This was my second time here in the last 6 months. This time, my experience rocked!!! I was the only person for the early camel ride & the guys remembered me. Since there were no other guests, we did more & they made sure I had a GREAT time! Lots of laughs & great camel discussions with Josef! For those who are apprehensive about the camel ride, don't be. You get a helmet. They take extra care with the camels. Basically, there is a team of 3 guys leading & walking along with them. The ride is leisurely and nice beneath the palm trees along the beach. It was windy so no mosquitos. So relaxing! Included with the camel ride is a beach day pass and a buffet and open bar! I will be back! read more

My resort recommended this scuba dive experience. I'm seeing some poor reviews, but it appears they are old. My refresher scuba dive experience was awesome. Though I'm an advanced open water diver with approximately 20 dives, I felt a refresher would be in order since my last dive was approximately five years ago. One of my buddies had not dove in a couple of decades. My other buddy had some dive experience, but had never been certified. Our instructor and Dive Master Alejandro was very personable and pleasant, yet serious about the safety of all the divers, not only in the outdoor classroom environment, but also in the boat, and then in the water. I'd like to add, that he is a very good and skilled instructor. Though I brought my own regulator and BCD, the crew prepared my equipment, as well as everybody else's provided equipment. The dives well, and afterwards Alejandro completed several items in my dive log. I take the safety in diving very seriously, and I would definitely come back to this crew. As far as some of the reviews on the provided meals, we had some choices, including some fresh hot pizza, which we took advantage of. The service also facilitated our transportation back to our resort, which was made super easy. I would certainly recommend this experience . read more

Scuba scammed us. They had us sit at a table for an hour after scuba and ignored our plea for some type of service. We sat at a table with food splattered all over it for 30 mins before I went to get a towel and clean it off. Then I had to go get the scuba guys to tell the restaurant to please give my kids some food. With 8 mins left before we had to leave they brought out one plate of chips for 6 people. Scuba was fine but don't tell me we get food after if we are not. So most iur time was spent driving in the van and at a dirty table staring at each other. read more

This place should come with a warning label. I would give it a zero if I could. My husband and I did the intro to scuba experience. I was PADI certified but had not gone diving in a long time but not so long that I forgot everything. My husband had never gone diving. We were a group of 8 with two dive instructors. No one looked at my pre dive questionnaire. They would have questioned me if they had. That's the point! The pre dive safety instruction was rushed and difficult to understand. The equipment was very basic, the mouth pieces from the BCD's fit strangely and it was hard to get a good seal. We later both ended up with staph infections on our faces where the masks sit. On the dive, one of the instructors was poking at some of the underwater life. Not a lot of respect for the reef. On another note, as we were waiting for our experience to start, we were hoodwinked by the staff at the facility. They sold us another experience for a day that the experience wasn't even available. They new in advance this was the case because when I looked at the website after we booked it said clearly it was not available on that day. We did get a refund but it was a complete waste of time. I am also concerned about how they care for their animals. There is a clear weight limit for riding the camels. There were definitely people way over that limit riding those poor camels. Between how they care for their camels and the way they disrespect the reef, I feel very sorry for the dolphins they are holding captive! STAY FAR AWAY!!! Add to that, they are expensive! We booked the rest of our excursions elsewhere and were much happier! read more

