I had an appointment scheduled and I was running late, so I called and told them I'd be late for my appointment. On the phone the receptionist said that's fine. We'll tell the doctor you're a few minutes late but I ended up being 20 minutes late. When I got there, I was informed that now my visit would be called an emergency visit and they wanted to charge me an extra $60 for squeezing me in. I told the manager I had called and should've been informed that after a certain period of time there would be an extra charge or maybe reschedule the appointment. None of this was disclosed. We were up in NH heading home from a weekend of camping when we got a frantic call from our cousin, who was watching our family dog Fatima. She had bloat and it was so bad that when she arrived at MAH, they did not think she was going to make it. We were told she didn't even have a heartbeat at one point. THANK YOU to the two vets and five technicians that were able to clear the air bubble and bring Fatima back to life, so that she could go into surgery and have a chance to live. We are so grateful for your team and their quick action and expertise. Fatima was definitely not ready to go and can now go back to enjoying the good life, all thanks to you all! read more

We LOVE the vets but a recent change by management is VERY CUSTOMER UNFRIENDLY and likely will force us to another vet. this is a recent (Jan 2024) Change and is ANTI-CUSTOMER....Marshfield Animal hospital will no longer approve/fill prescriptions for food and medicine automatically/electronically on Chewy.com or 1800petmeds. If you prefer to order from those (extremely popular) types of websites, you have to get a written physical prescription and MAIL it in. This 2024 people! Oh yes, and of course the hospital now has their OWN associated online pharmacy and you can order from there (at a higher costs and no other items like treats/toys etc are there). Some of the rudest people you'll encounter in the veterinary business. Believe me when I say rude, snarky, condescending and obnoxious. If you want to leave someone a message, you'll have to go thru a "Gestapo" style interrogation. You can't leave a message for their customer liaison.??? Does that make any scene? Whoever said she was the manager, like a coward didn't even give me her name. Then hung up on me when my tone started to show I was very frustrated to de talking in circles. Here's the story: I'm an old customer. I just moved back to the area and was very excited to have met their costumer liaison during a business transaction. We spoke, she was very pleasant and convinced me to go back. So, I made an appointment for my older dog Jack. I called and asked if the customer liaison, Kirsten was in. She was but wasn't available. I asked if they could have her call me back once she freed up. I explained that I was a returning customer, that I was returning because of a referral from their customer liaison employee and that I just had a few questions for her. The woman would not take my msg and said that they needed to know what I was going to ask Kristen, their customer liaison. That I couldn't leave a call back msg but that I had to explain myself about what I wanted to talk with Kristen. Very bizarre behavior from a business. I canceled my appointment; the manager actually chuckled and said no problem. Horrible costumer service, rude, condescending and apparently don't like returning customers. The building has been rebuilt with lots of open space in the lobby to separate the animals as they come and go. The staff - doctors especially - get 5 stars for friendliness and knowledge. They have taken extremely good care of my 15 year old pup, and and were extremely sympathetic when I had to put my 11 year old woofer down because of liver failure. I can't thank them enough for that. BUT, every time I go there (at least once a year) my wait time is AT LEAST 15 minutes, but the last two times they have been 25 minutes and most recently 22. (We're headed back in a few weeks for a follow up - same time so it will be interesting if it happens again). I understand that sometimes things happen in this sort of business, but it is consistent. I appreciate people who appreciate my time, and for that they loose some stars... $360 for an annual physical for two dogs, including a lime vaccine and heart worm test. They cant handle a Chocolate Lab. Unreal.... i had my 18 yr old daughter drop my dog off for a wellness check and to get his nails clipped. They send him home with Medication for anti anxiety, no nails clipped and probably no exam either..The Prescription medication given to an 18 year old girl was Trazadone. Trazadone is a prescribed human medication that causes drowsiness and one other side affects. Not only did they charge me $40 for these pills i will never give my dog. They wont even refund me the money. They Never clip his nails. Didn't even weigh him. Unless he is magically the same weight as 2 years ago. I,m done will never be back. Awful. read more

My dogs are my family, so I only want to give them the best. Everyone is very loving and caring at MAH. I've been to numerous vets and worked with many of the technicians. They are expensive, but thankfully my dogs don't have a lot of issues. Please note that you can "decline" some of the expensive tests, just talk to them about it before they administer anything. They were able to quickly diagnose her (two torn ACL's - extremely rare for a puppy her age!) and refer us to a great specialist down Cape. The receptionists are wonderful and extremely responsive to calls and emails. Most of the techs are great too. Unfortunately, our experiences with Dr. Barrow left much to be desired. His bedside manner was non existent and my dog, who loves everyone, was extremely fearful of this man. Additionally, he gave advice that was most definitely not in my dogs interest, including recommending food that they sell, despite being reminded numerous times that my dog is highly allergic to the ingredients and telling us that rawhide, which every other vet will tell you to stay away from, would be a great snack/chew for my dog. I dog not have an uncommon breed by any means, yet he thought my dog, who is of average weight for his breed and size, should be at least 15lbs less than breed standards. He also stated that the average lifespan for the breed is approximately 5 years, when in fact it's 12+ years. Bottom line is that this vet is more interested in profit than your pet's wellness. read more
