As everyone who owns cats already knows, you cannot introduce cats like this. And how did I find out? The cat was in the background of the update photo she sent on night one. I insisted on a full refund and rightfully received it, but have heard absolutely nothing from management (Ed), no apology from Anna B who "didn't know what the big deal was" and got zero responses to my two emails. Finding a new pet sitter is very stressful to me because I can't enjoy my vacation if I'm worried about my two cats the whole time. I found Katie's on Instagram a couple of years back and have had the best experience. The administrators are very responsive and friendly. They found me a sitter near my apartment and I love that he was in the neighborhood. Once done with water, feedings, and litter box duties he spent plenty of time just loving on them and playing with them. Larry, my sitter up to now, brought them treats and toys out of his own pocket, sent me updates and photos/videos with every evening visit, and always kept me apprised of how they were doing. Sally did a wonderful job taking care of our two Siberian cats for 10 consecutive visits! This was the first time we left our cats alone for that long without family and not only did Sally ensure that we had detailed updates with photos and videos but we also returned to two very calm, happy, and content cats! MIGHT AS WELL HAVE JUST GOTTEN A LITTER ROBOT AND AUTO FEEDER, AT LEAST THEY'RE RELIABLE The cat sitter we were assigned through their service added more STRESS than help while we were away. Here is what we had to deal with: -He lost our keys! Seriously, talk about "you had one job." Nobody wants to get a message on vacay from your sitter who lost your keys and now can't get in to feed your cats. We cancelled our flight and frantically searched for a way to come back sooner and immediately called our property manager to try to get him a replacement set of keys ASAP. -Before we left town, we scheduled a meeting date/time 2 WEEKS IN ADVANCE to hand off the keys. This man has the nerve to CANCEL right ON THE DAY we're scheduled to meet. We even offered to meet at/near their place for convenience. - He literally didn't do the one thing we asked: we said, "we don't care if you don't play with them, but please make sure to visually see the feral cat that hides and barely eats to make sure he's still alive and well." He texted us after a visit to to let us know that HE DIDN'T HAVE TIME to go see where he was that day. UM. We live in NYC in a 1Bx1B!! it's not a mansion sir - he's in there somewhere. If you don't have time to care for our cats and give us peace of mind while away- thennn what exactlyyyy are we paying for here? - We had a camera in the apt, he was in and out in 15m. The cat sitter I had was not at all reliable or responsible. CONS: - The cat sitter does not stay for a full 30 minutes as the contract states but leaves after 15~20 minutes (usually 15 minutes). I know this because I have a nanny cam at home - The cat sitter is seen using phone quite often (sits on my couch and text or takes a call) - The cat sitter does not follow up about the upcoming dates, deposit etc. I send them a reminder, I ask about the deposits etc. I am always chasing the cat sitter for administrative things as though I work for the cat sitter -The cat sitter talks condescendingly to my cat (I bet the cat sitter wouldn't have spoken to my cat that way in my presence) - The business owner never even checked in once to ask for my feedback - The cat sitter also helps itself with drinks in my refrigerator, forgets to close it after opening - The cat sitter never cleans the feeding area, not even a little. I come home to absolute mess (one time I left a little hand-held vacuum cleaner by the sandbox, of course, it was not used) PROS: - Always does show up and feed the cat and cleans the litter Summary: The cat sitter does the bare minimum and is irresponsible. read more

We used Katie's Kitty when we ended up in a bit of a pinch for cat care for a recent vacation. They very quickly responded to our request for care even though it was somewhat short notice. Their client onboarding process was clear and straightforward and they collected all the necessary and pertinent information in case of any emergencies. Our care provider Kazumi was wonderful. Our fur baby is a little shy and doesn't necessarily warm up to strangers. But he took to Kazumi much quicker than we would have expected and by the end of her visit she was petting him and taking his picture up close. She asked questions and got information during the meet and greet that we would not have thought to. She took notes on the feeding instructions. During care, she was very attentive, even noticed a couple of our plants were looking dry and watered them even though we hadn't asked her to. She emailed us a little update every day with pictures which put our minds at ease that our boy was in good hands during our trip. There was nothing more comforting than hearing from Teri each day- and it really allowed us to fully enjoy our trip away from NYC. It was my first time using Katie's kitty pet boarding service. I was moving out of the country and bringing my 2 cats along. When I had to vacate my apartment and moved to a hotel for few days, I had to find a place to send them for boarding. I found Katie's kitty recommended by