We ended up choosing the following: -Shrimp Tempura (3/5): standard tempura but a little heavier than I'm use to. -Fries (5/5): seasoned well and crispy! -Soup Base: Sukiyaki (sweet & sour) and Tonkatsu (creamy pork broth). I dined here Friday at 11:30 AM with a friend as my friend saw that they advertise the $15 lunch special, Food were not fresh (for $15 I did not expect much) and tasted horrible and it caused me food poisoning right after I left. Service...Waiters were rude and gave me and my friend attitude when we asked for one more serving vegetable...when it is refillable according to the other server. What is even more scammy about this place is today my credit card alerted me that on top of the 18% MANDATORY SERVICE TIP (for 2 people dining in) + 3% credit card fee (what?), the waiters tried to charge my card $10 MORE in the tip. I would never tip 42% of my bill for such a horrible service and food. I've been coming to Yoshi since they opened and have seen them through many of their phases.. the days when they had super larger portions you could order like their King Kong/Godzilla. The brothers (owners) would expertly slice your portions. They also had great sides like their beef rice don... so much beef over rice. During Covid, they had to pivot from many of their hot dish appetizers like their beef don, but they maintained a high quality of meat you didn't get at other cheaper hot pot locations. When they began serving their wagyu toro, I would generally order 1-2 orders of that along w 1-2 portions of prime ribeye. I want to emphasize I love large fat portions, but today.. Well, take a look at the picture below. I hate waisting meat, but at a certain point my body couldn't handle it. Instead of 50/50 ratio, it was 70 to 80% fat. I tried biting my lip and just eating it, because I was with my family, but by the end I felt sick and just wanted to throw up. The meal wasn't expensive ($140 for 4), but costs enough where you shouldn't hurl after finishing your food. Genuinely feel so sick and never want to go back ever again (it's that bad). It sucks as this was one of my favorite restaurants for YEARS, where I have spent thousands if not tens of thousands over the years inviting different friends and family members. As I was leaving, I told the waiter, that the fat portion was unacceptable and he merely said oh sometimes it's just that fatty... and with that you just lost a customer for life. read more

This shabu shabu place is still great. They had gotten rid of their combo deals years ago, but their new model is $8 base for unlimited veggies, sauces, and rice. You can pay extra for a different soup base or add on noodles. The meats are a la crate and average around $7 each. Me and my partner order around 4 meats with the normal base when we visit. My favorite is still their toro and I love their sesame sauce. The employees here are friendly and service is fast. My hot plate happened to be broken this visit, but they were very apologetic. This place is great for dates. All the other parties in the restaurant was here in parties of 2. Very mid. If you are used to doing hot pot and looking for something like that I would not recommend the place. Granted shabu shabu is slightly different... The food is not bad and tasty, but the price is not worth it when you can go somewhere. They used to offer happy hour and that was more worth it. If you're only coming for vegetables then may be worth it. The meat is good quality i will say Also the servings of noodles are in such a small cup?? Like noodles are not that expensive at least give us a normal serving size when we have to pay additional for them! I will say service is very good! And the ambiance is nice! Did the NW Plano location last time, did Richardson this time. Parking sucks, point blank, you have to park in a garage. Finding this location within the morass of the complex is a pain. This location is also a little smaller and was understaffed. The food/drink was just as excellent as the Plano location. Succulent meats, fresh veggies etc... and the Happy Hour was nice, 30% off meats and 3$ sake/beer allowed for more proteins and an extra beverage. It's much closer to the house, so I'll probably go back here since I know where to park now and I'll look to do it Mon-Wed (the excellent 30% off - also after 2000 the rest of the week if you like to dine late. read more

First time here from AZ and had the most horrible service ever! The service was super slow from the start to the end. My party and I (9 people) got here right when they opened which was at 11am and nobody sat us down until about 15mins later. After being sat we waited a good 30 minutes before someone came to take our order. We didn't say anything and wanted to give them the benefit of doubt since they just opened. We all ordered water and notice that was taking awhile to come out. We were looking around and they were people who came in after us who already got their food. I started to get upset since we had to wait hours for food to came out to the point where the boiling water pot was almost empty. When the food came out the order got confusing and it that was a big mess too. We got there at 11am and didn't leave until 2:30pm. Overall, it was a bad experience, horrible customer experience, quality wasn't great, and price was expensive. I'm not the one who usually complains but customers deserve to be warned. read more

