This is the second time I turned to Marshall Roofing. The first about 10 years ago or so was a leak in the original roof caused by age on a vent pipe's seal. They came out and replaced the vent and associated shingles. Great fix! Now, 25 years after moving into this as a new house, I needed a new roof. I got two estimates, one from Marshall. Marshall's representative, Doug, was so thorough and professional in his reprensentation to me and offered a solution re moviing the attic exhaust fan closer to the eave and keeping the ridge vent. The other estimator suggested removing the ridge vent. I wasn't comfortable not having a ridge vent. I again went with Marshall. It was a two day job. They dedicated a more than sufficient crew to the job. The guys were so attentive to protecting against falling shingles as they were stripped from the roof. In short, they did an excellent job! I had absolutely nothing to be concerned about with Marshall's professionalism as a company. And, there cost was lower than my other bid. I only got two bids as my past experience with Marshall and with Doug's representation made it a no-brainer! If you need a roof, go with Marshall. read more

I completely trust Marshall Roofing. They have always been thorough and fair. Today was the second time I had Marshall help with a roofing issue and, true to form, Jose P. called when he was en route, arrived on time and got right to work. When he discovered a problem that was not foreseen by the estimator he had to run out to get a part but came back promptly and finished the job on schedule. Although this specific element was not included in the original estimate, Jose installed it without fuss and did not charge for the part or his extra labor. Where can you find that kind of responsibility these days? I would never call anyone but Marshall! read more

Marshall roofers is installing a roof on my house. It was supposed to be one day for the house/garage roof, and one day for gutters. The first problem was the 6 week delay to start the job. The second problem was that an obviously sub-contracted crew from Maryland called "K&C contracting" showed up to do the job (no English). This was not in the contract. The third problem was on the second day of the roof (recall, a one day job), they ran out of shingles when the garage roof was half done. The last problem is that, despite that I have a 90 foot driveway which is ample for materials and equipment, they set up shop in my front yard/garden killing all the new grass and flowers. So, the job isn't finished, my lawn is destroyed, and Marshall roofing did not, in fact, do the job for which they were hired. This is not a "family" company and who knows if the crew had any roofing experience. We might have been better off hiring one of the annoying people who show up at the door offering to do free estimates. read more

We've used Marshall twice, once to replace a flat roof on our house, and more recently to put a new roof and skylight on our detached garage. Both times they did a great job -- very professional, reasonably priced and prompt. I can't recommend them highly enough. Update -- last night during the storm we had water leaking in through the top of a window. I emailed Matt Marshall, who replied right away. The next morning when I checked in to see when someone could come by to take a look, he called me back and said he was nearby and could be there in 10 minutes. He looked at the window, cleared some debris that he thought might be the problem, and applied some new caulk - all free of charge. He told me to call him if it leaks again and gave me a rough estimate for a more comprehensive fix if one is needed. You can't ask for better customer service than that. read more

This company is not what they claim to be. We had a roof and skylights installed over the summer and spent over $19,000. Now, we have water damage and leaks in two of the new skylights. I have called them repeatedly to come and fix the leaks, but despite a "scheduled" date and time, they are no-shows. Today they were supposed to be here between 12-4 and no one showed up or called. They claim that their work has a warranty, but they do not stand by anything they tell you. You call their number and their schedulers reassure you that you are on their schedule, but they lie and care nothing for customers. Do yourself a favor and find other estimates/companies. We are stuck with a poorly installed roof and a company who refuses to stand by their "product". read more

I picked Marshall Roofing for a roof replacement after getting estimates from several highly-rated roofers. Marshall's pricing was competitive, but here are the real reasons I chose them: 1) Matt Marshall was the only estimator who climbed into my crawl space to see what was causing a bad leak; in fact, he did so twice. In comparison, the other estimators only inspected the roof from the top. 2) Matt gave me 3 estimates--one for repairing only the leak, one for a larger repair of the surrounding unsound plywood, and one for a full replacement. I appreciated having those choices. Matt also advised against doing a full replacement until the weather got warmer, because this would improve the adhesion of the underlayment, and he offered to come by to keep my temporary tarp in place until the weather improved. In short, I felt no pressure to make a quick decision or to go with the most expensive option. And the roof replacement itself went very smoothly and was expertly done. read more

Our neighbors had a leak in their roof which then prompted us to be proactive to get our roof inspected. John came out and was SO incredibly honest and thorough. He called 30 minutes prior, which was nice! I appreciated his honesty especially for a company that is in the business to repair/replace roofs. You don't find very many businesses like that these days and when you come across one, it is really wholesome and makes you feel like you aren't "just another customer". Marshall put a '20 year roof' on my house in 2009. When it started to leak this year, I went into the rafters to look, and saw that there was extensive mold in the plywood, suggesting that it had been leaking for a year or more. Then they said their warranty was only for 10 years. They told me that they couldn't even come out to estimate for 45 days, and repairs were 70 days out. I got an independent roofer who came over in two days and fixed the whole thing. I am very displeased with Marshall's quality, reliability and follow up. read more

