We just pulled out of the campground and are already thinking about next years trip! great campground with friendly staff, and a nicely appointed camp store. Our full hook up site was easy to get into and level. The outdoor showers were clean and well kept. They have a great area for kids and they also have a community campfire nightly. The free public transit has a stop right at the entrance to the campground and is easy to use to get anywhere. Everything is easily accessible from the campground. read more

We had a great time camping in a single room cabin over a rainy Memorial Day weekend. Ali, Lyle, Mike and Gabe were super friendly and helpful getting us situated and supplied. Even in the rain we hiked and walked the beaches. When it was sunny we rented bikes from the camp and toured the island. The free busses to and from the main towns are amazing and easy to navigate and use. The stop is right at the campground. Would highly recommend the campground it was clean and easy to get around. 10/10 read more

This was my first camping experience and this is an amazing camping ground. The check-in was smooth, despite we arrived so late at night but they called up before their closing hours and explained the check-in process. The location is ideal and nicely located in the island. The bathrooms are cleaned regularly and is maintained neatly. The staff here is super friendly. Their response time to any service request is pretty quick too. They had fun events over the weekend. They had a DJ party on one day which was so cool and fun! The common area is so nicely decorated with string lights giving it a cozy feeling. They also have community fire pit, so a fun way to interact with the other campers! read more

Fun, clean and comfortable campground in beautiful Martha's Vineyard. My family spent a week at the 6 person cabin in Vineyard Haven. Staff was very friendly and camp store was convenient. My kids and adults participated in candy bingo, music bingo and karaoke. Lots of laughs and fun. The field was well maintained and balls were provided for basketball and soccer etc. Outside showers and inside bathrooms were clean. We enjoyed the large fire pit and chairs that were started nightly for all guests . We also had our own fire pits at the cabin which we enjoyed. There is a fridge and freezer inside the cabin and a gas grill with a side burner which was convenient. We brought pans and could make mac n cheese etc. We brought our car which was helpful in that we visited the 3 major cities and also the cliffs on the west part of the island. There is a bus stop on the road of the campsite. Downtown Vineyard haven was only 5 minutes away. We had no problem with quiet hours at 10 pm or fire pit out by 11 pm. The cabins are close to each other and I would have preferred more privacy but they are positioned so that your table and fire pit does have some privacy. I would have loved to have brought my dog but they are only allowed off season . We would come back in the future and enjoyed our stay. read more

They were very accommodating, helped us find out campsite and even set up our tent as it was raining when we arrived, we were drenched, had no car, and there was a raging thunderstorm. The planned activities were so fun, all the staff was so nice and kind, and the place was pretty, cozy, and felt safe. When you had questions, they explained everything, and went above and beyond to make sure you had a good stay. Our bike tire exploded when renting bikes from them, and the owners were nice enough to pick it up and reimburse us for the trouble. It was more than enough, and I can't reccomend it enough. Stayed here for the entire week August 1 2020. We have camped in many spots across the country and can say this is by far our favorite campground. While not on the water, the central location allows travel to every spot on the island. It's also a few miles away from VH for a quick bite. Wifi worked flawless (we were next to a cell tower in J3) and had full wifi the entire time. Saturday night featured live music. When we checked in there were ashes from the night before's fire. Maintenance came over and cleaned the ENTIRE camp site while apologizing and even adding a beach tip that we used the next day that was a really good suggestion. There's a store here with everything you could ever need while camping at reasonable prices. Outdoor showers are perfect after a long day at the beach. We are already planning a two-week stay here next year, loved it that much. read more

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!! I will definitely stay here again and again and again. For $50 each for the weekend, 6 friends split a two room cozy cabin and had a blast. The cabin was neat and clean and came with an outlet, picnic table outside, a couple of chairs, a fire pit and a super nice gas barbecue. I felt like I was spoiled! There are communal bathrooms with four showers and 6 sinks and they were a quick walk from the cabins. There's a field and playgrounds for wee ones to play. What was also key for my crew was that the bus stopped right outside the campground. There is also a little store to buy firewood and supplies. It was everything we needed and everything we were looking for in a no fuss Martha's Vineyard get away. I loved every minute. read more

