Buyers beware! Do not use them! In October 2022 I had them replace skylights shingles around the skylight and had Roof Maxx add to my roof. They said I was an excellent candidate for Roof Maxx. Now, 2 1/2 years later I have a leak in my living room. I called Dream Home to come out and they said it would cost me $125.00 for an inspection, meanwhile I should be under a 5 year (may be more) warranty. Chris, the customer service rep said he would speak to the manager since I am a previous customer to waive the fee. I received a call back telling me they would not waive the fee. Unfortunately, this company DOES NOT STAND BY THEIR WARRANTY and will charge fees after service. They should stand by their customers ----SO DISAPPOINTING!! (I should have just had my roof replaced, but they said I was a great candidate for Roof Maxx. Total waist of money. And I advertised for them. Two things right after the service. 1- There was Roof Maxx running off the roof and I asked if it was going to stay because it rained and they said it was OK. 2- with the skylights they made nail marks on the inside screened in porch. I told them that about a week later and no one ever called back. Of course I did not look up and so far I don't have a leak from the skylights.....of course if I did they would charge me $125 to come out and inspect prior to doing the work. Brand new siding installed last year is bubbling because of poor installation. They used subcontractors that don't do quality work and then make up an excuse that it's light reflection from Windows that where always there before. I would not recommend using this company. Be very aware of the language in the contract that they make you sign. If you do sign a contract with them, make sure that the contract they present to you on Docusign is the same they emailed you. With regards to contract, may sure that the contract does not state that they will not be responsible for structural damages to the roof. Do not take their word that this will not happen or they have never had structural damages in the work they do. The roofers they use are their sub-contractors, be aware of the liability issues and make sure that you cover yourself if you use them. Worst experience I have had with a contractor ever. Like nothing horrific-no one died. But they have so many people involved with the sale and installation, there is no ownership or responsibility when something goes wrong. The guy who made the sale was impossible to get ahold of. I think he left the company. We had our first call with them during the World Series. It was that bad. Installation didn't happen until February. They came late, worked later, disrupted the day, and dumped roofing nails everywhere. I called them to come out to remove them. They came and supposedly did. Then I found more. Three times I went through. Took forever to get the job done, took forever to get things fixed with the roofing nails, and they kept trying to collect the payment before I was happy with the clean up. Oh the joys of homeownership, especially when you have several and in several states. I had the pleasure of having a roof installation on one of my homes in VA. I dreaded the process because it was going to involve the insurance company AND I was not in the mood for a fight. That's right....the one time I was not in the mood for a fight. Luckily I didn't have to do too much because DreamHome did a majority of the work. I had hail damage and was missing a few shingles. Okay, I was missing quite a few shingles. I had the pictures to prove it. I contacted my insurance company and DreamHome about the same time so that everyone could work together to complete the process. DreamHome was OUTSTANDING!!! They were super professional, competent, polite and committed to doing a quality job. Matthew B. and Michael B. were the two that I dealt with mostly. Michael B. came out and inspected the roof, explained what the damage was, what needed to be repaired AND why, and then was eager to work through my insurance company to get the paperwork in. I did my part by connecting my insurance company with Matthew B. It was nearly seamless. They were able to exchange pictures (all 81 of them) and emails, with me copied on the emails so that I knew what was happening during the entire process. Once approved, DreamHome sent out their team to replace my roof. They made an appointment for 7am and sure enough they showed up at 7am. Shingles off and then shingles on all according to the agreed upon schedule. The work was quick. They cleaned up after both phases of the job. I was very pleased. For what could have been a very stressful situation, these professionals were OUTSTANDING. Very nice to work with. Very professional. Reasonable pricing. They worked very well with my insurance company providing all the necessary information, especially the written estimate and pictures (all 81 of them). They really go to bat for their customer. I truly appreciate your help and service. I was happy to display the yard sign too. I have since recommended you to several of my neighbors!! Now a synopsis of my experiences (I don't leave reviews a lot, but felt this should be shared to help other avoid irritation). There is a severe lack of communication within this company. The employees will even tell you the same thing. One hand has no idea what the other is doing. The office number they give you to call goes to an answering service, regardless of when you call. The trick is to google them to get the 'real' number. Good luck getting anyone to return phone calls or emails, aside from Louie. He was a big help. But for getting answers for questions, scheduling installs, etc......yeah....good luck with that. Multiple items that were agreed upon during the sales portion of my job were mysteriously missing from the contract. For example, the gable vents were not replaced on either side of the house, but the one on the front of the house was. And there are 3 gable trim pieces on either side of the house, but only 2 were replaced. To their dubious credit, some of the items that were 'missing' were graciously completed. The roofing subcontract workers were great. They worked their butts off, were polite and did an awesome job. Their clean up was nearly impeccable. The siding guys, not so much. They would show up around 9am and be done 'working' by 2:30pm with numerous breaks in between. Their attention to detail was lacking. For example, a pellet stove pipe was reinstalled crooked. Like, really crooked. Like, you can see it from France, crooked. I am still picking up pieces of siding and nails from around my home. But, by far my favorite thing about my experience with them was receiving a past due notice for over $8k from them. On the DAY that they actually finished the siding work. Pretty cool. And be advised that even though they really, really, really want your money, they apparently don't. I had insurance checks that had been waiting on them since 4/21/18 to be picked up, but they were super busy apparently. When they finally picked up the checks on 6/22/18 it took until 7/2/18 to get a completed invoice emailed to me. read more

