We stayed a couple nights at the Montage Laguna Beach and one of the days I spent the day down by the pool. I ordered the Ahi Bowl for lunch and it was fabulous! I swapped out the rice for mixed greens, which I would definitely recommend because it was so flavorful. I can't speak for eating in the restaurant but my server was so sweet, and very helpful, I think her name was Kate. The restaurant looks really nice, with beautiful views of the ocean, but eating down by the pool was definitely the best seat in the place. But even if you can't be down by the pool, I'd highly recommend eating at Mosaic. read more

One of my very spots in Orange County the Montage hotel. First time eating at the Mosaic grill though, didn't disappoint. Everything we ordered was 8-9/10. Service was mediocre with the exception of our waiter Dee, she was amazing! I'm speaking of in general, we were asking to sit where the sun was not hitting us and was turned down twice due to tables were already reserved, even though parties still have not arrived by the time we left. The view is definitely picturesque from pretty much anywhere you sit though, so definitely worth the extra price of the food just for the view. You can either opt for valet parking for free if you spend over $100 or pay the fee unsure how much. Or self parking around the corner (spaces limited) for a small fee per hour - 3 hour limit. Haven't been in a year since remodel. We are local and Montage junkies. Meni limited & pricey for average food. The guitar player had to compete with wedding party musicians so hard to hear both simultaneously. As for food: Salad with salmon was so bland, not a good dressing (loved the previous one that was on the menu for years), burger was ok and halibut was ok on its own except the very salty Veracruz sauce overwhelmed. Wine choices nice Our server was terrible, she was unfriendly and distant, maybe too many tables and PG?? Could have cared less if anyone wasn't happy with the meal. We had a lovely late lunch with dear friends here, after spending a fantastic beach day. What a nice way to take a break and sit back for some delicious food overlooking the ocean and the pool. We ordered nachos to share which were truly special. They had pepper jack cheese, pinto beans, olives, avocado, green onions, sour cream, jalapenos and the option for chicken, steak, shrimp or lobster. We chose to not add protein and I don't think we needed it. I would definitely order again! We also ordered this awesome chicken sandwich which had a choice of french fries, sweet potato fries, mixed greens or fruit. We went for the mixed greens which was a really fresh and delicious salad that came with a perfect vinaigrette. We also had their ceviche but that was really just okay. It was definitely not amazing and I would not get again. We ended up feeding our little guy off of us which I would do again. Mosaic is EXPENSIVE (all caps on purpose) and the kids menu is no exception. Service was excellent and they refilled our water continuously which was great because it was really hot. Validation was included in our hefty albeit "worth it" bill and this was a terrific perk. While we were under the impression it would make our $30 parking half price, when we left we ended up paying the tip only! read more

We came here for drinks and appetizers before dinner. We were staying at the hotel and wanted to enjoy the water while having some refreshments. The service staff was nice but I felt like there were often times we were needing something and couldn't find them. I'd think they'd be a bit more attentive with the pricing here. I got the frosé all day and it's definitely a strong drink! If you want something refreshing, strong and frozen then get this. We also got the calamari and ahi tartare. We really enjoyed both dishes! The ahi was light and refreshing but I wish the wonton chips were a little thicker or crispier because some of them were very crumbly. The calamari was nice and crispy and I liked it best with the marinara. Overall, a nice spot if you're staying at the hotel and want more casual food! We also ate at the Loft for dinner and I thought the food here was better than at their nicer restaurant. I'd rather have had dinner here. read more

I've been coming to the Mosaic since I was a child. This is a must-try spot if you're in OC. The view is breathtaking, the food is delicious, the service is always top-tier. Was excited to try this place after trying out the spa. We stopped by for lunch on a Tuesday and it was easy to get water view seats for two. View 5/5: Water and lawn views while you enjoy your food no complaints. Food 3.5/5: We ordered the ceviche for an app and were very satisfied. Was probably the highlight of the meal. Generous portions of shrimp soaked in lime and topped with fresh avocados. Served with generous portions of fresh tortilla chips. For mains we ordered the swordfish tacos and the lobster quesadilla. The lobster quesadilla was tasty with a warm grilled tortilla bread and melted cheese. The tacos were underwhelming lacking flavor and on the dry side. Drinks 3/5: margaritas served out of plastic cups assuming because the restaurant is adjacent to the pool. Drinks were average at best. If you're looking for good food and drinks with water view I would recommend Blu180 at the Ritz which is not far away from this place. Still worth checking out if you're staying at the hotel or using spa services. read more