When we first found MVFC we were extremely wary of the price. We've camped across the United States and New Zealand, and, at $59 a night, this is the most we've ever spent on a campground (including deluxe sites in Queenstown, NZ that had other amenities included). Four stars because, without a car (at the back of the site), it's definitely overpriced. To add value, the campfires could have metal grills, the speed bumps could have reflective light for night biking, and there could be motion lights on the driveway leading up to the office - easy to see in car lights, not at all with just a bike. Having a price difference for vehicles or non-vehicle camping would make sense. We came bike camping here for a week at the end of the summer. The sites are set in pine, scrub oak and low bush blueberry. Beautiful and idyllic, not too loud. We were biking without a car (and strongly suggest it! The traffic can easily be avoided with a bike and the bus pass, which is on time and efficient, servicing the entire island!) so we had spots at the far end of the campground in the Q sites. These sites are great, secluded and well tended. They are a far walk from the restrooms. There are only four non-vehicle sites. The restrooms were clean, the store well stocked and the people we interacted with in the store were kind and courteous! read more

This was our first stay at the campgrounds, and we thoroughly enjoyed our 2-room cabin! The cabins are well-equipped with plenty of windows with screens, a screen door, firm mattresses, electricity, a small fridge/freezer combo, fans if you need them, plus 2 plastic chairs and a small side table. There was a ceiling light in each of the rooms, but we brought a battery powered lantern for reading (recommended). There was a sweet covered porch that was great for shade or raincover. Each site also has a fire ring, picnic table, gas grill with side burner, and a water spigot nearby. We chose the cabin in case we had a rainy Fall weekend, but the weather ended up being perfect for us. The staff was so friendly, welcoming and helpful (and also very quickly to answer emails as we planned our trip). The entire grounds were lovely and clean (bathrooms especially). We did see 2 skunks one night, but that's to be expected and they ran away quickly. One great feature (amongst many) is that they have a small store that stocks a variety of items including firewood, Jiffy Pop and the local newspapers. The campground is very close to Vineyard Haven and conveniently located to get to other points around the island by car, bus or bike. We expected "shoulder season" crowds but it was amazingly quiet. We will definitely come back next year and hope to stay longer next time! read more

When we arrived it was later at night so we were already exhausted from driving so long and from the ferry when we went to check in the front desk lady handed the id back and said "I'm really bad at math, how old are you?" So that experience was already weird than the manager with the curly short hair was extremely rude and didn't want to let us in and just because we're younger she felt the need to let us know that this is not a "party place". I felt like I was in summer camps because of all the rules, I understand that it's a family camp but no fire after 11 and no music after 10 we also had to be in our tents by 12 which is ridiculous. Truthfully this campground is awful and only have customers because it's the only campground on the island. All the workers are rude and the showers and bathrooms were disgusting. I would rather just sleep in the woods next time. read more

Place thinks there the cops. they have so many rules just about lights and fires it's unreal, i asked for one scoop of ice for my water when they have a huge machine the day i was leaving and was told i have to buy an entire bag. they go around on golf carts patrolling the site like your kids. makes you feel like you're being watched over like your back in school. everything is overpriced in the store. also pretty much every single worker, especially the management, were extremely rude to everyone in my camp. our porter potties we're also disgusting 3/5 days we were there. would never recommend this place to anyone ever read more