First of all if you go to their site it's amazing that all of the reviews are all 5 stars. I wrote a 1 star and they never posted it. Let's start with communication, as others have said, good luck. I emailed the owner and got no response at all. Tony was pretty decent at responding but even he mostly want to do everything by phone and because of that things got missed and mistakes were made. Like someone else said the right hand did not know what the left one was doing. A vent cover fell off and I asked them to put it back on, they removed one they did not install and left the other one without a cover. How is that even possible. I had siding installed crooked. gutter brackets that were lopsided, shutters installed with drywall screws, vent covers that fell off, the list goes on. The guy in charge of the crew tried arguing with me about something one of his crew did. I watched the guy do it, showed the guy what he removed and he still wanted to argue. Dream Homes required that they deliver our estimate in person the next day, which we were very disappointed in given the current environment. DH should be doing everything they can to minimize time in customers' homes. The estimate was an hour-long sales pitch concentrated almost entirely on the company in general rather than our specific situation. I did not appreciate DH attempting to "wow" us with fancy technology and flashy slides just to ease the blow of the final number. When they did give us the final number, they were unable to break it down at all because "this is just what the system returns." The sales associate also seemed to be unable to adapt the slogans and lines he had clearly memorized ("future-proof" "$100/year for each missing inch") to our specific situation. read more

This is an awesome company! During the recent wind storms in the northern VA area, they came out and inspected my roof and made sure that I would be good to go after losing some of my shingles. Heavy rains were expected to come and they came out right away and made sure that I wouldn't have to worry about further damage due to the rain. They were honest and prompt and didn't try to get me for my money. They went over options with me and told me how to best protect myself and even offer a warranty! Such friendly customer service and excellent work. I can't tell you how happy I was with their service. Definitely recommend using them for any roofing/siding/exterior household work that you need! I paid nearly $20k for new window installation. Part of the reason I choose Dream home was because they promised a lifetime warranty backed in writing against anything including manufacturer defect or breakage. Six years later I have mold growing between the window panes and my first problem is getting a response from Dream home. I called them 5 times and was promised each time the person who handles this would call me back. The person that answered the phone said it's an ongoing problem and while they will provide labor at no cost, I need to pay for the window. Make sure you see the warranty up front and make sure it says it's from Dream home and not the manufacturer of the product. Dream home will simply push liability off on someone else even though you only meet with them, they will put signs all over your property saying dream home remodeling, the invoice and bill goes to them and the sales person was them. read more

