Used to get the wings but have found the buffalo sauce changed and not a fan at all of the new variety. Front end staff is definitely busy but try to get everyone checked in while we wait. First review after many visits. Marotta's is always consistent and the service is very hospitable. The owner was working the counter today when I grabbed takeaway and he was super friendly. We got a tomato bacon ranch 8 cut and a mixed italian sub. The pizza looked and tasted delicious. The sub was a new purchase because we normally do Dibellas. The sub was pretty fair . The bread was fresh meats very tasty but I would have liked more filling! The bread to meat and topping ratio was off. Also the order only took 40 minutes to fulfill quick for a busy Sunday. Ordered take out from Marotta's Towne Pizza (half cheese, half pepperoni) and the rundown is this: Pizza has a good 50/50 ratio (cheese to sauce) and it's just greasy enough that you could wipe it down with a paper towel but it's not completely necessary, slices are on the smaller side but it's doughy and filling. We've been fans of the pizza and antipasto salad for years. Once we had to order takeout only, we decaf to try a premium pizza primavera. It's great and flavorful, even without the red sauce. If you love garlic and vegetables, you'll love it! The crust is crunchy and delicious. The salad was generous, with lots of Italian meat rollups. read more

I hadn't been to Marotta's since they opened about 10 months ago. My first experience there was... not the best (See my other review). The other day, out of the blue, I got a message (right here on Yelp) from Frank, who had just joined the ownership of the pizzeria. He'd seen my review, and expressed how sorry he was that things had not gone well. He offered me a gift certificate, and I accepted. It arrived in the mail today, and tonight my family and I placed an order for pickup -- three pizzas and three sides. I was told it'd be ready in 30 minutes. I arrived right on time. Seemed pretty slow for a Friday night. I walked in, and was greeted by the friendly young woman behind the counter. I told her that I was picking up, told her my name, and told her that I had a coupon ($20 off!!). She brought my stuff right out. I paid, and was on my way. When I got home, we all dug in. The pizza is good. It's not the best I've ever had, but it's far from the worst. Two small pies for the kids: One plain cheese, and one white w/ half olives. My wife and I got a medium white broccoli with sausage and tomatoes. We also got an order of boneless wings (medium) and some fried ravioli. The fried ravioli were a little spicy for my kids (um...not a problem, children. Let me just help you out, there. :) ). We were half-done when my daughter said, "Hey, didn't you order garlic knots?" Oh no. I went out to the car to make sure that I hadn't accidentally left them out there. They weren't there. I called up Marotta's to tell them, and they apologized, and told me that they could either have them delivered or give me a credit for next time. I had them bring them out. The great thing about this place is that they're pretty close to my house, and Frank himself drove the garlic knots over, and arrived before we were finished eating. He apologized again, and I told him not to worry about it. It was cool of him to drive them over himself. He's seems like a really nice guy. I'll almost certainly be ordering from them again, not only because they're super-convenient for me, but because they seem to have gotten a lot of the wrinkles ironed out, and the missing garlic knots are far from a dealbreaker. Seriously, if I had a nickel for every time I've come home from some place with a missing side order, side of fries, bag of chips, or drink, I'd be a rich man. The pizza: I've had much better. Ordered a 12 cut with peppers, mushrooms, and onions and was unhappy to find that the mushrooms were canned. Not only that, but I'm fairly certain the peppers were frozen as well. The onions were fresh but unfortunately undercooked. A big mistake when making pizza is using canned toppings and not cooking the pizza long enough - it was soggy. I didn't much care for the sauce either. Wings: I am giving this 3 stars simply for the fact that the chicken wings were great, nice and crispy with a yummy blue cheese dressing that may have been homemade. I may or may not give this place another try... But if I do I'll keep it simple, pepperoni or something. read more

After having a slice of their cheese pizza, I was completely disgusted. It tasted like Kraft cheese melted on bread, no flavor at all. Hoping their sauce had some type of seasoning/spices, nothing. Coming from an Italian family running this establishment I excepted better quality and not cheap canned sauce. The price is outrageous when it comes to the cheap ingredients use. My advice is to check out the other pizzerias around Rotteredam and the city of Schenectady that have FLAVOR. The pasta Alfredo barely had any sauce on it. I had to choke it down; it was so dry. I also had to add grated Parmesan and Romano to give it any flavor. Stick to their lasagna, which is quite good, as well as their pizza. Their wings are only ok, though. I'd go elsewhere for those. read more

We ordered a buffalo wing pizza, eggplant parm, and wings. The pizza was great - pleasantly surprised. We order from Marotta's all the time and it's the closest thing to true NY style pizza I've had upstate. Always fresh, hot, and delicious. Their Sicilian is awesome, too. I have been a regular customer since the Carman Road location opened and have never been disappointed until today. I don't know if they have changed their supplier or their kitchen staff but the pepperoni pizza was nothing like any previous ones that we have enjoyed. The wings were nice and meaty. We were very happy with our purchase. While I was in there I looked over the pizza in the case and it looked pretty good. Food is edible but so inconsistent. I have eaten here three times now. Let me say that Marotta's in Schenectady by Watt St. is delicious. I was hoping it would be the same since it is the same owners however it is nothing like it. We even spoke to the owner and voiced out concern last time. The boneless wings were delicious the first day. The very next day we ordered again and they were nothing like the day before. First day they were coated and the next day battered, so weird. Needless to say not ordering that again. The pizza at the watt at location is thin and crispy and delicious like a NY slice. However, this is the third time ordering pizza and specifically asking for it to be thin and crispy. The dough is thick and spongy, more like a Greek pizza. Unfortunately, I won't be ordering from this location again :( read more

Tonight we thought we would give this place another try for dinners since Frank promised they were working on quality and service improvements. I told Frank about our following experience. A while ago we ordered the chicken cacciatore dinner and were very disappointed. It was barely a 1/3 cup of DICED chicken, no mushrooms, a slice of a pepper and diced onions. It was mostly pasta with a smattering of sauce. It was advertised to come with Italian bread. I got a hard crusty end of a sub roll about 2 inches. When I called to complain, I wasn't given an apology or an offer to make it right. So we have not ordered dinners from them since. We have had pizzas and subs which are good but over priced. So with Frank's promise of improvement, we decided to order a lasagna dinner and an eggplant parm sub this was another disappointment. The lasagna dinner for $9.25 was pretty small- about 3 1/2"x4"X1". It came with a tiny thinly sliced piece of Italian bread. For about 50 cents more, I can go to Ruggieros down the street and get a serving of 3x the size and comes with soup or salad and several slices of bread sliced thick. The sub was good. When I called to ask if this was the serving size for the price, I was told yes. No apology no offer of making it right. I'll drive the extra mile to Ruggieros for more for my money and better quality food. read more
