We tried to go to the former ramen restaurant at this same location a few months ago and were disappointed to see a sign that said they were closed for remodeling until September. About a week ago I was pleasantly surprised to see this location pop up when I typed "ramen" into my trusty Yelp app. When we walked in, we were warmly greeted and seated immediately. The decor has a modern natural feel with wood branches along the ceiling, white walls, wood tables and benches, and an overall earthy aesthetic which I liked. We ordered the pork buns-2 to an order. To be honest, they were okay, but I have had better, and I felt that a lot of the appetizers were overpriced for what you get. I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen for my meal. They have a regular and large size. It was big enough because it included a half egg, piece of pork, seaweed, and some squiggly thing. The taste was flavorful, but seemed to be missing something. I don't know, the next time that I am in the mood for Ramen, I would definitely come back. Just a note, they are closed on Mondays. read more

It's delicious!! And their chicken karage with the homemade sauce is so good. I do Wish they had a chicken version of some of the Ramen because I don't eat pork and I'm allergic to shrimp and adding chicken is like adding another appetizer with the pricing. I go for the spicy tonkotsu with the Sapporo noodles and the seasoning is so on point. Wonton cheesecake was lack luster and tiny. It ain't bad, just not so impressive! I've heard to many compliments about this place the last couple days, and YES I GOTTA try it out to see if those comments go rite. The decoration is fantastic, simple, and clean! The food is just fine ( I expected something better after all those compliments). I can actually taste the powder in the soup. The meat is chewy and thick which is weird. The pork buns are a bit salty, but my friend enjoyed it( so I guess it's just me being picky). Chicken popcorn is a No cuz the lack of flavor. Tried the spicy tonkotsu and the eel ramen - both were fantastic. Food came out pretty quick and the prices are reasonable. It's a casual atmosphere. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was it took awhile to get our check - had to ask a couple of times. I recommend it and will be back. read more

As a ramen lover, we came across this place. First off, the seasoned egg is probably one of the best I've had at any ramen place. It's cooked perfectly and has an umami flavor from being soaked in a soy seasoning. The noodles here were only decent though. I'm more of an egg noodle fan and the thicker one was pretty good, but I've had better. If they had more bite to it I would've liked it better. The pork was pretty good being smoky but I would've liked it cooked a little less. Now the broth. I'm not a big fan of heavy broths so I always skip the tonkotsu and get the shoyu. The shoyu here is nice and light and has a strong mushroom flavor, which I actually liked. It's not the best broth I've ever had but it was still really good. I think this place is a solid 4 stars considering all of these aspects. read more

Eh okay ramen. I've been here twice now, and the first time I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and the second time I ordered the Creamy Miso Ramen. The first time, I thought the Tonkotsu Ramen was decent. The broth was actually pretty delicious and the noodles were a great consistency. They weren't too stiff or too soft. The broth was savory and flavorful, but the noodle to broth ratio was awful. There was not enough broth in my bowl and it was almost as if I wasn't even eating a ramen bowl. The pork was also dry. The second time around, I thought I would try the Creamy Miso Ramen, but that was a mistake. This selection was simply boring and bland. It didn't have much flavor and I was disappointed. Once again, the noodle to broth ratio was inadequate. We also ordered the Takayaki and Pork Buns for appetizers. The Takayaki flour was great, but the octopus was stiff and rubbery. Pork Buns were again DRY and boring. There was something missing in it, maybe a daikon? We didn't even finish them. Love the interior, great place for cheap eats or if you are craving ramen... Since apparently there aren't any great ramen places in the DFW area. This will have to do. read more

The flavor of the ramen wasn't there. I expected a more fatty, nice broth but I didn't get that. The broth was just salty and watery with no such authentic flavor. This is a common lunch spot for us. It's clean, the staff are very attentive and the food is amazing! We will keep coming back for more!