If you're staying anywhere near Playa del Carmen, Rivera Maya or Cancun, then a day excursion to Maroma Beach is a must. Sexy and I were in Playa del Carmen for 8 days and we knew an activity excursion would be in our future. We booked everything through our hotel (including transportation) and off we were for some ATV and speedboat fun. There are several activity options including wave runners, snorkeling, parasailing, horseback riding and even camel riding on the beach. Holy hell, those suckers are TALL! We laughed our asses off the entire time. The guides were funny and the people in our groups were super cool. They even have a tiki bar with swings around it...perfect for a post-excursion cocktail (or a pre-excursion cocktail if you're nervous about your chosen activities). They have lockers that you can put your belongings in while you're out and about, so no need to leave everything back at your hotel. They try to upsell you the professional pictures they take during your activities pretty hard, but they will take "no" for an answer (eventually). Not only were the activities fun but the beach was one of the prettiest I've ever been to. The sand was like white "pow-dah" (as my mother would say). This is worth the 30 minute ride. Booked this adventure via a discount site and we had a good time on our adventures of ATV and Jetskiing. The beach is beautiful, the grounds and equipment are well kept as well. The guides were very friendly, clear in their instructions, make sure you are safe, etc. They do ask for a tip afterwards, so bring some cash if you'd like to do that. Like others have mentioned, everything is done in caravan - so if you like to adventure more independently this probably won't be for you, and if you are following someone slow, it can be a little annoying, but I get that it's for safety reasons. The ATV terrain is pretty flat though you get to go on roads, dirt and rocky paths as well as sand. Water here was perfect for jetskiing and gorgeous. Lockers are available before / after each excursion to store your things for free. Included in the price are chips, salsa/beans and water / soda, which you can enjoy after you're done...they hit the spot for us after we were done, and we also had use of their beach chairs, beach club, showers, etc. There is a cool sand bar you can basically walk to way out into the ocean where the buoy is anchored, which is pretty nice as well as a calm area to hammock, hang out, etc. Luckily, we decided to bring our GoPro, so we were able to take some photos without having to pay for them - cell phones and selfie sticks are not allowed. And we also decided to drive to Maroma so was able to park for free, not be rushed in / out after our excursions, and could just enjoy the beach for the day as long as we liked. read more

Really enjoyed our trip on the Happy Ending catamaran with Victor, Cheese Ball and his crew!! They were all very friendly and informative. Victor found a starfish, lobster, sting ray and an eel!!! Great guide!! Then we did the spinacar like parasail almost but just swinging in the air!!! Victor fed some of the fish so they all came very close to us it was awesome. I highly recommend this tour. The paparazzi went with us as well so pictures and video are available. Free drinks and snacks. Great day. read more

This is a scam!! We've visited Mexico every year for the past 5 years and we always have a great time on excursions. This time we were ripped off!! We purchased tickets for catamaran and snorkeling and the company canceled without notice and stated that they were overbooked and they did not have space. They are refusing to give us a refund because they said they offered us another day. How can you cancel me the day of and assume I have nothing planned for the next day? We could not go the next day because we had a prior engagement. I truly believe they do this on purpose to steal your money and TripAdvisor is allowing them to do this. Had a great day diving with these guys! I'm a little surprised by the low rating on YELP!! What a terrific group of diver master, instructors and boat captain. I am a certified open water diver and have gone diving all over the world but haven't ben in a while and S is thinking of getting certified so I took a resort dive with him. They were patient and on top of their game, so the three certified divers could go with three new divers (two of whom were so nervous they ended up not doing the second dive). I had some difficulty regulating my ears and no problems because one of the instructors descended slower with me so I could enjoy the dive without ear problems. They pointed out many interesting thins in the coral as well as a peacock flounder and a family of spiny lobster cool!! Best of all, they sent a photographer with you, so you can get some good shots to take home! TIP: be sure to bring biodegradable sunscreen they don't sell it there, but they won't let you use yours if it's not biodegradable as it damages the reef and none of us want to do that! read more

