I wish I could give this place negative starts, especially for their customer service! I ordered an arrangement two days early thinking "of course they'll get there at a decent hour." On the day of delivery- 3 phone calls and one RUDE manager later- the flowers were FINALLY delivered at 5PM, right before my friend was leaving work to go home. My experience wouldn't have been so terrible if everyone, EVERYONE, there wasn't so RUDE!! AND to top it off, the arrangement wasn't even what I asked for!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is an update to my prior negative review. Mark's Garden contacted me to say that they were very sorry for the issue with the prior delivery not matching what was advertised and with the problems my MIL encountered on their review site. They offered to send me a replacement bouquet to make up for it and said they are working with their vendor on the website review issue. I received the replacement flowers today and they are extraordinary. In my view these match the photo and they have really redeemed themselves. From a receipients view point, I truly believe Mark's Garden is something special. I was very impressed with the arrangement. An arrangement from any other shop is nice to receive but the beauty of an arrangement from Mark's Garden will carry through each day as long as it lasts. Like many service sectors, you will never know how good it is till you try it but I know you won't be disappointed. We are planning a wedding in July and went to meet with Mark. Not only is he hilarious, but is a true gifted artist. My daughter is getting married in a rustic, Italian farmhouse setting and Mark came up with great ideas for the red roses which is her only flower choice. He is easy to work with and appreciates input from the client. He really listens to what you are saying, then makes little tweaks to make it even better! The store is beautiful and welcoming. If you have ever gotten an arrangement from here, you will know what I mean. Stop in, you can always pick up a bunch of flowers to take home, or order one of Mark's famous baskets. read more

Im utterly shocked by these scathing reviews! Looks like I was one of the lucky ones. Marks, get it together!!! You have a name and reputation to keep up in the 818! I quickly ran in on the way to see a friends baby and said i had $20 to spend and wanted white flowers. They immediately showed me these gorgeous stems of white lilies that looked very healthy and wrapped them in a gorgeous bouquet. I was in and out in 10 minutes and with a Marks Garden ribbon around them, it was a perfect gift. I was very please so seeing all these bad reviews just now was quite surprising. This place is absolutely horrible! The worst customer service I have ever experienced from a flower shop--hands down. From previous bouquets, I can say they have nice flowers, but apparently getting those nice flowers into the hands of customers--who frequently pay more than $150 per order--is not a high priority of theirs. If you're going to advertise delivery, then make sure you can deliver. BUT, the fun doesn't stop there... when speaking with one of their employees on the phone, they completely brush my concerns off. There was ZERO care in her words or actions. NEVER AGAIN. PS I noticed that the owner tries quelling the damage on Yelp by responding to negative posts. Mark, don't bother with mine. I went there to get help with which kind of flowers to choose for my Sons 1st year anniversary they just stood there like a lump on a log! No help or advice. I made an appointment to speak with Mark's Garden regarding flowers for my wedding reception and had called last Friday to confirm. I was in town from the east coast to see family and thought that it might be worthwhile to pop in while I was in town. Mark's Garden confirmed the appointment before I left and despite reading many of the reviews on Yelp, I held out hope that this might be a different experience. A different experience it was - in that when I showed up, my contact wasn't even there. Another florist had to call her and came back with the following: "She is very sorry, but she completely forgot to call you to cancel the appointment. They're doing a huge wedding out in the Palisades and Mark wanted her to go at the last minute so she forgot to call you and cancel." So there I was, having flew cross country to L.A. hoping to meet with my potential florist, and they left me at the altar. It's really just unfortunate that they're so disorganized that they couldn't make a courtesy call to tell you when THEY've cancelled your appointment. To be fair, I really just don't think they care. Unless you're planning a large scale wedding or a high profile event, there is no guarantee of the service or quality you will receive. read more

I have used Mark's for years -- starting with my wedding and then several times a year after that for every party, holiday or gathering I have ever had. But when I called them recently, they were rude, unhelpful and told me they couldn't take my order (???!!!) because they were "too busy." Not quite sure what that means, since I've never heard of a business saying that before even hearing what the customer wanted. It's obviously very different to take an order for a huge event, or even a medium-size event, for which a business could actually be too busy. That's understandable. But before getting the details? And then refusing to hear the details before abruptly saying, "It doesn't matter! WE ARE TOO BUSY!" What I said anyway, if the guy was even listing, was that I just wanted a quick arraignment and am not picky. I told him that I was fine with them doing whatever was easiest that they thought would look pretty and that I didn't care about colors or style. Nope. He was annoyed he had to tell me again that they were too busy. (I would guess that this wasn't a manager or owner, since I can't believe someone with a financial interest would be so dismissive of an easy sale, or at least be so rude about it.) Someone told me that the ownership has changed and IT SHOWS. I guess to these people, a good customer of 25 years doesn't mean much. If it were me, and the customer was going to make it that easy to accommodate them, I would do whatever I needed to do to make it happen for them, even if it meant staying 15 minutes late myself to do it! read more

