Even though the gentlemen with Marvin Junk Removal were hauling junk out of a bedraggled basement with unfriendly steep stairs, they were conscientious and considerate of their surroundings (and me) more so than most furniture movers I have encountered. The guys came prepared with tools, physical stamina and know-how to complete the job in an efficient and professional manner. I have found that it is not uncommon for service people to complain during a job but these guys did not, which was refreshing; instead, one man even said, "We're getting' there!" The job cost a bit more than I would have liked but with two trips of hauling and the professionalism and courtesy I experienced, I feel I paid a bit more for a quality job well-done and in the end, I am ok with that. I chose Marvin based on online reviews I read and I made a right choice. Marvin reached out almost immediately and gave a quote based on my description with photos. He was very responsive with every question I sent by text. His crew came on time and completed the removal in just over one hour - impressive given how much they had to take out. I found Marvin (and on very short notice) as we needed some serious help hauling things from our basement that were totally ruined from water damage in early September 2018. Not a fun job! But he responded right away and the next day both he and another guy showed up and hauled away an entire room's worth of ruined clothing, shoes, books, furniture - pretty much everything you can think of that would be stored in a basement. After trying to contact two other companies who never responded, I was very pleased to get an almost immediate automated email confirmation of my booking request from Marvin Junk Removal, followed up the next morning with an email offering to do an estimate either on-site or based on pictures. We opted for the estimate by pictures and within a few days received a response with a quote. Unfortunately the quote was a lot; we ended up soliciting a second quote from another company and going with them, at about half the price. I needed to get rid of a non-working treadmill. I called Marvin, texted him some pictures of the treadmill, and got a quote one minute afterwards. 30 minutes later the truck and 3 people arrived at the house, and 10 minutes later they were done. This was excellent! Marvin and his colleague are extremely responsive so I was able to get junk removal on short notice, especially during August when everyone is doing move out/move in. All I needed to do was email them, send some photos of the stuff I wanted removed, share my address and that was it! I didn't need to give them the dimensions of the furniture, doorway, staircase, etc (which would have taken a while to do). I needed a very oversized and awkward bed and bed frame removed which he did surprisingly fast especially since it required sawing through the box spring to get it out of the apartment. He offered to clean up at the end which was very thoughtful but not necessary. They are very efficient, friendly and professional. This is the second time I've had Marvin at a property that I am selling. The first time he cleaned out the living space of excess furniture left by previous tenants. He and his partner did an amazing job of protecting the walls, while also making sure they were safe carrying the heavier furniture. The second time, I needed the basement cleaned out. Excellent small family owned company based in Somerville to take away all your junk! I called another big brand company to do the job they quoted me at $800 without even seeing how much stuff we had. So I quickly search for another company..came across these very nice guys. They said i could send him pics of the piles of junk to give us a rough estimate. He quoted me $500! I said how soon can you get here??? Nobody wants to sit and wait with junk laying around everywhere. The other big brand said the earliest they could come was in a week! FML these guys at Marvin said oh we can come today! I was so excited ! I gave him my address they showed up earlier than they told me. They were polite and worked so efficiently...cutting stuff down to make it fit in the truck. I was very impressed with their puzzle skills LOL they filled that sucker up! They did go up another $100 just because the pic of the pile didn't get a clear shot of everything we had. Which is understandable! We called several people and Marvin Junk responded promptly, came to give us a quote about a half hour later and three men were back in 2 hours with a truck to take everything away. They were pleasant, hard working, organized, efficient and cleaned the yard and patio at the end!
