The food is amazing and the service excellent. The grill veggies are delicious as well as the meats, branzino and rotisserie chicken. Highly recommended it.

Maro was a nice eating experience, good service and ambience was romantic. But the $6 tiny empanada? Everything else was great but not the value for the tiny empanada. I do recommend the chicken parm and the grilled salad. Delicious both! Please be generous and make the empanadas a decent size :)

This place is considered an Argentine restaurant. Using Mesquite wood to grill. But the food and Chimmichuri sauce leave a lot to be desired. And no table side bread?? What kind of "Argentine" spot is this. Decent ambiance. The lunch server is also the chef. He is Italian - his words. Not the owner. Service is Not warm/welcoming. (2.5/5). The appetizers: 1) Edamame - wood grilled (4.6/5) - tasty; had a grilled flavor. 2) Argentine Chorizo/Sausage - Bell Peppers and onions. While tasty, we expected a grilled sausage. Not sliced sausage mixed with bell peppers 'n onions. (4/5). The main Dishes: 1) Skirt Steak - Mesquite grilled hand cut Skirt steak, topped with chimichurri and served with mixed roasted veggies and potatoes - a bit over-cooked; good taste. The bad - a few cuts of potatoes, a pieces of broccoli and overcooked carrots, decent taste; but the small amount is surprising considering the price. (3.8/5). 2) Maro's Hand Cut Steak - Hand-cut Ribeye CAP steak, served with chimichurri and mixed roasted vegetables and potatoes. Good grilled tasty but not as tender I had hoped. The bad: same issue; small amount of veggies. Too stingy! Drinks: 2 beers and one glass of Cabernet. (5/5). My mother had a lot of stomach pain from eating the food. A lot of be desired for paying $260. If you're in LA - Check out Carlitos Gardel Argentine, it's way better in every capacity, from the service to the food. I don't recommend this place.

Server was very kind :) Food was great and prices were right! The salad i got was perfect and the empanada was delish.

The Greek meaning of Maro - " the hero of sweet wine" This is such a delightful little Mediterranean bistro in Laguna Beach . It's such a romantic, beautifully lit little gem. ( it really gives you all the feels.) We enjoyed their handmade mushroom empanada , the most delicious Shishido peppers with fresh ginger ... the fresh and delicious pear salad, and a ribeye steak with potatoes and zucchini's. With a chimichurri sauce that was outstanding! We made a reservation at 5:30. We were the first couple to be seated and believe me by 630. The place was packed , people with reservations were waiting for a table.. folks love this restaurant they love coming in here. They have a very nice wine list as well( the corkage fee is $25 ) the owners are so accommodating and attentive . Absolutely dog friendly... This could be one of my favorite little dining spots . Thank you, Maro.

Grilled vegetables served with horseradish aioli!! It's heaven, try sausages & peppers!

We have been to Maro ever since they opened, the food is fantastic. The combination of the new menu covers everything from steaks, pastas, risottos & other amazing dishes, the grill that they have is second to none, service is very personable & great! Thank you Alex & Chris

    Wedgie salad... $13...

They looked amazing on their webpage. I ordered their wedge. It was literally lettuce and a small amount of bacon... tossed in dressing. It was not at all what the webpage said. We paid $90 for 2 drinks, 2 salads and 2 empanadas.

We went with a family-style approach so we could try a bit of everything. To start, we ordered the bread service--definitely worth it. The bread was warm and soft, served with a tomato topping and two incredible butters: a rosemary butter with a subtle citrus note and a rich beef tallow. We shared the wedge salad, which was phenomenal--packed with flavor and even had a slight kick that really elevated it. For mains, several of us ordered the skirt steak, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My mother-in-law had the filet and loved it. We paired everything with two bottles of Daou Cabernet, which complemented the meal beautifully. The sides were just as memorable--we ordered two mac & cheeses (so good), a baked potato, honey-glazed carrots (a standout), and mushrooms. Everything was delicious and perfect for sharing. The ambiance and service really made the night. We sat outside under a pergola with beautiful lighting, which created such a cozy and special atmosphere. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made the entire evening feel seamless. Overall, Selanne Steak Tavern is absolutely worth the price for a special occasion. By the end of the night, all of us were already saying we couldn't wait to come back.

What we received in return was some of the worst customer service I've experienced. We were informed that if our staff wanted any additional food, they would have to leave the event, abandon our clients, go inside the restaurant, and place a separate order. While I may not agree with that policy, I can respect that every business has its own rules. What was completely unacceptable was the way I was treated by the manager, Enzo. She spoke to me in an abrasive, dismissive manner and made it clear that customer service was not a priority. To make matters worse, she walked away in the middle of our conversation, saying she needed to deal with someone else, and then proceeded to complain about me to members of the company. How unprofessional can you be? This is exactly what separates great restaurants from mediocre ones. Policies are one thing, but respect, professionalism, and customer service are what guests remember. If you don't appreciate the people spending their hard-earned money in your establishment, perhaps hospitality is the wrong business for you. With so many excellent restaurants competing for customers, it's hard to understand how behavior like this is considered acceptable.

