    tonkotsu ramen, mild
    Rosamond H.

We came here last week for dinner and waited about 15 minutes for a table of 7. It's a pretty small restaurant. Only one big table, all the other tables were for groups of 2-4. I ordered their tonkotsu ramen mild. It was honestly really good, but a bit on the saltier side. I'm not a huge fan of their chashu pork, it was really hard for me to chew so I gave them to my husband. The broth came foamy, which is kinda weird since it's the first time I ever had foamy broth, but it was flavorful and good! Overall, I would come back to try some of their other ramens and maybe ask for less salt. It's in the same parking lot as barnes and nobles so you can walk around there after eating!

everything fell somewhat flat, except for presentation which was genuinely very pretty and enticing i got the chicken karaage curry omurice. the chicken karaage wasn't crispy, even the pieces not sitting in the curry. the curry itself was lacking flavor and depth overall. the rice has pieces of chicken, and it had a faint pleasant ketchup flavor which worked with the egg atop. i tried my friend's pork katsu and that was extremely dry. maybe i came on an off day

Solid Japanese comfort food, from the ramen to the curry. I prefer the ramen here but love that the curry tastes homemade. I actually don't like Golden Curry or Coco curry all that much and prefer this place. Doesn't compare to what I've had in Japan, but Moriya is one of the more solid choices in DFW Love that the ramen has pork or chicken chashu! Great service and appreciate that there is parking!

This place is criminally good. You may catch a bit of a wait depending on when you go, but it is so worth it. The omurice katsu curry is served piping hot and has a beautiful flavor profile that feels like home. This is a meal that I will always return to when we are in the area. I truly do want to try out the rest of their menu, but can't part from this one just yet. I've managed to do a small sample of ramen which was good and their takoyaki was good too, but nothing has rivaled the curry. The wait staff is also very quick. You can tell they are all seasoned pros ans accustomed to handling the crowds. We will 100% be back!

I really wanted to like this place. We went right when it opened and there was a short line to get in. We were quickly seated and the place filled up over the next 10 minutes or so. It's very popular so be prepared for a short wait. The service was fine. We were never left wanting or feel like we were waiting for anything. My issue is the food. Let me be clear, this place is good, just not to my liking. I don't like wavy noodles. Forever I just thought I didn't like ramen. It turns out it's those pesky wavy noodles that ruin the dish for me. I ordered the black garlic tonkatsu ramen with the spicy upcharge. The broth was rich and had a nice red hue to it. I expected to have my nose run but that was quickly squashed. I couldn't really detect any heat. I loaded it up with the provided chili powder and hot oil and was still dissapointed. Although the broth was rich, it lacked body and character. My wife had the non spicy version and had to load it up with soy sauce until she just gave up. The pork was fine, egg was cooked well but cold even in the hot broth. The raw spinach was gross. I kept wanting some kimchi. The soup had pickled veggies but they were gross too. You may like this place. Heck, you may love this place! It's just not for me. Too many misses across the board. 3 stars is an average score in my book. The only way I would go back is if someone invited me to go there and I couldn't talk them into a different place.

Found a great food spot! Delicious, great location! Enjoyed the katsu curry and spicy ramen! Service was very efficient and the place was busy on a Friday evening. Cute little spot!

Already been to this place twice within the last few days. The black garlic tonkotsu is very cream and flavorful! Definitely one of the better ramens I've had in DFW!

I remember this place used to be in a Korean grocery store in Dallas. I loved their salmon don and I still do now. Their ramen is good too, and it's great place to get katsu curry. It is just a little bit pricey.

Went here with some friends. We started off with the fried platter and everything was super tasty. I'd get it again. For myself, I got the regular katsu curry and it was good. I wish I had gotten the spicy version though. Love the ambiance in here. There's a bar where you can sit by yourself. Just like Japan! The service here is amazing and the waiter was super knowledgeable. Already looking forward to my next visit here. 10/10

One of the best ramen spots in town -- and I love that it's right here in the Richardson/Plano area, so we don't have to drive far for great ramen. Their bowls are really unique: the silky, creamy broth, the flavorful chashu, and even the foam on top easily beat my previous favorite ramen spot. I've only tried one ramen so far, so I'll definitely be coming back to explore more of the menu. That's the only reason I'm giving 4 stars for now. Service could use a bit of improvement -- things like refilling water, clearing empty dishes, or removing trash would make the experience even better, especially since the tables are small and fill up quickly as more dishes come out. Price-wise, it's on par with other ramen shops in the area, and I think it's totally worth it for how unique and delicious the ramen is. I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes!