We booked an excursion day here through our hotel concierge. There are a lot of options of things to do. And depending on what you are wanting to do you can do at least 2, maybe three different activities in a day (all for a new price, of course). We were picked up in a small van at our hotel, on time, and were on our way. There were 4 of us and three of us wanted to horseback riding, and three of us wanted to go parasailing. The remaining odd man out for the activities was able to sit on the beach or in the shade near the restaurant while the rest were getting their adventure on. With each activity, you get a wristband, which also gets you "snacks" and a non-alcoholic drink afterwards (snacks being chips and dips) and there is a bar where you are welcome to order alcoholic drinks. We started with horseback riding. You are dropped off outside the entrance of the grounds, before the gate. It would be helpful to not have too much stuff with you for this activity, as you need to take it with you (lockers in the cafe/building where the bathrooms are might be nice...especially since you end where you start, before being picked up again to be brought to the central location for the rest of the activities). If your things aren't too big, you can probably carry them along with you on the saddle. Our guide "Cowboy" and Carlito were super friendly and made the ride so much fun! It wasn't so much "Horseback Riding On The Beach" as it was "Horseback riding through the jungle and a parking lot, past construction sites to a patch of beach and back", but the jungle and beach parts were still lovely! And there were photos happening on the beach (for purchase afterwards). It was a lovely time, all around. After a quick snack and a brief gander at our photos, making sure we could get our photos for both activities after the second one, all on one disc and paid together (yes and yes), the three of us headed off for parasailing. You pay a $2 (US) dock fee when you enter. Your group is called and you head out on the pier and get on a speed boat. our little jaunt was beautiful and peaceful and made me wish we could have been out on a boat all day long. Once out far enough, you are given a lifejacket to put on and, by pairs, you get to go up. We had smooth sailing, and up in the air it is so quiet and peaceful. You can see fish and turtles and dolphins if they are around. Take off and landing is super simple and easy. And again, there is a photographer on board documenting for you. I was worried about bringing my phone or camera on to the boat with us, but I remained completely dry, aside from a little spray, and my phone would have been safe and maybe we wouldn't have needed to buy the photos. But better safe than sorry! We bought our photo disc and waited for our return transportation. A cadre of drivers walked in to the restaurant area and hotel names were called. When you heard your hotel name, you followed that driver to their van or bus and they take you back to your home base. I really enjoyed our adventures, and would definitely come back again for other activities (snorkeling, swimming with dolphins, fishing, etc.). read more

What a great place to go. It's about an hour away from Cancun. We got there early.. Swam in the ocean, at food and did two activities. 1) ATV - do it. It's a must, you go through the wilderness, mud puddles, tunnels of trees and branches, around a gorgeous pond, and eventually on the white sand beach! Amazing. I went with 3 other guys and this was the highlight of our day. 2) speed boats. If you're looking for a rush, this isn't it. It's much calmer than jet ski's. I would prefer jet skiing over the speed boats. If you're going as a couple and your lady doesn't want to go too excited, then the speed boats might be ok. Is it worth it? Eh.. It was cool, but like I said, do the jet skis if you can 3) the food was fairly inexpensive and it wasn't bad. It's a beautiful little place. The beach was wonderful. 4) the guys that help you, especially on the ATV, ask for tips, be sure to give 5 or 10 dollars per excursion cause they do a good job. 4) we booked this through Lamas Travels at the Riu Peninsula. read more

FUN day trip with many activities offered. I chose camel riding along the beach but there's so many other things to do if you so choose. Transportation to and from the hotel made for an easy, care free day. There is a buffet there as well if you need something to snack on. The crew of Marcos,Noel and Philly did a great job of keeping the lines untangled and in the water as soon as possible and as long as possible! Nice smiling and energetic crew. Got into some Mahi Mahi and had a silver Marlin on the line. Cooked our Mahi with fixings (no charge) and had lunch on the beach!! Awesome vacation experience. I signed up for the Jet Ski tour. There was a thunderstorm that morning with driving rain and lots of lighting. Our tour was supposed to start at 9am, we waited until around noon hoping for the storm to stop, but it didn't. We asked for refund, but were refused since they said we could technically go jet skiing in the weather. I don't know how you could jet ski in a thunderstorm. I would have been OK with just a partial refund since they did pick me up from the hotel, but they refused that too. If they think jet skiing in a storm is acceptable, I wouldn't recommend them at all. read more

