On Isla Mujeres, instead of staying in the north of the island (where we docked), John was excited to rent a golf cart and so we toured the less touristic, south part the island. The north also had it's own charm, street vendors, Playa Norte (rated in the top 10 of the world's best beaches) plus it was also home to a phenomenal dulce de leche icecream, so much so I had 2 of them in about half hour

A Chichén Itz-A+ Experience!…read more We had an absolutely outstanding experience with Absolute Adventures, thanks in large part to our incredible guide, Alberto, and our professional driver, Yosmar. Alberto guided us through all the major archaeological sites at Chichén Itzá with a perfect balance of deep knowledge, storytelling, and patience. He answered countless questions--not just from my wife and me, but also from our very curious 10- and 8-year-old children. He made history come alive in a way that was engaging and accessible for all of us, which is no small feat on a long, hot day. What truly set Alberto apart was how attentive he was to our children's needs. He made sure we moved at a comfortable pace, checked in frequently, and ensured the kids stayed engaged and comfortable throughout the tour. He also did a fantastic job preparing us for interactions with vendors and other on-site situations, which made the entire experience stress-free and enjoyable. Our driver, Yosmar, was equally impressive. He was extremely professional, always parking in safe areas--and whenever possible, in the shade (a huge bonus!). He was attentive while we were getting in and out of the vehicle at each stop, especially when traffic was present, which made us feel very well taken care of. After the archaeological sites, Yosmar drove us to a beautiful cenote, where Alberto again went above and beyond--explaining all the amenities, walking down with us, and even helping carry one of our bags. We later stopped at an authentic Mayan/Mexican restaurant, where even our kids found food they loved. Alberto asked if he could join us for lunch, and we were happy to have him--his insight into the dishes and local cuisine made the meal even more enjoyable. We wrapped up the day with a stop in Valladolid, getting a quick but meaningful look at the Spanish influence, Mayan culture, and, of course, chocolate. It was a long day, but being able to go at our own pace--with our needs and preferences fully respected--made it more than worth it. He took me and the little kids in the pool before hand to practice, breathing and putting our heads underwater, so that we would feel comfortable once we went out in the ocean . When we got to the ocean and jumped off the boat, it was more intense, but every step of the way Mauricio was next to me, reassuring me telling me to breathe, holding my hand and making sure that I felt safe . After a few minutes of a little bit of panicking in the water, I felt secure and confident that I could do it, and the rest of the trip I spent looking at the beautiful ocean underneath me. I have dove 3x before (all over 9 years ago) and finally wanted my certificate. We decided on a…read morePADI certificate and found Aquanauts near where we stayed at Barcelo tropical. My instructor Monica was EXCEPTIONAL, out of this world amazing. My parents did a recertification and my dad (30 dives) and I are more comfortable in the water, while my mom (12 dives) is not so much. Monica was able to give us the individualized attention we needed to build on our strengths and weaknesses. My skill level went from using my air the quickest, to at the end of my certification 62 minutes (60ft max) and 74 minutes (45ft max). This was such an improvement on my relaxation, and I am really proud of. Monica was able to help me understand my buoyancy, and really really helped my mom too, no one has ever given us the time and attention like Monica did. My confidence in scuba diving skyrocketed with my certification by Monica, and so did my moms. I had so much fun doing my course, I had to sign up for another day of diving with Monica's daughter Z. And that was FUN, no more training and I got to pet a nurse shark (on my bucket list!!)! I can not recommend Monica or Aquanauts more. I will remember my time with her and my parents forever. The cool thing was we really didn't want to Paddle Board on the beach in Playa mainly because of all the boats and Jet Skis. So they offered us an option to go Paddle Boarding offsite. Which was incredible because we didn't want to rent a car and we didn't want to be stuck on a bus touring around as we would not have control of our time. So, get this they took us to Tulum in the morning, they let us go at our own pace. They told us, this is your day, your time, you choose how to spend it. Come on, who does that... They do. After Tulum we went to this place that was like a screen saver to Paddle Board called Xpu-Ha. We had lunch there also because after doing some SUP and walking Tulum, we were all Hangry, haha. From there we went to Yal Ku, OMG another breathtaking place. It's a Lagoon with crystal clear waters and tons of fish. We snorkels there. So we went to some amazing Ruins, Paddle Boarded on an insane beach and Snorkeled in a beautiful lagoon. Plus they provided transportation, lunch and Cerveza... It was 4 of us, and only $129 each which was all inclusive. My wife is not…read morea confident snorkeller but with help from Luis and Limbert she went out into quite a rough sea to see the turtles and then snorkelled over some deep water in the cenote/caves. We both thoroughly enjoyed the half day trip and would recommend it to anyone. Limbert was a very knowledgeable guide and told us a lot about the history of Mexico on the drive down. Both were quite close to Playa Del Carmen/ Playacar so the longest drive was around thirty minutes. I got some great photos and at the end of the trip we were sent a Google Drive of the photos that Limbert had taken.

We were picked up on time in a nice big clean car. Daniel was very friendly and was giving us history and information about the area during our ride. We parked and got on a tram to the main entrance. We entered the ruins with no issues as Daniel had all our tickets already. We were able to walk all the grounds and Daniel gave us all the amazing history and was able to answer all our questions- even the ones about the wildlife. When we retuned to the car he had a cooler with cold towels and a big variety of cold drinks for us. The excursion included lunch at a place of our choice and we asked for Daniel's suggestion as we wanted something local and not a tourist spot. He took us for some street tacos that were amazing! He was also kind enough to stop at a store so we could grab a few souvenirs and a mango stand for some fresh mango.