I wanted to send my mother some flowers for her birthday, so I called last minute & the receptionist Laura was a big help. She knew what i wanted. Been using Mark's Garden off and on for about 10 years. I used to be a secretary - excuse me, an "assistant" - for a major studio vendor and we sent out and received a lot of flowers. As someone who normally gets flowers at the Flower Mart or Trader Joe's, this place is perfect for a special gift or event, but you will pay for it. Let me tell you though, it is DEFINITELY worth it!! The best arrangement I ever saw was a gift for a man, a 12x12 or so square crystal vase about 4 inches tall all around - think a crystal brick - it was filled from side to side with beautiful burgundy red roses, there must have been 4 dozen blooms easy in there, and who knows how much it cost, and that great manager gave them to me to give to my mom even though he had a wife at home who would have loved them. The flowers smelled exquisite and the blooms lasted forever as my mom spread them out and about the house in smaller arrangements. The vase made for a great candle holder and bowl for floating blossoms and candles in as well. An item I personally ordered from them was a live plant basket that I never saw, but got a lot of phone calls about, and the plants weren't cheap ones that die fast, this arrangement lasted at least a year if not longer. Now all my orders are personal and are usually for birthdays and things like that. When I call them to order, I tell them how much I want to spend. They do have a $50 minimum per item even if it goes to the same address. A typical call is "Hi, I want to order a $75 live plant basket and have it delivered. The recipient likes purple." That's it. They work their magic and everything is perfect. Today I called and got Ben who took my order for 2 people at one address. Total order of a $50 and an $80 plant basket plus tax and delivery was $150. My card got *declined* Ben saved the order as a draft as I tried to figure out how my mom got money from the account when I had the debit card LOL In any case, Ben was great. He has a dry-ish Brit accent and may sound abrupt or bored, or shall we say it - busy - but he's nice. He even asked if I wanted to lower the value of one of the baskets without being snobby or anything like that. The folks who work there work for their money just like we do, so I'm sure they have good and bad days, so for those reviewers who had bad experiences, try them again! All I can say is that I love these guys. I hope one day to be able to afford to get stuff from them all the time, like for the hell of it just to put in my room or something, but until then I shall have to be content with knowing the people I've sent stuff to love me because of them :) read more

Wow this is a really horrible company. I am one of the largest developers in LA. My interior designer approached them to bid on doing flowers in one of my homes. I was surprised by how high the bid was as they came in 50% higher than a direct competitor but were really really high on the flower maintenance at 12,000 a month! Obviously I was surprised and called Michael Uncapher the senior floral designer. I was a little taken aback at his aloof attitude regarding the large monthly, but said he would let work on bid. Today we received an e mail written in a very pompous manner from Michael informing the project if we wanted to have the honor of working with them the maintenance on the flowers would need to be increased to 36,000 a month! Obviously this e mail was meant as a FU to us and MARKS GARDEN wasted several days on this. There are other flower companies out there with far less of a attitude. I would not waste time with these guys and go to companies that want local business and not have attitude and waste people's time. read more

These people are all talk no action. I called within an hour of their opening asking to deliver flowers on a timely basis and could they do it. They said yes. I told them that my girlfriend was going out late in the afternoon and it was important that they get there before she left. The call was in around 10 AM. At 3:30 PM nothing had happened. They said they were doing the best they can. I don't believe that. If they told me they couldn't do it I would've went with somebody else. What can I say. I can't believe this place doesn't have a higher rating on Yelp! Mark's Garden was my florist for my wedding, and I was BLOWN AWAY by their work! The venue was nice, but the flowers REALLY made it stand out and create the elegance I was hoping to achieve! We ended up going with all white flowers, with lots of greenery. We did 4 tall centerpieces and 5 short ones to give the room some texture and variety. The tall ones were extravagant and breathtaking, and the short ones were still quite large, and BEAUTIFULLY arranged. I always hated the look of the tall centerpieces in the glass vases, but after seeing it done in person, it really made all the difference. I have to thank everyone at MG who ended up having to speak with my mother. I put her in charge of all the flower arrangements, and I swear she probably called every week for a year leading up to the wedding. That is not even an exaggeration. She kept changing her mind and asking questions, and they were SO kind and patient with her! The day of the meeting (where they showed us a mock up of the centerpieces), we actually got to take the centerpiece with us (minus the vase). We used it as the centerpiece at my shower the next day! They arrived as early as possible the day of the wedding and set up even more than we asked for! They added some flowers to the arch in the ceremony space, and flower petals on the cake table as well as behind the unity table. They worked gracefully under pressure considering it was raining during setup, and we urged them to keep the ceremony outside. They had to set up in the rain, and everything still looked perfect! Simply put, Mark's Garden is the best florist in Los Angeles. Mark's Garden has done floral arrangements for me for several occasions, ranging from Mother's Day arrangements to special event center pieces. I most recently used Mark's Garden for center pieces for my mother's 60th birthday party, which was held at a hotel in Beverly Hills. While planning for the party, I met with both Theresa and Laura. They are both so friendly and easy to talk to that I was able to articulate exactly what I was looking for, and they both have truly exquisite taste. I was also working on a budget, and Theresa and Laura made sure that what I was looking for would stay within my budget. On the day of the event, the arrangements were delivered right on time. When I saw them, they took my breath away. They were the most beautiful floral arrangements I had ever seen, and they were exactly what I wanted. The flowers really helped to make the celebration an event my mom will never forget. As an added bonus, they made my house smell lovely and look gorgeous after the party!
