    Some of the activity options

If you're staying anywhere near Playa del Carmen, Rivera Maya or Cancun, then a day excursion to Maroma Beach is a must. Sexy and I were in Playa del Carmen for 8 days and we knew an activity excursion would be in our future. We booked everything through our hotel (including transportation) and off we were for some ATV and speedboat fun. There are several activity options including wave runners, snorkeling, parasailing, horseback riding and even camel riding on the beach. Holy hell, those suckers are TALL! We laughed our asses off the entire time. The guides were funny and the people in our groups were super cool. They even have a tiki bar with swings around it...perfect for a post-excursion cocktail (or a pre-excursion cocktail if you're nervous about your chosen activities). They have lockers that you can put your belongings in while you're out and about, so no need to leave everything back at your hotel. They try to upsell you the professional pictures they take during your activities pretty hard, but they will take "no" for an answer (eventually). Not only were the activities fun but the beach was one of the prettiest I've ever been to. The sand was like white "pow-dah" (as my mother would say). This is worth the 30 minute ride. Go and don't forget your sunblock!

Had a great day diving with these guys! I'm a little surprised by the low rating on YELP!! What a terrific group of diver master, instructors and boat captain. I am a certified open water diver and have gone diving all over the world but haven't ben in a while and S is thinking of getting certified so I took a resort dive with him. They were patient and on top of their game, so the three certified divers could go with three new divers (two of whom were so nervous they ended up not doing the second dive). I had some difficulty regulating my ears and no problems because one of the instructors descended slower with me so I could enjoy the dive without ear problems. They pointed out many interesting thins in the coral as well as a peacock flounder and a family of spiny lobster cool!! Best of all, they sent a photographer with you, so you can get some good shots to take home! TIP: be sure to bring biodegradable sunscreen they don't sell it there, but they won't let you use yours if it's not biodegradable as it damages the reef and none of us want to do that!

Coming in for a landing! Parasailing.

We booked an excursion day here through our hotel concierge. There are a lot of options of things to do. And depending on what you are wanting to do you can do at least 2, maybe three different activities in a day (all for a new price, of course). We were picked up in a small van at our hotel, on time, and were on our way. There were 4 of us and three of us wanted to horseback riding, and three of us wanted to go parasailing. The remaining odd man out for the activities was able to sit on the beach or in the shade near the restaurant while the rest were getting their adventure on. With each activity, you get a wristband, which also gets you "snacks" and a non-alcoholic drink afterwards (snacks being chips and dips) and there is a bar where you are welcome to order alcoholic drinks. We started with horseback riding. You are dropped off outside the entrance of the grounds, before the gate. It would be helpful to not have too much stuff with you for this activity, as you need to take it with you (lockers in the cafe/building where the bathrooms are might be nice...especially since you end where you start, before being picked up again to be brought to the central location for the rest of the activities). If your things aren't too big, you can probably carry them along with you on the saddle. Our guide "Cowboy" and Carlito were super friendly and made the ride so much fun! It wasn't so much "Horseback Riding On The Beach" as it was "Horseback riding through the jungle and a parking lot, past construction sites to a patch of beach and back", but the jungle and beach parts were still lovely! And there were photos happening on the beach (for purchase afterwards). It was a lovely time, all around. After a quick snack and a brief gander at our photos, making sure we could get our photos for both activities after the second one, all on one disc and paid together (yes and yes), the three of us headed off for parasailing. You pay a $2 (US) dock fee when you enter. Your group is called and you head out on the pier and get on a speed boat. our little jaunt was beautiful and peaceful and made me wish we could have been out on a boat all day long. Once out far enough, you are given a lifejacket to put on and, by pairs, you get to go up. We had smooth sailing, and up in the air it is so quiet and peaceful. You can see fish and turtles and dolphins if they are around. Take off and landing is super simple and easy. And again, there is a photographer on board documenting for you. I was worried about bringing my phone or camera on to the boat with us, but I remained completely dry, aside from a little spray, and my phone would have been safe and maybe we wouldn't have needed to buy the photos. But better safe than sorry! We bought our photo disc and waited for our return transportation. A cadre of drivers walked in to the restaurant area and hotel names were called. When you heard your hotel name, you followed that driver to their van or bus and they take you back to your home base. I really enjoyed our adventures, and would definitely come back again for other activities (snorkeling, swimming with dolphins, fishing, etc.).

