    This place is for kids
    Jennifer B.

The resort all in all is great, but not geared toward travelers who prefer not to be surrounded by kids. Personally, I'd prefer not to dodge teenagers and their over aggressive Top Gun volley ball playing when I stay at a resort. No structure in place to make sure all are happy. It seems like it's over run with kids and teens.we won't be back. Perhaps it's the time of year we visited (late May). Our villa is clean and welcoming and has great appointments that made settling in easy. Spacious with comfortable beds, a nice balcony, and plenty of parking, and I'd rate the room alone at 5 stars., If you have teens and toddlers, bring them here. If you want to have an adult experience, go elsewhere. Perk; the surrounding area is full of things to do. The close by outdoor mall offers an array of dining experiences, shopping, live music, and plenty of space to explore.

This was hotel close to then Scottsdales airport and not far from shopping center area. The beautiful feature for timeshare owners is you have access to JW Desert Ridge property which is lovely. The staff was very accommodating with allowing us to check in early. The rooms size were small and did not easily accommodated 4 people. I would definitely recommend you staying here if you are a Marriott Timeshare owner.

This is our second year to escape winter at Canyon Villas in Phoenix. Again we are very pleased. An update is that they replaced the furniture with a very comfortable fold out couch. Excellent improvement.

Nice resort with comfortable well equipped villas. Full kitchen with oven, cooktop, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. Also in room washer and dryer. Nice pool area with water kept at 84 degrees. Well equipped workout area. Guests also have access to the nearby JW Marriott with numerous dining options.

DO NOT GO!!! WILD BOAR!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. The staff is incompetent and are no help. Let me set the stage: 1. I am currently on a work trip and am sharing a room with a colleague. My colleague came a day early and stayed in their own room. When they checked out, they left their two bags and asked if they would bring their bags to my room once I checked in. When I checked in, they confirmed that they had the bags, AND I ASKED 6 TIMES IN THE SPAN OF THE 5 MINUTES OF CHECKING IN IF THEY WOULD DROP OFF THE BAGS. They CONFIRMED 6 TIMES that they would. We left for the day, came back late, and went back to the front desk just to make sure that their bags were dropped off before we went to the room. NOPE!!! THEY WERENT!!! THANK GOD WE CHECKED!!! 2. We had shipped a small package that was essential to the success of our work trip. We shared tracking with them, and it was delivered 1 day before our arrival. WE ASKED 9 TIMES (every single time we passed the front desk over the span of the first 2 days. Again, this package was ESSENTIAL). On the tenth check in with the front desk, they said that they stumbled upon it. This was extremely disappointing. 3. We spilled soda on our sheets and did not want to sleep in the same sheets, so I called the front desk and requested for a sheet change / room service. The woman said not a problem, put me on hold to confirm that this would happen, and then let me know that someone was on their way to clean. We were gone all day and were absolutely exhausted when we came back, but to our surprise the room was not cleaned and there was still the sticky soda on our sheets. We went to the front desk to ask for someone to come and clean, and they said they couldn't, acted like they had no idea about the call, and said that we would have to change the sheets ourselves. When the sheets were dropped off (shocked that they actually pulled through with one of their promises) THEY DROPPED OFF THE SHEETS IN A BAG AS IF IT WAS A DOORDASH DELIVERY AND THE PERSON WAS ALREADY GONE. 4. My other colleague was walking to pick up a pizza, and was almost attacked by a wild boar. They had to fend for themselves and were terrified. 5. They left cleaning supplies in our room. 6. WiFi only had one bar. Overall, we are extremely disappointed and worst of all, we did not even get one apology, just someone basically playing ding dong ditch with sheets. I am a loyal Marriott customer, but I am very upset with how my stay has gone. I hope in the future they actually do what they say and pull through with their promises.