Marshall installed the roof on my house and it's been great. But this past weekend I lost a shingle and for them to come evaluate if it's covered under their warranty or not would be 25 days from now due to being short staffed. I know that finding workers has been a challenge in a lot of industries but something to consider for future customers - in summary, initially work was good but post install support has room for improvement. read more

Update: The issue was fixed and it turned out the delay was due to their workload and some office staffing shortages. I'm much happier now. We were working with them over an extended amount of time to redo our window trim and while most of our experiences were relatively good. I'm a bit disappointed on how things have progressed AFTER the job. It took a very long time to get invoiced and I had to call and email several times to get one and once we paid, they held onto the check for nearly a month. We had our window trims done August 24th and a month and a half later I noticed it was separating pretty badly on our front basement windows. I called about a week ago and sent an email with a photo. I was told they would be in touch to have it caulked. However, the separation is HUGE and the reason it split is b/c this piece doesn't seem to fit right. The lack of follow through for a fix is disconcerting at best. I shouldn't have to hound someone to take my money or fix something that falls apart so quickly. read more

We contracted with Marshall to install a new ProVia double-door (replacing a single door with sidelights). We got several estimates and Marshall was competitive, plus they are local. We met with Chris B. He was very patient with us as we asked several follow-ups. Later, Max came to make sure the measurements were correct. When the day finally came for the install, the install team arrived on time and did a great job. The door itself, however, had an issue and Chris coordinated everything with ProVia to get it fixed. We got the one door replaced and everything looks wonderful. My husband and I were really blown away by the courtesy and customer service of Marshall. I needed some work done on the siding of my home. I searched a few different places, and had zero luck. I finally received a good recommendation from my neighbor to try Marshall Roofing. I contacted them immediately, and they came out the same week. The quote they gave me for the repair was insanely lower than other roofing companies, who were attempting to charge me double their quote. I received my repair timeframe, and was a little concerned because it was a month out. I didn't want any continued damage on my home to persist, so I reached out, and asked if the repair timeframe could be moved up. Sarah emailed me back right away and said yes! I was really concerned about rain and snow damaging the siding, and she didn't give me a hard time at all about scheduling the repair earlier. This review is slightly premature, because the repair hasn't happened yet. So I can't speak to the actual work they do. But I will say that customer service is a huge factor in my wanting to continue using a business, and this company is great! They are responsive, understanding, and don't stiff you on prices. I'm confident the repair will go smoothly! It's always difficult finding contractors and roofing companies who do the work well, AND have excellent customer service AND reasonable prices. We bought our house a year ago with the knowledge that the roof was very old, and wanted to get a more thorough inspection following a storm. I called Marshall, and they sent Doug out to do an inspection. He conducted a very thorough inspection--walking the roof, going into the attic, and inspecting it from a distance as well--and then sat down with me to explain in detail what he found and all the options for replacement. He was patient and kind throughout the entire encounter. We got another quote from another highly rated company and the experience was like night and day. So we decided to go forward with a replacement with Marshall, had it scheduled for mid to late March. Then the pandemic hit. Both my husband and I work for nonprofit businesses and were worried about possibly losing our jobs. So we called Marshall and asked if we could put the job on hold--they were completely understanding and accommodating. Three months later, we knew a lot more about the state of the world, our job security, and the pandemic itself, and we called and asked to get us back on the schedule. They were able to schedule us for early to mid-July. Then, we had what I believed to be a roof leak a couple weeks before our scheduled window. I called up Marshall, and they put us to the front of the line. The day of replacement went smoothly--they were done in one day, as predicted, though it did take several hours more than they guessed, they were still done by 6pm. The workers cleaned up after themselves very thoroughly, even going over our neighbors' driveways with the nail magnet (we live in a townhome so they're right up next to us). Doug came back after it was complete to inspect and even took pictures of the roof so that we could send them to our insurance company. Throughout the several months of working with Marshall, I had several questions and the employees in the office were always professional, courteous, and diligent in their follow up. Truly, they were a joy to work with and I wish ALL people were more like Carrie, Sarah, Rodalyn, and Annette! Best of all, the roof looks incredible! What a waste of time, we had a leak from my son's room. I called 4 very reliable companies and received quotes for repair or replacement of the roof. When Marshall's estimator went up to my roof , he did not have any suggestions . No photos , no report, and no idea where the leak is and what cause it . I have three different reports from other roofing companies already so I knew what to expect and what the repair and replacement cost would be. I wanted to do some comparison before making my finally decision and Marshall estimator really did not get me any quote , suggestion or even a photo or what my roof looks like . Odd review here as the guy they sent out to give me an estimate was absolutely awesome. However in dealing with the front office that's where everything went wrong. I received a lot of conflicting information about the minimum work amount to come do work (475$) but that that minimum was discounted for me as the leak was so small. I then noticed an additional leak on my three season room by the fireplace, I was told this would require a separate amount of work and a separate estimate. I asked if this would fall under the previous minimum, and she said yes that is our minimum to work, and the person coming out could not do the second portion of the work. ( its all the same roof.. what? ) just overall really unhelpful, perhaps I ran into a special issue where the lady was having issues that day, but needless to say I merely went with one of the competing companies who did everything, and inspected / worked on the entire roof for a flat fee that was cheaper than the estimate. I wouldn't recommend this place based purely on how they staff the front desk. read more

