I was hoping to see the meats cooked over the open grill. We started with the sweet bread--soft, buttery, and perfectly cooked. (It's made from cow throat, which surprised me, but the texture and flavor were incredible.) The sea bass had a beautifully crispy skin and was topped with a vibrant chimichurri sauce. It was more smoky than buttery, and the cut came out long and slender compared to the thicker portions I've had elsewhere--but still very flavorful. The cowgirl steak was the star: great marbling and cooked a perfect medium. Juicy, tender, and exactly what you want from an Asado night. The rosemary potatoes were surprisingly delicious--crispy, well-seasoned, and packed with flavor. Drinks were just as good: * Kentucky Mule - strong but well balanced * Gaucho Martini - refreshing with lemon and watermelon notes We finished with an apple tart. It tasted good but would have been even better if it came out hot to counter the cold ice cream. I was expecting a hot apple pie right out the oven but was slightly disappointed. The vibe was amazing, especially watching the sunset from our seats. Due to heavy winds, the torch lights were out so it was a little darker than usual--but it didn't take away from the atmosphere. I like that it's not a huge resort. Every staff member I encountered was wonderful. The room is a good size and comes with a small balcony. Almost everything is located on lobby level, except for concierge desk on 3rd floor which I found strange. I went mid January. Encountered rain, cloudy days and strong wind. Maybe February is a better time. It didn't seem crowded. I never needed reservations. I wouldn't hesitate to return to this hotel. read more

I visited the Marriott Grand Cayman last month for a business trip, it was for a small conference that included Conference rooms, ballroom use, exhibit space and social functions. I was impressed by the facility, i visited many years ago, and it certainly looks like it has been remodeled, while attending the conference, the meals had a really nice variety but i certainly noticed many dishes with an Indian influence. It was delightful to try! The hospitality was great! I would recommend it to stay, or for special events! read more

I came to Cayman as a last minute vacation and selected Marriott on 7 Mile Beach just because I'm a Bonvoy member. Coming during hurricane season allowed for a great rate for the room. I used the hotels SUV limo service but really didn't need it as the airport is very low key off season but the experience with the driver was great and made the way to the hotel very relaxing. Upon arrival the door man and desk staff was very nice. The room was very clean and smelled great. The hotel is done in The Summer House theme and has a great vibe. The view from the room still allowed me to see the ocean and was a great spot to sit and chill. The grounds are clean and well maintained. The pool area is nice with a great view but if here in the high season it might be a little small to accommodate everyone. Lots of local activities and water sports. There is an extra daily resort fee I'd rather was just built into the nightly room cost so you know what you are actually paying a night. The food at Anchor and Den was fantastic!! We ate out and about a lot to get the local flavor but never felt like we were missing out eating in the hotel. The doorman was really good at help get to last minute activities for a fair price. I highly recommend this hotel and pretty sure i will be back. read more

I needed to do a workout after a morning of travel to the Grand Cayman but smelled the mold as soon as I opened the door to the Marriott's fitness center. I don't think anyone should do a workout breathing in all the mold spores. This was a nice hotel located next to the awesome restaurant called Peppers, walking distance to Cabana Bay and other tasty spots like Craft and Scoops! Met some nice folks at the hotel both staff and hotel dwellers. Had fairly good service at the hotel restaurants, sometimes very slow. Once we were served dinner before our drinks which was a bit strange. Sunday brunch was probably when we had the best service-- our glasses were never empty and I got a surprise piece of bday cake! This is something you must get reservations for-- dooo itt! So much fun!! There is also a live DJ! If you want seating on the beach, there is a small strip of beach with limited lounge chairs, but there are tons of chairs by the pool. (Check out the Westin for more beach sitting space). There is also a jacuzzi if you want to soak in some heat! The ocean is beautiful and there is great snorkeling off the hotel. There are a lot of protected reef out there! I had a marvelous time at the spa for a massage. Emily was incredible!! This hotel is great for the location!! It's sad that the beach is disappearing due to erosion. I'll definitely come back to Grand Cayman, but may check out a different hotel for some variety! read more