former cat sitter - Pawfect Day. I had Julie Prince as the cat sitter and she was amazing! I was stressed and hectic with the whole packing and moving, but Julie was there to take care of my cats for 3 days before their departure. We had to depart first and leave the cat, and the cats will take a different flight later. Julie helped us with the preparation and make sure our cats are fine on the day of the departure. Julie is a true cat lover- she takes care of our fur babies just like hers. She was very passionate with her job anad very concern. She even make sure the agent that picked up our cats to the airport has all the documents since we were not there to inspect during the picked up. I am so grateful that I found Katie's Kitty on Yelp and called them up myself after moving to the Upper East Side last year. When you call, Peter answers the phone, asks for some basic information (your animal's name, your address, etc.) and then sets up a free home visit with a local pet sitter. I'm very lucky, because Carol - the pet sitter Peter introduced me to - is so thoughtful and sweet to my cat, Theda, that Theda always seems disappointed when I return home from a trip! I travel quite a lot and quite often for my job, and it's super easy for me to set up Theda's care before I go. I just call or e-mail, pay a deposit for the total cost of all the home visits required while I'm away, and leave the rest in cash for Carol to pick up on her first visit. During each visit Carol feeds Theda to my exact specifications, plays with her and brushes her, and even tidies up around the food and water bowls and litter box before I come home! I also appreciate the daily check ins Carol emails me, it definitely makes me feel confident that Theda is happy while I'm gone. I wish I could be home more often with my lovely cat, but since I have to travel so often I am glad Carol is the person I can trust to take care of my animal friend. read more

Whenever I go on a trip I actually find myself looking forward to hearing from the cat sitter--each time she visits Cloudy, Alice sends me plenty of texts, photos, and videos describing what Cloudy is doing and how she seems to be feeling. Alice is consistent with visit times and really seems to value building a relationship with her clients' pets! It's rare I find someone who is as excited to talk about my cat as I am, but I've found exactly that with Katie's Kitty. On her most recent visit Alice was even able to get my painfully shy cat to purr! She really goes above and beyond and gives me such peace of mind whenever I have to go out of town. In my opinion, this level of care is what sets Katie's Kitty apart from other pet sitting services. Not only does Alice dote on my cat and provide me with tons of updates, but she also does little considerate things like bringing up my mail or picking up a new bag of cat litter. Our 1st time leaving our Mikey in the care of someone other than family and of course we had our concerns. We scoured the neighborhood and the internet looking for someone or someplace that would take special care of our special furry one and without being in a cage the entire time in their care. We found Katie's Kitty online. They have many great reviews and because we are not in Manhattan, we were greatly surprised that they offered their services near to us. We were introduced to Ann and we spoke over the phone at great length. She, even over the phone, could tell that she has such an affinity of our furry friends, especially cats. We set up an appointment to see her and her home in person before making a commitment. It was a dark and stormy night and after walking a few blocks, sopping wet, we arrived at Ann's home. She welcomed us in as if we were long lost friends with no concern of how wet we were. We sat in her home which is simple but warm and welcoming (we feel ours is the same) and chatted for more than an hour discussing her previous visitors, her own furry ones and the such. She made us feel very comfortable and decided to set up his visit and stay. During Mikey's stay with Ann (and her visiting aunt), we received many, many updates, pictures and videos. He really made himself at home rather quickly. Ann and her aunt showered him with love and attention, gave him the full run of the house and cared for him as if he were their own. We could not ask for more. STAY AWAY if you need reliability. I paid for a sitter to come after confirming dates and availability. The sitter canceled on me without refunding my payment. I was told to contact the owner and have chased him for over a month now via email, phone, and in person. I have left emails, messages, and have been assured by the secretary that I would be contacted, but nothing has come of it. The "office" (actually just his place of residence) is said to be available, but I have been there and nobody responds. I never received my money back, and also wasted my time and energy trying to get my money back. Thankfully I was able to get a more reliable sitter elsewhere on short notice. UPDATE: the owner emailed and refunded me immediately after writing this review. This shows that he was actively ignoring me until I could do something about it. He has tried to bribe me with money to remove this review. Perhaps the reason he has a good rating on yelp is because he is bribing his bad reviewers... read more
