TL;DR - Avoid, let my experience be a red flag. They will over quote you, give you a "discount" and then try to pressure you into committing. This isn't professional and I would not recommend to anyone. Edit: now they're saying I committed over the phone? Who commits to a contractor over the phone!? I never agreed to anything. Also why would they offer me a discount if I supposedly committed already? Please just stop and accept responsibility; move on. The experience I had was unprofessional and I'm sorry I have more than half a brain cell. Have you ever had a bad feeling before you even commit to something? That was the case for this contractor. I was looking to get the exterior of a house painted, the trim and stucco so I reached out. As soon as I got on the phone with them, they tried to play the numbers game. Trying to guess how much other contractors quoted me and how much I spent on paint (thats a story for another time). Maybe it's because I'm a woman but they started talking to me like I haven't been shopping around. Ok, whatever I scheduled a meeting with him to come over and I saw that he was prompt, early even. He texted me that he was outside so I walked out to meet him. He didn't even bother introducing himself or making eye contact with me, just stared at the house and started critiquing, noting all the things out loud what the exterior needed. Then he proceeded to explain to me what kind of property the house was (yeah, we are fully aware that the property builders made the homes just to sell them, thanks). Then he started listing all the things we need to replace because of his expertise (things that a handful of contractors didn't even mention). At this point I just wanted him to give me a quote and be done with it. He was fully aware of the specific type of paint I got, but proceeded to tell me I would need primer. The paint I got already had primer in it but I don't say anything and he tells me that will be extra and that I NEED to get the primer or the job would look bad. He tells me it'll cost about $12k for a house that is about 2141 sq ft (including materials and labor) despite having already bought majority of the necessary paint. Then he keeps talking and tells me if I get the materials myself he'll discount it to $6k and that he can start right away because he's in between projects since he had a cancellation. He left and then texted me again saying that he would charge me only $6k for labor. I don't respond and he texts me again saying he'll discount it to $5k. I told him we reach out if we decide to go with him. He responded asking when we want to start the job. I don't respond. 6 hours later he texts me again telling me that he'll give me a discount if I commit to start Wednesday. At this point, I'm just getting all the bad vibes so I texted him "we have decided to go with someone else. Thank you for your time." and he responds with "Saved me on almost lowering my standards thanks for choosing someone else ". Yeah I'm glad I'm going with someone else. I whole heartedly believe I just saved myself from a lot of pain and suffering dealing with a rude and unprofessional individual. read more

Right away we could tell how dedicated he is to his craft/trade. His vast knowledge of paint products and their chemical composition/makeup and what works best on which surfaces is second to none. Although he offers his own paint, which I found - through my own research - reasonably priced and high quality, we opted to get our own. Nonetheless, he helped us make the best paint selections and offered plenty of advice along the way. What put him a step above anyone I've had work on our house for anything, was his focus on getting us the best outcome for our project and delivering as much value to us within our allotted budget. Not only did he throw in a few extras like painting our entire cinderblock wall and stairs for free, he also offered to stucco the small retaining wall we have on our lawn. He told us he could also just tell us what we needed to buy and he could guide us through all the steps we would need to take if we wanted to do it ourselves. I want to change my initial review. I immediately wrote a review once he finished the interior paint job. I should have waiting 24-48 to make final payment after reviewing everything. Once I mentioned the issues that still needed addressing radio silence from him. The exterior paint job was fine. On the interior job they did not remove the light switch/plug covers. They painted over them. When removed it took off all the paint around that area. I have multiple text messages to him about that and over spray I needed to have fixed. Literally have not replied I'm 2 weeks. I didn't k notice at the time but they also painted over the cabinet hinges and it looks terrible. I have text messages back and forth with nothing being done on his end. I've now declined to pass his name along based on his lack of response to any of my issues. TL;DR : Martin is someone who would be the epitome of more than fair in terms of pricing, superb in workmanship and your best friend if he didn't already fill that spot ages ago. If I were you, reading this review. Ask if he has an open space because this man is busy and you would want him handling your projects. Now then, I will be honest as humanely possible, I'm sitting here and he left maybe twenty minutes ago. I'm eating cereal because I just kind of want to on a Sunday afternoon because I have to work on the weekends later, I'm sad eating. We had about half the interior of the house done, previous painters from before and busy (Which is good!) we weren't sure where to go as we never really planned ahead of that, or at least I didn't. My wife leaves looking and finding people to me. But you know, WE when it counts! We had a video call for an estimate, and he gave me the rate for the labor. It sounded fair as I already went and asked several others. It was one of the more affordable estimates. Yelp kind of blasts those requests to people and I am too lazy to change that function when it prompts me every time. Two in which dropped by and gave me an in person review too. I checked his page and his stuff seemed pretty solid to me. He came early, very early. I don't think people wake up this early to work on things and the light wasn't even out yet. We greeted and went over the project again, he immediately started with another fellow. I don't remember his name, but he was friendly to me and I kinda feel bad that I didn't ask. They went to work, and these two were like beasts. I never seen someone go hard on painting, but they wasted no effort and time to prep every room and area. I felt like it should have taken two days, sure. I believe they could have knocked it out, but they took the time to go over their own work and make sure every spot was immaculate and nothing was overturned. They got (literally) every nook and cranny. Even getting some spots that were missed previously before on the last paint job. I couldn't be happier with Martin's service. I can spend all day flaunting about what a great finish he completed the project. But really, nothing I can say can give it justice on what he can do for you. His rates were superb and he didn't have no hidden fees or random up charges. He even gave us a discount because he is a member with all the equipment and tools he procured. He passed every single savings on to us. Really, I expected some more costs here and there. I get it, I'm used to it. But no this guy, Martin was transparent the whole way and gave me the exact rate we agreed on and the supplies. Nothing more and nothing less, I was floored. He did THIS? For that much!? Anyways, you read it this far. Schedule and an appointment, and ask for an estimate, because it doesn't hurt. And Martin has a his own self pride in his work and he will take care of your projects as his own. He's my guy now, we might not be best friends.
