The Atole de Nueces (Walnut Atole) at Marketón is so yummy!
    Elizabeth S.

Once again, here I am for my Mexican and Puertorican food Holiday shopping. I couldn't leave without treating myself to an Atole de Nueves (Walnut Atole), SO GOOD!!

The receipt shows a total of USD $29.13, but my actual payment was USD $30.85. Could you please clarify?

Hi, I shopped at your marketón store at noon today (11/22/2025). The receipt shows a total of USD $29.13, but my actual payment was USD $30.85. I suspect the difference might be related to the shopping bag fee. Could you please clarify: 1. Does your store charge for shopping bags? If so, how much is it? 2. Why isn't this bag fee itemized on the receipt? Looking forward to your explanation. Thanks!

This store is really big on the inside. I came here for ginger and lemons. I usually don't go here because it's not close to me. But I happened to be in downtown Reno. So it was the closest grocery store to the area I was in at the time. I have heard of this grocery store from many people but this was my first time checking it out. They have a really good produce section. Their prices are reasonable. It was clean and organized inside. The parking lot is small so it can get pretty crowded. My cashier spoke both English and Spanish. I'm practicing my Spanish. They have a section in the front that sells different household items like pots, electric kettles, and hot plates and more. There is a bake goods section and a meat section too. Some smaller items like honey or cake mix they do have but not as many options of brands like a bigger store like Walmart. But this store is a must try. I was not disappointed. I will come back soon. Glad I was able to check them out.

    Got this for 79 cents!

Good variety on a lot of items. Sale prices are great. Regular price are just regular. There is a sundry/kitchen eqt area on the left of the entrance. The teas and spices are aisles long. Lots of fresh meats, poultry and baked goods.

Review of Coco Express, located at the prepared foods counter! I've always loved Marketon, and the store seems to keep getting better. During COVID I discovered they have a new concessionaire in the prepared foods kitchen serving up Reno's ONLY CUBAN FOOD! Now as a Miamian born and raised, this is a cuisine near and dear to my heart, and while it is not the very best I've had, it can absolutely cure some homesickness in heartbeat! The main issue is the bread. No one makes Cuban bread here. If you've had Cuban bread, you know. If not, there's nothing like it and you can't convince me otherwise. That said, their Lechon (roasted pork) has great signature Cuban flavor, but it's obvious they're using a shoulder and not roasting a whole pig for this classic dish. The croquettas were pretty disappointing. Small and with an off flavor from the oil they were fried in. I found the same in the empanadas, but the filling was on point and I wasn't upset about it. Plantains were average, but those really need to be fresh to be great. All in all, this little menu ain't bad. I'd give it a go again, just skip the sandwich because the bread just isn't there.

    Rotten jicama

Disappointed as bought a jicama at .79/ lb and girl charged me double ( I weighed it on produce scale b4 choosing) on her checkout scale. Anyway, no biggee I though until I got it home and sliced it. Rotten all the way thru; brown as dirt. Useless. Waste of money and that store is not cheap to begin with.

I came looking for mole and rice but had never been here before, a kind man named Alejandro came up to me and asked to help, this guy seriously made me appreciate great service! He not only stopped what he was doing to help me but also came with me so I wouldn't get lost and gave me his recommendations on different brands and why plus he showed me what was on sale! I got exactly what I wanted at a great price! (4 pounds of rice for 1.99 was awesome) this place really passed my expectations and the exotic selection of things I couldn't find at most other markets caught my eye, I'll be back for groceries from now on for the deals, the selection and especially the service (If your reading this Alejandro, I really appreciate your help, thank you so much)

Marketon is a nice supermarket with a beautiful variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. A large and clean Mexican store that can cater to all your grocery needs. In addition there's a taqueria on the premises with limited sit down dining or take out options. Their fresh meat counter is well stocked with a nice variety of chicken, pork, and beef. They have the largest bin of fresh nopales / cacti pads for cooking I've ever seen.

