We had one little glitch and it was taken care of immediately and even though it wasn't a huge issue to us, we were told we were being compensate and we weren't even particularly upset or even thought we would get a discount. They are that serious about your stay being seamless and perfect. When we first booked, I wasn't so sure about staying there as we hadn't been to Stowe in 15 years, but when we arrived I wasn't so sure blown away! We are definitely going back and will be staying with Sun and Ski Resort. They have a nice little complimentary breakfast, coffee all day, and cookies in the afternoon. For a fee, there is a bowling alley and miniature golf which are extremely well maintained. The pool was very clean and the lounges soooo comfy with cushions on them. I was a bit disappointed the first morning when I saw a continental breakfast laid out. It looked good though with fantastic granola, fruit, smoothies, and juice. But when I sat down, a full, made-to-order breakfast was also offered. The only mistake I made was in not taking a picture of the huge waffle covered with sliced strawberries and whipped cream. I think the morning manager Allie was responsible for the menu. But this isn't all. We chatted with the other managers and got suggestions about where to eat dinner and what to do. And there was more to do right at the inn. A bar is open every night if there are customers. A fellow living in the neighborhood stopped at the bar one night, and we got even more information from him. There's plenty of parking. Dozens of restaurants and shops are within a block or two, so if you are too tired to drive somewhere, such as Stowe, there are a number of good choices for dinner with a short walk. The room and the parlor/lobby make you feel it's the 19th century. A jigsaw puzzle was on the coffee table and being slowly put together by guests. Kids were playing with the many toys and games there too. And all the other guests seemed to appreciate the Old Stagecoach Inn as much as we did, giving it a community feel. The only cautions are there is no elevator in part of the inn and there was no TV in our large room. However, since we felt we were in a 19th century, Victorian house, a TV would have been out of place. They said they may add a TV, but like us, they were worried that it would look odd with all the antiques. And yes the main building dates to 1820 and a stagecoach inn, but it was later turned into a mansion and even late extra rooms were added. When we toured the Shelburne Museum, a docent at the Vermont inn building said he had helped convert the house to an inn years ago and remembered the beautiful woodwork in some of the rooms.

Every other small business involved in our trip, four hotels, Airbnbs, our Turo car rental, and the airlines, provided full refunds or credits. The Old Stagecoach Inn was the only one that refused to offer any flexibility, citing that severe weather is a "foreseeable" risk and that I should have purchased trip insurance. I understand small businesses rely on reservations, but the response from management felt unnecessarilyj rigid and dismissive, especially compared to the empathy shown by other small, family owned Vermont inns. Given how the situation was handled, I would not stay here or recommend it to others. P.S. We don't think extreme weather is "foreseeable" since we had been checking the weather up to a week prior.

This made me smile. They have a continental breakfast set up every morning consisting of English muffins, bagels, toast, donuts, danish, and fruit. They also have a table of cere with milk options. Normally I avoid continental breakfast but it was so warm and welcoming I did go the day I left. I was not disappointed. The staff at this place are genuinely good people. You can see it. It's not a "fake" customer service experience. They are genuinely happy to be there, happy to help, and pleasant to talk to. Upon check in they gave the vibe that they "genuinely wanted me to have a good experience". My room was on the second floor of this two story hotel. The place is clean. My room did have a cat urine smell. I was room 235. It is a pet friendly hotel. I wasn't sure if it was cat urine or if it was Some sort of moisture issue. But I had with me a very small air freshener that was oil based. I opened the window and I sprayed the carpet. By the time we were fully in the room for the night I can say the smell was 90 percent gone and only returned once or twice. My spray did work. They need to really steam Clean that rooms carpets. I also had two broken tiles on the bathroom floor and my wall paper was peeling. I really do believe that a fresh coat of paint in rooms, hallways, and a good scrub of carpets is just what this place needs. I do understand this was the end of their busy season, so I will be interested to see if they do any of this before I return next year. This place also has a restaurant Connected to the hotel that serves alcohol. I have to admit that's really nice that I didn't have to leave to get food if I didn't want to. I did not have the chance to order from there but the hotel Smelled amazing and I wanted to, but, had reservations made I advance at other places. They sell postcards at the front desk f3 for $1 that I did purchase. The vending machine had everything in it you can think of. Ramen noodles, Salzburg steak dinner, soda, candy, chips. They have an area where you can leave extra food or anything extra from your trip that you don't want to take home. I had been fighting a cold and someone left zinc vitamins that I did indeed take and I have to say they helped me a lot so thank you to whomever left them. I left all my granola bars and k cups in in exchange and also made a cash donation to the box by the coffee. I did not get to try the hot tub or the indoor pool but I really wanted to. I would stay here in the future but next time I book I will call and briefly ask them to Make sure the room they put me in doesn't have that odor. Thank you for an amazing experience. We headed downstairs to the bar lounge where we'd be having dinner. Brenda, our server and bartender, was super sweet and helpful. I got a glühwein to warm up and my dining partner got a hot toddy cider with I think Fireball (because it tasted like when I make it that way). We ordered the cheeseburger and fried chicken sandwiches and split them so we could each try them. Both were fantastic. The copious side of fries were perfectly cooked and crispy; the chicken was flavorful, perfectly crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. The cheeseburger was absolutely perfect. We decided to forgo a dessert, but they had a couple appetizing choices. Both Brenda and the gentleman who ran out our food were super welcoming and hospitable. The ambience is very charming. Yes, as others have said, the decor is a bit retro, but it was very clean and tidy. I can imagine what a spectacular venue it had to be in the 70s. It's still a pretty cool place today. It's now high on my list for après ski.

