Shopping at Marshall's is like digging for a buried treasure. My friend talked me into joining her at Marshalls, after we had lunch. I have no idea how, but she found 2 cute purses. One was the latest basket style purse and another had a brown and white fabric. She had the patience of a saint and went through all the clothing and accessories they had to offer. The price of her purses was very reasonable and she bought them both. I on the other hand, looked around, found nothing, and left. Marshall's is good, if you know how to find their buried treasure. I've been coming here for 15+ years so maybe that's why I rate it high because I usually find nice quality items here. However, I don't find something every single time but it nice to browse the random brands you do find. The lines are sometimes long but moved through pretty quickly. The most DIRTIEST Marshalls I ever been to. The location is in Montrose Crossing shopping center. I would have expected better. The HBA area, the floors were dreadful. Some type of product was spilled in two aisles. Making the floor hazardous, several people mentioned the spills to staff, but it seemed they didnt care. They also sell a lot of broken merch, which could also be hazardous because of broken glass or ceramics with sharp edges. Lines are long. Only employees I see are stationed at the registers, who are decent and love to push their credit cards. The most dreadful part of my trip is their restrooms. It was so bad, I held it and went to the nearest Starbucks to use. If anything, Burlington is slightly better. read more

I stopped into this Marshall's a couple days ago. It is actually the first real store I've been into since March due to Covid. I was greeted my multiple staff making sure I had a face mask on and then counting the number of customers entering the store. I'll be honest, despite living down the street this is not my go to Marshall's due to the size. First things first, parking is normally fine. They do share the lot with other businesses but I've never had troubles finding a spot. Once inside you'll notice it's pretty small in size. The layout is also slightly flipped in comparison to other Marshall's. Right now is a perfect time to go because there's a lot of clearance due to Covid- if you're looking for winter stuff you'll find some good deals. I scored a Michael Kors Jacket originally priced at $190 for $38. They appear to be closing at 7 but when I headed to the line at 6:55 it was wrapped around the store and took a long time to check out. I noticed people still shopping passed 7 which I guess is fine considering the long line. Check out (once I got to the counter) was just okay. I had to remind the employee about the security tags after the fact. Overall it's an OK location but I prefer the Chevy Chase location any day. read more

Dirty and poor customer service. Considering it's in an affluent neighborhood this store is particularly dirty. Specifically bathroom. Cashiers always have an attitude and yell at the customers. They all seem like they are impatient and tired. Calling out the numbers to the customers in line like we are slow cattle. Today when I checked out I noticed that out of a 3 piece set I was buying, one piece was missing so I asked if they could deduct 10% (like they usually do in this scenario). Instead they told me that the price was incorrect on the tag and it should be more expensive. So...now you're making me pay more just because I brought it to your attention? Then the cashier told me "customers don't care about our process". Haha unreal. read more

Do not come to this store unless you expect to work and be treated as if you are a dirty person and beneath the cashiers. Most of the cashiers refuse to bag your items, expecting you to do their job. Their excuse is they cannot touch bags from your home, however they will touch the items that you are returning, which came from your home. Again expect to work or pay for a bag every time in order for cashiers to do their job. Do not waste your time in this store...better service and rapport at the TJ Maxx down the road. This location is dirty, disorganized, and lacks a solid selection of items compared to other locations in the area. The line to the registers is always at least a 20-30 minute wait. The sales associates are not efficient and they are always pushing their store credit cards on you multiple times before you can finalize your purchase, which is frustrating when you just want to be in and out. Also, they are always understaffed at the registers, which does not help the issues they have at the registers. I suggest visiting another store and avoid this one. read more

The store always has new things every now and then. I also enjoy buying food from there since they have some good stuff on their shelves. read more