The Marriott Beach Resort has everything you need except a beach. Erosion has washed the beach away so you really do get an ocean front view from the patio bar. All but one of the stairs to the sea are roped off. I did walk south to the last open stairway to get into the sea and snorkel. There really isn't anything worth seeing. The resort staff will do everything in their power to cater to your every need and while some may want that level of attention, I don't. You are paying a pretty penny to stay here but I personally don't see the draw. If you want immediate beach access you should look elsewhere. read more

A beautiful hotel with the friendliest staff Very nice pool area which was a bit crowded throughout the day. Having simple things such as aloe and sunscreen available was really handy. Friendly staff to help move umbrellas and help find vacant chairs as needed. We loved eating food from Vista Bay (the pool bar) while sitting inside of Veranda restaurant. The food was steller including the coconut shrimp, burger, mahi wrap, and lemonade. Such friendly wait staff Beach, if you are looking for a place with a beach this is not the place for you. I loved my stay here. Would definitely stay here again. 1. Beach: I think this hotel has the nicest beach front on seven mile. I walked along the seven mile beach and the other beach areas that pertained to other hotels/timeshares didn't seem as appealing as the section in front of this hotel. 2. Chairs: I did see a review complaining about the chairs. When I went (3/9/22 - 3/15/22) the hotel was supposedly at about 20% capacity. So I never had an issue getting a chair since the hotel wasn't at capacity. But I could see this being a huge issue if the hotel was busier, especially since at times they have to remove the chairs that are on the beach due to the tides. 3. Spa: I got a deep tissue massage and also signed up for the reiki session. A Yelp user had raved about the reiki session, but it was nothing special, skip it. On the other hand, the massage was one of the best ones that I've had, and I get a ton of massages, and everywhere. 4. Room. My room was the oceanfront, balcony. Wouldn't do anything else. Loved being able to sit in the balcony, hearing the waves as soon as I woke up and falling asleep to the sound of the waves. Wasn't too happy with the water pressure in the shower, but no other complaints. 5. Food. You don't ever have to leave the hotel. They had two restaurants opened when I went. Anchor & Den, and Vista Bar. Both were great - separate reviews for those. 6. Staff. The staff was super friendly. Very clean and nicely decorated. Miss being there! read more

We spent my birthday at the Marriott Grand Cayman Beach Club and we couldn't have picked a better spot. The hotel is lovely and the resort fee gets you tons of nice extras such as free snorkel masks, daily activities and treats like cotton candy and snow cones at the pool and s'mores at night - great spot for kids and couples. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. They remember your name the next day which blew me away. Highly recommend the Wednesday Lobster night dinner at the oceanfront restaurant! The sand at the beach was washed away with the hurricane last fall but the resort has made arrangements to have another beach location available for guest if you want the sandy beach experience like we did! This hotel is very misleading. This is the place to come if you want to stay inside and be on your computer. There is only a bar and a pool. When we were trying to go down to the "beach" but were told to go back because the hotel has no beach (sand), our only beach was just the water. So you would have to leave your belongings up by the pool and walk to another beach that is 5-10 min walking and hope that you will find space. I definitely will NOT recommend to anyone to come more than I night. read more

