In follow up to my review, Fabio came through to address the drainage issue, installing a channel drain to replace the existing one. While I was only asking for the driveway drainage issue to be addressed, his crew fixed several other items over a two day period (damaged stucco, drainage pit for mini split unit to name a few). While the new drainage looks promising, I won't really be able to adequately review until the rains start. However, at this point I am very happy with the outcome. Taynara Melo, project manager on my project, and her crew, no longer work for Martin Pavers. Taynara and her husband Fernando Moreira have started their own company based in Concord. Anyone reading this review and looking at/deciding on a potential paver company for a project should be very careful of Elite Pavers. Had my initial interactions with Martin Pavers been only with Taynara, I would not have moved forward with this project. Her lack of knowledge, experience and general poor work ethic would have had me looking elsewhere. However, I have no further issues with Fabio and Martin Pavers. read more

Go for other contractors! Hope you won't experience my pain I'd got a nice quote with them 4 years ago. There are lots lots of problems with the works they did. The drainage was not working, I had to call them back to redo for 3 times (while it's really hard to get them back). The retaining wall was built totally wrong ! Even I as someone knows nothing about paver noticed they just put the bricks together and did not do anything at the back, I questioned while they were doing it that there should be drainage and on the back there should be some treatment, but Luis said that was the way they build. After 1st raining season, the water, mud came all from the retaining wall and they look really terrible, the mud and water stayed on my backyard pavers since the spot drainage can not catch them! I'm working with other contracts this year to fix the retain wall Martin Pavers did, and surprised to see it (Martin Paver) is still in the market !! Bad experience with Fabio at Martin Pavers. He did not get the permits for the drywell and our project failed inspection. He promised us he would do the alterations that the city requested. He never returned our calls nor responded to our letters. Do not use him. He cost us an additional 8K by the time we had to hire someone to dig a giant hole in our front yard, fill it with rocks and special fabric. The materials and labor was 8K. Do not use this guy. I would absolutely never recommend Martin Pavers to anyone. We hired them for paver installation for a large driveway. That also involved installing 3 dry wells for water drainage. When finished, I pointed out a small area that they did not install the pavers since they ran out of the pavers. They promised they will get the remaining 12-15 pavers and finish that area. Trusting them I made the whole payment. Since then I kept calling them to complete the job but they have never answered my calls. In addition we have huge drainage issues. All the dry wells did not work as planned and the drive way is flooded with water. More than a year has gone by with repeated calls to Fabio and no response. I would absolutely not recommend Martin Pavers for artificial turf installation or paver installation. I have filed two separate complaints with the CSLB regarding the poor workmanship and failure to honor the contractor's 20 Year warranty. My turf has multiple sections from different lots and way laid in different directions. As a result, my turf looks like a patchwork of several pieces and colors. After multiple failed attempts to contact the owners, they were unwilling to resolve the issue. The company has no experience with proper drainage or how to slope a walkway or driveway correctly to discharge water toward the street. You cannot just direct all the water "into the plants" because the soil.can only absorb so much moisture. You need experience with drainage and Fabio and the Martin Pavers team do not have it nor do they stand by their "warranty". read more

Utterly poor customer service. They don't finish what was started. Been calling and the person answering always has a reason "person was on vacation" "person was sick" "person will be back in 3 weeks". Learn from my experience. Hired a local company that was recommended by Site 1 Landscaping supply in San Rafael for a medium backyard paver job at our house in Marinwood. They started out ok, but it became apparent they were getting lost with drain angles, paver alignment, edging, etc. turns out there is a LOT to consider when laying pavers. Had to pay them for partial work and look for another contractor. No one wanted to come in and fix someone else's work, but Fabio from Martin Pavers came by to take a look. He listened us, agree, or gave us better idea and explained why. Price was very competitive too. I just read Renato's response. Didn't realize he sent a response. He made the patio bigger than I wanted and was $5,000 off his estimate! Not even close!!! Drainage was written on the contract so he didn't give me anything. The patio flooded on the FIRST rainstorm because they didn't put ANY drains in the patio. They ripped up most of the patio and put drainage in and it still floods! I had to spend thousands to get it fixed. I could go on but I won't. His biz partner is rough and threatening.
