Soup (comes out looking like French onion only prettier) was so good my friend said she's coming back just for that! Watermelon, feta & mint salad meant for sharing but finished solely by me! Tuna app can be a meal! Oh my goodness, this place is so good! I think this is our favorite place my partner and I have discovered since moving to Michigan. On our first visit we were there on a Friday evening and were just going to have cocktails. We were seated at the bar, and were having such a fun time talking to people, including the great bartenders, that we decided to order dinner. I am so glad we did! We have been back two more times, and every time has been wonderful. It does get very busy later at night, but that makes it even more fun to me. Highly recommended! read more

Delicious, refreshing lunch at this spot juts away from the heart of Birmingham. Went with a friend and we ate outside. We started with the bread service - which was very tasty. And then had the chopped salad which hit the spot. Plus left overs for tomorrow as the amount was plentiful. The patio was great. The service was friendly but not timed quite right. Born and raised down here, I was excited to be back although so much of Bham has changed. Waahhh!! We walked in yesterday to grab a quick bite. Sat for 15 minutes before we were acknowledged. Yes they were busy for a Thursday at 3:30-4 but we were at a table that everyone walked passed- in the way-- if you will. I think that soured me. I seen 6 different servers and a manager and not one stopped to see if he had been helped. Nonetheless, finally ordered. House bread was best. Nothing comes out hot, just warm. The speed that which they came, coupled with the warmth of my dishes-- they had to be done in large batches and kept under a warmer. Nothing seemed fresh if that makes sense. Another thing, this is Birmingham I expect the restaurant to be kept up. The restaurant is dated and the baskets they have as lights are all askew. There is one to the right of the bar that was literally like a spot light on someone. But don't worry, they keep the place darker so.. All this for $100. Thanks but no thanks. read more

Food has just gone down hill over the years. We ordered fries that must have been sitting out because they were completely stale. Cute little restaurant & bar in the heart of downtown Birmingham. This little restaurant is pretty cool. They offer a great bite to eat and drinks to make for a great evening with your significant other or a group of people. It's pretty dark in here, but the ambience lighting makes it look pretty cool inside. The restaurant seems like a narrow hallway but it goes back pretty far. We've been in here a few times in the evenings and it gets pretty jammed after 7pm, so plan accordingly! It'll get really loud too inside. read more

It is absolutely mandatory to make a reservation otherwise you will wait over an hour for a table. The food is very good however it is small inside and very loud and dim. The service is not rushed which makes it nice for catching up with friends. read more

Met up with a friend and enjoyed our dinner. Started with the calamari which was fried nicely and had spicy peppers. The Otto pizza was also very good with leeks, goat cheese and mushrooms. It has very good flavor and a nice crust. The mushroom pasta was a special and very flavorful. The one downside, is we wished the portion was a little bigger. I liked the decor and was popping on a Thursday night. Our server was very personable and helped by making suggestions on what she preferred and was very attentive the whole time. We went here for a friend's birthday outing. We sat outside which was nice! It was a little cramped but not a problem. Our server was so nice and thoughtful. We tried a few things for the table: house bread, garlic chicken soup, chick pea soup, kale salmon salad, and arugula potatoes. We also tried the strawberry fields cocktail and the server suggested to me a blueberry mule mocktail. Everything tasted great. We also had a surprise cake for a friend that we asked if they could keep in the back. We will definitely recommend this place to others. read more

I've been a few times, and this last time it was just okay for me. The seating with the warm spring breeze was amazing. Our waitress was very good as well...but those were the highlights. I got a dip, but apparently, the dip does not come with anything (I mean anything) to dip in it. So you have to get the $8 bread, which was good but literally just one large piece of pita-ish bread. I also got Brussel sprouts, which were covered in sweet chili oil, maybe like 1 cup. If the oil was drizzled on, it would have been good but sweet Lord it was a lot. My friend got the chicken, which had been cooked within an inch of disintegration. The waitress took off the chicken, as well she should have. It was just ok for me. The drinks looked good...maybe that's where it ends. read more