How have i not left a review for this place yet? That's right....I'm selfish and want to keep it to myself. First off....shout outs to the amazing staff: Stephanie and Cate for getting me into a new room after the horrendous noise on the left side of the resort (avoid staying in this wing if you want peace and quiet). Between the public beach access and the noise from the hotel next door i was not getting any sleep. These two all stars got me into a new room asap. Cate also helped me out on my last day and was able to suggest attractions within my time restraints and did not disappoint. Neil - what an incredibly generous and humble human being. He was my server while i was out at the beach and my date was getting a massage. Yes, you get served food on the beach and its amazing. Neil and i chatted at length and then one day my date was at the beach without me and had a similar experience with him. Thankfully we ended up with him as our server for dinner our last night and really got to tip him heavy. He remembered both of us and didn't forget one detail. I hope I land Neil as a server every time as he was such an integral part to my last experience here. Patrick - How many times have you forgot something at a hotel and not been able to retrieve it? My date bought an expensive bag from the hotel and it got left in the cab. Not only did Patrick track down the cab, but he found the bag and found a way to get it back to me (at my expense of course). My date was incredibly sad when she realized at the airport that she lost the bag but you should have seen her face when she opened it up for Christmas and couldn't figure out how in the world I was able to get it back. Thanks again Patrick. You came through in the clutch! If you haven't got the gist of it yet, this hotel really takes care of its customers. I have stayed here twice and after this trip i am just understanding how to fully utilize their services and explore Grand Cayman. The hotel has a shuttle that runs in a giant circle every hour that you can take for free! Pay attention to the informational items they provide you upon check in and in your room. I had no idea about the shuttle until I looked through everything. There is also a water taxi you can take from one of the stops to Rum Point that Cate told us about. Very awesome experience. Though i think the resort fee is high, i am finding that a lot of hotels around the world don't provide you with nearly as many amenities for your buck. You get access to wifi, snorkeling gear (mask, snorkel, fins), paddle boards, lilly pads, tiny catamaran, go pro's, and some other items i cant remember off the top of my head. The food is amazing. Hands down some of the best food I have ever had and everything tastes so fresh. The hotel has events almost every night. Whether its making smores over a bon fire, a flamenco dancer, or all you can eat lobster, you can count on something going on almost every day. Worried about the noise associated with this? Don't be. They have doors in each hallway that they close that drowns out the sound. So if you don't want to partake and just want to read a book in bed, you absolutely can. I love the location of this place. There are a lot of restaurants in walking distance if you ever want to leave. Peppers is right across the street and has the best jerk chicken i have ever had in my life. I watched the sun set at the bar outside almost every night. I think you head down around 5:30 or 6:30 in order to grab a table beach side to watch the sun set. Get the picture yet? You really don't need to leave unless you want to. I cant say enough about this place or the staff. I had such an amazing time and wish i had more time off to go back. BEWARE OF RESTRICTIVE REFUND POLICY. Many months prior I booked a stay at this hotel on a Jet Blue travel package. Arrival date was to be Feb 8. Asked to postpone or cancel the vacation within 24 hrs of a 7 .7 (major) earthquake that hit this area on Jan, 28. Hotel refused to refund or put on account one night's fee (over $450). Had I waited another few days they would have added another night's fee as a second penalty. The hotel stated that nothing was wrong. As of this writing on 3/3/2020 the area is still experiencing aftershocks. Having lived through several major earthquakes there is nothing normal, restful, or ok with the post earthquake aftermath for weeks if not months. Jet Blue was completely flexible on changing air fare and understood that traveling to an area after a natural disaster wasn't an ideal vacation. Marriott Grand Cayman. So, Marriott kept our money and we won't use the chain for a least another year and will make them a last resort when we do. Read the fine print when you book with this hotel. read more

We are currently staying at the Grand Cayman Beach Resort. The beach in the hotel name is gone due to storms and erosion which is totally understandable. However, at no point during booking are you informed of this fact. This also makes the pool area extremely crowded and it's not even the high season. There are also not a lot of good options as the hotel restaurants/bars have basically, the same menu. The waitstaff and bartenders are awesome though, as are the staff at the coffee bar. We checked in last Saturday and had a bunch of issues with our room. The safe was broken and would not lock. The space where a refrigerator is supposed to be was empty. We could not lock the door which was a big concern. The air conditioner would not turn off so the room was freezing. After multiple trips to the front desk over 36 hours, no repairs happened. We actually slept in a room that was about 36 degrees and no door lock. I had asked to change rooms and was told that none are available. On day two I met Claudio at the front desk. He had the repairs taken care of by the end of the day. He is a star at this Marriott! Today, we are on day four of our stay and find that the room phone has not been working. Turns out it's not the phone but the phone line. I mean I understand things happen but what if we have emergency. So far, aside from the staff who are so nice and accommodating, this has been kind of a disappointing stay. I'll update as the trip progresses. read more