Camping on Martha's Vineyard was a bucket list dream. When you hear people say "the island is a really special place", it's true! Martha's Vineyard is one of the coolest and most peaceful place I have ever been. I have a 27' Airstream camper that I towed from Houston, TX to the Vineyard. I really didn't think it was possible, but it is true, you CAN camp on Martha's Vineyard. You have to plan in advance because you have to purchase a ferry pass for you and your camper. It's not difficult at all to take the camper on the ferry. (*It is a little expensive, but it's worth the effort so you can have a car on the island.) The family that runs the campground are so very kind. They work hard and run a great vacation destination. While I was camping on the island, I had to get IV medications delivered to me. The people in the office would sign for my UPS package and then bring it to my door. I also feel ill while on vacation and had to be taken off the island via helicopter to The Mass General. That's another thing that makes this a great place to visit. The hospital here on the island and the doctors are affiliated with The Mass General. So if they can't fix you up in the ER of Martha's Vineyard, they can quickly get you to Boston for medical care at one of the best hospitals in the world. When I had to be taken off the island to go to the hospital, the hospital staff and the campground staff all pitched in to take care of my dog and camper while I was in the hospital. This island offers a sense of home and family. This is very important to know if you enjoy traveling but have some medical condition that may need urgent care. Truly there is no other place in the world like Martha's Vineyard!!! They even let my dog come and see me while I was in the hospital. Is that amazing or what?!!! I would advise people who are going to camp on the island or just visit, there are a lot of ticks on Martha's Vineyard. It's imperative that you put tick repellent on you, your children and your pets. People don't think about ticks being on the beach but there are a lot of ticks on the beach from the birds. There is an organic tick repellent for sale in the campground office that you can use for kids and dogs. I make my own repellent with lavender oil and spearmint oil and spray it on my skin and clothes and it does work. Don't let your dogs walk around in the brush and be sure to check for ticks every night. read more

I am 28 years old and can not afford to stay at a fancy hotel on the Vineyard. Generally I crash at a friends or go in the off season (September is my fave!). However this summer my aunt had a 65th bday party smack dab on Obama week. I waited to the last minute and thought I may be unable to find a place to stay. Then someone mentioned the campground. I bought an 8 man tent on Amazon.com for about $120 which seems like it will last for many years to come and spent about $100 for two nights of camping with AC power and water right on the site! Our blowup mattress and two other friends who joined us made the whole experience seem like a no-brainer after the fact. I will say the name is no joke. This is a family campground. No late night drinking and early mornings with all the kids screaming at the playground. BUT all in all its the best option for last minute travel to the Vineyard during peak season or possibly other times (haven't tried that yet). Oh ya the outdoor showers are clean and warm (~90 degrees) which is a huge bonus. We spent a total of about 12 hours here. All from 2AM - 8AM and it was well worth it. read more

So I am prob not the average person who stays here. This place is loaded with families and a few random people and couples without kids. Myself and a few dozen others were there this weekend for the live music at 2001's Beach Road Weekend. First off, it's great that there is any campground in MV! This is not a cheap place to stay and if I had to just go out for the day to see music, it just wouldn't have been worthwhile for me...but when friends said they had a site (and all told I think people there for the music had over a dozen sites-just out of the ones I knew...I was "in"...but I did hear some stories of just how harsh they could be here about noise and fires, etc. After spending 3 days here, I will say, this campground is amazing and they weren't too harsh. They did poor water on our fire at just past 11pm one night (I get it...it encourages people to go to bed)...and on Sunday night they came and told us to end it and be quiet (everyone had come to our site because we were kind of central)...but as a small business owner-I get it-they can't have it if they are trying to keep families happy. Also, this place is kept very clean, including the bathrooms and portos (the later which were serviced multiple times a day which is HUGE!!!). Like others have said, stuff in the store was reasonable ($4 for a 8lb bag of ice is reasonable for an island) and in general this is a place I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others. Next time I come back will just be for the island and prob not for a weekend of music so it will def be a different vibe and if they will have me, I will def be back! read more

Great place overall. Tent spaces are big enough and have trees for medium privacy. They are away from the RV sites which makes you feel more rustic. Bathrooms could use some cleaning - in the mornings they are fine, but i suspect they are only cleaned once a day and there is a lot of foot traffic through there. Outdoor shower rooms are great - warm water, place inside to keep things dry and to change. Skylight inside them too. Right on the bus line (the #1 from vineyard haven ferry terminal), lets you off right there. The camp store is rocking - i was thinking a few items but this place rocks - it's like a conveince store - milk, butter, eggs, bacon, sodas, snacks, candy, treats, picnic items, kids toys (stuffed animals, frisbees, balls), firewood. They even have a breakfast stattion where you can use their toaster, make coffee. Firewood $6 a bundle. Ice bags. I was super impressed. Really my only complaint is the fire rings. They have been around the block so much that the grill plate/bar has melted away so you can't stabilize a pan/pot over the fire. I hate camping stoves - that's cheating. But if the ring is cool enough, some are mobile and you can swtich it out for your campsite. I wish they would spend $20 and just weld some new bars in to the rings. Makes it really hard to cook. Not a lot of bugs. Stayed 3 days in August and came home with no bites. Usually they love me. We would definitely stay again. read more

