The hotel could have been awesome... It's in a nice location on the riverfront, and while the rooms were decent, they did not reflect the price. We came for Valentine's weekend getaway. We booked a month in advance. A very friendly bellhop helped us to our room, where I discovered two double beds instead of the king bed we were expecting (hello, a married couple... Valentine's weekend) I called the front desk, where she told me in a polite voice but in rude words that she wouldn't be accommodating us. We had a couples massage at the spa, which was awesome, until we realized they charged us $20 more than the receipt we signed. Automatic "gratuity" was already included in the price. Naturally the front desk polite/ rude girl couldn't help us, and the spa was conveniently closed. Our "complimentary " wifi never worked, the toiletries in our room were half used and had clearly not been replaced prior to our arrival, and the luxurious balcony and patio chairs were covered in bird poop. And finally, we didn't receive breakfast vouchers that we were promised at check in. When we went to inquire about them the following morning, there were two front desk staff that spent an uncomfortable amount of time asking us what happened to the original vouchers we were given (never received), and a solid five minutes attempting to locate another voucher to give us. I don't really know what the big deal was, but they were making subtle accusations that we had done something with the vouchers. When that many things are wrong, it becomes a job in itself to right them, and I didn't come to this hotel to work. Get it right, Mariott. Your guest deserve better than this, and your rewards members definitely deserve better. read more

Never ever again! This hotel is rated as a 4 star hotel, and I don't know how. It is disgusting. It was filthy, totally outdated, and there are just simply no words to describe how much I hated this place. Specifically, I killed multiple cockroaches in my hotel room. The public access bathrooms on the main floor were disgusting. It appeared they had not been cleaned in weeks. I've seen cleaner gas station bathrooms. Wi-Fi is not free at this hotel, but it has always been free at EVERY Marriott I have ever stayed at. Not only will I not stay at this hotel again, I will not give any Marriott related hotel my business, that's how horrible this experience was. DO NOT STAY HERE! I have stayed in numerous hotels, I have never experienced the level of customer service I received at this hotel. To a person, every employee I have encountered is polite, helpful, courteous and wears a smile on their face. Here over the Christmas holidays, sucks to have to work. No matter, the employees personify customer service. Every person in the service industry should take a lesson from this hotel. I do not give such high praise often, because I have high expectations. I stayed two nights while at a conference. Conference was great, food was above average, staff was awesome. The hotel is being renovated. Positives: Location, room was large, AC worked well (I've seen several review about bad AC, but fortunately I didn't have an issue), bed was amazing, fantastic staff! Negatives: Walls/ doors are paper thin. I could hear every conversation down the hall at the elevators, but more concerning was the ability to hear every conversation next door. Booked this prop for 4 nights. Great location to shops and restaurants as they are a short walk. We had a room with a view of the river and it was fun to see the cargo barges, ferries and tug boats go by. The bell hops were friendly and helpful with our luggage. This is where the good points of the hotel end. Parking was $35.00 per day and NOT valet you park your own car. What? Rip off. The hotel was a huge convention hotel with a lot of underutilized areas. Made the hotel seem a bit deserted. The hotel restaurant was very expensive and the first morning they didn't have any cream for coffee. Really? We requested housekeeping for our stay but got none the first day! Out ALL day came back to a dirty room. Called downstairs for fresh towels at least. They said they had bath towels but no hand towels so they will give us extra washcloths! The hotel didn't have enough towels? Second day housekeeping was fine because we talked to the housekeeping staff that were in the hall. Third day we were out all day came back to room and it wAs half cleaned. No clean glasses, no coffee left for coffee maker, no clean ice bucket. Called housekeeping a guy brought up a basket of items set the basket on the table and turned and walked out. Said nothing. No apology- nothing. The room was in poor shape scuff marks all over all the walls, loose floor tiles in bathroom, a peep hole above the toilet was stuffed with toilet paper (by previous guest I think.) very disappointed not worth the price we paid. During my recent visit to Savannah I stayed here. The hotel is not impressive. The set up is strange in that the area that allows you to pull up in front of the hotel is one floor below the lobby and the bell hops/valet attendants are lazy. Although we wanted our car to be valet parked and luggage unloaded for us, they did not even offer and told us to turn around and go park in the garage. Perhaps I missed the purpose of a valet area. The front desk staff was friendly enough upon check-in and despite it being a busy time of the day for them I did not have a wait. The first thing I noticed is that the exhibit hall for a conference had been set up in the main area of the hotel, which combined with the high ceiling, made for a very noisy environment. The elevator made a loud clanking noise on the way to my room and I had to wonder if it was going to even make it. I later noticed that all of the elevators made this noise. The room itself was very dated and noisy. While the bed was comfortable, that was about the only truly positive thing I had to say about the room. In the bathroom, I found that two out of four towels were dirty - one with brown crusty stuff all over it and one with black smudges all over (like grease). The bathroom was spacious so I had to wonder why one had more area to use the toilet than to take a shower. The TV was tiny. The room provided reasonable desk space with easily accessible outlets. Wired internet connection was available for $13/day. The working space was okay except for the fact that it was located next to the AC/heat unit and the unit made such loud clanking noises that it was a distraction. The room featured a balcony - that overlooked the aforementioned noisy main area of the hotel lobby. Therefore, we had a front row seat to all of the voices, announcements and music filtering up from 7 floors below. In addition to the noise from below, the walls of the room were very thin and you could hear just about anything and everything from surrounding rooms. I could not even bring myself to try out the spa (which required you to pass through the conference exhibitor set up) or the restaurant. Oh, and that riverfront view? It's fantastic - if you don't mind staring out across a dirty industrial area. For $199 I was disappointed. Add to that the $18/day parking fee plus the $13/day internet fee and it equals: can do without staying here again. Not recommended. read more