What a great place to go. It's about an hour away from Cancun. We got there early.. Swam in the ocean, at food and did two activities. 1) ATV - do it. It's a must, you go through the wilderness, mud puddles, tunnels of trees and branches, around a gorgeous pond, and eventually on the white sand beach! Amazing. I went with 3 other guys and this was the highlight of our day. 2) speed boats. If you're looking for a rush, this isn't it. It's much calmer than jet ski's. I would prefer jet skiing over the speed boats. If you're going as a couple and your lady doesn't want to go too excited, then the speed boats might be ok. Is it worth it? Eh.. It was cool, but like I said, do the jet skis if you can 3) the food was fairly inexpensive and it wasn't bad. It's a beautiful little place. The beach was wonderful. 4) the guys that help you, especially on the ATV, ask for tips, be sure to give 5 or 10 dollars per excursion cause they do a good job. 4) we booked this through Lamas Travels at the Riu Peninsula.

We had a great time with Maroma Adventures. Everybody was so friendly and professional. We did the deluxe snorkeling tour. Catamaran, snorkeling on the reef and lobster lunch. The meal was the best I have had on my trip thus far. Our waiter was very attentive and funny too. I have done many excursions and this company ranks high on the list. I recommend definitely!

FUN day trip with many activities offered. I chose camel riding along the beach but there's so many other things to do if you so choose. Transportation to and from the hotel made for an easy, care free day. There is a buffet there as well if you need something to snack on. Free chips and salsa and refried beans came with my camel excursion. It's about a 45 minute drive from the Cancun hotel zone so be prepared for quite the ride.

    Lunch and it was excellent!!

Booked a morning fishing trip from Maroma adventures, an absolutely beautiful area and facilities. The crew of Marcos,Noel and Philly did a great job of keeping the lines untangled and in the water as soon as possible and as long as possible! Nice smiling and energetic crew. Got into some Mahi Mahi and had a silver Marlin on the line. Cooked our Mahi with fixings (no charge) and had lunch on the beach!! Awesome vacation experience. The place also has other activities including jet skis and atvs and a beautiful beach.

First time ridding . It was what I expected. I really had a good time. I even had a chance to turn up a little at the end. At the curb and the hills. Because of that. I'm really coming back for more.

The numerous times that I was at Playa del Carmen, I was diving with Tank-Ha. I am truly pleased to see that they are in business still and from the ratings, are obviously doing a great job. When I was diving, I went to several cenote dives with them and a videographer named Steve from California. He was employed with Tank ha, or at least served their clientele on an exclusive basis. He and I got to be very good friends. I don't know if he is still there, or if he is still even in Mexico, he was about my age. Happened to recently find some of the old VHS tapes that I got when I went diving with Steve through Tank ha. After a dive day, he would take a few of us to his house, serve us beer and popcorn, and show us that days diving videos which we obviously purchased. When I ran across these the other day, they brought back some really great memories and I cannot imagine that the dive shop has done anything but improve. They were the greatest then and I'm sure they're even better now.

And that's not even a guarantee, I just think I could. I really enjoyed our first experience scuba diving in Playa Del Carmen. There were 4 of us with the instructor so it was a good size to teach and learn. I didn't feel too nervous. First they take you to a pool about 5-6 feet deep and teach you the basics which was needed for a beginner. It was my fiancé, myself and another older couple from Sweden. After an hour or 2 of practice in the pool, we got a lunch break and came back for the actual dives. We had 2 dives abt 30ish mins each and both were great. The first dive felt like a trial run so it was a little terrifying. The couple and my fiancé felt sick after so they skipped on the second dive and I got to dive with the instructors. So fun! The instructor Caro (I think that's her name) was very knowledgeable and fun. She was very thorough and made me feel comfortable. I loved the second dive because it was just me and the pros. Pretty cool. There wasn't much to see underwater which was kind of a bummer but nonetheless, still a great experience. The worst part for me was walking from the shore to the boat. There were tons of rocks that make it a very painful walk and the current was pretty strong. I recommend investing in some water shoes. Regardless, I had tons of fun and would totally do it again. For a little over $100 dollars, this was a great deal.