This was the second year that me, my husband, and our now five-year-old stayed in the two room cabin. We usually tent camp, so the cabin amenities like box fans, refrigerators, trash cans, and a mirror are a treat that make the week go smoother. Cabins and grounds are clean, and the playground, game room, and laundry room are perfect if you're traveling with kids. But what really put this year's visit over the top is the addition of Laura, the new activities director. Every afternoon, she ran a different craft for the kids, and every evening she had planned a family-friendly activity (karaoke, candy bar bingo, trivia, movies). These events brought people together in a way that made the campground more vibrant and evoked a different and more laid-back era when entertainment wasn't all about phones and tablets. A group of us went to the Vineyard for a biking/camping trip. We grabbed a taxi van once we got off the ferry and loaded all our gear, one person and their bike into the van which drove 2 miles to the campground while the rest of us biked there. The cab was $8 plus a very generous tip and still cost us next to nothing once we split the cost. I love the campground. It is immaculate, the bathrooms are always super clean. Our group stayed in both cabins and tents - all sites are spotless. The cabins have a mini fridge, electricity, fan, a gas grill, fire pit, picnic table and lots of beds (4 people allowed in 1 room cabin, 6 people allowed in 2 room cabin). The 2 room cabin is about the same size as the 1 room, maybe a little bigger, with a wall in the middle All showers are free! There are outdoor showers I enjoy using, but you have to push a button which is supposed to give you a 3+ minute shower, but it only lasted up to 30 seconds so there was lots of button pushing to keep the water flowing. One shower had water at a perfect temperature, a different one had water that was so hot, I couldn't stand under it. The indoor showers are small but do not bother me and my shower was enjoyable with water at a great temp. I was told by one of the guys his water went from hot to cold to hot during his entire shower. There are a lot of skunks that you can't scare away for long. Once we realized they are friendly and won't likely spray, we were okay with them and even talked to them like they were our domesticated pets. The on-site store has pretty much anything you need, including coffee, tea and snacks for a small fee. Much of the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. If you get caught breaking any of the rules, you will most likely get a very stern talking to (don't cut across any sites, even rows of empty ones!) I would most definitely recommend this camp ground. read more

Such a nice way to visit the island. We spent several days on MV and spent almost nothing ( besides long days on various gorgeous beaches ). Campground has a cute international staff, super hot indoor and outdoor showers, and enough room to not know your neighbors. Some sites were stacked on top of each other, or bordered the playground or the main entrance. Ours was happily secluded. It definitely pays to get advise from the staff on what site to book. Their little store has everything you forgot and I wish I were there right now picking up postcards and firewood. read more

The biggest cost was the ferry ride over which was $370, once we arrived at the site it was well worth it. The area was quiet and removed from all the noise, the site was quiet and clean. The area is very shaded with lots of trees and minimum mosquitoes but lots of beetles which was a turn off. What we love about the Island is that it's flat and very bike friendly, we're coming back. read more

I spent three nights camping here over the 4th of July weekend and had a spectacular time! The campground is clean, other campers were respectful of the quiet time, the outdoor showers are fantastic! The store had everything we wanted including milk for coffee and pancake mix. The bus stop is at the campground gate and makes getting everywhere a cinch. I've been using this place for 5 seasons and this has been the best year yet! The new manager/owners have really turned this place around! Michael and Allison are completely professional, unlike the last manager, who's name was Dan. These new people actually care about your stay and don't come to your site trying to find things to make us feel uncomfortable about, like Dan always did. It just seemed like he hated everyone from someplace else. The new team is polite and considerate and I'd recommend this place now to ANYONE!! The campsites are well maintained and kept clean. They can take big rigs and tenters and everything in between. Prices are reasonable and the other campers are friendly and helpful. I'll be back next year! read more

Campground was centrally located and an easy bike ride into vineyard haven. Camp store was awesome, they had everything there you could possibly need and even stayed open late one night when I got back from a Sharks baseball game after closing. Two complaints were that the sites were unusually small and there was no enforcement of quiet hours. Site two down from mine (which was probably 30 feet away) was drunk and rowdy until about 12:30pm when I had to deal with them directly. read more