Maroma Adventures is an activity company since 2001 located at the small marina at Maroma Beach, halfway between Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen in Riviera Maya. You will see the sign to Maroma Beach from the Cancun-Chetumal Federal Highway. The company will send their van to your resort for pick-up and drop-off. Maroma Adventures offers different water and land activities, or combinations thereof. The water activities include snorkeling, scuba diving, speed boats, fishing expeditions and catamaran sailing. The land activities include All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs), camel safaris and horseback riding. They also offer a Swimming with Dolphins activity in their dolphinarium. They have combo options. We did the speedboat and the ATV combo. They let my son drive the speedboat and he was 11 years old. Their staff are friendly and speak English. One of the guys formerly lived near me in Orange County. The prices were reasonable. The activity pictures they take of you were overpriced though They have a restaurant to get snacks and drinks and a meal. This beach has the best sand (powder white) of all the beaches in the area, and is regarded as one of the best beaches in the world. The water is aqua-marine and there is no sea grass. Maroma Beach has been named a Travel Channel's Top Ten Beaches in the World. read more

Three friends and I took a $320 peso ride to Maroma Adventures. The entrance is $200 pesos which gives you a right to beach chairs, shade and showers. I ordered nachos and the cheese was the type you get from the glass bottle or can. I expressed my discontent and the waiter sent the captain or manager. I asked him, "Would you order nachos if they were served with cheese like that?" He answered no. I had finished almost half because I was hungry. He offered to put fresh white cheese on the nachos but I told him I was full and not to bother. When I got the bill later on, the nachos were on the bill, when in fact the captain or manager had told me that he would cancel the charge. I told the waiter and he said that they can't cancel because the dish had left the kitchen. ??? That is the most ridiculous reason I've ever heard for charging a customer for a horrible dish. Moreover, the waiter wouldn't write down our order. I don't know what it is about wait staff who don't write clients' orders. This doesn't impress me. I asked for a plain limeade, not one with sparkling water. He brought me a sparkling water limeade. I told him. He took the limeade and gave it to his friends who were enjoying the beach too. I was appalled. I called his attention and told him I had drank from it. He said he thought I just noticed the sparkles in the water without trying it. He proceeded to take the limeade away from his friend. After spending a few hours at Maroma, I decided to leave. Because I was leaving without my friends, I decided to head back to Playa del Carmen via "colectivo" which was only $25 pesos. But to get to the highway where colectivos pass, you have to walk 3 kms which was too far considering the heat. I asked for a taxi and he said it's $7.50 USD to take me to the highway to take a colectivo. That's the stipulated price Maroma Adventures has set. I didn't accept the rate. A staff person told me I could go to the guard entrance and see if someone would give me a ride to the road. I thought it would be complicated and it wasn't. The guard told me to ask the bus driver that happened to be leaving the complex. I made a stop signal and the bus driver opened the bus door. I asked him if he'd give me a ride to the highway. He did. It was a bus with employees of Maroma heading back to Playa. I was embarrassed to ask him for a ride all the way to Playa del Carmen but at least he took me to the road. Needless to stay, while Maroma beach is beautiful, it's a tourist trap with sub par food where you'll get nachos with canned cheese. read more

We had a good time on the adventures. The reason for the bad review is the customer Service for their PHOTOGRAPHER. Keep in mind these guys are on the prowl. They will take some amazing photos/video of you but know that they will want to charge a lot of money for one single photo. ******They charge you $20.00 USD per photo My husband and I paid $100 dollars for a total of 73 photos and 1 video. ON TOP OF PAYING FOR THE ACTUAL EXCURSION. We did 3 events here (parasailing, ATV, Speed Boat) 1. The CD they put my photos in was empty! No photos 2. The guys I was asked to contact was Nestor Becerill Maroma@photoextreme.com he never sent me what I paid for. I was missing some images and my videos! They guy just won't reply. *All excursions are "caravan" *They all expect a Tip. They will ask for a tip at the end of your experience. (Take cash if you choose to tip these guys. Very nice people) *You can negotiate the price for your photos! *Ask them to email your the photos or have them open the CD of images in front of you. *they provide a snack after your excursion. Chips, salsa, beans and a soft drink. If you are hungry they do have a restaurant and CASH bar. *ALL of their merchandise is overpriced! *Try to take a GOPRO CAMERA or your own photos to capture your experience. *they have a very clean and friendly environment. read more

