Called me back a little after an hour later to tell me that it's fixed! What? And they put the donut back in it's place in the trunk (which Firestone Complete Auto Care in Fairfield NJ didn't). My receipt did not show results, codes, tests performed, any misfires,etc, nothing.It simply stated the problem I told them and estimated a new engine replacement of $9,500.+.When I called, Manny confirmed I could pick up a detailed copy of the report. When I arrived, Reynold told me he didn't have the report because he accidentally deleted it, that it was human error, and that He was being honest and that He didn't even have to tell me that! In Aww, I demanded something to show my new mechanic and was provided a quote on what an estimate would be for a new engine and used one. This still didn't show what was specifically tested on my vehicle, what concluded a new engine was needed? I did not fuss with them and knew I'd immediately dispute this charge with my bank for services I paid for, but didn't receive. I WON the dispute with my bank and was credited a full return of my money for the nonsense, non-service. If you are a WOMAN, don't go in there alone! They will take advantage of you with a trustworthy smile! Don't go in there to get cheated, regardless male or female, BEWARE! And never pay with cash to avoid taxes! Had I done that I would have never had the support from my bank to recoup the funds.

What really was the straw that broke the camels back was that on my last visit they said my rotors were low and recommended a replacement (that was not cheap). I was actually pretty surprised by this as I had replaced my rotors (with them) earlier and I expected to get more miles out of them. So either: 1. they sold me poor quality rotors 2. I'm tracking my car and being aggressive on the brakes (nope...its a minivan) 3. I don't actually need rotors Turns out it was #3... I actually got the car up on jack stands after bringing it home, took off the wheels and measured the rotors with a pair of calipers. Plenty of life left.

I went there and told them I needed a new tire. The nice gentleman at the counter asked to look at it, and turns out it's superficial, tire is fine. Any other place would just replace it and try to sell me 3 more! My dad once got a crazy estimate on his car and we brought it to American auto. He didn't need half the work and the price was less than 1/3 of the quote he had gotten. I very highly recommend them. They play the long game in business and are not out for the quick buck. Hence they have the loyalty of our entire family! Again, highly recommend them!

If…read moreyou go to them and explain to them that you have had a prior diagnostic done somewhere else they won't believe you even with paper work. Your choice really is to either pay for the diagnostic or pay them for the parts and labor. You don't know what the parts and labor are going to cost and even if you can't afford it, they will still charge you for the diagnostic. I don't think I will ever use them again and don't recommend them.
