The people working here are very friendly , professional and proficient. The store is clean and organized and full of spices! The ambiance is friendly and has a cultural feeling. The parking is ample and the location is convenient, right along S. Virginia.

I have come here a few times with my husband (he's Indian I'm Mexican) And he usually knows where everything is and what we are looking for... So I've never had to ask the staff for help. I have always felt a weird vibe from the older lady staring at us like she is annoyed that we are there... But I've never really said anything because we are usually in and out... I had to come in here by myself the other day and let me tell you she is so rude and just grunts and gives me the evilest look ever. The man that was there stalking the shelves who I haven't really seen before was also there and he's rude as well, but easier to ignore because he did not have to help me. The picture I am posting with this is of me sitting in the car waiting for my husband because I don't feel comfortable going in there! I have told him that we need to go to a different Indian store because these people are so rude. It's just always closer to where we do our grocery shopping, but I am really hoping this is my last time here. I hope these people are not the owners and if the owner see this, I really hope that you can tell these people that they need to be nicer and they need to be welcoming whether you are Indian or not. I really don't know if it's even a racial thing because my husband too says that these people just have no personality, but he doesn't feel the animosity coming out of their eyes towards him like i feel it.

Great value on spices, especially if you cook a lot

This is an authentic Indian grocery with everything to support that wonderful cuisine. I was looking for some cumin, the local big box store was out, this had plenty, smallest size was 7 oz but it was still cheaper than the 2 oz portion you get everywhere else. This is a great little store, understood construction at the moment inside but for the local community a wonderful grocery store with all things Indian. It was 5 stars because the prices we low for quality spices. I'm gonna come back for the others I need next time.

I recently saw the big sign saying "spice market" close to my office. So today I wandered between errands. I thought it was going to be like Salty, Savory, Spices &Teas on California Avenue. Nope I was wrong. Not the same kind of shop where you go in and but spices in various quantities. This is an Indian grocery store. Almost any food item you would need to cook up Indian food at home is available here. Right when I walked in there were piles of various rices in 20 pound bags. Upon roaming the aisles I discovered different canned items, boxed goods and the spices I have expected to find. And towards the back of the store is a large refrigerator / freezer area. For those who can't cook (or don't want to) they carry a nice supply of premade food in the freezer area. The gentleman working the store was quite nice and was able to answer any question on many of the products there. I'll need to return when I figure out what I am ready to try and cook.

That's a looooooot of pani puri.

As much as I passionately love Indian food, I can say with full certainty that I have nowhere near the amount of skill or experience to whip up a successful, even passable, dish. Enter Spice Rack: hooking me up with the tools and renewed resolve necessary to make a KICKASS korma. Desi flavors have always drawn me in; bold and complex, South Asian cuisine is a guaranteed party in your mouth. Living up to its name, Spice Rack has an entire aisle dedicated to the many spices that make up some of my favorite eats. Coriander, cumin, and cloves! Oh my! I don't think I've EVER seen a bigger sack of turmeric in my life. If this sea of spice is a little too overwhelming, there are also some pre-made mixes for biryanis and butter chicken for the less initiated. I never had the chance to stop by the original location on Vassar, so I can't speak to any changes. But the Virginia St. location looks and feels new. Aisles are (neatly!) stocked to the brim. Small but fresh spread of produce; sizable selection of frozen dishes. My personal favorite section: SNACKAGE. If my Desi friends taught me anything in life, it's how to chow down on chakli and shakkarpara. You'll find plenty of both here! Feeling lost in label translation? Ask! The staff is friendly, helpful, and more than accommodating to any questions.

They have lots of frozen food items which has expired two years ago. This photo taken on Jan 2018 and food expired in Jan 2016.

I love picking up a fresh salad (some with meat some purely vegan/vegetarian) , a yummy very generously filled wrap, house made cookies and other delectable treats. They have a large selection of locally produced meats. Lots of organic canned goods, dairy and non-dairy items . . . the list goes on. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Memberships are available (20$/year) with a once a month 10% off of your total purchase. You do NOT need a membership to shop here. It's small and a bit cramped but there is a lot of good stuff there. It's clean and friendly and completely locally owned.