We found out about DreamHome Remodeling through a friend whose neighbor had used them to build a beautiful stone porch. Jon from DreamHome came out to our home and helped us design the perfect stone porch for a tricky space in our backyard that had to incorporate room for a magnolia tree as well as an existing small pond. Jon came up with a beautiful design to include 2 tones of grey stone and lighting built in. His team worked very hard and completed the job much faster that we expected. I have never been so annoyed with a company. My initial contact with them was while they were soliciting in my neighborhood (which is not allowed) in July 2015, but since the canvasser was friendly and professional, I decided to hear them out. I ended setting up an appointment for an estimate. The canvasser told me appointments would last only 30 minutes; that was a LIE. The appointment lasted 2.5 hours. I was very close to calling the police because he would not leave my house after multiple requests. It was 8:50pm when he finally left and wasn't before being rude, all because I didn't decide to sign for a $15,000 project. It has been over a year, and someone from their office continues to call me. I have asked each and every time for them to remove my number from the call sheet. I have stated that I am not interested, and there is no price they can offer that would earn my business. Please please please, save yourself the misery of getting an estimate with them. They are overpriced, very high pressured with their sales pitch, and will not stop with the follow up phone calls. The guy who calls plays dumb and says, "you asked me to remove your number from the call list, I don't think it was me."... It doesn't matter who I asked, I shouldn't still be on a call list over a year later of declining service over and over again. I will make sure I call the police next time I see them in the neighborhood. Yipes. Ten year plus after the Dream Homes siding install on our home, a home inspection (we are moving) discovered the basement vent had been inadvertently partially blocked. Dream Homes responded with a quick and beautiful correction to the issue found by this rather picky inspector. No questions asked, they corrected the issue - no cost, the day after they saw it. Home transfer complete - on on our way to Florida. If I had a home to side in VA, I'd use Dream Homes again. We have used DreamHome to replace windiows and siding. The siding is of great quality and the installation was second to none. The window brand that they installed, Gorell has gone out of business and while they were guaranteed for lifetime, we had to pay to replace a couple so far when the panes lost the seal. I have had to call again after leaving a message with no return call but everyone I have talked to at DreamHome from salesman to customer service is very pleasant and curious. When my daughter bought her house a few years ago, at our recommendation, they also used DreamHome to replace all the windows and doors and they are very pleased and will use them again for other services. read more

I have used Dream Home for three different jobs. I first found them through a groupon for insulation. They did a great job at an amazing price. Then I needed my front door replaced. I have an old 1900s home that has few right angles left. The workman who installed my door was absolutely amazing. He did far more than I would have expected for the job and even came back a second day to make sure it was well installed and everything functioning smoothly. The door was installed three years ago and I am thoroughly impressed with the workmanship spent on it. The third and most extensive job that I had with Dream Home Remodeling was replacing original 1907 single-paned wood windows. The windows had major gaps from age and were noticeably drafty in the winter. Immediately after installation, my house was quieter and better insulated. I can already tell the temperature difference and look forward to the energy savings. Working with Dream Home on a project is a straight-forward, easy process. They always provide a thorough, fair estimate, and communicate regularly to schedule measuring and installation. On the day of installation, the workers arrived on time, maintained a clean work area, and completed the job with high quality workmanship. The workers were courteous and conscientious in my home and completed an extensive job replacing 12 windows within one day. Met these guys at the Dulles Home Show. Told them about my insulation project to insulate my garage and the ceiling over the garage. The garage is approx 1200 Sqf. On the day of my appointment, they called to confirm and once discovering that the job was my garage, they said the job wasn't large enough. They seemed agitated when I told them that my wife might not be there. I suspect that they wanted to get a signed contract right then and there and used that as a reason. Regardless, the point is that I informed them of the job (large garage) and they led me to believe that it was fine. I suspect with a dip in the economy, that job may not be too small. read more

Found this company at a home show and decided to get a price on a roof. I had already scheduled with three other companies but I was very impressed with the fact that the owner was present and able to answer many of my questions When the appointment came the Dream Home salesman was very pleasant and provided us references. Unlike my other long very high pressure appointments it was clear that this company was concerned with our satisfaction and not just out to make a sale. We used Dream Home to replace our roof (cedar shake) and gutters. The roof was done well, the gutters were a hot mess. After the new roof was replaced, they cleaned well and picked up nails. When the gutter guys came in, all the roofing nails dropped into the gutters were dumped all over our yard, they did not clean up after themselves even after explaining we had dogs and the yard must be cleaned. Nails were even dropped into the dogs water bowl. They redirected our gutters and left gaping holes in our trim. After complaining, they came back several weeks later to replace the corner trim but NEVER came back to pick up all the nails, which we are still finding in our bushes. If you are looking for a great job from start to finish, I suggest you look elsewhere. read more

After noticing that about a dozen homes within eyesight of my back deck were getting new roofs I decided to inquire as to why. Learned that the shingles used during construction of our homes were essentially "bad" shingles and that recent hail storms had caused catastrophic damage. Concerned, I quickly called a friend of mine that is in the roofing business and asked that he take a look. The good news, he found absolutely no damage. The bad news, he found absolutely no damage. He explained to me that the shingles used on my home were involved in a class action law suit several years ago. The case is now over but many homes with these shingles are having to replace entire roofs much earlier than the expected life of the shingle. Fearful that I would have a roof failure in the next 3-5 years that I would have to pay 100% out of pocket for replacement, I decided that I needed to find an unethical roofing business to persuade the insurance adjuster that my roof did indeed have damage and needed to be replaced. So, I asked my neighbor who they had gotten a quote from and this is how I was introduced to DreamHome. Long story short, my original appointment to inspect the roof was delayed for a couple of weeks because of weather. After they finally inspected the roof, I sat through a 45-60 minute presentation about how great this company was, reviewed pictures of MY roof that had "over 20 hits" in a 10x10 section and that the damage was significant. Adjuster came and surprise, absolutely no damage to my roof was found. When I asked DreamHome as to how this could possibly be true, I got a ton of double talk that completely contradicted everything they had previously said about my roof earlier. At first I was angry. I had taken time away from work and truly expected to get a new roof. However, in hindsight, I was looking for an unethical company to persuade (lie) about the condition of my roof and to convince my insurance adjuster that it needed replacement. I got what I was looking in DreamHome but unfortunately they weren't unethical enough. My fault for trying to work the system. read more