We order breakfast to go as we had a dog and enjoyed it out on the Adirondack chairs. The room, was very fun! A little outdated but it's Vermont! It had a certain chair that I loved. The building is beautiful with the original wood and trees. All of the little nooks and fireplaces are so fun and cozy. We did have a dog and felt very safe and comfortable and wanted there which was huge. The backyard was a perfect spot for our pup to run and play before we headed to the mountain. They do put all the dogs in one section on one separate floor so if you don't have a dog they aren't around you wish is nice. The breakfast was amazing! So amazing we got it both days. Highly highly suggest the breakfast sandwich and the hash brown. We got it to go as we were getting ready to ski and had a dog. Service at breakfast was great. Dinner was also very good. We had the Fried Testa appetizer special and it was delicious... the sauce that went with it was absolutely amazing. I had the mushroom cavatelli. The menu is limited but different and delicious! The owner breaks up homemade muffins for breakfast every day, and there are plenty full options, such as scrambled eggs and sausage, yogurt, and granola. And a pack it up so well for you so you can totally eat it on your way up to the mountain. The absolute peak of this entire trip was the hot tub is at the northern lights lodge. Surprisingly it was rarely occupied we barely had to wait except for one time we may be waited 20 minutes for a group to leave because it's a pretty small hot tub and we were four people trying to go together The hot tub is also open from 8 AM to 10 PM great for a pre-post ski session. There is also a sauna and indoor pool and an outdoor pool. The outdoor pool was not open for the winter obviously. The rooms were spacious and cozy. Definitely looking forward to make a trip back. Having lost my father two years ago, Christmas at home would never be the same, so my family has made it tradition to travel for the holidays. The wildflower was a perfect choice. The innkeepers and the staff were superb, as was the view and the food. The whole place was picture perfect and ripped from a Norman Rockwell painting or a hallmark movie. We cannot wait to return. While the farm is off the main highway a mile or two, it's an easy drive to local villages and less than an hour to Montpelier. All rooms are up a narrow center staircase with a full bath in the hall. They have a spa bath on the first floor that is pictured here in Photos. A large tiled accessible shower, jetted tub, tall windows which can be opened and ample towels and supplies. Of course, breakfast was a fresh two course meal with Vermont coffee in a room with a view of the patio and gardens.

It was poring rain all weekend…read moreand I soaked in the greenhouse hot tub the evening I arrived, then spent the next day curled up on a cozy couch in front of the soapstone wood stove. I enjoyed it so much that I booked the entire B & B suite for a weekend to come back with the family. The suite is three bedrooms and very affordable for a weekend get-a-way. The back wing of this old farmhouse is half cozy living room/kitchen and half modernized greenhouse. Downstairs in the updated section is a wonderful bathroom with large jacuzzi tub and walk in shower with three (yes, 3) shower heads - though the switching valve only let's you run two at a time. Plus the radiant floor tiles makes me want to just lie in the sun along with Phoenix the resident friendly cat. Upstairs are three cozy bedrooms with wonderful Vermont landscape views and lot's of books for browsing. Outside there are pastures and trails, a big old barn, sheep and a llama. When we were there in the fall the llama was just wandering around the yard as it had been fighting with the ram, so Jay just let it out to get a little breathing room. So I woke up in the morning and watched the llama on patrol around the house. Jay and Jude, like so many B & B owners (a special breed) are friendly and entertaining. They are anxious to be helpful and quick to recommend good restaurants, places to hike, and other things to do. And the breakfasts, ahh, the breakfasts... You have to stay at least two nights just so that you can get more of their good food. fresh fruit cup, maple smoked bacon, maple walnut scones, asparagus soufflé, baked apples with maple syrup, blueberry muffins, light and fluffy waffles ... I went to bed each night excited to wake up and smell whatever was cooking. None of the rooms have a private bath, but renting the whole space makes that happen. No cellular phone service (well sometimes one bar) but good wifi. Close to hiking, X country skiing, and snowmobile trails. Close to Montpelier. A couple of really nice restaurants in the area: Claire's, Positive Pie, Rainbow Sweets.
