Probably one of the lamest Marshall's I've been in, but what me worry. I hope they get better for the citizens of Buffalo

Definitely a larger Salvation Army than your average stores. This place looks really creepy inside…read more Lights flicker, the smell of thrift fills the air, and there's a sight of unorganized clothes in the distance. But needless to say, they do have a great selection of clothing and lot's of named brands. Also Salvation Army's always have 1/2 off sales on certain tag colors weekly. Swing by with low expectations and maybe you'll find something of high expectations.

Sorry to say that it's not the same anymore, as it's gone downhill during the past few years. A recent disappointment has been the reduction of the senior discount from 25% to 10% on Wednesdays. It can be difficult to navigate inside the store since large clothing racks with new items are left within the aisles, obstructing the racks and making it difficult to shop. Although the clothing is supposed to be sorted by size, it is so mixed up that the organization system has been rendered useless for the most part. Overhead lights are flickering in several areas of the store which makes me feel uncomfortable and gives me a headache. The fitting rooms are dirty and unwelcoming, and I dread using them. I have to wonder what's happened to all the great items I used to come across regularly, since now so much of what's in the store feels like it's been picked over. Prices tend to be a bit more reasonable than some other thrift stores, but the selection has been sub par as of late. They used to have a nice selection of jewelry items, but they no longer carry jewelry. I used to see nice quality handbags, shoes and clothing in the store, but now that's rare. I can't help but wonder if the better donations are going somewhere else now.

I have been using thread up for years. You do have to be careful what you buy, but 9 out of 10…read moreitems I bought were as described. Their customer service is amazing! If you don't want to send your used items to them, don't. There are plenty of women's shelters and thrift stores you can donate to. If you want money for clothes you no longer use, open your own store or use poshmark, Etsy, eBay or have a rummage sale. Otherwise help someone else out and DONATE!

More than half the items have inaccurate measurements. A lot of clothes I got are really old, and were probably sitting in someone's closet for decades before they did a cleanout. I had to throw away quiet a few sports bras and leggings from them because the elastic had rotted into pieces and lost its elasticity, while description was saying item has barely any sign of wear. However, given all that, I got many items from them online with free shipping that I am enjoying. As a seller, don't expect much. If you send them expensive stuff, don't expect that they will even list them in your cleanout bundle, they will just disappear without any mention. If you have stuff that is sitting rotting in your closet for years or decades, it feels better to send it to threadup instead of leaving it in the alley or donating. At least maybe it will find a new owner that actually needs your stuff. If you are like me who prefers to give stuff away instead of throwing them out, it is a huge relief.

This is my rating based on the potential that I'm seeing with the redevelopment of this mall. Over…read moretime, this mall has generally been a good spot to gather with a quality set of stores, though there's definitely a lot more competition nearby with good options in all of the surrounding shopping centers that cover all the different varieties of shops and restaurants. With lots of indoor malls closing nearby, this setup has become a bit more of a rarity, and personally I still like having a large spot with furniture to sit down at when I need to rest, a climate controlled area for when it's too hot or cold outside, and lots of fun spots to do seasonal pictures. With Hawthorn 2.0, I'm quite excited for what is to come. It looks like there will be a fresh set of solid anchors like Perry's Steakhouse, AMC, Dave & Busters, Macy's, etc. If this develops similarly to Randhurst, this would be a great spot to gather in Vernon Hills. Even before this is complete however, Hawthorn Mall has retained more quality tenants and has an overall cleaner and more modern look than some of the other indoor malls nearby. With the next closest similar offering being Woodfield Mall, this is still a fairly unique offering.

It still has some favorites like Macy's, Maggiano's, and AMC theaters. I love going to Macy's. I can always find a bargain in the Backstage area! I hope that Hawthorn Mall can attract some new shops and return to its glory days.
