If have used Roberts for two different dogs. Always found them wonderful. I have puppy proofed my house but this past weekend my almost adult Assie had a piece of plastic stuck in her mouth. Three weeks ago my dog was walking and hiking 8-10 miles daily. Dr. Marion Patillo assessed him on 10/13 and diagnosed him as having colitis. Not trusting her diagnosis, I rushed Isaac to Angell Medical where he was diagnosed with meningoencephalitis and admitted to the CCU for a week. Now, he is unable to walk, is undergoing intense physical therapy, and has cost over $13,000 in medical bills. My Norwegian Elkhound, Toby had a scheduled visit this morning to have blood drawn because he hasn't been too cooperative in having it drawn on 2 visits. He was seen by John, vet tech first (who has been with Roberts for 40 years. Super impressive! and then Dr. Callahan, the Medical Director. She was so gentle and thorough with Toby. She's amazing! I was expecting to leave Toby there so they could sedate him and get the draw but within 5 minutes, Dr. Callahan and John had the job done. Super wonderful experience! I never write reviews but had to after getting off the phone with Dr Cosman, Veterinarian at Roberts VCA in Hanover. I am so pleased with my experience tonight. My 10 month old mastiff pup gave me quite a scare so I called the nearest animal hospital (VCA Roberts). The woman who answered my call was kind, compassionate and most importantly-helpful! After hearing my concerns she instructed me to bring our pup, who they have never seen before or have any records on, right over to be evaluated. Dr Cosman did the eval which was reassuring that she was not in acute respiratory distress as I had feared. Dr Cosman reviewed with us his findings and discussed options for plan- further work up with labs and X-rays, although lungs clear so not necessarily indicated, or to bring her home for close monitoring with clear parameters of when to have her re-evaluated. He explained everything clearly, validated my initial concerns, listened and provided support and answered my questions. Of course our dogs health is most important but I really appreciate that Dr Cosman did not pressure us in completing a full, and very expensive, work up!! Bonus points- I received follow up call from Dr Cosman later that night to check on Maggie's status. She's doing well and resting. I know what to watch for- thanks to the clear instructions from Dr Cosman. What an excellent team tonight over there a Roberts VCA! Thank you! read more

This place is completely over priced! They tried to charge me close to $1,000 to nueter my perfectly healthy dog and $700 to nueter my healthy cat which is insane. They refused to give me any information for my pets untill I signed this form of information they already have (name, phone number, address etc.) when I wanted to leave and go to a new place which seemed completely unnecessary and a waste of time . this place is completely expensive where it seemed I was paying $200-$600 everytime I had to go here for no reason and if I refused they would make me feel like a bad owner. I rushed my dog in after hours in terrible condition. The doctor on call had so much knowledge and experience he was able to diagnose the problem immediately and put me and my dog at ease. My thoughts went from the worst to relief in moments. It will take a few weeks but she will be fine. The staff was incredible with me over the phone and when I arrived. They rushed out to the parking lot with a stretcher to help her inside. I saw the doctor right away and got a full explanation of what was happening and why. They walked us through the process and gave us plenty of time to say our goodbyes. Even after the procedure. We had our cat cremated and when we went back to get her ashes they still were expressing their sympathy and also sent a card to us. My dog has started developing an ear infection so I had made him an appointment on Friday for the next Monday at 8am. (Right when they open) I arrive at 7:50 and followed the covid instructions to call when you arrive. I got the "we're closed" message. No worries I wait til 8 and watch the entire staff arrive and then call again, they inform me they will be right out. 1/2 hour goes by and still nothing but I watch 4 other dogs enter. So i call again and inform them about the situation and they said that since i booked the appointment 2 days ago i was considered "urgent care" and had to wait. Apparently it's not that urgent, oh and it's an extra $30ish. Finally an hour goes by and I have work at 10, it's 9am and I'm still not seen yet I continue to wait and watch other dogs enter while mine cries in the car like a child rubbing his ear. So i call again! The manager I spoke with was rude and did nothing to help me out with a timeline and did not offer to move my appointment. I'm now going to be late for my job. What is the point of making an 8am appointment if I don't even get seen within an hour of that? But let's say I was 10 min behind they'd pass right over my appointment without a second thought. MIRACLES AT VCA ROBERTS. The call came late on a Friday afternoon; a man had found a kitten in bad shape and called The Last Resort cat shelter. I picked up the kitten who was light as a feather and wheezing, with eyes were swollen shut by a crusty infection. After cleaning his face of debris, I took the kitten to see Dr. Caitlin Murphy at VCA Roberts in Hanover. The kitten, now named "Tux," was dehydrated, starved, had a low temperature, a massive upper respiratory infection, and his eye and face were so swollen that we could not even tell if his left eye was intact (four days later, we could see that it was!). He was so far gone, but no more of that. Dr. Caitlin created a treatment plan. Between us, the kitten would be cared for round-the-clock. Two weeks later, he was bouncing around, demanding toys and affection, and, the miracle, his injured left eye had mostly healed. The staff in reception, the techs, the doctor, the hospital administrator--everything you would want for a pet in serious trouble. Thanks everyone. You are all the real reasons "Tux" is likely to have a long and happy life, and I appreciate you all for your skills and your loving hearts. read more

