This has always been the one surgery I dreaded because of her love for food. She also can only drink with a straw. I was worried about dry socket and sedation in an office. The surgery was great and rather easy. He said she could eat anything and drink from her straw. He packed the holes with collagen so we didin't have to worry about dry socket. The first 24 hrs were amazing, then one hole got infected. She "chipmunk"s her food. We didn't rinse well. Dr. Loeser gave us a few options. First change the antibiotics and he would help us keep her out of the hospital. So everyday I syringed a bacteria cleanser in the hole and went to his office everyday in between his patients for 2 weeks. I didn't have to but it helped me to know it was getting better not worse. He was patient with me, kind to her and we stayed out the hospital. His staff went above and beyond for us. They made accommodations that most places wouldn't do. Besides all the extra care, the offices are clean and his prices are reasonable.

I did see him two years prior for my wisdom teeth extractions, so I was so anxious about this particular appointment at first, but he put me at ease during my visit. He told me that he thought I didn't necessarily have it, since it doesn't really occur in people my age, thinking it's probably just a bit of reflux, and he said there's this little patch on there to where the tonsils were removed (this was 15 years ago). I visited for an extraction and Dr. Figueroa and his team were so attentive and patient. They took the time to explain exactly what would happen, the risks, and answer all of my questions. I felt well cared for and comfortable. I expressed my dental anxiety to Dr. Figueroa and he was compassionate and offered assistance by way of laughing gas for my extraction. The extraction couldn't have gone better. Dr. Figueroa talked his was through the procedure, which was helpful. They have a cozy little recovery room for post-op and then you're on your way. I was told they couldn't bill my insurance because they were out of network and that the visit wouldn't be covered. Based on what happened afterward, that information appears to have been incorrect. They did bill my insurance, and when I later received my Explanation of Benefits (EOB), my actual patient responsibility was significantly lower than what I had been charged on the day of the appointment. I found this experience extremely frustrating and concerning. Being given inaccurate information about insurance coverage and being charged more upfront than what I ultimately owed left me feeling misled. I plan to pursue this matter further with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's office because I believe these billing practices should be reviewed. Based on my personal experience, I would strongly encourage others to do their research and proceed with caution before seeking care here. I expected much better communication, transparency, and professionalism.

Since I was informed I needed a tooth pulled, I had an impending sense of doom. I'm proud of how quickly I scheduled the consultation (due to the end of the Flex Spending deadline). In advance of my appointment, my dentist sent the xrays to Dr Jacob's office and I both dreaded that they would pull my tooth that day, or that I would have to return to have it done. My primary care physician also recommended Dr. Jacobs. When I arrived at the office, it was the most glamorous dental office I'd ever seen. There was a separate room to fill out paperwork. There was a separate waiting room with a large TV. They didn't shove anything into my mouth to take xrays -- the camera flew around me like a 360 degree photo booth. They told me that they would pull the tooth that day -- was I more terrified or more relieved? Dr Jacobs was very caring and supportive when I told him I was quite nervous. He was very patient and explained each step that would happen. The worst, of course, was the injection of novocaine. However, as he said, it took no longer than 10 minutes to extract the tooth. The staff was very detailed with the after care. They called me when I returned home and Dr Jacobs called me later that evening to check on me. While I hope I never see Dr Jacobs ever again, chances are that my teeth will let me down sometime in the future. At least I know what to expect, and Dr Jacobs and his practice are the very best.

Our ortho thought Dr. Mark Jacobs would be a good fit for what she needed done and her "high maintenance" personality. I liked that he was an anesthesiologist before an oral surgeon since I assumed we would have to knock her out for the procedure. We were able to get in for a consultant within a week and the procedure a week later. The building itself is pretty old and I feared the elevator was going to break down on us, but the office itself is beautiful and not what you'd expect in this older building. During the consultation Dr. Jacob and his lovely staff put us both at least. They were very clear on what the procedure would entail and how to make it as pain free as possible. He gave us a few options for pain management and she chose a drink that would put her to sleep. They even asked what flavor she likes and she asked if they had any shirley temples. No such luck, but lots of fruit juices to choose from. The day of the procedure I expected to have to drag her into the office, but she went willingly since the consultation was so smooth. The hardest part was that she really didn't like the taste of the drink, but they were very patient as she took forever to gag it down. From there it the procedure itself was easy. She was drowsy and cranky the rest of the day, but it went way better than I expected. Today she had a quick follow-up (one week later) and was told she can resume eating whatever she wanted. Hooray! Everyone in the office was lovely once again and I will go back to them for any future oral surgeon needs (ex: wisdom teeth) for my family, but hopefully we don't have too many.