So this ramen restaurant is over the top amazing! The ramen is super amazing! Where I just could not get enough broth and noodles. OMG so good! Takoyaki was melt in your mouth with chewy octopus greatness! The curry was very good here too! Service was lighting fast and very easy to work with. What I really liked about this place was that there was some cool manga comics and games you could read or play while waiting or eating for that matter. Which I really thought added to the whole experience This is the type ramen house where if you just hang out here you feel like you are in Japan. It feels that authentic to me. It's the type of place where you can't wait to go back to.. Highly recommend, if you haven't stopped by yet here you are doing yourself a disservice. It's just that good!

Not sure what they brought out but I know it's the wrong order.

The place is great and welcoming! I enjoyed the atmosphere. The only thing I didn't enjoy as much was my meal. I asked for Tokyo Spicy Miso but when it came it was bland and wasn't spicy. I did appreciate when the waitress brought out chili oil after I told them my order wasn't correct but it still didn't help the taste of my ramen which was unfortunate but I still had a decent time and wouldn't mind giving it a second try!

    Rachel J.

Moriya's homemade curry is soooooo good. It absolutely hits the spot for me every time... rich, comforting, and packed with deep umami flavor. And their frothy tonkotsu broth is so unique too... creamy, flavorful, and just delicious. Beware that seating is limited and service can be slow at peak hours.

The restaurant wasn't busy at the time, so it was no big deal, but worth noting. The service was actually the highlight of the night, and earned this review one additional star simply because of the effort involved. Else it would be a 3 star review. There was only one server running the entire front of house while the restaurant got progressively busier, and only two chefs in the kitchen. Despite being swamped, the server worked her tail off. She didn't mess up a single order for our large group and kept things moving. I greatly appreciated her hard work. Appetizers (5/5): The wait for food was noticeable due to the staffing, but the appetizers were worth it. We ordered the Edamame, Yatai Gyoza, Agedashi Tofu, and Takoyaki, and all of them were delicious. Entrees (3/5): Unfortunately, the main courses were a bit basic compared to the starters. The Tonkotsu Ramen was strictly average; I've definitely had better broth and noodles elsewhere. If you are looking for the top-tier quality izakaya, Mr. Max Izakaya in Irving is hands down better option. However, you have to wait an hour for a table there.

We had scouted it out online, looking for a ramen place near where we were staying in Plano. Unassuming on the front, the inside is an amazing atmosphere with a vibe straight from a Shinjuku street stall. The wait staff was polite, and very nice. The chef was working away inside the replica street stall. The food arrived quickly, and was delicious! So much flavor! Everything new was somehow even better than the dish we tried before it. So good, so tasty! If we come back for another visit, Yatai is now on our list of restaurants to eat at again!

The stars were aligned correctly and I was able to come to the Richardson location right when it opened. As someone that's a huge fan of Izakaya's - Mr Max did leave a little bit to be desired. Food quality was great, don't get me wrong - however I feel like for the cost, the portions are a little bit on the small side. The menu is also a little limited - this location has been open a while already so I assume they aren't going to expand the menu beyond whatever is already on there. I guess I've just been spoiled with other Izakaya's having pages upon pages of things to choose from. The dining area is quite nice, though I heard the og Irving location has tatami style seating - which this one does not. Not a deal breaker for me. Staff was nice and restaurant was clean, just wish their portion sizes were at least a little more "Texas" sized for the price. Other diners I went with said the noodles are better at the Irving location but I can't speak to that as I've never been there. All in all still a nice dining experience.

The ambience is definitely less classic izakaya style (no taking your shoes off or sitting at the bar watching the chefs work in the kitchen), but all of our favorite dishes that we've tried at the Richardson location have been spot on. We like to do shareable small plates style, even for the "bigger" entrees like ramen and the house curry, and we're always stuffed at the end of our meal. Service is pretty good and personally I love that this location is much closer to where we live and usually also much less busy than the OG location; better for us to walk in whenever we want :) Can't wait to return soon!
