I received several quotes for three doors I needed to be replaced. The best quote with a high quality product was from Zen. We finalized the deal, worked out the payment, and I even received a military discount on top of the better quote I had initially received. Other vendors had slicker computer tools and tried the last ditch discount to try to close the deal on the spot, but I believe in competition and saved A LOT by doing so. It took about 6 weeks for the door I ordered to come in. They did the work in a day, and the ProView doors they installed are fantastic. I couldn't be happier. Communication: Scheduling the initial estimate was easy, but the back-and-forth communication required to finalize the many detailed options was a bit slow; however, the owner Scott Halle interceded and timely communication continued throughout the rest of the process. Scoping Work: This is where Zen Windows really excels, primarily because of the vast knowledge of James Bond. We wanted to replace the single door with side transoms with something that would maximize the opening space. James expertly walked us through the options with cost and wall modification comparisons. In addition, the header above the current door was swelling and pinning the door, and James evaluated the issue, likely water seeping down from an unflashed deck, and provided peace of mind his guys could fix it on site during installation. Quality of Work: Frankly, 75-80% of contractors fail here for three primary reasons: a horrible handoff from the product specialist to the onsite project foreman, project foreman and workers making assumptions about details vice asking the customer, and lack of quality detailed work. The foreman excelled in these areas ensuring we were on the same page for various details such as casing, caulking, and external trim. In addition, he completely replaced the rotted wood structure above and along the sides of the door and added customer-provided insulation where there were gaps. To keep the project on track, they brought in another expert worker and management arrived to ensure the quality of work was high. The end product was beautiful. Our house was built in 1968 and originally had single-pane windows. A while back, we replaced all the standard double-hung windows but had two specialty windows that were too difficult for the first contractor. Years went by and it was time to replace our bow window (where the garage door had once been) and a garden window in the kitchen (the kind that sticks out so you can put plants in it). We wanted multiple quotes. Zen responded fast (over the weekend) and used our measurements and photos to get an initial quote (when we later selected Zen, they sent a representative out to take measurements for the order.) A second company sent a measurer out to give the quote significantly later. Three other companies either didn't respond or turned down the work. Here's the best part: Zen provided a quote quickly and professionally. The other contractor took much longer to provide a quote and it came in at nearly twice the price! It did take a few weeks over the holidays for the windows to come in, but they were specialty windows and that was to be expected. They didn't ask for payment upfront but did ask us to sign a contract. As the installation date approached, they reached out to us to confirm our availability, ask that our items be removed from the workspace, and other small technical details to make the installation seamless. They arrived on time, got right to work, and left the area clean. Zen's project manager came and gave us a walkthrough of the new windows. Later that day, they sent the warranty information. Taking the time to customize the fit for a new door as it seems our Townhouse was not quite a standard build. The Townhouse was built in the early 90's so some settling occured. Plust the width of the door was not standard. It as about a inch smaller. They customized, bumpet out 1/2 inch so door would not touch storm door. They checked and doubled checked for levels. It was a 3 man team and they did not stop for about 4pm. Cutting, measuring, adjusting. Answered all out questions. They also worked clean. They covered our furniture, vacummed incremently with a vacuum that did not actually blow out the dust in the whole house. They even mopped the floor when they were done. I CANT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS COMPANY ZEN WINDOWS. These days I have just about giving up on my expectations with Quality and professionalism these days, but this company is fantastic. Another update 7-29-24 A guest of ours broke the screen on our back screen door and the screen door eventually fell off completely. We called up Zen Windows and they came out and replaced everything. The main reason for the update.........I also had an issue with the front storm door and mentioned it to the crew. Out home was built many years ago and as the house continues to settle, things don't fit perfectly. When I mentioned the issue, I understood that they may not be able to do anything about it and that I may need to schedule another time for the front storm door. The foreman was very helpful and made a call and him and his