We visited Dallas and so excited to get in a food venture. We have no expectation aside from good food and experience which I think normal for all. Went to this place and impressed with the setup of the tables. We were so excited and starving. Someone welcomed us and gave us our seats (2 people) - gave us the menu. It took some time before we were assisted. We thought it's normal as it looks like they are short handed. When one of the staff approached us he started to put spring onion in our base then made a comment that we are hoping to do that so we can control the amount. And his face totally changed - and while taking order he was using his phone and totally didn't interest to ask other things we need. (I figured this as I compared his questions to the customer besides our seat) He also forgot the other order and we were assisted by someone else. In short, we have a poor experience with the customer service. The last staff who assisted us was so kind and hopeful to change our experience but the first tall guy staff NO CARE at all. About the food, if you are a person who likes mix and match this restaurant is for you. Which I enjoyed doing but the base doesn't taste well at all. The base was bland and not appealing with our taste buds. One of the observations, they serve peanut sauce which they should consider asking allergies to people first before anything else. The price of the food is way too far for its worth. Comparing to other shabu-shabu we've been to in Dallas - this is the most expensive and poor quality. It is fine to pay more if it compromised with the service and food quality but unfortunately it didn't. I failed to take photos as we were starving but I surely have the receipt photo. The meat sub par. It wasn't cheap: they hide all the costs with confusing pricing. It looks cheap but they charge per person $7.50 baseline. They will charge 18% tip automatic, hide a 3 % credit card fee, and then ask for more tip. It's a scam and money grab. Terrible food. They hide all the fees with a really confusing menu. Wow. Fantastic find! This brought me back to the days my Japanese Grandma used to cook shabu shabu for me before she passed away. Not only is the food delicious but service is top notch! Staff gets paid based off included service tip so everyone comes by to check on you. *** KNOW BEFORE YOU GO *** This has been our go-to place for over two years now -- and it is definitely the most delicious hot pot of any kind that we have ever had in the Dallas area. For us, it's still FIVE STARS when it comes to quality. But unfortunately our last experience will keep us from coming back. We always order the King Kong Prime Rib for two, $50.00. This is reasonable because it includes unlimited vegetables, rice, and a side of noodles per person. We always walk out full, more than any other all-you-can-eat hot pots. Our server asked us when we arrive, "Have you dined here before?" We said, Yes! We made reservations and were seated the minute we walked in. Our waiter was excellent and very accommodating. He said to let him know if we needed more vegetables. This is why Shabu Shabu is great, they want you to be happy with the blend of your hot pot. As always, we asked for extra mushrooms and spinach. We had a wonderful experience until the bill came. It was $60.00 (plus tip). What? Why the extra $10.00? This is when we learned they no longer offer unlimited vegetables. They now charge $2.50 per request. When were they going to tell us this??? In the past, you were given a vegetable started bowl and then you asked for what you wanted. Now you have to accept whatever they give you (which is mostly leafy greens) and then pay $2.50 extra for what you really want. We did not know every time we requested veggies it cost extra. Honestly, I thought this was super crappy! When we arrived, and our server asked us if we have dined there before (we said yes) -- he should have told us veggies were no longer unlimited. The neighbors decided to sit straddling the table, so his back was up against our table..... just odd in tight quarters with hot water and steam, doesn't feel very safe..... but oh well! We order Hot Sake, Wagyu Toro, Prime Ribeye, Salmon (Rose), and the New York Steak. They thinly slice the meat, right here on sight too. You cook the meat yourself in the pot of hot water with your choice of Base, Noodles, and Protein. It's a a super fun experience and great conversations. At the the end of the day, this place is a Fun Time and everything tastes the way you'd like it cooked and dipped in the sauces with sticky rice. The service was alright.... I really Wish they would've taken the time to explain the entire process and preparation among other things. For how small the place is, we had to keep waving down our server.... I've never visited Richardson and felt that when it comes to Asian food this was a place I needed to visit and so the hunt began. There are so many restaurants there it had my head spinning. For amazing Shabu Shabu, look no further! Yoshi's is easily the best Shabu Shabu joint in Dallas, TX. Their service is pretty good, the food selection is great, and they got good adult beverages. I really like how you can order A5 Wagyu Ribeye cuts to cook in the delicious