My dog had been going to the same wonderful vet for seven years (shout out to Porter Square Veterinarian in Somerville). So when we moved to Hanover, I was nervous about finding the right vet for my dog. We had no choice but to find one quickly when we came home from work and our dog wasn't walking. You could tell he was in a lot of pain and we wanted help fast. Roberts is just around the corner from our house so we gave it a shot. Dr. Tehrany saw him and immediately wanted to test him for lyme before performing any other, potentially unnecessary, tests. Sure enough, 10 minutes later, his test came back positive for lyme disease. Mind you, he had seen two other vets for the same problem and both diagnosed him with shoulder strain and put him on rest and an anti-immflamatory. This means, he went quite a while suffering with lyme and we had no idea. Luckily, I think we found it in time before it became really serious and effected his kidneys, which can be fatal. Poor guy. Dr. Tehrany was compassionate and professional. She was patient with my questions and my concern the following day when he seemed worse than ever (apparently, it's a common side effect when they first start the antibiotic.) She didn't rush me over the phone, she listened to me and seemed to have a genuine concern for my dog. I'll be returning to Roberts for all of my dog's needs. read more

The staff at the Hanover VCA animal hospital is very helpful, efficient, and friendly. Dr. Moses, one of the cardiologist, is excellent. He is knowledgeable and able to explain what he is doing, how it works, and what you can do to help your pet and why. Compared the other local vet hospitals the Hanover VCA is the most affordable for everything from check-ups to meds. However, cost was not why I came to the Hanover VCA to begin with; it was for their level of care and great customer service. We've been here for a couple emergency visits with a dog and cat that have both since passed away. The care they got here was great and we said goodbye to our 16 year old cat here last fall. Dr. Tehrany made the experience much better than we expected. She was so caring, understanding and was very gentle with our cat in her last minutes. We really appreciated her allowing us to take our time leaving and not rushing us out the door as we said our final goodbye. Fast forward to today. I took my Boxer here for a shot and physical. The vet she was seeing in our hometown was difficult to schedule an appt when we needed so we decided to take her to vca because of the great service we've gotten in the past. We saw Dr. Borofsky and she was great. Very good with the dog and didn't push any more vaccines which I totally appreciated since we tend to go the holistic route. The tech Erica was great as well and very good and gentle. The only thing that was kind of a pain was the slow check out, especially when we had been there almost an hour already. The price was very reasonable, too. I'd highly recommend Dr. Borofsky or Dr. Tehrany as they will take great care of your pet! read more

