Mediterranean chicken + cucumber salad + fries
Natasha H.

Such a cute little spot in town! I will say, the entrance and seating process is a little clunky and could be improved with a hostess stand, instead of yelling across the room, but, that aside, my meal was delicious! The service was great and the pricing is totally reasonable.

Everything we have tried here has been fresh and amazing! From salads, gyros, to Quesadillas you can't go wrong with any choice!

Ok I just found my favorite place to eat in all of Salisbury. I've been to a lot of places while my daughter has been doing theater practices here but oh my, I wish I came to this place long ago because it would be my only place to eat all these days. It's right inside of town. It's a nice warm place. And the people are very nice and accommodating. The menu is PURE GOLD. I had a terrible time picking what I wanted becuase there were soooooooo many great options. I'll have to come back to try others on the menu. But for today I got The Recipe Chicken Roll which is stuffed fried chicken breast with cheese, ham& slices. Served over rice and topped with homemade creamy chipotle sauce. I'm speechless. This was so good. I absolutely loved this meal. I got to come back and try more things. 5 stars. Best in town!!

Recipe is a great cafe in downtown Salisbury offering a variety of fresh lunch and dinner options. The ambience is very calm and quiet.

Greek spaghetti with blacken chicken

This place is amazing! The atmosphere was causal and yet elegant. Pricing wasn't outrageous. And the food was so good! Some of the best food I have had here since moving from the west coast. I had the Greek spaghetti with blacken chicken. My husband had the lasagna which was awesome and my son devoured the salmon. The server was so lovely, knowledgeable about the food and just all around fabulous! You must go here!

We enjoyed our meal. My chicken Alfredo came with a side salad and breadstick (you choose if you and mushrooms or broccoli in it. The pasta was very tender and tastes like fresh pasta. The sauce flavor was a little light. My husbands Mediterranean chicken came on a bed of rice with two sides and a breadstick. The portion sizes were huge. The food tasted good. Service was nice. It's small inside, so it makes for a very intimate setting. Overall it was an enjoyable experience.

I ordered a 9oz steak, my mother ordered a 6oz, when the lady who I'm assuming is a food runner brought out our plates I politely asked her if my steak was 9 ounces because it looked about the same size as my mothers 6oz and she replied in an incredibly snarky tone saying, "I bring out whatever you order so what's infront of you is what you ordered" and the she just rudely walked off. I cut into my steak and it was raw, I order medium rare every single time and hardly ever send back food, when I told our waiter (who I feel bad for, he was incredibly nice and he had to run around extra because of everything) he noted that it looked "really bad" that's how raw it was, no biggie I let him take it back to be cooked properly and the same lady brought the steak back to my table and said something else in a rude tone, I didn't catch what she said but I sure did hear how she said it. The steak had not been fixed, they simply heated the specific area I cut into, when I cut it completely in half it looked the exact same as it did when it was first taken back. The waiter (again I cannot stress this enough, he did nothing wrong and was very patient and understanding) ended up getting me a whole new one that I took to go, he brought it to me and had me check that it was cooked right and it was perfectly fine the second time. My issue is with the lady who ran the food out, she was INCREDIBLY rude, I have never written a negative review before and never really found it worth it but this lady was so incredibly unprofessional and someone in management needs to address that and shut that behavior down. She looked to be of a more "mature" age, had grayish/salt and pepper hair, a lot of ear jewelry (mostly in gold) and thick rimmed black glasses in a bit of a Cat eye type style. Have no idea what her name is, hopefully that description is enough.