My sister and I came here on a Monday and we ordered a hummus plate sort of dish and the ceviche. Both had good flavor. I wished that the hummus plate had more tomatoes and cucumbers instead of celery but that's honestly not a big deal. The beer was good, my sister got a piña colada and that was really really delicious. The ceviche was good and had serranos which added a nice spice. The service was a bit lacking. We needed to flag our waitress down to order and later to get the check, and this took quite a bit of time. There were long periods where she did not check in with us and we would've probably ordered additional drinks if she had. It seemed like she was quite busy so this was not a fault of her's but likely insufficient staffing and management issues. Nonetheless it was a bit frustrating. This restaurant is great if you're spending time at the pool, though, and had a good variety of items. We lounged by the pool the entire time we were dining. There are also tables with a nice view of the beach and ocean. Be prepared to spend quite a bit of money, though. read more

Food is terrible. Kids portions are very tiny and very expensive. I got fish tacos. They came out with two tiny tacos with little chopped up pieces of fish. It was not good. Great pool side restaurant and pool side service! Dined at the restaurant and had pool side service several times while staying at the Montage. Simple menu with a wonderful selection of items for all. As a vegetarian, my options were a few salads, the Impossible Burger, the Superfoods Bowl, the tacos with tofu and the Avocado Pita. I had the tacos and the bowl (a few times since it was so good). My bf had the chips and salsa w guacamole, swordfish tacos, salmon tacos, lobster quesadilla, Cesar Salad and a few Bloody Marys. Everything was outstanding! Although we loved everything, the highlights were the guacamole and Superfoods Bowl. The guacamole had chunks of onion, tomatoes and avocado in it and appeared to be seasoned with lemon and salt. The tofu in my bowl was perfectly cooked and seasoned with Cajun spices. The edges were crispy and the center was smooth and firm. Service both at the restaurant and by the pool was remarkable. Poolside, for both Saturday and Sunday, we were fortunate to have Renzo as our server. Renzo was top notch! He was friendly, professional, hyper-attentive, personable and helpful. He even remembered our order from the prior day. Camela, Renzo's sister, was a doll and wonderful! She was super friendly and helpful. She kept us well hydrated. As for pricing, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for... amazing service, outstanding food and convenience = higher prices. If you're staying at the Montage and lounging by the pool, you definitely have to try their poolside service. read more

My wife and I were visiting the Montage for our wedding anniversary this weekend. We had been to the Mosaic Bar & Grille in the past and enjoyed the experience. On this visit, we asked the hosts if they would be able to accommodate a party of two for lunch. We were told that a table would be opening up in 20 minutes and to share a phone number so that their staff could call us once the table was ready. After going back to the hotel lobby and waiting for almost 40 minutes without any phone call or messages, my wife and I decided to go back to the restaurant to check if the table was ready since plenty of time had passed. We asked the hosts if the table was ready and they confirmed our name. After a brief check, one of the hosts informed us that that unfortunately a table was not ready and that we would need to wait another 30 minutes before being seated. Although we explained that we did not have time to keep waiting for a table since we had a babysitter and could only spend so much time at lunch, the host just apologized to us and did not attempt to reconcile the issue by accommodating us or offering a complimentary meal/drink. We quickly decided that we would be leaving the property and went to a different restaurant nearby that could seat us. It was not until an hour and a half that we received a call from Mosaic by which time we were seated at another restaurant and being served an appetizer. Extremely disappointed with Mosaic's poor customer service. The arrogance of their staff in thinking that peoples' time is an afterthought because they are employed at the Montage Resort is an embarrassment. Prestigious places like the Montage should be renowned for customer service. This experience leaves a sour taste and dampened a special occasion. read more

Today was a great day to come out and visit in the Montage Hotel in the pool area near the spa for some R and R. The pool attendants are wonderful. I had the chopped Lobster Salad and iced tea. The salad, which was a steep $40, had one huge piece of lobster with chopped romaine lettuce, diced mango, and Sun-Dried Tomatoes on it. I feel that the salad fell a little short. I hardly tasted any dressing, and for $40 it better be real flavorful. The iced tea was refreshing. The service was excellent. The calming ocean atmosphere was a rewarding experience. They start serving food at 11am daily, so be sure to grab a lounge chair early for the perfect spot for the ultimate sunbathing experience. This wasn't my first time at Mosaic, so don't order the Baja fish tacos, it's mostly dry, but do try their shrimp cocktail or their burgers. Those are your best bet! This place is ultra pricey, so you have been warned.. read more