I have been here in 2014 and did not got chance to visit them again. Very friendly staff and clean campground. Washrooms are good as well. We got a bag of coal for free as we forgot to bring ours and they had some bag left from previous campers. It was very helpful. Do visit them. It is good place to be. read more

A truly special place on an already special island. We stayed from opening in May, until the end of July. Staying here absolutely made our stay on Martha's Vineyard better. There is no better place to enjoy all the natural beauty that this island has to offer. The campground is one of the most idyllic you could imagine. There are many many mature trees offering the most beautiful speckled shade and sunlight throughout the day, perfect for lounging in a hammock or other choice of seating. We stayed in a 32' travel trailer and our site was spacious and clean. There are sites to accommodate even the big rigs out there. The owners and staff could not have been more helpful. The camp store is small, but has all your essentials, even some groceries if you forgot to stock up before arriving, or want to save yourself a trip to the store on island. The campground has clean and well cared for facilities, plenty of warm showers, and you can even use an outdoor shower during the summer! Don't miss this spot if you are looking to come experience Martha's Vineyard. A great central location to explore the island, and trails letting you explore the less worn paths, right out your back door. Ok, I know it's the wilderness and all...I have been camping for a few decades, but....the skunk thing is out of control there!! One night , after 4 or 5 times of having a skunk sniffing next to my head,bumping into my back- I was trapped in my tent!! I had to go use the restroom but was too scared to leave the tent! Then when I finally did venture out, there were a few skunks loitering around the building...yuck! The bathrooms were always very clean, the showers were FREE!! THat was amazing and great! The camp store was well stocked and the prices very reasonable- no gouging there. Great stay- minus the skunks!! read more

We just spent 5 nights here, and would probably stay here again. If this was just about the facilities, well, they were excellent, and would get 5 stars. It's a campground of course, but it's one of the cleanest and well maintained campgrounds at which I've ever stayed. We did the cabins - and they were cozy, neat, clean (not even a spider web or stray leaves in the corner), brand-new feeling, really. Our site came with a gas grill - and even had tongs, a firestarter, and a grill basket. These cabins were pricey ($150 for a 2 bedroom unit) - but with a large enough crew it seems as economical as any other lodging option. Common facilities were also in great shape. The restrooms were tidy throughout the day, and the "outdoor" showers were spacious with plenty of warm water. The playground for toddlers was spacious and well maintained. They even had a soccer/ball/lacrosse field, basketball hoop, and bike rentals for the older kids. All this order comes at a price though. It seems the same neat-and-clean gene that drives the maintenance crew to keep the place in such great shape also compels them to enforce some petty campground bureaucracy. We had 3 sites together - and got yelled at for having 4 cars total among them, though there was plenty of room for them, and in fact they were all very much out of everyone's way. Another adult got reprimanded for pulling her car too far forward (for some reason we never could understand). The kids got yelled at for a number of petty little things - like pulling a handcart too fast. Now I could understand if they were clamping down on some drunk-and-disorderly bubbas - but our crew of 6 adults and a 9 kids consumed less than a 12 pack total over 5 days, and were typically in bed by 9:30 ... hardly a threat to the family camping atmosphere. But clearly, the petty stuff wasn't just aimed at us. Signs all over the campground reminded everyone that fires must absolutely be out at 11PM sharp (?what?). Many nights I'd walk to the restroom or showers and the staff had literally taken up positions in their golf carts around the common areas, so they could lecture people for various offenses. So was it bad enough to keep us from returning? Probably not. But it did turn a potential 5 star experience into a 3 star one. read more

