A-pair-of-lobsters deal was so well worth the money spent. Those bright red crustaceans were really the stars of our dinner; juicy, plump, as fresh as they can be and cheap! (you will spend more than twice the amount of money to get the same amount of lobster in Mass area). On the side note, we also tried the steamed mussels (which were incredible as well), fried scallops (nothing out of the ordinary) and lobster roll (pretty dissapointing i must say, Kelly's in Boston area nails it better). Ambience is not so shabby, a lot of big windows which allow hefty amount of sunlight in before dark while also turn the place into a pretty cozy and intimate place to enjoy dinner at night. I guess all good thing do come to an end cause we ordered fried haddock dinner, a tuna roll and two large haddock chowders to go and this was the worst haddock dinner and chowder I have ever had. Look like they changed there batter recipe. The chowder had 1 potato and 2 very small pieces of haddock and they changed the recipe on there chowder too and how do you make a tuna roll taste so bad . We went there last night, wanted to end our vacation with good seafood. There was three of us and we all got a combo plate $35 and two of us got chowder. The scallops were over cooked, and fries under cooked, shrimp over cooked, clams ok but not many bellies, and onion rings should be made on the premises you can tell they are the frozen fat ones. As far as the chowder I couldn't see a clam in it they must use minced clams out of a can or they purée it before serving $140 of pure disappointment we threw most of it away, such a waste never again. read more

Saw this place on Phantom Gourmet, so we just had to try it. I had the clam cakes and lobster bisque. The clam cakes were not at all what I was expecting, but they were really good!! The bisque however did not impress me, although there was a lot of meat there wasn't any flavor. My moms boyfriend payed $20 for like 10 clam strips in the fried clam platter, he was very disappointed. My mother had a lobster roll which she said was one of the best she's had. Wow has this place gone down. We've been going here for years and I've always stood by it. First off the fish chowder had 2 pieces of fish. Secondly the lobsters were priced astronomically high. I expected high prices, I did not expect $51.99 PER POUND for 2.5 pound lobsters. A small was 21.99 per pound. I got mussels which 1/2 did not open and the portion was tiny for 13.99. Tried again the next day and chowder still sucked and they never put my lobster order in, I waited quite some time and the manager just didn't care. The place was empty, no excuses. read more

It's funny how a majority of locals choose either Markey's or Brown's. I'll go to both depending on the mood. What is similar is that you order at the counter, take your # and find a table, then pickup your food when the number is called. What's different is that Markey's sells beer and is more of a sit down restaurant. MLP has enough options to keep non-seafood people happy (like my sister). I take my mom and grandfather here for Haddock Sandwiches in the Summer and have tried their fried scallop plate, steamed lobster, fried clams, steamers and one time I bought a cheeseburger. I like Markey's because they serve draft beer and the haddock sandwich is a 10/10. Cool views of the marsh especially when the tides are changing. The traffic getting in an out and the lines can be long during peak season but totally worth the wait. If you like seafood this place will not disappoint​. read more

i am so so glad we found this place off the side of the road during a visit to NH. this is exactly the type of local place that makes New England an amazing place to live. the set-up has a bunch of tables and benches in a huge dining room. there are 2 separate counters to order from, one for lobster and one for the fried food. they also have a bar on the side of the dining room for you to order a beer (or 2 or 3) with your food. sam adams boston lager is a perfect compliment. we ordered a combo plate with fried clams and scallops, a cup of clam chowder, and a crab meat roll. everything was AMAZING. not only was the seafood perfectly fried but the flavor and seasoning was so on point. the scallops were tender and juicy as all hell. the crab meat roll was also a main highlight of our whole trip. it wasn't overwhelmed with mayo and there was no skimping on the meat filling this oh so soft and fluffy roll. fresh seafood freshly fried. it really doesn't get much better than that. read more

Read the reviews of Markey's vs Brown's, so we decided to give it a try after a day at the Hampton Beach. Came in for early dinner on a Saturday - ordered two medium lobsters, half dozen shrimp cocktail, fried fish, scallops, shrimp and a bowl of chowder for two adults and two kids (8 and 10). Had a nice table by the open window to the water. Not much scenery, but at least some breeze. Owners should consider putting in some ceiling fans to keep the air moving on a hot day. Servers were all kids - a couple were European and didn't understand English very well. Servers essentially kept the tables cleaned. Young kids handling the fry station, the raw bar and the lobsters. Signs taped to the walls say do not feed the sea gulls - of course, people were feeding them. Can't tell who was dumber - the sea gulls or the people. Lobsters were fresh and juicy. Daughter had her own lobster, shrimp, and the rest was for us (wife, 8 yr old son and myself). Cocktail shrimp were fresh had a nice flavor - came in a styrofoam cup w/ ice, lemon wedge and cocktail sauce. Lobsters were cracked and split down the tail, along with a wooden pick and butter. Very tasty and clearly a medium in size - after eating all those chicken lobsters I can see these two were more than 1.25 lbs/each. Fried fish was nice - batter not too thick or bready. Scallops were large and tasty. Fried shrimp was just okay. Came w/ fries and slaw, some cocktail sauce. Wife avoided the tartar sauce as it was sitting on the counter and not in ice (not a good idea w/ mayo on a 90+ degree day). Parking lot was jammed, and so was Brown's across the street. Some jerk parked in the entrance slot, making it hard for folks to get to the door, including an elderly person in a walker. To avoid the congestion, park on the side or the adjacent lot next to the ice cream place. Bring cash, they do not accept credit cards. ATM machine nearby. Strange to keep that much cash on the premises. Next task to try Brown's and compare! Such a hard task, but we must try! read more