Ay, caramba! What took me so long? How come I have not been to this market before? I have seen it multiple times while driving around town and I finally popped a Saturday afternoon. I did not need to shop for groceries, I just stopped by to check it out. The Spanish speaking staff, the music blasting off the speakers, the aroma of Mexican food and the colorful sights of pan dulce made me feel right at home. It felt like fiesta and it was not even a holiday. I went straight to the produce and filled my basket with a ripe papaya, pineapple, cantaloupe, bananas, and avocados. They were colorful, aromatic, ripe, screaming to be eaten. I wandered around the aisles, happy to see childhood favorites of mine, such as Gansitos, various snacks and Mexican candy, as well as my beloved hibiscus flowers, Valentina hot sauce and Tajin chili powder. Marketon carries a wide variety of Mexican and Latin ingredients at very reasonable prices. The meat counter looked interesting. I will have to go back and get some chorizo and pastor. The bakery was tempting too. The staff was friendly and attentive, happy to chat and point me to what I was looking for, as well as highlighting new arrivals and helping to pick the best produce. Yes, it was a little loud and crowded for American standards but I do not mind. In my opinion, that's part of what makes ethnic markets so appealing. It is like going on a quick trip.

Anna assists me almost every time I visit, and she is a absolute joy. She always has a genuine smile on her face and possesses the best attitude. Honestly, it's some of the best customer service I've ever experienced anywhere. She consistently turns a routine grocery trip into a great day. Unfortunately, my experience at the deli counter recently was the exact opposite. I went to order a sandwich and, as a first-timer, didn't realize there was a paper form I needed to fill out first. I stood waiting for assistance, and a staff member named Teri walked up, mumbled something, and immediately started to walk away. Because I couldn't hear her, I politely asked her to repeat herself. Teri responded with an incredibly dismissive attitude, acting as though asking for clarification was a major inconvenience. She then repeated, "You need to fill out the paper," speaking very condescendingly, as if I were unable to understand basic instructions. Even after I explained that I had never ordered a sandwich here before and simply didn't know the process, her attitude remained hostile. It was an incredibly uncomfortable and off-putting interaction. If it weren't for Anna completely turning my mood around at checkout per usual, I would have walked out incredibly frustrated. Management has a real gem in Anna, but they desperately need to address the customer service standards and basic courtesy at the deli counter.

Located directly off of S. Virginia St and adjacent to S. Meadows Pkwy in the southern part of Reno, this is one of three locations in the Reno metropolitan area (with the other two stores in north Reno and Sparks). The parking lot is actually quite spacious with ample room to get in and out to the main road. During my visit which was on Friday 7/3/2026 at around 1:30pm, it was fairly busy but the store itself had a great open layout. Those of you that don't know this about WinCo Foods is that they are a private employee-owned company. Prices are probably the best you will find anywhere other than Costco but here you won't get the massive crowds that Costco experiences on any given day. Keep in mind that WinCo only accepts cash, debit cards, and Apple Pay/Google Pay as they do not take credit cards of any kind. Also, you must bag your own groceries but this is their trademark to all of their locations in the western United States. I do want to add that since this is the state of Nevada, this WinCo actually has a small dedicated area (towards the front) where slot machines are available. This is great for those that want to avoid the hustle and bustle of going to an actual casino. In addition to that, they also have an area where alcohol is sold, a customer service area (where you can buy cigarettes, money orders, money transfers, payroll check cashing, and much more). Public restrooms are also available towards the front area of the supermarket. As for the store itself, much of the produce (fruit/veggies) was very fresh and well stocked. They also carry a huge assortment of bulk foods (nuts, rice, pasta, flour, candy, etc.). an amazing variety of meat & poultry, a dedicated bakery and deli section, and just about everything else you can think of. I find their selection to be much better than other big box grocery stores as this place always carries what I am looking for. Best of all, they are open 24 hours. When I made all my purchases, I went to the self check-out aisle (as they accept cash, debit, or tap-to-pay). The whole process was seamless and easy. All in all, the south Reno "WinCo Foods" gets a respectable four-star rating.

She was covering the service desk and I came in to return a defective item. As I approached the desk, she was looking me up and down with a very strange expression. So because of this, I wasn't affable but I definitely wasn't rude. I cut to the chase of why I was there. She treated me VERY badly which I ignored for the most part, stating that in all of the years that I've shopped at Winco I've never been treated so poorly. She responded by saying that I was the problem and invited me to call the corporate office! Then she said aggressively, "I've had three horrible customers in one day!" repeating it a few times. I asked to speak to a manager and she quipped that he was busy and he couldn't get away so I asked someone else to page him for me and she interfered with that page, telling them to cancel it. This is a brand new store and everyone else is amazing which is what I'm used to. I wrote this shortly after the store first opened and haven't had an unpleasant experience since and I shop here weekly. I also have not seen Linda.
