Woke up Sunday morning to do laundry. When I went into basement the carbon monoxide detector was alerting. I turned off the boilers and called Martin-Aire this morning. Brian was out this afternoon and cleaned out the chimney and the 2 boilers. He was here for maybe a hour. Wam, bam, thank you sir. Thank goodness for the awesome folks at Martin-Aire in Berwyn for comnig out within an hour when I woke up to discover my a/c wasn't working this morning on what will probably be the hottest day of the summer. Marty's guys were polite, not-condescending (which, as a woman I feel is a HUGE thing), professional, and fast. No trying to scam or up-sell me on anything that I didn't need. I went in assuming worst-case scenario (whole new a/c) and was more than happily surprised when the issue was with just a couple (very old) fuses. They even checked the coolant to make sure all was good before they left. A total of 90 minutes from the time I called to having cool air coming back into my house again. I could not have asked for better, more reliable service. this is how a business builds trust and loyalty with customers; something that is so easy to do, but so many other businesses miss the the mark. The only good experience was that they came when they said they would, other than that no way. I paid 136 for a service call, $45 for a cleaning and $130 for freon and my system is still blowing cool air and I am out of $311. What a a shame. Can't say I would recommend them. read more

I just want to give a shoutout to Marty, the owner. I'd called to schedule seasonal maintenance on my AC system before summer hit. They were busy all week, but he wrote down my number and said he'd call me back the following week. From my general experience, "I'll call you next week" means you're pushed to the bottom of the list and they never call you back. But I got a call from Marty about a week later as promised, and a tech arrived within 30 minutes and completed the work quickly. I called Martin-Aire because my furnace wasn't hitting the temperature that was set on the thermometer. I called at 8 AM and Brian and Matt we're here by 10. It was a complicated issue-- there were three different problems that took two visits to resolve. But Brian and Matt were very thorough, polite, and made sure that my furnace was heating my home properly on this bitterly cold day. Many moons ago, the day after Thanksgiving shortly after we had moved into our house, our furnace would not shut off. We called many places who either weren't open or very noncommittal about actually showing up that day... or even that weekend. We called Martin-Aire and they were there in less than 30 minutes.... the problem was fixed, and they've been our HVAC guys ever since. (I should disclose that since that fateful day, I've become friends with the owners and their family. I know this is sorta against the rules and some people in Berwyn will get bent out of shape about it... But that doesn't change the fact that they have done great work for us over the years.) Water boiler died on a November Sunday, searched online for businesses and saw a good review from these guys, made the call and I think they called back Sunday night but I wasn't available. So I called Monday at 8am and they had Brian over in about 30mins, determined that the boiler was indeed dead. Had price quoted and decided to go with them. The next hour Brian came back with Marty (the boss) and both of them spent about 3 hours removing and installing the boiler. After all said and done, a new boiler is born. I was pleased with their service and they seemed genuine people with great attitude. Recommended!! read more

Was referred to Marty at Martin-Aire by another competitor (Ernie at Ascot Systems) who couldn't come out due to a cold snap here in Chicagoland. (Thank you Ernie!) Marty set up Brian and Tony to come in the next day. They diagnosed the problem quickly but didn't have that part on their truck, so went to a local HVAC parts distributor, and had us up and heating before noon. Doesn't look like they charged me for the time spent getting that part. Brian was very patient with me as I asked a lot of questions about furnaces and the business and other HVAC repair contractors in the area. Hint from our discussions: If you want faster repairs, choose a contractor that specializes on the same brand as your furnace. They may have the parts on the truck. read more

Currently 16 below zero with a wind chill of -36. Called to see why my brand new furnace isn't keeping the house warmer than 63 degrees on the first floor. The gentleman who answered the call took the time to explain that in this weather the furnace just can't keep up with the outside temperatures. It's apparently "trying" but that "they're just not built for these temperatures". I appreciate the good advice and assurances. Guess we'll just have to wait until the temp goes up a bit. Our furnace stopped blowing hot air overnight and our usual repair guy didn't get back to me right away so I gave Martin-Aire a call based on the recommendation of some neighbors. I'm so glad I did! Ryan and Brian came out the same day I called - exactly at the time I was told to expect them - and were very polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. They were able to fix the problem and were happy to answer all my questions. MAN! Let me tell you, these guys were honest, efficient and just plain nice. So my heater stopped blowing hot air at like 9 PM. I gave them a call and Martin called back like 10 minutes later. We decided that he should come in the morning the next day. He comes in and luck would have that my water heater dies too. So all in all he offers to fix both for what was a REALLY reasonable price (while he got parts I looked up prices). Man, they fixed everything in like 3 hours. New heater sensor, new water boiler, install, hauling and viola, it all worked like magic! I was super happy at how smooth it went. There even was an incident where I forgot to tell them there was a leak, water got everywhere and his boys STILL offered to mop it up. I really like them. I contacted Martin-Aire because they installed the furnace for the previous owners of my property. I was prompted to contact them after reading their yelp reviews. I was able to get an appointment right away. Ryan & Brian showed up early, introduced themselves and got to work on the routine cleaning of my furnace before the winter season. They finished working within 45 minutes. My furnace flame sensor is now clean and operating properly (it was dirty and shutting my unit down as a safety). They also showed me how to operate the humidifier, which I never used prior. I recommend Martin-Aire for your yearly furnace maintenance. read more

They installed my A/c in my older radiator heat home. I have experienced several problems over the years and they have completely given up trying to help me. The owner, Marty, told me to take my business elsewhere. Apparently he doesn't think any criticism is acceptable, despite the fact that my system has experienced many problems.