What if I was single and had no husband, would they not do business with me? I then went online to read reviews and found that they had said the same thing to other women. Had my roof repaired due to hail damage that occurred about a year ago. D.H remodeling did a good job. I was going to wait and see if any issues occurred layer on but after a few violent storms seems like this roof will withstand the elements for a long time. 50 year rated 3m top quality shingles were used and the color was very attractive. The contractors they used for my house were top notch, although obviiously cannot vouch for other ones. Decent product but lacking in the service department. Dealing with some home damage from a hail storm and needed to replace roof and siding. Mike (one of the owners) was one of the salesmen out and about the neighborhood looking for business. I wanted to upgrade our roof/siding and he sold DreamHome as an upper tier company with quality SERVICE and it was everything but. Meetings were missed, phone calls not answered. When the job finally got started things were missed, very poor communication with me and within the company, etc... I am not a very business oriented individual, and one of the main selling points was that I would barely have to lift a finger. I was assured that they had ex-claims adjustors and lawyers on staff that would take care of everything. This couldn't be further from the truth. They would also take an aerial picture of our house to mock up some pictures of the work (which I never asked for nor was I told that I would have to pay for, just part of the top level service they provided), then he had the audacity to demand a down payment that would in part pay for those services before any documents had even been worked up (never saw those pictures either). Once supplements were put in to try to cover the full siding of the house the process stalled on the insurance company's side. I fully expected DreamHome (specifically Mike) to be proactive and push the process through. About a month later I finally ended up calling the insurance company myself, multiple times, every other day for about a week and a half before I finally got a manager who resolved everything for me (insurance company's fault, not DreamHome's, mind you), which is what I thought their crack team would be handling. By this point, I didn't even want to speak with Mike anymore and he referred me to Anthony, a project manager. Anthony's job is apparently cleaning up Mike's mess, and the ONLY thing I was offered for the delays and for my troubles was to cap the remaining windows at no charge (which as it was explained to me the aluminum used to do so costs next to nothing anyway, so thanks). I'm not a hagling person, nor do I expect to get something for nothing, but the lack of effort on behalf of the DreamHome team to try to rectify my displeasure with the quality of the service was non-existent. Even Anthony, the good cop, once he heard that the job was finalized and the check was ready to be sent couldn't get off the phone with me fast enough. Once the work was in progress, plenty of issues arose, mostly stemming from Mike and a lack of intra-company communication. Lots of little things came up that were causing delays, like failure to coordinate with crews, ordering the wrong number of shutters, shutters put up crooked, not cleaning up the debris (TONS of nails and shards of sidings waiting to be washed off our roof into our yard; we have three young kids and a dog). All kinds of stuff. I actually had to ask them to clean up all of the hazardous debris. Didn't realize they wouldn't think about doing that as a courtesy. While much of the delay was on behalf of the insurance company, DreamHome did not do much to expedite the work. Damage that was incurred in June did not get completed until mid November. Crazy. I know for a fact that some of these delays were simple failures on Mike's part to submit the info to the company in a timely manner once I had sent him the information, specifically as it pertained to the colors and styles of the siding. Unless you are someone with a good amount of experience with insurance claims, accounting, business sense, home repair know-how and don't mind spending an exorbitant amount of your own time micromanaging everything that is being done I would steer WAY clear from Dream home. I do not believe they were disingenuous in anyway, it was more just incompetence. Claimed to be better than the rest of the "vultures", as Mike put it, that were trolling the neighborhood taking advantage of people after a unfortunate hail storm, it turns out that DreamHome is no better than the rest of the vultures. Swooped in, spent as little time as possible to get the job done and making us feel comfortable, got their insurance check and left without saying a thing. On a positive note the customer service agent, Dominique, was polite in dealing with me, after calling them to find out about my final invoice which I never received (again me doing the work though). We are planning a big addition to our house, but you can bet your backside I'll be choosing literally anyone else to do the work. read more

