They are hounding us for a debt we don't owe. A heating company (Peak Mechanical in VT) is attempting to scam us with hundreds of dollars of charges for services and days of labor that were not rendered. The man who left a voicemail slurred his words and said their phone number so quickly that I had to replay it 3× Because he called from a blocked number. He also didn't say the extension and there is no general line to speak to someone. This seems like a very shady and run-down business without even a receptionist. I will not be paying them any more than for services rendered. read more

Echoing some of the other reviews for this company. They have called my office multiple times on different numbers, asking to speak to someone in Accounts Receivable. I tried to get more information from the caller as I wasn't sure if this was a solicitor or an account of ours that is past due. The caller was speaking super quickly and was hard to understand. I'm surprised I even got the company name out of the caller, trying to get information was like pulling teeth. He HUNG UP on me when I asked him if he was soliciting services or if we had an account that was past due. After reading these reviews, it seems like this is pretty common practice, and they use deceptive tactics to try and get to a company's financial department. They seem shady and I would absolutely avoid doing business with them. read more

Here's my letter to this firm as they did absolutely NOTHING, and I had to contact the clients for payment, and then this firm sent me an invoice for doing nothing! DO NOT USE THIS FIRM! They will rip you off! .. Names changed to protect the innocent.. There are NO innocence in this company: "Thank you, invoice received. In one of my conversations with Mr. Steve, it was my understanding that funds received are held for 25 days, and then released for payment. I ask that you provide the same grace to XXXXX with a payment term of Net 25 days. I must say that I had not experienced the service expected, and it was only at my initiation of conversations for updates with several phone calls that were not returned, leading to my own calls with the clients to initiate payments. Right now I really feel ripped off. In the case of Mr. XXXX, there were no updates other than a computer-generated report, and. this should have been my 'red' light. It wasn't until the second client was sent for collection, and a request for a call to discuss that "I" advised Mr. Steve that XXXXX has died. I cannot express my discouragement and disappointment in the service received, and the harm this has done to a small business. I have been ripped off by these clients and now by your firm, not because of this invoice, but because of the empty promises and inaction leading to this parting of ways. He said yes, it is very important I speak with her regarding a past-due account. I took his number and hung up. Researched the company & found out that it is a total scam and he was good, I'll give him that. Of course anyone hears a message regarding a "past due account" & they are more likely to call you back than if they knew you were just a salesman trying to offer services (that we do not need). If a client refuses to pay we simply inform our Senior Financial Advisor Anthony and in a very short period of time the client pays or makes payments on their invoice. HORRIBLE! I retained their services. But, I am having to report this firm to Authorities. They kept my money, and after months of near complete failure. I have worked with bad collection agencies in the past, and in my experience it is my opinion that this firm is the worst ever. They over-sell and over-promise to the extreme, and then they delivered virtually nothing for me approaching a year of having nearly 30 of my debtor files. No updates, no progress statuses, virtually no contact. Just a waste of months. Instead, they reneged almost entirely on virtually all of the promises made to me. Instead, after I complained, they told me to stop sending them cases -- not ALL cases, just the hardest ones -- because they weren't easy enough for them, but that's exactly why they were retained -- to collect since I could not -- that's their profession, not mine -- but then they threatened to quit on me (despite already apparently having quit months and months before without ever telling me -- hence the secrecy). I had to help them do their job and to collect for me, and then they kept my money! A 90+% failure rate overall! Then, they just lied about it all. ired them to collect a $1600 debt from a beautifully completed home improvement contract where the client simply didn't pay the full balance, and the debtor had the audacity to say I "didn't deserve it because the workers were here every day and I (As the owner) wasn't here every day", even though we had a project manager. (Basically, he had zero legitimate reason not to pay) Anyway, the point is the debt was extremely clear-cut and easy to collect. The debtor lives in a huge mansion too, drove a nice car, and obviously has plenty of assets/money. But Martini Hughes and Grossman made a ridiculous claim that the debtor "doesn't have any assets under his name" so they "couldn't collect". Sorry, but I seriously doubt he bought a huge home under a corporation. That's unlikely. Further, Martini Hughes and Grossman didn't even put the debt on his credit (Which is the ENTIRE POINT OF COLLECTIONS, and standard practice) because they claimed it would "cost extra". Usually debt collection companies do this included, because they make a portion of the collected money. When I asked Martini Hughes and Grossman for any sort of proof that my debtor "didn't have any assets", they refused to provide it/said they couldn't provide it. Which makes me seriously skeptical. The previous debt collector that I normally use, which is always successful, always puts the debt on the person's credit if they initially refuse to pay. Which is why they're successful. I only used Martini Hughes and Grossman because the other debt collector wasn't answering the phone in time. I probably should have waited for a callback from my usual debt collector, because this one really dropped the ball read more

Wow they called trying to SELL services and were rude and condescending - I cannot imagine their customer service is trained any better.

These clowns (MHG) 'handled' two past due accounts owed to my business, on both accounts the debtors told them via phone that they didn't owe... and these clowns just said "OK", without any proof whatsoever that the debts were paid, and stamped the file 'resloved'.... didn't matter that I supplied documents, email, texts, to the contrary in the first place. That was OVER 5 YEARS ago, and MHG still send me emails showing my "resolved" accounts every so often, even though I've asked them several times to be taken off their client roster and stop sending me emails, but they continue to do so. Why?- just to remind me that they sharded all over the job they said they would do? SO here's my review: You'd be better off drinking a martini and throwing the debt into the trash then to go with these schmucks. read more

Received a cold call from them today to my office number and a gentleman told me they are a collections agency and asked if he could explain their services. I politely explained that we are not interested and if he could please add me to their 'Do Not Call' list. The reply I normally expect is them thanking me for my time and the call is ended. Not this guy. He very rudely told me, "I do not do that unless I speak to the owner." I was shocked by his reply, but once again asked him to remove me from his list. He came back with another rude response saying, "I DO NOT REPEAT MYSELF."