We booked a campsite here because it's the most affordable way to visit Martha's Vineyard for more than a day. There are so many good things to say, it's hard to know where to start. We were pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. The manager, Ali, is a lovely young woman who was very helpful. (She clearly read the past negative reviews, and is making changes to address complaints.) First, before we even booked the site, she advised us to make sure that we could get a ferry reservation for the car. We had no idea that would be difficult, so we really appreciate her advice. We would not have thought of that until it was too late! The other employees there were very friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them and getting the scoop on the island! There was only one other family tent camping, so we didn't experience a full campground. Our site was certainly big enough for all of our stuff (we don't really rough it!) And we loved having water and electricity at the site for no extra charge. The showers in the main building are a little tight, but that is to be expected in an older building, and they were sparkling clean! We rented their new bikes for a day, they were comfortable and the cost was reasonable. And it turned out that we could get to pretty much anywhere on the island via the MV Shuttles, which have a stop right at the campground entrance! So, we only needed a car to bring our stuff! We are definitely returning for camping, and will have to figure out how to bring our gear without a car! We are looking forward to returning! read more

We stay here frequently because of the cleanliness, location, and peaceful surroundings. I have never found a cleaner campground with more to offer any place on the east coast. Managment deserves a congratulations on creating the ultimate vineyard experience. read more

First off for the good : the camp ground and facilities are nice and price appropriate. Nice alternative to an expensive hotel. (Not the reason for 2 stars) Now for bad/truth : the manager (self proclaimed owner) is the rudest most unpleasant man my family has ever met. And this is from more than one experience. My wife and I came alone the first time for ONE night to check it out, were told we had to book a 3 night minimum if we wanted to stay because they were "nearly booked up", whatever fine. But when we arrived here to drop our stuff off and left to enjoy our day it was nearly empty.... came back at 1130 at night and immediately went to bed... still empty and woke up to leave the next morning.... still empty. When we asked the manager he immediately got nasty and told us there's a 3 night policy for "hooligans" like us and proceeded to belittle us. After a much unnecessary confrontation he credited two night for future camping... fine we'll give it a second shot. The second time we came back and had a worse experience with the same man. While trolling the grounds in his golf cart we were yelled at for parking in a completely vacant spot, yelled at for a bicycle touching the "vegetation" and when we asked him about the skunk infestation ( dozens of skunks that have no problem walking under your feet while you sit on your site) he rudely jumped right to blaming our children for "probably leaving their candy everywhere". This is only speaking for my family, never mind hearing him tear apart our neighbors kids and belittle an Indian man for his accent, but that's for someone else's review. Nonetheless would I stay here again? Possibly but it would be a last resort. Very bad experiences with the rude manager. ***Don't confuse the A hole manager with the other staff, the girls that run the desk are great, but are clearly under his reign of dictatorship. read more

The best camping experience we've had. They allowed us to switch camp spots based on crowding to something more secluded. Most campsites offer working electrical outlets and a nice campfire ring. Their facilities are clean and they have inexpensive firewood. Would return as soon as I can book another trip out to Martha's Vineyard! read more

Clean, quiet campground reasonably close to Vineyard Haven, We bike-camp here and have gotten small sites, although that just may be my bad luck. Decent size store, some strict rules regarding check in time and fire-out time. But they let you store your stuff in the laundry room before check in and after check-out so you can make your first and last day a full day rather than lugging your stuff around. A short bike ride to town for meals, or take the bus-it stops right in front of the campground. They also have a no-motorcycle rule. A lot of skunk sightings, but they don't seem to cause a problem. The bathroom was clean, although there is only one, so you might have a walk. Not only would I stay there again, I have gone every year for the last 4 years. They also rent bikes for those who did not bring their own. Overall, at 50 bucks it's a little pricey for a tent site, but it's the only way to do the vineyard on a budget. read more

Martha's Vineyard Family Campground - Campgrounds Near Me - Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts

This is one of the cleanest and most well run campgrounds I have been to. We stayed here August 2013. The staff was helpful and eager to give a recommendation to just about anything you asked them about (Thanks for the tip about Back Door Donuts they were AMAZING) The owner runs a tight ship but as a military family we really appreciate this and respect that it is what is needed to keep a campground as nice as this one. If you are a courteous camper you will run into no issues with the staff. The resident skunks are very bold but if you take your trash nightly to the dumpster they were not an issue at your campsite. The campground is very conveniently located to get to either Oaks Bluff or Vineyard Haven in just a few minutes and the bus stops right at the front entrance to the campground. We loved our stay so much we put in a request for August 2014 to come back. I think we have found a new family summer tradition. read more