By far the most professional, top knotch home improvement group I've ever worked with. My experience interacting with those in the home construction business is limited, but from what I can tell, the people at Marshall Roofing is the best I can find to work with. I found this group through the positive reviews on Checkbook.org when we were looking to repair (and it turned out essentially replace) our roof after Snowmageddon I and II (Yelp doesn't have much for home improvement reviews, and you're lucky that I couldn't figure out how to put this review on Checkbook or else you may not see this). From the entire process (review, estimate, pricing, scheduling, etc.), the group has been friendly, courteous, and responsive to our questions and requests. They followed up with our emails/phone calls (which you don't realize until working with home improvement groups that sometimes this is hard to come by), and the quality of work is solid in that it was done well with quality material and labor. I can tell with some the details of their work that they were good. Details of fine work I saw include: *Attention to detail when assessing roof condition to provide estimate. A good roof repair company estimator should be climbing to the top of the roof AND in any attic space you have. Most everyone will go on the roof; Marshall's did both. * When the supply group dropped off the shingles at our house the days before work was supposed to start, not only did they do that with as little disruption as possible, they even fluffed the grass flanking our driveway when their flatbed semi ran over it (even WE don't do that). *The five workers (4 + 1 foreman) arrived promptly and always came to my door of their arrival before starting their work. * On the first day of the job the original estimator came over to the house to see how the work was doing and to check on me to see if I was satisfied with the work in progress. I really appreciated this attention to detail and customer service, esp. since I've worked with other groups where you don't even see the foreman/estimator anytime after you say yes, sign the contract, and give them the deposit. * We knew that there'll be additional material needed for the work, but we wouldn't know until they went up there and go started. When the foreman had a better idea of how much more material he needed, he was good enough to get me at the front door to get my approval. After getting my approval, it seemed like only an hour between that and when the flatbed semi of materials magically showed up at my house (I can only imagine how much effort it took them to get it over - see where my profile city vs. the business city?). * One of the workers accidentally broke our solar-powered garden lights. She went out to Home Depot to buy us a replacement light. She really didn't need to since they were cheap-o lights that we didn't want to replace to begin with, but the gesture was appropriate. One con - our roof area repair required additional carpentry work that while not directly on the roof should be done while the roof was being repair. The resident carpenter they have is kinda meh and a little too lackadaisical in his customer service to be serious in his soffiting repair estimate. Not sure if that's because of him as a person/worker or him because he realized it wasn't that big a job to begin with. Would have been nice to package his work with all the work we were getting done, but it is what it is. For whatever reason you need a roofer, don't look further than those at Marshall's. You will have faith in the good of good people and good work with the quality work, attentive customer service, and overall courtesy and professionalism. read more

Marshall Roofing has been to my house twice to fix issues with my roof vent- first to repair it after some crazy storms over a July 4th weekend, then 4 years later to replace it and I have been consistently impressed with their service, pricing and professionalism. Priced against other companies in the area, they are extremely competitive (one company was over double the price!). I scheduled my roof vent replacement a couple weeks out, after an estimate, and the technician arrived on time, on the scheduled day. He took pictures and emailed them to me, at my request, of before and after. Also, the roofer conversed with me over email after the estimate to answer some follow-up questions about the materials to be used in the replacement, brand names, nails, warranties etc.. Very nice to have that kind of access to the actual roofer who would complete the work. read more

Unless you're able to crawl around on your roof and inspect the quality of the work, roofing is tricky--only know if the repair worked if the next wind or rainstorm doesn't bring issues. Our 2 experiences with Marshall have been positive and we've had no further leaks in the places where they performed work. This time, Chris Thomas was our rep and he was professional, patient, and on time. Can't say enough about being on time! Repairs were delayed due to rain and they rescheduled for the next day without us even requesting that, which must have been tough on their schedule even though they probably work these delays into their scheduling. Great Service. I called during the snowstorm to set an appointment to have my roof shoveled and gutters cleared of ice to prevent ice dams which cause water to leak into the house.