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. My second time coming and last time it was Christmas 2018. Nothing was open and the weather wasnt right. Fast forward, and my daughter attends GCU so Grandma, my son and I booked a 1 bed plus a studio. My daughter came and stayed in the studio so she could continue to study in quiet. Son, my mom and I comfortably shared the one bed room. I enjoyed cooking in the full kitchen and dining together at the large table that seats 6. My mom enjoyed people watching and sitting on the balcony which seated 4. My daughter had her own space and balcony in the studio which seats 2. The studios do not have a stove but have a smaller fridge, coffee pot and microwave. They put us next to each other ((thoughtfully-- thanks to the room planner for that!)) So she could seperate or attach back to us as she was able. It was 100 something so the ice maker in the room was awesome. We tried to catch all the recreation events we could. We made bracelets, candy sushi, made play-doh, and painted snakes. We played in the water fall and brought our floaties and noodles. We had the $10 special-pina coladas by the pool and lunch and breakfast in our room. Do it up nice for your family and cook something that smells amazing for breakfast. I took a quick trip to near by Albertsons and took balls of Pilsbury freezer biscuits and rolled biscuit balls in butter, cinnamon and brown sugar splenda (my mom is diabetic- so when able I cook our food do she can rnjoy sweets too) and found something cinnominy to smell as they woke up the first morning with coffee. They loved it! DO bring coffee cream and cooking spices/oil. Shout out to the presentation team- Ryan D. And Dana, Housekeeping, Front Desk, Grounds and Recreation Team. We enjoyed the nature walk(40 mins thru property on flat ground-bring some water.) We opted to not venture over to the JW Marriott this time. Theres plenty to do if you dont go to JW Marriott. Plus if little guy or Grandma got tired, we just went back to our room

Staff: Generally welcoming and helpful--had issues with the first villa I stayed in (upstairs neighbor was tromping around starting ~2AM for the rest of the night) and was able to move to another villa for the rest of my stay. Basics/amenities generally met expectations: there was definitely wear-and-tear, especially around the baseboards in the bathroom, but overall both villas I stayed in were neat, clean, and well-appointed: - Electrical outlets near both sides of the bed with bedside tables - Good counter space in the bathroom (there were two vanities, one in the room with the toilet and the step-in-shower and one in the room that was open to the bedroom with the soaking tub) - Hair dryer (no shower cap) - 2 bars of soap - Lightly scented shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in dispensers attached to the wall in the shower - Terrific vent fan in bathroom (great for creating white noise when neighbors were noisy) - Tissues - HVAC worked, though the temperature controls were capped - Free, basic wifi - Dining room table (for 6) and full kitchen with utensils, cutlery, dishes, pots/pans - Washer/dryer in unit (with detergent) - Water available in the reception area as well as the fitness center - Complimentary basic coffee/tea machine available - Ice machine available - Basic fitness facility housed in two rooms: the first with cardio equipment (e.g., treadmills, ellipticals, recumbent cycling machines) and the second with strength equipment (e.g., weight bench, free weights, weight training machines). At least one of the treadmills was broken and the strength machine was difficult to workout in later in the morning when there were 5+ people working out, but overall the facility was fine. (No bathroom attached to either fitness room.) - Pickleball, shuffleboard, pool(s) were sprinkled throughout the property. Location: Not that walkable, except to the neighboring Marriott. There was one shopping center relatively close by, but no sidewalks to walk there. Overall, it seemed like a good place for families to vacation.

Do guests staying at the Marriott Canyon Villas still currently have access to the JW Marriott?

    Yes

No. There are plenty of rafts for you to use. The lazy river is at the JW Marriott, NOT the Canyon Villas. You can get a free shuttle ride over to the JW every hour and half hour. They will pick you up at five after and thirty five after for a ride…

Then 3 days ago (we are scheduled to leave for our trip, 14 adults, next week); I email Bruce because his "company" called RENTAL GUEST sends me a new rental contract to sign for the "City Lights" property. I then ask Bruce why I am receiving this new rental contract since I already booked the Delcoa home and told him the 6 bedroom City Lights property would not work for us. Bruce then tells me it is an upgrade and that Home Away is 'forcing owners out of business." He gives me this long bullshit story. It is an effective solution but a little time consuming especially if you have groceries or larger items to bring to your room each time. It also got a bit hard to navigate timing so we often would just walk to our room (heat or night not withstanding). I would say if you are hardy and able it works, but not great for those who have mobility issues. The rooms are bright and airy and clean. The staff has been friendly and helpful. We are used to other spots with a full kitchen and updated cabinets etc within the room, so this was a bit challenging (laundry is again down a walkway and not close to our room and no oven or hot plate in the room for any cooking). But if you are in town for a quick visit and will be eating out or golfing mostly then it is a nice spot. The grounds are well maintained and pleasant and it is a lovely spot for watching the golf course. We would most likely stay at another resort if back in town due to the lack of amenities in the room, but it was a pleasant stay and for a hotel like room with more space it was very pleasant.