Terrible bartenders here. Went in and my friend ordered a mojito, it was absolutely disgusting. My friend isn't one to send a drink back, but she absolutely had to. I got their watermelon margarita and it wasn't good either. Weird hipster place with nasty drinks. read more

5 stars across the board!!!! From ambiance, to service, to the food, everything here give an excellent Birmingham experience. A good friend and I decided to come here in a Saturday evening with no reservation. Upon arrival for two, our wait was 40 mins but the table was ready for us in 15 mins! I unfortunately didn't get any photos because we were starved but it was a vegetarian night, so we had Brussels sprouts, roasted cauliflower, and fries, and a few drinks and it was chefs kiss. Second time visiting in the last month. Lunch menu differs from dinner menu. Tried the oysters ($3 each) and lamb burger. Fries were dry, which was disappointing. Had a Duvel to drink. Friend enjoyed the square brick oven pizza. Other friend had a handful of veggie sides and house bread. The house bread looked delicious. Street parking was easy to obtain. I have been here so many times in the last few yrs.. I gotta tell you it is one of BHAMS BEST!! Great service... Always greeted by the most sweetest, fashion hostess "Lisa"she's a smiling breath of fresh air! The food is always fresh & consistently delicious!! There are a lot of great pepperonis in the area. The doneness was great. It wasn't over- or undercooked. The flavor was good, but not, as some have said, amazing. In both cases, the crust was limp and soggy, NOT chewy and crispy. Not in the least. I don't mind if it's a little bit floppy, but not like this. An analogy I might give is to compare Tomatoes Apizza to Modern Apizza in actual New Haven is like comparing Jets Pizza to Loui's. Jet's is fine, but Loui's! (If you know, you know). To me, Modern in New Haven is at par, and not to be sacrilegious to our beloved Detroit Style, with Loui's or Palazzo Di Pizza, so it's not a style issue. My two experiences were both the same, so I don't know what to think. I'll give them one more try at some point.

If your head doesn't look the color of a San Marzano making my pie... don't even bother. The crank hands me and my girlfriend the garlic bread. Bro. This might actually be some of the best bread I've ever had. It's like Canes with their sauce. Garlic bread is an incredibly overlooked component to a good pizza and I'm so happy that they put there ALL into making the best possible cheese bread. So delicious, it melts! The pizza was quite floppy, albeit, that was probably on me for leaving it in the box for more than 10 minutes. But the crust is chewy, the taste is pretty good. Tomatoes were a little bland, but that's probably a compliment to the cheese; like, hey look at me, f*** the tomato- look at me! I'm buffalo mozzarella, look how good I am. The penne pasta we got was VERY sweet, and cooked to perfection! The sauce was so sweet it almost tasted like it was TOO sweet. I literally had to add SALT to it like when should anyone ever have to do that to something overpowered by sweetness? Me of course cause clearly I wasn't thinking. It turned out to be spectacular though. I liked Grano, pretty good pizza at a monstrous price. But you can't deny, CLEANEST kitchen in the whole U.S. and definitely a lot of care put into their craft. There are 100% some maestro's coming out of that walk-in everyday, and like Tony Soprano's psychiatrist said, hope comes in many different forms. I love Italian-America, it's so dedicated. (4/5)

I would absolutely come back for that and bring the rest of my family. We also tried the tri-tip sandwich. We were told the bread was made fresh. I thought it was very good and very tender. My husband would have liked an au jus or horseradish sauce. He would try the hamburger next, but I would love another steak-frites, like right now! We were sad the coffee and pastry section closed early. In the past, at Honcho, we would get coffee and pastry after dinner since their coffee tends to be really good and quality. I would consider coming for brunch to try some. We talked to a gentleman who was part of the business as he was working hard. He was very kind and knowledgeable and took the time to hear our thoughts. I told him I was here for the steak. He thought I had a "but". I did not, it was great and I hope they can maintain that price point and the second serving of fries, because that was my main reason for visiting. He let us know the menu recently changed.
