The frappe and vanilla latte were amazing! The frappe is better is you aren't in dire need of caffeine and want something sweeter. The vanilla latte was strong and a little sweet, but not so overwhelmingly sugary that it leaves a weird taste in your mouth. The coffee menu is extensive with a lot of flavor options. The seating areas looked really nice too and I liked the interior vibe. They also have a fridge with mini bottles of wine and champagne. I really appreciated that they encouraged masks for customers and employees, physical distancing, and safe payment options. Sweet Beans is on our list next time we are in Morehead! read more

Went in today and the two employees working were not wearing a mask despite a sign on the door that said to wear a mask. One was handling pastries and breathing on them. Both gave me a dirty look and somewhat glared at me, didn't greet me nor ask me if I wanted to order anything. They just kept doing whatever it was they were doing. I had read good reviews about their coffee and was looking forward to trying it, but I simply walked out since I didn't feel welcomed or that they were taking the pandemic seriously. I was SO HAPPY to have found Sweet Beans this past week when a colleague suggested we meet up there. This place is a little difficult to find if you don't know about it, so just know it is where the Dairy Queen is in Morehead. This coffee shop has all of your coffee faves, whether you are a fancy coffee drinker, or if you have your coffee black. Simple. Classic. Friendly. We all need a lil boost every now and then, even when on vacation. I popped in here early on a Monday morning to knock out some work while on vacation with my family. The staff was warm, talkative and very helpful. I managed to enjoy two warm cups of coffee with coconut milk (they have dairy free milks) and even snagged a bag of sugar free dark chocolate espresso beans, perfect for my 6 hour drive home. The straws are paper, and stirrers are uncooked noodles. There is free wifi, and nice decor. I got a hot mocha, and was kinda disappointed with it. Stopped in for tea while spending the weekend away from Raleigh for a local wedding. They have about six loose leaf teas and a assortment of bag teas--we went with loose leaf green and it was perfect. $3 for a small cup...seems a bit expensive, but their cup of joe is around $2. Was surprised to find out that they only accept cash tips--or maybe they forgot to flip the tablet. Counter staff was extremely personable and the layout provides tons of seating, indoors and out. For a Saturday afternoon, however, there were only two other small parties. The place was dead. We'd definitely be up dropping in again for a latte or tea next time! read more

Stopped here in the early morning and the baristas and shop had great energy, I enjoyed an excellent cold brew and cinnamon roll and my grandmother had an incredible sugar free white chocolate latte. Came in on a Sunday morning on our way back home for a quick breakfast to go. Service was quick and the sandwiches were delicious. My boyfriend had the sausage, egg, and cheese croissant and it was so good! They have a good selection of sandwiches and you can customize them based on what kind of bread, cheese, etc you like! We purchased a cup of Sumatra, a dark roast, and this is the weakest cup of dark roast I have ever tasted. It doesn't even smell like coffee. The coffee was reasonably priced, however. I visited here two days in a row on my way in to work. I waited until the second visit to write a review, hoping for improvement. Now..forewarning, I drink a lot of coffee and I have very high expectations..so if you can drink any coffee and love it..or not tell the difference between folgers and a small batch roaster, this review is not for you. If you make your coffee at home in a french press or chemex, please continue. The spot is cool. Strip mall end-cap with a drive through door (yes door). Bar area seating along with high and low-top tables and a few soft seating areas. The gent working the counter both days was very friendly as well. They have a small selection of bagels, muffins and breakfast sandwiches. I ordered an Americano the first day and the same the second, with the addition of an egg and cheese croissant. The coffee...in all honestly, tasteless. I'm guessing the beans are the issue but could be a combination of that and the brewing method. Nonetheless, as much as I want to support these places, the coffee just wasn't good. The croissant on the second day was good. He offered to throw it in the press and it was a crispy, flaky, melts bit of heaven. All in all, this experience for me was prob 2.5-3 stars. In my opinion, in the world of Starbucks and other coffee giants, you HAVE to get the coffee right. This shop, at least on the 2 days I visited, did not. read more