I stopped by this Marshall's the other day..and yes the lines were long, but the cashiers were working as best they can; taking care to neatly fold any clothing, wrapping anything breakable. The cashiers ask if you want a credit card, not to slow you down, but give you the opportunity, if you wish; to save even more money. It may be negative to some, but that is not the intention. If (and at times it is) disorganized on the sales floor and sometimes messy , it's not due to the lack of trying by the staff to keep things neat and orderly. I can't understand some of these rude reviews!! Evidently, many of these shoppers are used to having maids and servants. read more

Where to begin lets start with the manager I was waiting in line on the right side when this woman out of nowhere decided to move everyone to the side I was standing h on and then proceeded to make me go to the back of the line without so much as a sorry or excuse me . This woman then proceeded to tell me I was wrong and I needed to move all the way to the back of the line which as the pictures show is a very very long line. She wouldn't tell me her name but I found out that it's Danika and she's the manager here at the Rockville store. This woman is rude abrasive and uneducated in customer service. This Marshalls store has really gone downhill. There are slim pickings and empty shelves that have not been restocked. As I perused the clearance aisle, I expected to find unwanted items that were marked down. However, I did not expect to find damaged and defective items that are not in a sellable state. Those items should have been salvaged. The store seems to be understaffed each time I visit. I waited in line for approximately 10 minutes for a return. It was uncomfortably cold in the store; the heat must have been inoperative or not turned on. No lie, even one of the cashiers had his winter coat on. Another had on a down vest. I do not recommend anybody to buy anything in this store. There customer service is really bad. If you want to buy something it is OK. But if you decide to return something back, you will be treated as a criminal. On February 03, 2021 I bought a career jacket, pure wool, for $18.00. Next day I came to the store to return it. I was served by cashier #0015 and manager Kevin M. I was accused I was trying to return a wrong jacket, and they could not accept it. After a long dispute this manager Kevin M. offered me a store credit. But I did not accept it, because I was returning the jacket I bought in the store and in a good time frame. We disputed again, I was accused again in stealing. After a long dispute the manager Kevin M. decided to make one "exception" to me and return my money back to my credit card. And he told me, next time he won't do this exception. So I was accused of wrongdoing one more time. I feel very unsatisfaid with the bad customer service in this store, and I do not want to go there anymore. read more

This Marshalls is in an area where there are a whole bunch of these bargain type stores. In the 1-mile vicinity, there is a TJ Maxx, Ross, and Filenes Basement. Out of the litter, I like Marshalls the best. They seem much more organized and clean plus a better men's selection than the other stores. I'm not a huge fan of these types of stores because I don't really like scavenger hunting, however, I do like paying low prices. I'm usually able to accomplish my purchasing mission when I come here. read more

I went Christmas shopping tonight at one of my favorite store and thinking it would be great. If I could give this a no star, that's what I would do. The line was very long so Danika was taking control of the situation. I was standing in the correct place but she proceeded to tell me to keep backing up and putting people ahead of me. I don't see why I was being punished for being in the correct spot. I tried to explain to Danika and she snapped at me and push my cart back. I told her that I would like to see a manager, Danika told me she is the manager and the only manager on duty and proceeded to snap at me again to move to end of the line. Who does that to a customer? When I got to the front of the line finally, the real Manager was there pleasantly greeting everyone. I told the Zania (real Manager) what Danika had done, Zania proceeded to apologize for Danika's behavior. I found out on top of Danika being rude, she was only an Assistant Manager and she wasn't the only Manager on duty. I am a loyal paying customer. Danika should not be in the customer service industry. There were two other customers that felt the same way. The Rockville store just lost a loyal customer. read more