I can't say enough about the care my sweet dog received at VCA. Having just moved here, I was without a vet when my beloved Boxer started showing signs of a serious UTI and/or bladder infection (dripping blood in her urine, etc). I took her in at 8:30 on a Tuesday night, was greeted by friendly and caring staff, and was seen fairly quickly. Dr. Martinez was wonderful and really took the time to talk with me about everything. My dog was feeling better in less than 12 hours and she has been doing well ever since. The staff followed up and Dr. Martinez himself called me on 2 separate occasions to let me know how test results came back, and that she needed 10 more days of antibiotics. The clinic is clean and the prices are reasonable. For an emergency visit that required blood work, sterile urine samples, meds and an office visit, I was out the door for less than $350 which shocked me. If you have a need a good, straightforward vet who will care for your pet with love and genuine concern, don't hesitate to take them to VCA Roberts!!! read more

The vet I saw for Bergeron (my kitten) did not by any means try to overcharge me during the visit. She was honest and clear about the prices, procedures and even my alternative options at-hand before committing to a plan. I was blown away by this. I drove here all the way from Quincy (with an anxious kitty who does NOT like going for car rides) - but it was totally worth the stressful commute. My 10 month old puppy, who we rescued a couple of months ago, gave us quite a scare on Saturday morning as he had a lot of blood in his stool. We called Roberts right when they opened , and were able to come in for an urgent care appointment. This was his first time at the vet with us, and he is an extremely shy dog. The care he received at Roberts was unbelievably fabulous! They veterinarian who he saw and the vet tech were so thorough and kind, and I cannot thank them enough. They diagnosed him and gave him medication, and made a great effort to bond with such a shy dog. I felt that they truly listened to every question and concern I had, and they eased my anxiety. I could not imagine taking my dog anywhere else that day, and we have since enrolled him to be a regular patient there, as the service we received was unbeatable! Front desk staff was amazing as well! Years ago, we started to bring our elderly dog here for care, and they were so great with her and super supportive and kind to us. I have taken my beagle to Roberts Animal hospital since he was eight weeks old. He will be twelve next month. The staff and doctors are the best! They have always treated Ricky the same way I do. Brenna and Dr. Simpson are his go to team. Today I had taken Ricky for his wellness visit and recheck for an ear infections with Dr Hendrix. The one problem that I have is that when I wanted a add on test for one medication the charge is $156.75. The prices are going higher. $362.00 for an ear infections two weeks ago and today. Dr Hendrix wants to do senior dog blood work to the tune of $785.63. At this price they should erect a new hospital. Corporate VCA just thinks about the bottom line and bonuses. They say you can go elsewhere but it's the "well VCA is charging this much and so are we." Where does this end! Just ask how will all these test going to help my pet. Because this will only lead to more test. Don't get my wrong the staff is the best just ask questions and the doctors will give you their honest opinions. My mom has dementia. Since I saw her last year, she had acquired an older dog! He was by now a mass of matted fur, and I think it would have limited his movements soon. I made an appointment at the groomer for him, but he needed a rabies shot first, so we went to VCA Roberts. Despite his neglected appearance, the front desk staff were welcoming, and not at all judgemental. We were then seen by Kirsten, then she and Dr Callahan examined my mom's dog, made recommendations for his care, and did his shot. They helped me get both mom and dog safely back into the car. He went to the groomer, got shaved, and now looks like a new pup! I want to thank Kirsten, Dr Callahan and their staff for their kindness, patience, tolerance and and concern, and the respect they showed my mom. After going to VCA Brookline Animal Hospital and Angell Memorial (2 of the priciest vets in the Boston Area) I got some advice to go to VCA Roberts for my French Bulldog. Dr. Patterson and staff knew EXACTLY what was wrong with my Frenchie after I spent over 1,500$ at the other animal hospitals treating her for things she didn't have. This vet saved my Frenchie, and did a wonderful job with her Spay. The prices are MUCH lower than Boston and I honestly think this is a much better vet. I have been taking both of my dogs there for regular check ups as well as anything they may need. They are part of their care club as well as additional insurance, I have a dog with a simple ear infection and he was prescribed medication for it, the small amount I was given was not enough and now just a horrible experience 2 days just trying to get more for him. Had to pay over $160 dollars for my cat to be diagnosed with an active flea (not plural). I could not be seen on a normal vet visit which was only $69 even though the entire clinic was practically empty before, during and after I went there. Emergency visit is $75.85. I explained financial hardship to veterinarian when she mentioned the additional need for him to have a full dental cleaning in the near future. She just dismissed what I said and continued explaining the problems that would arise if it were neglected. If I was financially unable to pay for full dental cleaning, how am I supposed to pay for this visit for one flea?! I will have to skip buying some groceries like last time I went to the vet. I am starting to hate going to the vet as much as my cat! read more