The actual ATV/waverunner ride was fun. The pickup was late, and the tour instructions failed to mention the 1.5 hour adventure would really have you gone for 6 hours. It was an hours drive away, plus additional time to pick up and drop off people from other hotels. It also wasn't clear that both activities were riding double. The waverunner tour guide told us that pizza water and chips were free but then we were told to pay $24, and when I confronted the guy he denied it. Funny that three different families heard it. Pictures were taken but we couldn't buy anything due to losing $24. Pictures were beautiful but $20 each. read more

I feel completely misrepresented on this excursion. We paid to take one of their Catamarans out that looked like a first class sailboat in the catalog. We were going to go snorkeling. The Ad said we would go sailing and maybe even do a parasail off the back if the wind conditions were ok. Little did we know our boat wouldn't look like the one in the picture. It was a total piece of crap. It wasn't actually able to sail. I know this because my brother is a master sailer and just by looking at it he could see that the boat was not physically capable of sailing. The sails hadn't been raised in YEARS. I was joking beforehand that we would be just going 100 meters off the coast to snorkel and then come back. But that's actually what happened! All snorkling I have ever done consisted of going a good distance into the ocean to see things. When we actually got into the water, I saw maybe 20 fish the entire time and that was it. On the way back from 100 meters out the captain informed us that we couldn't do the parasailing because the "winds were too rough, and above us they are swirling which can cause us to crash into the water" I am a pilot and I know that is a ton of BS. I could pull up the winds for surface, 1000 feet up and so on and everything was going smooth in the same direction. These guys didn't even have a parasail on board! Total RIP OFF. STAY AWAY FROM THIS NASTY RIP OFF. read more

Maroma Adventures What can I say but, Pepé!! A large group of us, while on a business trip, selected snorkeling for our "activity" and Maroma Adventures was our provider. Our crew of catamaran guides were lead by Pepé, a warm, patient, generous adventure professional. The boat was very clean and well maintained. The safety lecture was thorough and serious, while remaining accessible and open to guest questions. We were offered copious refreshments and always made to feel comfortable. We snorkled in two locations along the second largest reef on the planet. Pepé fed the fish and brought us down to see rays, lobsters, and beautiful blue colored fish that swim in and out of the coral with tremendous grace. When we had finished snorkling, those seeking extra adventure could avail themselves of a wind ride by being seated on a swing mounted to a spinnaker (sail). They whipped around but were never unsafe. The depth was right and there were Pepé's crew in the water ready to intervene if necessary. Everyone on board had a great sense of humor and when we were returned to land we were satisfied, elated, and relaxed. This is one of the best adventure companies with whom I have ever done business anywhere in the world. read more