Overall (TLDR): Small Scuba shop in Playa with some very nice staff and instructors who worked around my vacation schedule to accommodate me getting my AOW while still finding interesting enough dives that my fiance (who already has her AOW) could dive with us and not be bored. They took us on short notice and dealt seamlessly with Cozumel closing unexpectedly when we were supposed to dive there. Overall great service and learning for me at a reasonable price. They are my go to dive shop in Playa. The Story: I booked a week at an all inclusive resort in Maroma for the week of spring break and was playing with the idea of finally getting my AOW certification so that I could do some of the more challenging dives I hadn't had access to with just an Open Water certificate. I did a little research and most of the shops down there had few reviews and not a lot of information available. I ran across Mexico Blue Dream, and their website was helpful and gave me hope. I emailed a month before the trip and they responded quickly. Up until the time when we were about to leave, I was still debating taking time away from an all inclusive resort to get the Advanced cert. I called them the day before we were supposed to arrive, after about two weeks of hemming and hawing, and they fit us in. They arranged a two day dive schedule with 4 dives in Playa and then 3 dives in Cozumel. When we arrived at our hotel, we had trouble contacting the dive shop because evidently the phones around the shop went completely out, but luckily Camille emailed me with his personal cell number and everything worked out just fine. The shop itself isn't the easiest place to find as the address helps you find the block, but the address itself is not well marked on any of the buildings in the area. Best advice I can give you is to look for the big yellow door! We met Damien, our instructor/dive master who has to be one of the most kind and even keeled people around. He was patient in explaining what we were going to do and what we needed to achieve for the certification process. Our first dive was a wreck dive with tight quarters and some decent marine life to watch. I always felt at ease with Damien as he was attentive, without being overbearing, and adaptive to our skill levels throughout our dives. Our second dive was a drift dive and the third was about navigation and maneuvering underwater. I always felt comfortable and secure with Damien. Such a great instructor and person overall. The second day we were supposed to go to Cozumel, but when returned from our first day, we found out they closed docks due to high seas. We transitioned to diving some Cenotes instead for our second day, and those went off without a hitch just like the previous day. The view from the Cenote called "the Pit" was one of the more remarkable geologic formations I have experienced. The Good: Good prices. Great staff who was thorough and responsive. Cute little facility with everything we needed despite not being a large storefront/retail location. They knew their stuff and made me feel comfortable the whole time. Camille was helpful in the office making all the arrangements, and I couldn't have asked for a more zen and knowledgeable instructor than Damien. The Bad: Nothing. The Mediocre: finding the place the first time was a little nerve-wracking because I'm very type A when it comes to being on time, but it worked out just fine.

I suppose it started when I arrived, and I was the only one not smoking at the dive shop. But what I truly didn't expect was to be the only person not smoking on the small boat of about six of us, including the DM who also smoked on board. As a non-smoker, it was a disgusting experience (and an intimidating experience on board with all of the gases). The DM certainly didn't care if I was bothered by the secondhand smoke. I didn't appreciate breathing in their smoke before a dive, nor did I appreciate the ashes/embers flying around and getting on me and my gear. I brought along all of my equipment with the exception of fins, which I rented. Rate off the bat, at the beginning of my dive, I had issues with the fins. They unhooked from my boots when I was maybe 30-40' down. The dive master insisted on grabbing them and re-hooking them to me. I could feel his distrust in me, making me question myself, even though I've done more difficult dives. I began to get anxiety as he seemed to babysit me. I got to a point where I started to have a panic attack, first time ever underwater. When I was through panicking, I advised the DM that I wanted to end my dive, as I was no longer comfortable. He did not let me. He forced me to continue the dive. What's that rule about not calling a dive if you're not comfortable? As a last note, when booking the dive, I asked if it was a boat dive, and I was told yes (I have a hip issue making shore dives difficult). It was actually a shore to boat dive, where you have to walk along rocks in the water with your gear to the boat.