This place was awesome! It's right across the street from Brown's (which appeared to be pretty crowded). The lobster roll is HUGE. By far the biggest we've got from anywhere else and it was tasty. We also tried the lobster bisque which had chunks of lobster claw meat in it. read more

Always love going to Markey's when in Salisbury. So glad they introduced a raw bar a few years ago. I'm content eating clams, oysters, steamers and steamed mussels. All are outstanding. If you get the lobster plate, it's big enough for two. French fries are awesome, too. read more

More of a 3.5 on this last visit... Service: Great. The lobster guys were extremely helpful and patient with us. The clams station was quick and efficient. Lobster: 1 Large lobster and 2 small lobsters. The large lobster did not taste as good as we had hoped. Maybe because he's an oldie. Though he had lots of meat, he was a bit chewy. He tasted a little undercooked as well. The two little ones were great though. The meat was as little as you'd expect as well. Clams: We got two quarts. 1 quart unfortunately was a really bad batch and the clams kept falling a part and were really hard the handle. The other batch was really good though. It tasted exactly how clams should taste. Price: I forget sometimes how expensive seafood can be. The lobsters were $55 and the 2 quarts of clams and 2 beers were $45. They say it's really tough to ruin lobster. Markey's has found a patented way to do that. How? you ask. Boil feet and garbage and sprinkle in some lobster chunks to make the horrendous and appalling concoction that is their lobster bisque. Honestly not only did it taste terrible, it ruined the remainder of the meal. The rancid taste lingered and overwhelmed any futile attempt of any other food item. My wife and I tried to do a mix and match between Markey's and the other place across the street and unfortunately the lobster bisque ruined both meals. read more

I lived close my to Markey's the year Browns was out of business. At that time I thought they had great deals, but since Brown's is back across the street the prices went up too. The staff are nice, but they are very young, they look like teenagers. The last time I was there the ATM was scary, it kept my cards in there for a long time then would say couldn't read.. wasn't able to use at all. Then a week later my card is hacked, that could be a coincidence, but they should have an ATM that isn't sketchy if they only accept cash. Stick to the fried food, but don't bother getting lobster here! While the lobster itself was sweet & delicious, they serve them hacked up into pieces! A sign says are cut up unless requested--which I almost didn't see. I have never in my life seen lobster served like this at a lobster pound...and I've eaten a lot of lobster in my day! Part of the joy of a boiled lobster dinner is cracking it yourself. So, I requested mine be uncut, but was not warned that they do not have any lobster crackers to use. When I asked, they said flippantly that's why they cut them up. The sign should say: be aware that no cracker is provided for lobster ordered uncut...or BYO cracker. I got no apology, just a lot of excuses and blame directed at me for not wanting my beautiful lobster hacked up before I put hands on it, and for expecting a place that specializes in lobster to serve it properly & with the customary tools. Additionally, they do not have a dinner option, so you are getting just a lobster...if you want any sides you might have to order in a second or 3rd line. There was a place for fried, another for lobster & oysters, and another spot for drinks & steamers. Oh and let's not forget the fish chowder, an expensive bowl of bland, watery broth & fish & potatoes with no flavor at all. I didn't bother to give them the feedback after the response I got about the lobster. This place must survive of one-time tourists, as I can't imagine them getting repeat business based on what I saw. What should have been a lovely family dinner after a long time apart due to covid, was a stressful, overpriced, and disappointing experience. This is my third time here. First two times were great. This time I ordered lobster bisque on a cold rainy day and it was not hot. It wasn't even lukewarm. The second star is for the view and that they immediately reimbursed me when I brought back my halt eaten scallops, pointing out they were mostly over cooked. They had been cut into thirds, looking like coins and the thinner ones were seriously over cooked, the thicker ones were just ok. Why would you do that to a scallop? My wife's calamari were cooked well, and she thought they were OK, I thought they tasted like brine. I know they come from the ocean but these seemed overly so. On the bright side the onion rings were fine as was the view on a nice afternoon. Not impressed, especially given their reputation.