Please keep in mind, I've been in customer service for over 20 years. A representative knocked on our door soliciting DreamHome Remodeling services. After claiming that they pride themselves in the best customer service, I asked if he had read the no soliciting sign on my door. His response was "I didn't feel like it." In my opinion, that action alone was not customer friendly and is disrespectful. When I called to complain, the person who claimed to be the representative's supervisor gave me a lame apology and didn't seem to care at all that his employee completely ignored my sign or that he lost the chance of getting our business. read more

Had nails on our driveway and front stoop and they cooked and killed a bunch of our landscaping by laying tarps over it in hot weather. Still finding nails and pieces of cut aluminum several months later. It's now December and they're still saying they'll right their wrongs by replacing certain plants and doing clean up (several months after the fact). Totally exasperated. read more

So I don't often leave reviews but I am sharing my experience with DreamHome in the hopes that it will help others. I, like many others apparently, was approached at my home- even though our neighborhood has a no solicitation policy with signs stating this throughout the neighborhood and in the entrance to the neighborhood. However, I did take the information and decided to do some research. I know contractors and home improvement companies need to be researched well before starting any projects. I actually told the young man that we did not own the home but rent it and I would pass the information on to the owner (seems to work well). I have a couple of windows I need to have replaced and although I thought it was a long shot that I would do business with a company going door to door, I figured I would check this company out by doing some research online. Well, it didn't take long to see the negative reviews but I found something much more disturbing. The so called "leadership" of this company, specifically the CEO- Michael Eaton. If you are so inclined, google Michael Eaton DUI. Needless to say, a company that has a person like this as a company leader is not the type of company I want to do business with. Being a lifelong resident of the area, I remember this story and some of the news coverage searching for Mr. Eaton when he fled the scene. I will choose to spend my money with a more reputable company with respectable leadership. read more

I dont remember precise dates, but I began inquiring about windows back in Aug-Oct 2018, I was told I would have them I stalled b4 the new year...FALSE, I DIDNT GET THEM INSTALLED UNTIL FEB 2019, and they came days later then scheduled and that day they forgot the time I was scheduled for. The windows are nice, I admit, however the job is still on going. I have not recieved a bill yet, so I assume I got free windows installed. I originally signed the docu sign on line, and they said They never got it, so they sent someone else out for me to sign again on his tablet, I signed it and 10 minutes later he came back and asked me to sign something else, they set the never got that approx. 2 weeks ago I sign it for the 3rd time and I still have not received anything. so thank you dream home remodeling for my free windows.. I also left out the parts when they originally came out to measure the windows which they had to do that 3 times. So if at all possible find your old neighbor or anyone, hell a two-year-old to install and bill you for your windows..Avoid this company read more

Recently got a call, they told me we have scheduled a appointment with them, but they want to re-schedule. When I told them I didn't have appointment with them, also I ask them what's my appointment date, then they say they just think we are interesting with their business. What a big liar. In 2009, we hired DreamHome Remodeling to replace our aging windows. They promised lifetime warranty, energy savings, etc. Installation was Ok, just few minor usual hiccups. Overall we were happy. Few years later, windows started failing, one by one. Moisture, condensation, and eventually mold between the panes. Of course it means the windows lost the pressure (gas) and no longer energy efficient. We called DreamHome to only learn that the manufacturer is out of business and we are out of warranty. Well... What do we do then? That was our question. I spent many hours over the course of few months trying to solve our issue. But failed. Our hope was that they can replace all the failed and to be failed windows with the new ones for a no-profit price, we did not ask to do it for free. But they provided us (after many many phone calls and emails) with the ridiculous prices. For example, to replace two parts of the sliding door (no frame) would cost us ~$1200. Not bad for the lifetime warranty, huh? Another issue is that I could not even get attention of the owners to my problem, which is a very bad sign... It means they do not care, insulated themselves from the "noise" aka customers' problems/complaints and left others to deal with it. So, be aware about our story and make an educated choice. There are better options on the market. P.S.#1 By the way, the original prices for the vinyl windows averaged $700-800 per window... Not bad for the no name manufacturer, right? We thought DreamHome could to better standing behind their work. P.S.#2. Looks like Dreamhome could actually continue working with the Soft-Lite, the company which acquired Gorell, but decided not to, which effectively voided all their customer's warranties. Another evidence that DreamHome cares more about profit than their customers.