broth. Honestly though, I'm not sure how much better it'd taste (relative to the cheaper cuts) and recommend only ordering the Prime Ribeye. I also think A5 Wagyu Ribeye is best eaten as a thicker grilled steak, not thin cuts in a soup. Decided to make a quick stop for a Shabu lunch before checking into our hotel. Convenient location in a residential/ retail complex Yoshi Shabu Shabu has tables and counter seating. When we arrived there was another party and the only patrons. No table service so we had to sit at the Shabu counter. The ordering is complex with the soup bases from powder. The sauces are basic sesame and ponzu. The do have garlic, green onions and daikon radish that you can add. Everything is ala carte with the exception of the veggies. We did ask for additional veggies some came some they just forgot. The menu says the meal comes with a choice of noodles but they were all out "huh". Eric R., Melinda C., and I had a really fun outing here last Friday night as we braved the torrential downpour to drive north on central expressway. We can get hotpot in our little Kansas town, but not shabu shabu. Melinda C. had never tried shabu shabu either. We decided to order a combo for two people with 5 proteins to share, and the third person would cost $9 for veggies, noodles, rice, and sauce. We chose NY strip, choice ribeye, wagyu ribeye (extra cost), salmon, and scallop. We were given teriyaki, sesame peanut, and ponzu sauces, which were adorned with garlic, grated daikon, and green onion. Eric R. ordered a sapporo on draft but it came out in a bottle. They explained it the menu was wrong but lowered the price for him. Melinda C. and I ordered a yuzu lemonade which was really delicious! The menu also mentioned matcha lemonade, so next time...! Our server was very friendly and explained everything to us. Eric R. added a tonkotsu base, I stuck with traditional konbu but asked for the sides of bonito, nori, and jalapenos, and Melinda C. ordered sukiyaki base which came with an egg. Eric R. got ramen, and Melinda C. and I chose udon noodles, but clear glass noodles are the gluten free option. The server really wanted to show us how to do things, which is nice, but she kept trying to use the same pair of wooden chopsticks to demonstrate. She started with Eric R.'s bowl and tried to use those chopsticks to touch my vegetables and broth. I had to tell her multiple times I do not eat pork and do not want these chopsticks from his pork broth in my food. I must have told her three or four times to stop using them near my food, and Melinda C. even told her once. Then another worker tried to use them because they were put in a communal utensil holder with what should have been spoons for us to use, but now I could not use those either. I had to tell him not to use those either. Besides that, we enjoyed our food. I asked for a few cubes of tofu and was given a giant bowl of it, and then when our soups were made with the finished broth and noodles, the tofu I added in there was taken out by the server which was a bit weird. To make soups at the end, they mix a soy sauce and fish sauce base and add the broth from the finished shabu shabu pot, the noodles, and any remaining veggies. They also offered to add the garlic and green onions too. All of us were stuffed so we took our soups to go and ate them for lunch the next day. It really is a good deal to get two meals out of it and it is cool they do not restrict people from taking the soups to go after eating, which some hot pot restaurants do. I would consider returning if I could make sure I can control my own cooking and utensils, but I think they are so eager to have us enjoy the experience that they were not thinking about cross-contamination or allergy restrictions, so I do not think it was intentional. Great Experience and Thanks to Brittany for taking care of us! Our son took us to this Hot Pot spot. It was a first for two of us but totally worthwhile experience. Parking at this location was easy and safe. Sitting at the bar, with a cook top & pan of hot water in front of you is a whole new experience. Visited for a mid week 8pm dinner and it was perfect. Our Hostess/Waitress Brittany waited on us all night and was nice enough to escort us through the process all night. Idea is order your noodle type, protein, and veggies and everything else comes automatically. You cook it yourself, like fondue, in the hot pan in front of you. Different items cook for 10 seconds to 30 seconds. Everyone has their own pan and control their own mix and pace. Appetizer must is the Garlic Noodles - mouth watering even now days after visiting. Please try them. For our entrees, we tried the 2 protein and 4 protein combos (dont remember what they were called). We tried ny strip, shrimp, pork, choice steak, and scallops. Everything was tasty in the broth (Brittany provided spices and sauces) adjusted for your personal taste. I would suggest only doing the 2 protein or at most the 3 protein as the 4 was alot of food and we really didnt finish all of it. Plus it takes time and price is $five more per protein. For our group we all picked Ramen noodles which they save for the end. (good too!) For beverages, they have a good selection of adult beverages - by no means a fully stocked bar, but I dont think that is your goal when visiting a Hot Pot.