You're basically just going through the motions, my friend. We paired it with their ice cream fudge sundae, and we could not have been happier with our decision. The moment that warm butter cake hits the table, pure joy consumes your soul. Anticipation builds like you're about to open the best gift ever. The only logical response is to grab a spoon (yes, a spoon because a for would be a travesty of a mistake) because you need the perfect ratio of buttery cake, berry compote, and ice cream in every single bite. You carve that first perfect scoop, lift it toward your mouth, and suddenly your taste buds are doing an Olympic-level gymnastics routine--sticking the landing with a gold medal performance. It's a holy, almost spiritual experience you desperately hope never ends. By the final bite, you're slumped back in your seat, practically begging for a belly rub like a satisfied golden retriever, whispering a quiet prayer that this isn't the last time you'll experience this life-changing dessert. Ps. The service is amazing and the vibe is perfect for a date, a night with friends, or a celebration.

I always go for the ribeye melt or the French dip (order while it lasts). Both are absolutely to die for. The au jus is drinkable, and I could eat the Worcester sauce with a spoon. Next up, the butter cake. Oh my god, this thing is to die for. Although we're always stuffed after our well portioned entrees, we never ever leave without ordering it. The cake is rich and crumbly. And the compote complements it perfectly, although I always wish there was more. The little mint leaves are also a wonderful bit of added flavor. If you go for the sides, I would highly recommend the potato salad. It's slightly more acidic than most, and it has little bits of bacon, which give you little bites of smokeyness. The one time I didn't order the potato salad, I got the blue cheese and tomatoes instead. It was more of an underwhelming side because it was - you guessed it- just blue cheese and tomatoes. Probably a little bit of an interpretation mistake on my part... Overall, you can get an incredible entre for around $18. This is very competitive with other restaurants even outside Laguna Beach. Delicious food, and great value for your dollar.

I can only imagine how stunning it must be during breakfast or brunch hours. Definitely make a reservation, and valet parking is highly recommended since street parking can be a bit tight. Now, let's talk about the food... WOW! Every dish was beautifully presented and thoughtfully crafted. You can tell a lot of creativity and attention goes into each plate. The cocktails were equally impressive--perfectly balanced and delicious. This is one of those places where the presentation is almost too pretty to eat! The only area with room for improvement is the service. While everyone was pleasant, the attentiveness didn't quite match the exceptional food and atmosphere. There were small details that were missed, such as delays in getting water, ordering drinks, and having silverware and a steak knife ready when the food arrived. Our server seemed a bit distracted and not as warm or engaging as expected for a dining experience of this caliber. That said, the food absolutely stole the show and made the evening memorable. With just a little more attention to service, this place could easily deliver a truly outstanding experience from start to finish. We got seated at our table at our table around 4:30p and had the most perfect view of the ocean! *we went on a Friday night and noticed the patio cleared out about 4:45-5pm and I didn't appear to have a lot of people waiting during that time. The main patio was covered with umbrellas, so once you are seated for dinner, there was plenty of umbrellas for shade and heaters for when it got a little cooler. For our food orders, and as recommended by our server, we went with their seafood options and ordered their Pacific Ceviche for an appetizer and for Entrees my husband got the Roasted Halibut and me and my mother-in-law both got the Scallop and Shrimp pasta. We all loved our dishes and were very satisfied with our choices. Their menu does have non-seafood options, but why not to try what they're most prominent for? They don't have a dessert menu, but they heard that we were celebrating mom's birthday so they brought us a little Toffee Cake to share and enjoy...and for a place that doesn't have dessert, the cake was pretty delicious. Upon arrival, you'll find that the valet completely disregards the flow of the street. They use the southbound lane as a parking lot, effectively turning a small two-way road into a one-way alley. The valet guys were also rude to people trying to drive through for no apparent reason. When sitting outside on the deck, there are 12 heaters available, but the hostess wouldn't turn them on. (I've eaten at many waterfront restaurants, and they all turn the heaters on--especially when the temperature drops from 80°F and sunny to 68°F after the sun goes down.) The website states no seating after 8 p.m., yet they were still seating people well after 8:15. The menu was also not what I was expecting. While waiting for dinner, the aroma of marijuana drifted across the dining area. (I know they can't control what happens outside their establishment.) the deck is roped off because apparently it's unsafe and could fall off at any moment in addition to the rotting floor. The food: The menu is underwhelming. I ordered the chicken with sun-dried tomato risotto and vegetables. The risotto was undercooked and flavorless, and the chicken was also lacking flavor. I sampled the New York steak with mashed potatoes--the steak was cooked well, but the potatoes were cold. We didn't even bother ordering dessert and went elsewhere instead.

It was pretty fatty, but I think that leant to the good flavor and juiciness. It wasn't a massive meal, but I was full after finishing it. My husband got the shrimp pasta and that was VERY good! He scraped his plate clean and raved about it. We split the artichoke appetizer- this I wouldn't get again. It was good in the beginning and the dipping sauce was yummy, but as you ate the artichoke the seasoning and butter/oil ran out and it became gradually less flavorful and more tough. Not to say it was bad, we've just had better. Ultimately the 4/5 is mostly for pricing, it isn't cheap, but given the location the price is pretty comparable to other restaurants in the area.