Not fun. I've been hunting for cheap picture frames, and I bumped into about 10 people with my shopping cart because there is no space in here! Not that the aisles aren't wide or anything, but there are crates full - some overflowing - of crap in the middle of aisles like an obstacle course! Pretty annoying. The Marshalls on Rockville Pike gets a lot of traffic and it shows. The isles are usually a mess and the lines are long. Its a hard thing to avoid considering its right in the middle of the busiest part of Rockville, so I give it some slack. Thankfully they have a lot of registers with capable staff to handle the traffic but its still a bummer when you're in a rush. The standouts for this Marshalls are the Men's suits and home goods aisles. The suits are pretty cheap and have some decent name brands that you might be able to get lucky with if someone else hasn't already snagged it. Climb over some piles of junk to the home goods aisles and you'll be thanked with tons of stuff you may or may not need for your home. It is a bit of a mess but you can find some hidden treasures in here. With the traffic draws weird people, during the summer I once saw a tall middle aged man taking off his shirt to reveal his hairy-as-an-ape chest to try on some tight shirts. This place was chaotic!! At the door, there was a table with a ton of shoes marked for $3-5. It was crowded with people snapping up brand name shoes for next to nothing. What a true Labor Day Sale hehe. I found a pair of Corso Como shoes for $5 well now it was hard to say no. I know what you're thinking--who reviews a Marshall's? Well in this case, me. I review Marshall's. This Marshall's location is clean, well organized, and has a great shoe selection. However, today I was killing time between appointments and popped in to purchase an umbrella. This visit was fine until checkout and it became absolutely TERRIBLE. I would have rated this place with 4 stars, but their staff is dreadful. I used to come here regularly, now I doubt I'll return. The transaction was a NIGHTMARE. Among other things (Columbia fleece, iPhone 5 charger) I bought two umbrellas--one was $10.00, one was $8.00. Everyone following me? two umbrellas--two different prices, okay good. The individual scans the $8.00 one, over and over--gives up, and scans the $10.00 twice. You can probably tell where I'm going with this, and I understand it's just two dollars--but if I wanted two $10.00 umbrellas, I would've bought two I'm on a budget and I know my boyfriend is just going to lose his umbrella anyway--so $8.00 ANYWAY, I point out that he's over charged me--he cannot figure out how to undo this, he calls his manager over. The manager, and other employees LAUGH at him--and say "exchange it." I wish they had done more than laugh, because the man spends the next 10 minutes trying to exchange my umbrella. By the end of it, he credits me $8.48 (the actual cost with tax of the umbrella), and then proceeds to charge me $8.48. What was the purpose of that?! I actually had to pay $2.00 for this miserable experience, because he didn't credit my account the proper amount. I thought it was all said and done, and then found his erred transaction on my statement. If your employee asks you a question, it's because they genuinely need your help--do your job and manage the store. This is embarrassing. read more

Ew. This place is disgusting and disorganized beyond what should be accepted at these kinds of discount rack stores. Don't let the filth discourage you from sifting around the racks for that "needle in the haystack" item you just absolutely must buy thanks to __% off retail price. Ladies: beware there is an overabundance of Large+ sizes. The ratio of plus size clothing to petite is truly disappointing here, but don't give up. I managed to find a few sports bras and tanks that were S/M (I was shopping for workout clothing), but they were probably the only two in the rack. I found the first one and decided to sift through every single item on one rack to find another ~eyeroll~ Anyways, I don't like this particular Marshalls at all. It's really small and they're not always stocked to the ceiling. The Marshalls in Columbia/Ellicott City area is A LOT better (and bigger). read more

Products are okay but management/ some staff not competent. The store overall is okay in product availability and price competitiveness so if you just make a purchase, you will not feel anything uncomfortable. But when if there is issue or product inquiry, some management members are not very smooth in solving the issue.. Shocking of lack of people skills.. In Sep 2019 I had purchased a pack of women crew socks (6 pairs) on the packaging, and only found 5.. Asked the floor assistant, she was very polite and just told me to inform the cashier for an adjustment. When I got to checkout, cashier did not know what to do, and asked the deputy manager next to her. The deputy manager (an Asian lady) did not even look at me and told the cashier "NO", and the reason was that I (customer) should not use the packaging description as the reference. She thought there was no sign of seals being loose or broken. What reason? Yet Not a big deal. I told her the store employee agreed with this as defective. But she just ignored my comments and stared at her computer. Her attitude really irritated me. I am an Asian as well so I'd say not related to racist attitude but in general she is not a pleasant person, unfortunately in service sector. Will not recommend this store. read more