Alright. I got dragged here. I wasn't expecting much. I had the best time. We started with warm edemame, it was salted and delicious but not filling so you had room for your meal. Eating the appetizer took just enough time for them to cook our food. Here is the main part: The food was delicious, fast, and the server was attentive, even funny. The atmosphere was beautiful genuine, tables are perfectly spaced and clean. Everything on the menu is reasonably priced nothing was over 20 dollars the lowest was 8. Tonkatsu is a good choice to start with. Will be coming back until I've had everything on the menu. Maru was probably the best Ramen place I would eat at in the North Dallas Area. No longer feel like that is the case. We always order pork gyoza and 2x spicy tonkatsu with corn, and one side extra chashu. Pork gyoza was really greasy, and the spicy tonaktsu was not hot as ramen should when served, basically just warm. It wasn't just the food that was disappointing, but more so the fact we paid $50 for the tab for party of 2. The reason being the spicy tonkatsu went from $10 to $13 over the span on 4 months. You can check the old photo menu and we have dined here for over 4-5 years. Not worth the $50, but was great for $40. Flavors from the ramen are still great, but the service, price, overall quality have gotten worse. Pandemic and inflation really don't justify the %30 price increase. Don't mean to sound all snobby but I've had a lot of quality ramens in my life, and this was very lackluster. I ordered the spicy tonkotso which came with a poorly seasoned broth, bland egg, and the fattiest piece of chashu I've ever tasted. And nope, it's not spicy whatsoever. We also ordered the pork buns and pot stickers, which neither looked or tasted good. The service is quite slow and we came around 5:30pm which is not even dinner time yet. Cute little sit down restaurant with decent service. Their menu is limited to just mostly ramen bowls and a few appetizers but you won't be disappointed with either. We ordered the nabeyaki udon ($17) and yaki ramen ($10) bowls. I loved the flavors in both dishes however the udon bowl felt skimpy for the price you pay for it as you get 2 tempura shrimp on the side, an egg, and that was about it. A hidden gem! I was in the mood for ramen, so I simply searched "ramen" into Yelp. I was looking for something fairly close, and I was stuck between Maru and another place...Maru was a bit farther, but the amount of reviews and the photos sold me. AND I AM SO GLAD I CHOSE HERE! To begin with, this restaurant is nestled into a shopping center in Richardson that is solely Asian. For me, this is reassuring - I know that I'm getting authentic food, which I want (I'm far more into small, authentic restaurants than chains)! Furthermore, the parking lot was FULL. All good signs. The restaurant itself is small and decorated with minimalism - it has a cute, pink neon sign behind the hostess: "slurp!". Very cute place! There isn't a ton of seating, but there's enough, and we didn't have a wait. I had 2 children (5 & 2 - needed a high chair) and this restaurant is certainly kid-friendly. I will say, if you have a hyper child, I'd ask to be in the corner - simply because it isn't a huge eating area, and if you're like me, you want your terrible toddler at least 2 feet from another person. HAH! The service is extremely friendly and accommodating, and I wish I caught our waitress' name so I could give her a mention. Very friendly and fast. The food was phenomenal. They don't have kids menu, but what we did was ordered an "Extra noodle" and "Extra broth" to make a small bowl for the kids - this only cost $3.50. The edamame was warm and salted, the kids ate it up! The pork buns...well, let's just say I could probably eat 10 - probably more if after drinking or during emotional eating. SO. GOOD! For the ramen, I ordered Spicy Tonkotsu with Hakkata noodles. It was beautifully put together, and tasted heavenly. It wasn't too spicy - just right. TLDR: eh, it's alright. Ordered : Gyzoa, Tonkatsu and Creamy Miso Sapporo Ramen. Gyzoa was just your typical fried dumpling, nothing noteworthy about it, but the plating was nice. The broth from both Ramen bowls was alright, tasty enough but no wow factor, or "oh this is great!" element about it. I liked that it came fully topped with an egg, seaweed, corn, etc. The pork belly that the bowl came with was not the best. It was almost soggy and mushy. However, the texture of the Sapporo noodles was one of the things I appreciated most about this place. they were perfectly chewy and not too soggy. It was interesting that they also offered gluten free noodle options on their menu as well. The only thing I did not particularly like about this place is the absolutely CRINGEWORTHY Japanese that you are greeted with upon coming through the front door, and continued to hear as other diners came in. It was embarrassing to hear the continuous butchering of the "welcome". You are only saying ONE Japanese phrase over and over, it would be nice if it was properly taught or rehearsed with the staff. Staff was kind and they were extremely attentive. Constantly staring from afar or hovering up close to the table but we appreciated their service. Some may find this to be uncomfortable but it was not a bad time. If you're looking for a quick Ramen fix in the area, this will do the job alright. read more

I walked in and felt like I was at a cool spot in LA. the decor was super nice and I really appreciated the simple yet well thought out interior decor. we got two ramen to try. SPICY TONKOTSU and the MISO. my mom and Ioved the SPICY TONKOTSU. the broth was incredible. I can still taste the flavors two hours after I had this ramen.. we got it with Sapporo noodles which is the pretty traditional curly noodles. I liked the MISO ramen but it was a little bland compared to the SPICY TONKOTSU. I highly recommend trying this place and making it your new ramen spot. Great small shop, simple and pleasant interior, with delicious food to match. I got the classic recommended spicy tonkatsu and it had the perfect amount of spice and flavor! I ordered them with the thinner hakata style noodle, which was good but I think I'd try the thicker style next time. Paired with an order of takoyaki and red bean mochi for dessert made for a fantastic meal. Very easy to order takeout via the Yelp app. The takeout packaging was thoughtful and was easy to transport. Ordered the tonkatsu ramen. Prices reasonable. I liked how the ramen noodles weren't stuck together like most places do when ordering take out. Taste was solid though I think the egg could have been cooked better and the yolk was not creamy.