Thanks to you my new phone was only half off since I could trade my old one in! :D We only used the snorkeling/catamaran deal. My super duper cool boss booked this excursion for my company. He's the kind of guy that you can trust fully when it comes to events like these. He does extensive research and always plans efficiently. The Maroma shuttle picked up I think like 25ish of us from our Hotel (Riu Palace) and off we went! After maybe driving 15ish mins, we arrived to the Hut of Maroma Adventures. Right in front of the beach. WISH I HAD PICTURES :( Since I dropped my iPhone, all my pics are gone... At the hut, they had a bar stand, cute swings to sit in, a place to actually sit, a small shopping place, and etc. Weather: Most people know that Mexico is hot as hades, but when we went, it was perfect. It was actually pre-storm weather. (usually pre storm weather lasts a few hours). Luckily, for us, the pre storm weather was JUST starting therefore we had at least 4 hours to have fun before a storm hit. Boat: I swear we had like 25-30 people on this boat and it was completely fine. I'm not an expert on boats but I do get a little weary of them. Nothing went wrong. In fact - our Booze Cruise made other boats jealous. We had music, a ton of alcohol, a strip tease captain (lol), and a mesh area! So fun. We had 2 stops for the snorkeling. Pepe let me feed the fish! (they had fish food in a bottle water container). Pepe and his crew explained thoroughly what to do and what not to do. At the end, we had Linner. The choices were Steak, Lobster, or Surf N Turk (Steak and Lobster). Since our resort food was kind of bad, this was a nice break. This is an excellent location for adventurous excursions in Playa Del Carmen. There is a steady stream of shuttles throughout the day from the various local hotels and vacation planners. The scuba diving gear, ATVs, jet-skis and speed boats are well taken care of relative to other local shops. The guides speak English well, though some excursions can get very large. The prices for the images\videos of the excursions are well above other comparable places, although the event prices were in line with average and they did not seem to mind the use of personal cameras. Overall, this is the best source of adventurous excursions in the area and I highly recommend. read more

Husband and I booked excursions through Lomas travel at our resort which is the Bahia Principe Talum to ride ATVs, speed boats and het skis, when we arrived they told us we only had two activities, if I didn't have proof in writing this would have been their first con, so then they came back and stated as a courtesy they would give us the three, wonderful. Also as part of our excursion we also were told we had lunch included but to our surprise when we finished our activities they said we only had snacks, and tried to push is into buying lunch, very shady and disappointing indeed,. So while in Mexico trust no one, make sure everything is in writing. This is our third trip to Maroma beach activity center and this has never happened before, shame on them. the only reason i'm giving three stars is because of the meal we had at the end of our day here. we went deep sea fishing with a group of five people and were able to catch two mahi's and one wahoo that were prepared in two different ways and tasted incredible. the service at the restaurant was great. but the fishing trip itself was another story due to the mate on our ship named Ceaser. this trip is not for anyone who has experience fishing- the crew fed us complete lies the entire time about fishing and the fish we were trying to catch to make themselves look better which was frustrating. caesar tried adamantly to get us to not take our fish and eat it, telling us how bad wahoo tastes and how we should just use it as a trophy. he was very aggressive the entire four hours trying to get everyone to purchase the $1500 usd plaques. he told one man on our boat when he had a fish on his line that if he didnt want it as a trophy that he would cut his line. he kept trying to push the "trophy's" on us every five minutes to the point where we were saying "he said the t word again". as much as he brought up the trophy's he also brought up tips and how we should give him big ones. he asked everyone on the boat at least ten times how much we were going to tip and when we would be tipping him, he even followed my boyfriend to the atm and told him that he needed to tip more that $40usd because it wasn't enough when we felt like it was more than generous for the amount of harassing he did. it was rude, made us uncomfortable, and was completely unacceptable. read more