The theme of this hotel is just healthy living- organic type as well as the environment of their restaurants and The Spa which I highly recommend. Best massage ever! The only down points of this hotel is that there is hardly any beach and everyone is crowded, the pool is also small. Didn't see many kids either which made it perfect for relaxing. Definitely not a kids hotel to my opinion. Another amazing things at this hotel is their service and their food. They have a great buffet in the morning, and juice bar. Marriott Grand Cayman is a very unique resort. Everything is open concept and designed to flow. There are very few obstructions from the lobby to their restaurants to the pool and beach. Everything is clean and well manicured. The pool and beach are beautiful and clean. Water is crystal clear and warm. The beach is open and extends to other resorts. The beach faces west, giving visitors the most amazing sunsets. Most importantly, staff is wonderful. From the concierge to the wait staff and housekeeping. Smiles are overflowing and eagerness to help is plentiful. The waiter Anthony at their fish restaurant by the beach was so accommodating and did everything to please my wife and kids picky appetite. Food here is quite surprisingly good (and priced accordingly). Themed cuisines change virtually every night. And staff do an amazing job of remembering names and eating habits. Amazing. read more

Came here with some friends for a 5 day, 4 night stay for a dive trip. We booked on points, so they stayed at the Westin and I stayed at the Marriott. I visited them at their hotel, which is lovely, but I would definitely stay here again. The Marriott decor is warm & welcoming. But the main reason is the 5 star service! Any request I had was happily fulfilled. We spent the only partly sunny day of our trip on the beach and I never had a chance to think about getting hungry nor dehydrated! The waitstaff were discreetly patrolling the lounge chairs to accommodate our every need! If they noticed you sleeping or reading, they would leave you in peace. But the minute you popped up in your chair, they were asking if they could get you anything. They passed by with ice water several times and even with fresh pineapple and watermelon. When it started to drizzle, holes were drilled in the sand and beach umbrellas erected in the blink of an eye. I love to travel and I must admit my experience here was the best service I have experienced! I'm the one who usually likes to explore and check out local hot spots or find the Michelin-starred or James Beard award winners in town. That being said, the food at this hotel was impressively done! I had several meals here, not only out of convenience, but bc they were delicious!! There are several options: the Anchor & Den bar/restaurant is very open & adjacent to the lobby. The Veranda is the outdoor upscale dining option. The Vista Bar serves the pool/bar area. Each night of the week is themed, from Lobster Fête on Wed at Veranda (and live music) to Tapas on Thurs at Anchor & Den (with live music and a Flamenco dancer!), to Argentinian Asada Fridays, etc. The lobster night was a great deal! $55 CI dollars for 4 course and a glass of wine! The losalad was delicious: the dressing was flavorful, but incredibly light. The lobster bisque was fantastic. There was an option for all you can eat lobster, which we contemplated, but didn't have to bc it came with two 5oz lobsters! Plus key lime pie! I can't even go into all the food I ate here, it was all first rate. Stay here. You won't regret it! That paired with the fact it is less expensive than the Westin makes this a wonderful place to stay! read more

This hotel is nothing like they advertise. It has no beach, service is terrible, I paid a lot of money to stay here for a week and when I got here the place is somewhere that you can not stay for more than a night. When trying to cancel one of my two rooms, to change my hotel they would not allow. They were very rude and obnoxious, we were told that we would have to full for everything in full but leave the room. They did not try to compensate or anything. This hotel has nothing to do, especially for my kids, only bars. So you would have better luck going to Western. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. read more