So we decided to get a bite while we were in the area.My wife wanted the coconut Shrimp. I decided on the wings. I just about got the Lasagna. It's all ways been good over the years. I had a salad to go with my wings. Salad was fine. My wife wanted the sweet sauce for her coconut shrimp but it came with some other dipping sauce. Which neither she or I liked. Her Coconut shrimp were cooked that had it been a piece of meat it would be Well Done. There was no sign of coconut on the shrimp. And the dipping sauce wasn't even good. My wings were cooked to death. I was rolling them in the wing sauce to possibly give them some moisture. They were cooked dry I was having to wash each one down with my beverage. As we sat there talking to each other about how disappointed in our meal. I called our youngest son to see if he and his wife had eaten there in a while. And his first remark was we sure have a the quality of the food had gone down in flavor and quality. Not sure if we will get give DJ's another chance or not. Every dish was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection, with incredible flavor and attention to detail. The atmosphere is elegant yet welcoming, and the service was attentive and professional. You can truly tell they take pride in every aspect of the dining experience. This restaurant exceeded expectations, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a memorable meal.

We love to eat out and we chose to eat here for my birthday this year…read more I sent a letter to the restaurant a week ago. This is an edited version. First impression: We were not automatically offered a table inside or out but were told "Follow me" to the outside table. Please see the photo. Does this look like a nice setup for an almost $300 meal? The table was wobbly. The paint on the wall was peeling. Maybe they should hire an artist to decorate that blank wall. The inside is very dark. First course: Oysters. Sauce delicious: BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH TINY OYSTERS. Barely a blip in your mouth, 1/4"?? These are on the menu also as charred? Huh? Do they have different oysters for that? Nothing would be left. We got tiny oysters on seaweed did not match even the photo on their web site, decent size oysters on ice. One week later I ate at a restaurant in Hickory and got six fabulous oysters for $13.25. CV charges $21. Main course: Branzino and asparagus. $52. Very nice. But (and I just had to look back at the menu on line to see what this was), the charred radish was so hard you could hardly poke a fork into it, inedible. And I was not aware of a single fava bean as advertised on the menu. Swordfish special: $52. Slightly overcooked. Blackened carrots rock hard, inedible. Whoever is in charge of vegetables needs to taste before sending out. While we were eating the fish, the server placed two steak knives on the table. Huh? Dessert: Dubai chocolate eclair sounded great. Maybe bought at Costco or Sams??? Two arrived on a plate with absolutely no presentation. One with a squiggle of chocolate underneath would have been better. Absolutely no pistachio flavor and VERY COLD. Should be room temperature. Did they come out of the fridge or freezer? Perhaps at room temperature flavor would have been more obvious. It was nice that when I had mentioned dark instead of milk chocolate the kitchen used dark. Table not cleared for dessert. Steak knives still there. Irish coffee: there is more to Irish coffee than adding whisky to a lukewarm cup of coffee and asking if I wanted cream after coffee was delivered. I enclosed the recipe and photo in my letter. Wine: wine list fairly priced. Our server did not know anything about the Cotes de Rhone we questioned but brought the bottle for us to have a look at. As vineyard and winery owners we grew viognier, this is why we were interested in this particular bottle. The server took our photo and I mentioned it was my birthday. In many cases this would be referred to the kitchen. Nothing special ensued. The well dressed owner (Doreen) walked past our table a number of times (sometimes carrying used dishes or glasses) without even glancing at us. I guessed she was the owner and spoke up. A nod and hello would have been nice. We came here with an open mind prepared to spend a large sum on a birthday dinner. Read the captions under the pictures. One oyster shot from their web site. Wish I had photo'ed what I got. The other oyster shot Hickory Restaurant one week later for less money.

I got their sandwich special, the Buffalo Soldier. It was chicken cutlet with lettuce, tomato, blue cheese, and ranch on ciabatta. I made it a combo with chips and a soda. With tip I think the total was around $17. That was a touch more expensive than I was expecting especially with just a bag of chips on the side. The sandwich was good. Between the blue cheese and the ranch it was really creamy and most of the toppings slide off with the second bite. I don't mind a mess though! The ciabatta bread was the perfect compliment for the sandwich. It was a cute spot and I especially liked the creative sandwich names. I'd go back and try the chicken ceasar wrap next time.
