True to its namesake, there are brightly colored folk art designs throughout the restaurant in line with their Mexican heritage. The trees that make it look overgrown from the outside actually serve to allow sunlight while masking the surrounding city, facilitating the transformation that makes you feel like you're in Mexico City. We came at an off-peak time in the afternoon and it was nearly empty. We were seated immediately and the service was prompt and attentive. I was pleased to see some unique menu offerings like Birra Ramen and Sopes that deviate from the standard American-friendly fare in most places. Drinks were good - we had a regular house margarita, a triple berry margarita, and a jalapeño cucumber margarita. All were tasty and I would order again. I tried to order a Mezcalita, since it's not often I see a Mezcal option, but they were out of that particular liquor. We tried to get street corn as an appetizer, which they were also out of. We got cheese and salsa with chips instead. The chips were hot and fresh, the salsa generous with the cilantro, and the cheese bold and warm. For entrees we had the Al Pastor Quesadilla and the Birra Ramen. The quesadilla was good, though the beans on the side were pretty bland. The ramen was a unique and very tasty option, and I was not able to finish such a generous portion. I think I'd leave the cheese out next time since it made some weird textures, but the flavor was great overall. Overall, there are some small things to improve (having menu items in stock, bland beans) and the prices were a bit high, but we had a great experience overall. I'm not often in the area, but I'll certainly eat here again if I am!

I got the lunch ACP, which was quick to come out, and a first for me, it was served with choice of corn or flour tortillas...I opted for flour. The food tasted great, and portion size was perfect, honestly, probably a little more than I should have eaten for lunch, but it will tide me over until dinner. Definitely worth checking out. This spot has an amazing bright and vibrant atmosphere, beautifully decorated with bright colors, a much different look inside then out. When I was younger, so much younger than today, I traveled internationally for a Fortune 500 company for over 12 years. In those travels I spent over a year in Mexico, because it was a problem place, to do business in any way - to protect inventory (we hired armed guards to patrol behind fenced areas, 24/7), to collect accounts receivable, especially from the Federal and State governments, to operate within the guidelines of the SEC! The good part was to sample food I had no idea existed. I had birria for the first time in 1979 in Guadalajara - stew only, no tacos at the time; carbito; and I had Pozole Verde for the first time, with pork, amazing dish! The version of pozole verde served here is very good, but does not have quite the layers of flavor this dish is famous for, like the ones I've sampled at Taqueria Los Juanes, El Camino Real, and Paisano El Tacos - all in Winston. Still it is a dish worth having a go at! I topped the relatively thin stew with cheese, chopped white onion, chicharrones, and avocado. In addition, I squeezed on lime juice and added hot sauce. All of this added additional flavors as well as a variety of textures. I wish there had been cabbage and cilantro to add as well. I tried the Quesabirria tacos and found them to be very nice - well filled and flavorful. I'm glad I tried the food here, and if in the area I'd stop in, but I would not consider this a destination spot.

The tortillas were homemade, the taco was loaded with onions and cilantro, they give you a good amount of limes, some radishes on the side, and bring out 2 different salsas for you to add to your taco if you would like too.