Anna assists me almost every time I visit, and she is a absolute joy. She always has a genuine smile on her face and possesses the best attitude. Honestly, it's some of the best customer service I've ever experienced anywhere. She consistently turns a routine grocery trip into a great day. Unfortunately, my experience at the deli counter recently was the exact opposite. I went to order a sandwich and, as a first-timer, didn't realize there was a paper form I needed to fill out first. I stood waiting for assistance, and a staff member named Teri walked up, mumbled something, and immediately started to walk away. Because I couldn't hear her, I politely asked her to repeat herself. Teri responded with an incredibly dismissive attitude, acting as though asking for clarification was a major inconvenience. She then repeated, "You need to fill out the paper," speaking very condescendingly, as if I were unable to understand basic instructions. Even after I explained that I had never ordered a sandwich here before and simply didn't know the process, her attitude remained hostile. It was an incredibly uncomfortable and off-putting interaction. If it weren't for Anna completely turning my mood around at checkout per usual, I would have walked out incredibly frustrated. Management has a real gem in Anna, but they desperately need to address the customer service standards and basic courtesy at the deli counter.

Located directly off of S. Virginia St and adjacent to S. Meadows Pkwy in the southern part of Reno, this is one of three locations in the Reno metropolitan area (with the other two stores in north Reno and Sparks). The parking lot is actually quite spacious with ample room to get in and out to the main road. During my visit which was on Friday 7/3/2026 at around 1:30pm, it was fairly busy but the store itself had a great open layout. Those of you that don't know this about WinCo Foods is that they are a private employee-owned company. Prices are probably the best you will find anywhere other than Costco but here you won't get the massive crowds that Costco experiences on any given day. Keep in mind that WinCo only accepts cash, debit cards, and Apple Pay/Google Pay as they do not take credit cards of any kind. Also, you must bag your own groceries but this is their trademark to all of their locations in the western United States. I do want to add that since this is the state of Nevada, this WinCo actually has a small dedicated area (towards the front) where slot machines are available. This is great for those that want to avoid the hustle and bustle of going to an actual casino. In addition to that, they also have an area where alcohol is sold, a customer service area (where you can buy cigarettes, money orders, money transfers, payroll check cashing, and much more). Public restrooms are also available towards the front area of the supermarket. As for the store itself, much of the produce (fruit/veggies) was very fresh and well stocked. They also carry a huge assortment of bulk foods (nuts, rice, pasta, flour, candy, etc.). an amazing variety of meat & poultry, a dedicated bakery and deli section, and just about everything else you can think of. I find their selection to be much better than other big box grocery stores as this place always carries what I am looking for. Best of all, they are open 24 hours. When I made all my purchases, I went to the self check-out aisle (as they accept cash, debit, or tap-to-pay). The whole process was seamless and easy. All in all, the south Reno "WinCo Foods" gets a respectable four-star rating.

All of this while providing full-time positions and livable wages with benefits too. Winco proves it! In the 20+ years that I've been a Winco customer, I've always been treated well which is a phenomenal track record that some jerk has ruined. Why Linda, why? She was covering the service desk and I came in to return a defective item. As I approached the desk, she was looking me up and down with a very strange expression. So because of this, I wasn't affable but I definitely wasn't rude. I cut to the chase of why I was there. She treated me VERY badly which I ignored for the most part, stating that in all of the years that I've shopped at Winco I've never been treated so poorly. She responded by saying that I was the problem and invited me to call the corporate office! Then she said aggressively, "I've had three horrible customers in one day!" repeating it a few times. I asked to speak to a manager and she quipped that he was busy and he couldn't get away so I asked someone else to page him for me and she interfered with that page, telling them to cancel it. This is a brand new store and everyone else is amazing which is what I'm used to. I wrote this shortly after the store first opened and haven't had an unpleasant experience since and I shop here weekly. I also have not seen Linda. It's a great store with great employees and low prices. I'll keep buying whatever they have that I need from Winco. This store is my first go to store.