I have yet to have a positive experience at Roberts. I first brought my cat there 2 years ago with cystitis which was quickly escalating. The vet asked if I was comfortable giving the cat medicine myself, or if I would like him to give the first dose. I told him I had never given a pet medication. He just laughed, and sent me on the way, without giving my cat the medication that would have helped him start getting better immediately. By the time I arrived home, my cat was soaked in his own bloody urine and clearly in extreme pain - not the ideal time for a worried pet owner to learn to give a finicky pet pills for the first time. A year later, I brought my mother's cat to Roberts to be put down. I arranged for private cremation and was told I would receive a call from Roberts on a particular day to pick up the ashes. When I never heard back, I called to follow up, and was told my cat had never been sent out for cremation. While the pet cemetery was horrified about the mix up and apologized profusely, no one I spoke with at Robert's was apologetic at all, maybe it is routine for them to misplace dead pets there.... Who knows what animal the ashes I eventually received back belong to. I gave this place a third try last week. My cat has not been eating or drinking water for a week now, and had awful diarrhea and was vomiting everywhere. I waited there while pet owners with appointments after mine came and went, until finally I spoke up about how the last time I brought my cat there, he left covered in his own urine, and I wasn't comfortable leaving my cat in the carrier much longer. They brought me into a room, where my cat howled in pain, peed on himself, and vomited everywhere. In the middle of it, someone from the front desk came in to bring me a Care Credit form. I pointed out that my cat was clearly having some problems at the moment, and needed to see someone. It was almost an hour later before the vet came back in. She was nice, and good with my pet, and thankfully at least rehydrated him, but almost $500 later, she didn't have an explanation for what the problem might be, other than maybe some stress. She promised to call two days later to follow up - never did. I did, however, get a call to come in 2 days later so they could do a urinalysis, as they somehow hadn't gotten enough urine while I was there (wouldn't have been an issue if you hadn't left my cat waiting 2 hours and peeing all over himself). I went back for the urinalysis, and I did not get to see a vet at all. I repeatedly expressed concern to the tech about my cat's continued diarrhea and refusal to eat, and got no answers. I was even charged another $70 for them to repeat the test I had already been charged for only 2 days before! $550 later, my cat is just as sick as he was when I went there, I never did receive the follow up phone call I was promised, and it is clear that VCA Roberts cares more about making money for nothing than taking care of animals. read more

We have been so impressed every time we have brought our dogs here (2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels) This past weekend though we had an emergency with one of them and received top notch care from the moment we walked in. We were terrified/weepy and were immediately put at ease with Dr. Murphy. She is confident and compassionate.... 2 things you like to see in a vet. I felt assured by her skills and bedside manner and this made me know that Winnie was in good hands. She ended up having to have urgent surgery and the surgeon, Dr. Patterson, was amazing. Not only did he fix her right up, he called us that night to let us know how she was doing! How did he know that we were home crying and worrying she wasn't going to make it?! It was such a thoughtful gesture that can never be repaid. All in all, I highly recommend Roberts VCA and I know we will continue our care with them forever. read more