The hubby and I chose this Marriott based on the location and the price. The price was right and the room with the river view was the best!! It was just what we needed for our anniversary!! The rooms are very nice and clean, the hotel has adequate parking, and the customer service was wonderful!! Customer service was the best part about this hotel!! Ppl were there to greet you at the entrance, in the parking garage, and while getting on the elevators!! They were awesome and if we ever visit Savannah again and go during a special occasion, we will be staying at this Marriott!! read more

We stayed for the weekend while visiting Savannah. The staff were very friendly, but the hotel needs to be updated. The bed was not comfortable at all, the rooms are old and outdated, and the A/C we had to set as low as it would go, and still wasn't as cool as we wanted it. Where do I begin?! We arrived at the Marriott after a 4 hour drive only to find out that there was a $25/night fee for parking. ok, we will pay it. Finally get to the room to find no toilet paper, towels or toiletries! Have to wait for them to bring it up. Next, we go to the bar for a night cap and dinner. There was only 1 waiter and 1 bartender for all the guests. (negligent on the managers part). The bartender was busy trying to handle a situation with another guest. From what I over heard he was waiting for an hour for room service. After close to 20 minutes of waiting my husband and I decide to eat elsewhere. As we are leaving the bartender yells for us to stay and give him a minute. (embarrassing much??) We kindly declined and left. Fast forward to the next day. We go out and walk Savannah. Beautiful place! We come back and decide to give the bar another try. The same bartender is working. He immediately recognizes us and asks us what we want to drink. (there just might be hope for him!!! but wait...) My husband orders a bud light to go and I order a vodka tonic to go. I had to tell him how to make a vodka tonic (really??) and he decided to pour an old beer from a glass into my husband's to go cup! But at least he topped it off with new beer right?? (totally disgusting!) So we retreat to the room, try to open the door and guess what? The key doesn't work!! Go downstairs not once, not twice, but THREE times to reset it! On the third time there is another couple waiting for the same reason. Finally the guy behind the counter comes up to the room with the master key. At this point I am beyond pissed! WE PAID $200 A NIGHT FOR THE ROOM!!! Not including the $25/night parking fee, $15 internet fee and also a cable fee. That is right! NOTHING is included in the $200/night fee. Oh and the elevators were passed inspection! ugh! I hate to leave a review with negative thoughts. Pros of this place: Very comfortable bed and pillows, beautiful bathroom, great location.....yea that's it. I wouldn't stay here again if somebody else paid for it! read more

The hotel is currently under renovation and is not functioning well during it! Had to walk around to multiple floors in order to find a working ice machine. One of the rooms we booked did not have AC. This was a problem on our entire wing apparently. I talked with another family who experienced the same thing. Everything smells of paint, which was causing headaches. Hope everything improves once the renovation is complete because they certainly should not have certain floors open with this mess. read more

This is not worth the price. There was hair in the tub and on the floor On the bathroom ceiling over the sink there was some kind of nasty like a beer exploded.Could not tell what it was. One of the towels had a spot of blood on it. I suppose the last guest used it and put it up as if it were clean.l The place smelled like mildew and it was a mess with construction going on.$24.00 a day for parking , $8.00 for approximately 10 oz. beer $25.00 for 2 small appetizers and a soft drink. I don't mind the cost but if I stay at a dump at least give me dump prices. Oh and the rooms were full price. The hotel staff was excellent. read more

The second room was tolerable but not cool. When calling for the maintenance guy we were on our way out but wanted to wait so we'd not need to change rooms. They said he be up right away. He came in about 15 minutes. I said we were on our way out but we'd wait. It's a matter of perception. Although 15 minutes is certainly a reasonable time, it's not tight away to someone who is waiting to leave. I'd have been fine if they just said it would be 15 minutes. We'd have gone and hoped it was fixed when we got back. I called and they said they would call right back with the status. Never got the call. We'd go back but I sure hope the AC works better and the elevators are fixed. read more

Room lost power, then power went back on but no ac, ac wasn't fixed and room wasn't cleaned while we were gone for the day, moved us to another room overlooking the roof covered in ac units. Self parking is $21 a day. Couple days after checking out they charged us $229 and only after 3 calls to the hotel did they figure out it was a no show charge which was finally reversed. read more