However, the highlight of the place is the exceptional staff, everyone from the reception, maids, food staff were amazing. My SO and I booked the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort for a December 19-24th get away using Marriott points and $$$.  (180,000 points and $25 per night for the five nights not including resort fee of $50 per night).    While there were some challenges related to the stay (some were weather related and beyond control of hotel) overall it was positive.    Pre-arrival I received an email several weeks in advance of my stay letting me know that due to high volume of reservations that they would not be able to confirm room upgrades for Elite Marriott rewards members and it was unlikely we would get an ocean view, I pretty much expected this so it was not an issue and it was nice that they sent the notice.  The hotel (I struggle to call it a resort) is on 7 mile beach in Grand Cayman and is about a $20 taxi from the airport.  We arrived late afternoon on a Wednesday and check in took about 10 minutes. So we made our way up to our Courtyard view room on the second floor.  The room was a basic if a little tired king room with a nice balcony overlooking the hotel's inner courtyard.  The room met our needs since we really planned to spend most our time out at beach/pool.  I have included some pictures of some of the wear on the room (no drain plug in tub, hole in wall, cracking, and deterioration of bathroom door).   The property has a nice back deck that includes the property's one pool, a small hot tub, outdoor restaurant, and outdoor bar.  There are steps down to beach from back deck.  The pool was a nice but basic.  There were a lot of beach chairs around the pool and nice views out to the ocean.  The beach area was somewhat cramped between the sea wall and the ocean due to the water being higher than normal due to storms out at sea. We were told that there were usually 5 rows of beach chairs but the most that were ever out during our stay was two and for several days there were none due to high water/waves.  The pool was even closed one day because the waves were crashing up over the sea wall.  When we were able to get in the water it was a nice beach area.  So on the days were there was not beach seating there was a major shortage of space at the pool and if you did not camp out in a space by 7am you had to get lucky to get a space, this made folks understandably testy.  We were fortunate to have family staying down the beach at a condo that had more beach space/less people so we spent three of the days with them at their beach/pool.  The property did offer a bus to town and to another beach, we did not use either but these would have been options if we were not visiting with family down the beach.   The property offers access to snorkel equipment, kayaks, and beach towels as part of the $50 per day "resort fee".  There is also a company on site to rent jet skis, paddle boards, and other water craft from.   The hotel staff was very nice and the service was good.  Food/drinks were expensive but this is just the case in Grand Cayman.  They had breakfast in the restaurants and a take away place in the lobby that did crepes, coffee, pastries and some other offerings.  As a Platinum Elite I received $30 in vouchers towards breakfast.  There was also a reception for Platinum Elite members in the evening and after some discussion they did give me a 2p late check out on our last day (while Platinum usually get till 4p, it is not the case a resort properties).   The biggest disappointment was the fitness center, I have been in nicer/larger fitness rooms in airport properties.  They had maybe 8-10 cardio machines and there was zero space to use the weights and floor mats they had in the room.  Basically if there were more than 8-10 people wanting to work out the space was filled. Overall I think this is a nice (if tired) beach HOTEL (not really a resort) at the far end of seven mile beach.  They have a responsive and what appeared to be hard working staff that was doing everything they could and the property was a reasonable walking distance or short cab ride to good dining options.  The downsides were the limited beach/pool space if the water is up, a small fitness center, and there only being the one pool/hot tub.  I would probably go back but will explore other options when returning to Grand Cayman. read more

An island hotel on the beach needs more beach. There are 2 rows of closely spaced chairs. One row in the ocean. We had a baby with us with no place to put shade. Barely any sand for him to dig. Marriot NEEDS to figure something out. Maybe they shouldn't charge a resort fee since there is no beach to their beach resort. ....... Otherwise. We ate in hotel numerous times. The food was very good. We loved eating outside with views of the sunset. The drinks were well crafted and delicious. The juice upon check in was beyond delicious. I planned my vacation year in advance... I researched Marriott and Ritz Carlton. Since I was booking with points, the difference made it 5 nights at Ritz or 6 nights at Marriott, so I went with Marriott. I did read about no beach and no chair availability issue in some reviews but I also read Marriott responses that they have been working on trying to resolve the issue and I was hoping that this would be resolved by now, since some of those reviews dated over a year prior. Re no beach issue, based on Marriott response, it was a storm that just happened, etc. so I thought the chance of this devastation happening again was slim for my visit. Also, I know Marriott built an artificial reef in front of its property for snorkeling and to prevent future beach devastation too, so I though we were safe. Boy, I was wrong! There is literally zero beach (see expectations vs reality photos). The water come all the way to stairs leading to he beach and splashed on them. The two sad rows of chairs leading to the beach are being drowned in salt water. You cannot put your belongings on towers on those chairs without it being drenched in salt water with each passing wave. Ok, yes, per Management, there was another storm that happened two weeks prior. Well, the issue is, this is the ONLY hotel with this devastation. I talked to some folks during our bioluminescence tour who did not stay at Marriott and they mentioned that they took a long walk along the beach and Marriott was the only hotel where they could not walk on the beach and had to walk around. So, I took a long walk too. The devastation is only at Marriott hotel. All other places have beach to lie and sit on. Next to Marriott, that beach is indeed shorter but once to walk 5 mins away from Marriott, other hotels and residencies have very large and beautiful beaches. My conclusion from all this is that, when storms hit, it is the location of Marriott that makes it most susceptible to beach devastation, despite its reef. Management is saying that the rest of the Seven Mike beach is affected too, not just Marriott. Well, maybe, but it's either not noticeable at all or yes, some beach is washed away to one hotel and one residence next to Marriott, but there is STILL BEACH THERE. While there is NO BEACH AT ALL at Marriott. So, if you want a tropical hotel without any beach, make Marriott your choice. Storms happen. So, what happen to me may happen to you. Now, beach chairs... Wow. There is not only no chairs available but also no place to even walk due to number of chairs that are at and around the pool. There are so many beach chairs that Management actually clears all tables from the Veranda restaurant during the day and puts beach chairs on Verdana property. So, there is a sea of chairs with no space in between with no chairs available for you. Yes, no beach problem exasperates the chair placement problem but it does not create chair availability problem. THERE ARE NO CHAIRS AVAILABLE STILL AFTER ALL THESE YEARS OF MANAGEMENT TRYING TO SOLVE THE ISSUE. So, the result is people lining up to get chairs at 5-7 AM and stand in line until 9 AM when the pool opens. Year after year, this chair problem is not resolved... so sad and so frustrating to spend my family's precious holiday time in a resort with no beach and no chairs available to even enjoy my vacation. You should be ashamed of yourself. If you book your stay with Marriott, expect to have no beach, no chair to sit on, and no sun to warm yourself in until noon. Now, why 2 stars and not 1 star? Hotel is beautiful otherwise and staff is very attentive. But I come to tropical vacation to bake in the sun and on a beach and Marriott has failed my expectations in all the respects. read more

