About a week before leaving for the holidays, we called Lissette and she happily agreed to watch our two cats. A few days into our trip, something came up that made us extend. No problem, a quick text to Lissette and she assured us that all is taken care of. Our cats even ran out of food during the trip. Instead of having to order a bag online and have it shipped, Lissette went to the exact pet store we fequent and get the exact same bag of food we feed our cats. One thing I really liked about her services, beside the crazy affordable rate, was that she requested payment at the end of the service. She wanted to make sure we were happy with her feeding, litter clean-up, etc. Additonally, my cats are very shy. I warned her that she may not see either of them for a few days. Well, 2 days into her stopping over, both I received a photo of both cats cuddling up to Lissette! Oh, and she offers to take in your mail, newspaper, and any other normal house sitting services that I did not expect from a pet sitter!

Ferdinand is a rescue dog, who was shy and scared of loud noises when we got him. He's now over 2 years old, a playful little dog, ready to walk (most of the time) and to have fun with other dogs. As much as I'd like to take credit for his progress, I think Phyllis have much more to do with it. Phyllis is a great dog walker. She never stopped working during the Pandemic, always mindful to tend to her pet friends while protecting herself and families. Making sure Ferdie had his daily walk with her was a life saver in the middle of homeschooling and remote working. Phyllis' love for animals is obvious. She helped us get Ferdie ready to walk with other dogs, always leaves detailed feedback if Ferdie is more anxious than usual. She also was a great support as we welcomed our third son back home last year, advising us on how to behave with Ferdie, and sharing some very helpful kid friendly videos for my two older kids so they learn to play safely with Ferdie. Ferdie is now very well adjusted to our family, and us to him. We feel very fortunate to have found Pooch and Kitty to help us transition from a family with two children and no pets, to a family of three children and a dog.

My story starts with trying to find a cat sitter as I was travelling more a few times a year (domestic and foreign - as far as New Zealand), and my new cat (Sweet Pea, a Manx breed shelter cat) needed a friendly face every day while away. I tried a couple of services, but had very unprofessional experiences that made my home feel unsafe. Had to change the locks on the 2nd one- so weird. So now, on to the good news. I found Pooch and Kitty. The owner, Phyllis Klein is caring and highly professional. The intro is professional, chill, and started with an opportunity for the potential sitter to meet you and your pet, so that both parties are comfortable, and gave me the moment to communicate any building rules. Great. I have felt so happy and safe with the 2 sitters I had over the years. Thank you Serra, and most importantly, thank you Bonnie. Bonnie gave great daily updates (as I traveled the most during her time). Her recent observation on his eating led me to immediately decide that maybe he needs a random vet check in addition to the regular. He ultimately had lymphoma and I lost him months later. But if not for her simple observations communicated in the daily updates, I would not have noticed as quickly (the lack of separation during quarantine made it harder to notice small changes). As a result, I had more time than I would have, while treating his illness. Sweet Pea had caring friends with Pooch and Kitty. And I have all Bonnie's hilarious video updates, sometimes with silly filters which I loved! This is a great service that I recommend. They are lovely, and should be part of your pet sitting needs. It's important to us to be able to have the dogs stay at home when we're away so having someone come to the house is absolutely incredible. Lauren and her staff have always been great with our dogs and even when something hasn't 'gone well' (let's just say intestinal distress) they've been great about cleaning up and contacting us. It's also great that since they come to our house instead of boarding the dogs we kind of get a built in house sitter too-not that there's any reason to break in (besides, the dogs would love a chance to sic balls). If you're tired of boarding your dogs and live in the Morris County area I wholeheartedly recommend Canine Concierge. Your pets will be well cared for and won't be so stressed when you come home. I also didn't appreciate how the owner, Chandra, handled some situations. 1. Linda would throw out Molly's waste in my kitchen garbage. It would obviously smell and I had asked her to stop doing that. Initially, she had "liked" my iMessage, so I thought that was that. This kept happening, so I asked her AGAIN to stop doing that. Linda told me, "I'm not the one doing that, I also had meant to ask, do you have anyone else coming to walk her?" The answer is a hard no, but to suddenly "ask" me that question is to commit to her lie and to try to blame it on some ghost. I don't understand why she would do it at all, or why she kept continuing to do it when there are plenty of trash bins outside, including right on the corner. 2. This was seemingly small, but irritating because I had asked her 10+ times to stop doing this. She would send me photos of Molly, then at some random time, she would "like/love" the photo that SHE sent on iMessage, so I would get an alert. I asked her to stop doing this because it would wake me up, if I wasn't awake, and it was just overall disruptive and unnecessary. I can't have my phone on silent due to being on call for work. But she KEPT DOING THIS. I don't understand why she couldn't comply with a simple request. Even after I switched walkers, she continued to do this and I asked her to stop. She told me that she chooses to react to them because it's on her phone? Why can't she just look at them? I blocked her after that. She claimed that she wanted to let me know she was available if I needed her again, but she didn't say a word? 3. She lost my keys, not once, but twice. Each time, she would basically try to garner sympathy and talk about how upset SHE was, without being apologetic. When I asked for the keys and locks to be replaced, the owner (Chandra) had the nerve to ask me to wait a few days. This is MY SAFETY. Yeah, I doubt you'd replace anything if I had gotten robbed, or even worse, attacked in my own home, all because your irresponsible walker lost my keys and you were too cheap to replace the locks. Thankfully, someone in my building returned them. The second time, she had just left it on the counter for the doorman but never actually handed it to anyone. You would think that someone would be more careful with another person's keys, especially after what happened the first time. 4. Random last minute cancellations. I understand emergencies happen, but a two hour notice that she has to go to family court?! Unlikely. Regardless, I didn't like how this was handled. For example, I would still be charged for a walk if I cancelled at the last minute, but this clearly did not go both ways. Also, the more walks you do per week, the cheaper the walk is. However, I would pay more because I had "fewer" walks that week, due to no fault of my own. I did get some of this back, but only after calling her out. Chandra will nickel and dime you, without giving you any form of mutual respect or courtesy in return. Linda was absolutely UNHINGED. I had to ask my doormen to make sure that she doesn't gain access to my apartment, since she still walks dogs in the building. I blocked her number due to the reason above. It's been a while since Molly has been with them, but reflecting on this now after having had an amazing walker makes me realize how ridiculous it was to have stayed in that situation as long as I had.

Julian, gets so excited for his walks with Fido and Friends that it's hard to get him away from the door as he waits to be picked up! In this day and age, having faith and the utmost appreciation and love for a business that cares for your animal means so much!! Chandra gives her undivided attention to making sure all her staff is trained well, present and capable of tending to the animals. During a 12 day trip, we received pictures and updates from each visit (2x/day). Our anxious boy came out (picture proof!!) by the third visit, and was eating at each visit, which we consider a miracle. When we came home, we noticed he didn't have ANY nervous scratching. Another miracle :) We will be using them for all of our cat sitting needs moving forward - we're so glad we found them. They made sure all 4 of our cats continued to have a calm, clean, and safe environment while we were gone. We felt so at ease by getting all of those pictures and written updates - we know our cats were taken care of and happy!