crew ended up fixing the front storm door. It's folks like them that make Zen Windows really great and always recommended. Zen Windows went above and beyond what window installers can do. I had almost all of my first and second floor windows replaced. One window we knew had wood rot around the frame, before installation, but the damage was worse than we thought. Because of that, another team team came our to my home a week later to replace all the bad wood to properly install that window. They had to take off siding and drywall to properly replace the support studs and the window frame. The only evidence that they had done anything was drywall inside that house that needed primed and painted. We met with three companies and ultimately chose Zen Windows to replace a front door and storm door at the height of COVID supply chain disruptions. Zen Windows' quote was marginally higher than others, but comparable. Scott was low pressure and up front about custom materials taking a bit longer than typical. Long story short, there were challenges with installation for a few reasons - to include the custom storm door delivered was off by nearly an inch. I had my windows replaced in late July. I selected Zen based on online reviews but also on the strong recommendation of a friend. The windows and sliding door were installed nicely and appear to be high quality. However, a few caveats for your consideration: 1. When the windows and sliding door were installed, two of the surrounding frames were messed up. One large set of window frames were scratched up (large noticeable scuffs where the paint came off) and the other frame was filled with fine nail holes. It looks really ugly and the installing team did not repair that. I informed Scott, who said this would be taken care of, but this was forgotten or overlooked. I could have pressed but I wasn't in the mood to nag for these fixes. 2. When the windows were removed, this introduced two different types of flies into my house. It took about 4 weeks for me to get rid of the regular houseflies and about 7 weeks to kill off the small moth-type fly infestation. 3. When the team came, they walked through the house for 8 hours in their regular work shoes with no booty covers. In the future, I would ask for this. I'm actually glad I decided to replace only the top two floors of windows. I'm going to find another company to install the windows for the lower floors with these lessons learned. If you're going to spend over $10,000 on any service, you should expect the best and you shouldn't need to beg for it. read more

Again the process to get a quote was quick transparent and Scott never urged or pushed me. After confirming what I needed, it was all set. On the day of installation (waiting time was much shorter than windows), a son and father team arrived on time. They started removing doors and frames quickly. Their workmanship was exceptional and meticulously detail-oriented. They cut door frame moulding precisely so it looked seamless. They also removed damaged panels and replaced it perfectly. They also installed a new door bell button and house numbers (I got them while they were working on doors). Every time I go out and come back home, I feel like living in a new house. I contacted Zen Windows to receive advice on replacing some old windows and one window, in particular, showed signs of wood rot. It was easy to make an appointment with Claire by phone and David showed up the next day right on time. He was able to identify the issue with the wood rot immediately upon inspecting from the outside. I didn't need new windows but need a GC to fix the problems. I did a LOT of shopping around (8 quotes) before settling on Zen Windows and I have 0 regrets with my choice. Steer clear of Window Nation and the other big national chains, I felt like taking a shower after those meetings. Scott was low pressure, he just gave me a detailed quote after discussing my options and said he hoped to hear from me. No high pressure sales like many of the other guys. I went with Zen for 2 reasons: Price was good, not the cheapest but close. Second and most importantly, they offer a lifetime transferable warrant on EVERYTHING, including accidental breakage! They were the only company that covered accidents. They cover parts and labor/installation for a lifetime and the warranty conveys with the home when you sell. I can't think of a better sign that the company is confident they do good work than a lifetime warranty on every aspect of the job and materials. Ok, installation: Once the contract was signed, the windows took forever to be fabricated (over 4 months). However, that is due to pandemic related supply chain issues and not Zen Windows fault. I have 22 windows and they completed the install in 1 day! They were fast, clean and meticulous. A few windows has rotten wood inside and they replaced it and added extra insulation at no charge. My house is much warmer than it used to be. I decided to wait a few weeks before writing my review because I want to 'kick the tires' a bit. It was built in 1929 and many windows were original so the difference is drastic. I've been through two snow storms and several moderate rain falls.