Our stay at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort was unbelievable. The service we received was impeccable. The staff was attentive, courteous, and more than willing to take care of any and all of our needs. They happily answered all of our random questions and always had the best recommendations of places to go and things to do. We never had a meal or a drink that we didn't love. It does stink a smidge that most of their beach was washed away during Ian (not the hotel's fault, BTW), but we were told it will eventually be back and we hope to come back someday to see if it happens! The shuttle service to a great public beach more than compensated for the loss. We loved our stay and hated to leave! read more

This has to be the worst experience at any hotel I have ever been to. We arrive and the computers are down and nothing is ready. This is a group trip and our arrival time was 4 hours before check in. We get our room after 2 hours and have a room on the second floor right next to the lobby looking into other guests' rooms. We called and about changing our room and was told someone would call back and no one ever returned our call. I then had to go back to the lobby and was upgraded to another that had the largest cockroach I have ever seen. I now have to convince my pregnant wife to continue to stay here after seeing that. We go back down to the lobby and they have us wait another 20 minutes and they make us feel like we are being a nuisance like we didn't just show them a huge roach in our room. Their resolution was to put us in the very next room where we found the roach, are you kidding me!! Horrible hotel, I will have to stay here because we have no choice at this point but please do yourself a favor and never come here. read more

Loud music busy atmosphere - had a very nice gin grapefruit cocktail to start at bar. Ending up in the restaurant for dinner at 8 we were promptly seated as the restaurant was not busy. Incredibly disappointing evening at Veranda at the Grand Cayman hotel. This was our 2nd evening dining here this week, and I'm afraid it will be our last, ever. Our service was subpar from the start, including having to remind our server we had ordered a bottle of wine and a few cocktails for our table of 6 after he forgot for almost 20 mins. The restaurant was not busy at all, so no excuse. Once our food finally arrived, 3 of our 6 entrees were completely flavorless. We would have told our server, if he had actually come by to check on us... After pouring the remainder of our wine bottle ourselves (a service we had experienced during our first visit), the nonchalant waiter dismissively asked how everything was. It was clear he wanted to be elsewhere and couldn't care less about our 40th wedding anniversary celebration dinner. A member of our party finally spoke up and asked to see the manager, who attentively listened to our "amateur hour" experience. He comped our gratuity fee and brought a complimentary slice of chocolate cake after we begrudgingly reminded our server our cause for celebration. In my opinion after 12 years in the restaurant biz myself, far from enough to make up for the disappointing night. Tl;dr: Absentee service, flavorless food, mediocre redemption.