Wow. Is all I can say, and not necessary in a positive way. The store it is unfortunately very unorganized. The first time I went, I thought to myself, maybe they're just having a bad day, but I've given them a few more tries (when accompanying my friends to the store)... From the sunglasses, to the purses/bags to the perfume/beauty products... everything is just really kind of thrown together. This could in part be due to the fact that many customers might pick things up and place them in the wrong spot but this just made it difficult for me to find anything. Even with the clothes, items were hung in the wrong section. I'll give it a 2 stars mostly because it is pretty decently sized and the deals are reasonable (good prices). If you peruse a bit, you might find some good steals... sunglasses or tops for ~$10.00 which is pretty good... but you might also come walking out with a headache. read more

Many people say this place is disorganized...I did not see it when I went the other night. Shoes/womens/mens/purses/socks/home sections easily distinguished. Slcaks/tops/clearance on the hangers all separated by sizes. Clothes weren't on the floor, and there were plenty of employees hanging clothes on the racks. Items here are reasonably priced. I was done in about 10 minutes after looking around for clothes. I went to the shoe section, and that was kind of lacking. They had quite a few shoes on display, but didn't have many sizes out. I'm sure it was in the back if I had asked an employee, but I don't like to be in stores longer than I need to. The queue was, I guess, as expected. 2 cashiers, taking their time with each customer. As the queue grew (near closing time), a third cashier came to assist. No complaints there.. read more

This is a REALLY messy store. I was looking for boxers here and everything was just everywhere. It's definitely a good deal still so whatever. I found a pack of 3 boxers opened up and there was one left my size, they let me buy the 1 that was left, I think the other 2 were stolen. Not sure why someone would steal $4/pair underwear. I went through their jeans selection and everything was very messy. I see they are trying to keep things organized, with the sizes and what not. I'm assuming their very busy and people just keep messing everything up. The cologne was cheap and the selection wasn't the most extensive. A lot of boxes were on the bottom and missing 1 or two bottles per gift set. I'm assuming theft here is a big issue. The lines move very quick so don't worry about that long line. Discount stores, such as Marshall's, are always a bit messy and unpredictable. With such good deals, they rotate through inventory constantly. This Marshall's is fairly large store, however I feel that they're low on clothing inventory every time I'm there. Unfortunately this leads me to go to other stores that may be more expensive but will only require one trip to get what I am looking for. Their other selections such as shoes and home decor seem to be more well stocked though. read more

It's slightly more expensive than the Ross across the street, but it's a much better shopping experience (even among discount stores like this). The kid's section (I wear boys windpants to work out) only has toddler sizes. I did find very high quality yoga pants (bamboo fibers anyone) and took them up to the cashier, and made the cashier mark them down not once but twice (from $14.99 to $10 to $7) and then bought two pairs. Heh. Speaking of lines: I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes for the cashier. Compared to the hour at the Ross across the Pike, the extra $1 I pay per item is (at Marshall's) is worth the hour I get back in my life. Also, the parking lot has no speedbumps. Bonus. read more

Maybe I'm all shopped out, but this Marshalls experience was not fulfilling. I came here to return an item and was looking forward to visiting the area. The first thing I did was wait in line to return the item. Helena barely looked me in the eye, didn't thank me, begrudgingly did her work, didn't smile, and was overall a poor customer service representative. I felt women's apparel was very disorganized. There was definitely a lot of merchandise, but it wasn't as well laid out. The aisles felt very close to each other, and there wasn't much space between the active section and the pants and the jackets and so forth. Maybe there was a lot of people. There were definitely many pillows and men's socks to choose from, but overall, the store made me feel a little cramped, and it was on the dark side. read more