We were ROBBED of our cell phone at Maroma Adventures beach club yesterday! Leo the waiter stole the phone but when we called the phone it rang in his pocket. Swimming with dolphins at Maroma was an unforgettable experience! Since our return from vacation, I have bugged everyone's ear with my amazing tale of dancing, hugging, kissing, and even swimming with the amazing Hidalgo and Isamalle! I definitely recommend upgrading to the royale swim, it was worth every penny. "Chino don't tip; gringo may." Not! Booked a morning 4 hour fishing trip for me and my son. A couple from Nebraska was assigned to the same boat. Four customers, just right. Six may be crowed, with a captain and two crew members. What seemed to be "the first mate" (I presumed) asked that couple what would they like to fish for; "marlin" was the answer (July is time of the year all kinds of fish might be caught in Cancun area.) He didn't even look at me while asking that question. Trouble! Sure enough, first bite in 15 minutes (not sure what it was, substantial bend on the rod). First mate gave the rod to the male customer. He lost it. After about two more hours of trolling, and I asked couple times if there was an chance to fish for smaller but better chance of catching a fish for my kid, they let the boat drifted and tried for another kind of fish. That guy and my son each got a fishing rod. The crew was fishing too. I was never offered a rod and line. The woman was chumming. A crew got a good size fish. Rod was given to the woman. A red snapper. Another crew's rod was bending with a substantial fish, rod was given to the guy, for the second time. He lost it again. I watched, never touched a rod. My son got a rock cod and a 3 feet sucker shark. The guy got a black snapper and a 3 feet sucker shark. Back to trolling for marlin. Nothing. Done fishing for the day. The guy wanted to taxidermy the black snapper, saying he heard it would cost $15. Not! Like $400. I gave the crew and the captain $20 USD each as tips (they worked hard), at the same time I told the first mate I was not happy that I wasn't even offered a rod! They need to know I am neither blind nor a miser. (Thus the title: "Chino don't tip; gringo may." Not!) But I am fine as long as my son got some action (and got hooked on fishing.) He'll get more action when we are back home and go after that fall salmon run in California! By the way, they used the same rods & lines they used trolling for marlin to fish for the smaller fish. Any fisherman would know that's totally inappropriate. (But if they hooked a BIG one, they would be "smart, very smart.") read more

Disappointing scuba lesson. During our stay in Playa Del Carmen, we thought it would be fun to try out scuba diving. The two of us had neither scuba dived before and we were excited and ready for the challenge. After a 1 hour class that consisted of dysfunctional explanations of water pressure, the oxygen tanks and hand signals we were put onto the boat. Once on the boat we received a 5 minute crash course of how to put everything on. We then were told to just hop off the boat into the water and start using the breathing apparatus which is very strange to use. The whole group (8 people total) jumped in. This was the "training" and you were told to immediately put your face in the water and start breathing calmly, pressurize your ears on the way down, clear your mask and deflate your vest. None of which we had practiced or been told prior to. Only 5 of the 8 people were able to go under the water as deep as necessary, while the other 3 of us were trying to better understand what we needed to do. The staff was impatient, rude and unhelpful in teaching how to scuba dive and to help beginners understand the many things that needed to be done. In the end only 4 people went on the dive (one of which was a certified diver and one who had scuba dived twice prior) and the other 4 stayed on the boat. To top it off, we got back to shore 45 minutes early and we're told it was so we could eat chips and soda. This time could have been much better used out in the ocean during the scuba lesson that I actually came for. read more

When I am on vacation I prefer to pay for experiences than trinkets and souvenirs and Maroma Adventures is very worth it. They have have lots of activities to choose from, but we decided on horse back riding and parasailing. First up was horseback riding, and our guide just said his name was Cowboy. He was friendly and funny. The horses were very well behaved and listened very well to us, the unexperienced riders, The trail was beautiful and took us through some jungle forested area and out onto the beach. A photographer meets you on the beech to take your pictures (they are expensive, but we bought them). Then came the parasailing. SO AMAZING! The time you spend actually in the air is about 12 minutes, and is not long enough. Again you have a photographer (if you have a GoPro, you can bring it up in the air with you) We, again, bought them. The ocean is the bluest blue I have ever seen. Once you have had your turn, the boat ride it self is fun, hold on, it is going to be bumpy, watch for sea turtles and stuff in the water, and have an amazing time! read more

Came here today to go on a snorkeling excursion. When we got on the jet skis, we were the last in "line." (Now, I've been on tens of jet skis in my life, and my family grew up riding them with family friends.) The tour guide, while kind, sped off at a very fast pace. With us being in the wake of five other people in front of us, our jet ski was difficult to control. After the rest of the group got about a half mile in front of us, we decided to call for help and return to shore. Upon speaking to the head of Maroma Adventures, they apologized but refused to give us our money back or transfer the credit. We offered to pay half in compensation for the TEN MINUTES we were on the equipment. (The whole excursion was supposed to take 2.5 hours.) I am so angry, disappointed, whatever other emotion you can think of. We have spent upwards of ten thousand dollars on our trip, and knowing that we wasted another few hundred for absolutely no reason breaks my heart. I will never spend another dime of my money at this facility. Or any facility related to Maroma. It's a shame, because their overwater bungalows are pretty nice. Unfortunately, I feel like that's what a lot of people in Mexico try to do - take advantage of tourists. read more