Very disappointed the house keeping staff failed to clean our room or refresh the towels. The manager blamed the other guest of the hotel stating maybe a child put a do not disturb sign on our door. The next day the beds were made however the dining table and other surfaces were never cleaned. This will be our last visit poor choice. read more

The location of this hotel is outstanding, especially if you enjoy walking in the historical part of the city. There is ample parking for about $20 per day. It is right along the waterfront, on the edge of the waterfront walkways. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the service was very good. Everyone was friendly. This is a unique hotel. They made the inside of the hotel look like an outdoor courtyard with skylights covering the entire ceiling and balconies looking down on the lobby, bar and indoor pool. The indoor pool is cute and even has sun umbrellas to give the effect that you are outside. However, the real outdoor pool wasn't as cool. It was tiny and basically in the parking garage so I stuck with the indoor one. One good thing about outside was the river-view patio right off the lobby. The room was pretty much what you'd expect at a Marriott, nothing stellar. Something I must mention is that we were pretty upset to find out about the $20 a night fee to park. So when we were checking in we asked about street parking and just like that they comped our parking. It was a little weird, but definitely awesome. read more

I am so disappointed with this hotel. It costed nearly $200 a night and did not include anything (breakfast, Internet in the room, parking are extra, priced at 15/20$ each/a day). The room was nothing special, small with small tv, quite depressing. Many people brag about the view but my room had a view of the air conditioning units of the hotel. In addition to the poor view (or lack of) the windows were so dirty I could barely see through. I can't believe they sell that room at that price. The indoor pool looked cute but not worth the price. It's pretty and on the waterfront. That's where the list of pros end. The rooms with a waterfront view also overlook a big courtyard which has a glase dome roof. The dome basically acts as a big funnel that channels all of the noise from the courtyard up into your room. You will hear everything going on below. My particular room adjoined a sweet, so there was a door that could connect to the suite, which allowed me to hear EVERYTHING going on in the suite. I could have carried on a conversation with neighbors without raising my voice. There's no mini-fridge, no thermostat on the AC, and the beds were a bit lumpy. read more

I could not have been more wrong. $400/night got me a pathetic room with a tiny balcony and squeaky doors. Forgot your shaving cream? - they'll sell you a little travel sample for $7.50. Room not cleaned by 2pm? Call down. I did. Three times and finally got it cleaned by 430pm. Zero amenities. And I mean zero. Service staff could give a damn. Sure, the location is good but you're a five minute walk to the hilton. And that's where I'll be on my next visit. UPDATE - just found out they charged me an extra day...plus parking. read more

The Good: the staff is nice and helpful (though not the management) The Bad: For the room rate, this is grossly overpriced and poorly managed. 5 minute waits for elevators. Terrible bathroom lighting. Rooms that smell like they have been smoked in. No signage letting you know that they've temporarily closed the ramp to the riverfront (so you walk nearly an extra block before your relax you have to double back and go another way). TERRIBLE pillows. Very bad mattress. I expect MUCH more from a Marriott. The list goes on and on of little things that accumulate to mire the experience. I am willing to give some leeway to a hotel being renovated, but there is clearly little concern about the Marriott brand at this hotel. Go nextdoor to the Homewood Suites. Their customers looked extremely happy. And they have just as great a view. read more

Let me just say the whole staff is super friendly and always very professional. Unfortunately the hotel is not up to the standards I expect from a Marriott. The room was clean but extremely dated. Looked like a Best Western instead of a Marriott. There was some water stains and mold from a water leak in the past. If a hotel like the Marriott are going to charge you $22 dollars extra for a resort fee, $22 parking, and pay for inter-net you better have a better quality product, Not real bad just not worth the price..... read more

I don't know what everyone else experienced but our stay has been great. We booked with two different points accounts and they were accommodating with letting us stay in the same room. Kathy Jo was the lady at the front desk who made it worth writing a review. She's been so helpful and sweet and told us some good places to eat. The only reason I took away a star is because it isn't right in the middle of everything like it makes it sound but it's not that much extra of a walk. And also the parking is pretty high but she was very sweet about it. I think people need to get over the view thing, obviously everyone wants a nice view so clearly not everyone can get one. We're on the 8th floor and overlooking a roof but I'm not complaining. It's not like they all gathered around and decided they would give you the worst view they could. read more

Avoid this hotel. The hotel is in need of a major overhaul! The room we stayed in was musty and dirty. Furniture was worn out.

The hotel staff allowed a drunker bunch of partiers to continue partying in the lobby area the entire night. When I told them at 7 am that they woke me up at 2am,4am, 6am, etc, I was told there was nothing they could do. Keep in mind, the party had gone on all night from the lobby, so sound traveled upward to my room and others. So maybe asking them to be quiet, to move it outside, to take it to one of their rooms was apparently not an option. It's a lot of money to be unable to rest, and it's aggravating to be told that your rest is not as important as other guests' all-nighter (i.e. some guests are more important than others). I wouldn't stay here again. read more