My husband and I had an amazing time at Maroma Adventures! We stayed at the Excellence Resort in Playa Mujeres for our honeymoon and were given a Camel Excursion gift, recommended by our travel agent Shore Luv Travel. We were so excited! At our hotel we were able to coordinate our trip and since it was about an hour away, we decided to go early and add on two other excursions - speed boating and ATV riding! When we got there we checked in for our camel rides and visited the bar for drinks! There were a few tables set up with handmade bags and little keepsakes to purchase and also a gift shop. We had fun just walking around! We went camel riding first and it was so much fun. The camels were cute and well trained. The views were beautiful! We stopped along the beach for the camels to rest and to take some pictures. They have photographers there and you can buy the pictures later. The trip was about 45 minutes. When we got back they gave us drinks and chips with salsa and a bean dip! So good! A perfect snack. Afterwards, we checked in for speed boating. We waited for about a half hour. The instructor goes over everything you need to know! We had a blast. The water is so clear and beautiful. The views of the sand and palm trees from the water were amazing! After this, we had another snack (more chips and dips, again good!) and waited for the ATV rides. I think it was about a half hour again. My husband let me drive the ATV because he drove the speed boat. We went through the forests and it was awesome!! We left at 3:30pm, hit some traffic on the way back and made it by 5pm. We spent 1 hour traveling there, 6 hours at Maroma on three 45-minute excursions with 3 half hour breaks, and 1 1/2 hours traveling back. Overall, we had a great day at Maroma Adventures! We definitely would have still purchased the camel rides if we didn't receive it as a gift. The added excursions made the trip worth it and were a great deal. We highly recommended going here for a fun day! Definitely sharing my pictures! Also, bring some extra cash to tip the instructor for each activity! My wife and I contracted Maroma Adventures through Amstar at the resort we were staying at for a deep sea fishing excursion. The trip was excellent and I ended up catching a fish that I believed deserved mounting. The mate on the boat, Rami, gave us the quote to get the mounting done as $884 and explicitly told us that shipping was included in this price. Maroma then turned the taxidermy over to Gray Taxidermy. Gray contacted me and suddenly with mounting, crating and shipping the costs would swell to roughly double the quote given us on the boat. read more

I would not recommend this adventure unless you want to bring your own food and drinks. We were told it had a full bar, appetizers and everything was included. Got here; towels were 5$ to rent with a 25$ deposit. Only beer and water on boat; I can't drink anything carbonated. Only appetizers were a bag of chips; and once we got back to the pier, we had chips, watery salsa and beans! All beverages were $$. Our water tour consisted of going back and forth in the same area. The snorkeling and the staff on the boat were great. The rest was a waste of time; except for the chance to be with friends and family. Only gave them stars for the staff on the boat!! read more

A waste of time, scheduled fishing trip for 2. Upon arrival 45 minute van ride, cancelled due to weather and wind conditions, why don't they call us and inform us the harbor was closed?or they could have cb radio the driver, Then waited over an hour to get a ride back to our hotel, at one point we were told ride was ready up front but no it wasn't waited another 15 minutes and was getting visibly angry when they finally called for our ride. Somebody forgot... They kept asking us to choose another activity. I didn't pay for fishing to go ride some smelly camel!! All this time nobody would or could get my refund, I have to wait and get it from expedia at the hotel. Over 3 hours now lost and still need to get refund. On a side note the others in our vacation party had a snorkeling trip planned that also cancelled at another company they were called and informed by 830 for a 130 trip...dont waste your precious vacation time with maroma nightmare adventures. read more
