We went last night for the first time. We saw Jeff Hobson. I'll start with the pre show in the bar. So fun! A piano bar with magic tricks! Doesn't get any better! Oh well yes it does, when you go inside the intimate, immaculate theater and watch Jeff Hobson. I never stopped laughing. My ribs ached when the show was over. Yes he performs magic, which is great fun and amazing, but the comedy is top notch. Jeff is as good as it gets in comedy and he does it all without being vulgar just to get a laugh. Leave that to the amateurs. No need to go to Vegas to see one of the best comedians in the country. He's right here in La Quinta. Lucky for us. You will not be disappointed. Then there is the post show in the bar. Talk about getting your moneys worth! Fabulous! I highly recommend you go and take your out of town guests. The only thing you should not do is have dinner before or after at Buccatini's next door. Seems like the perfect evening but you will ruin a great night by dining there. This is great entertainment. The magic acts are astounding performed by professional magicians. The pre show entertainment of a singer and up close magic is great. I had a great time. The entertainment starts with a Lounge show before the main show. The Lounge drinks are priced reasonably and are served by a professional bar staff. If you want to have a couple of hours of great entertainment that is local and at a reasonable price then this is your place. read more

Such a great show! We've been coming to the desert for years and are always looking for something new, different and fun. This show is definitely new, different and FUN!! Highly recommend it. My wife and I love this place. The acts are wonderful, both the main attractions and the warm-up/MC talent. Great mix of magic, music and comedy. Also, they did a really nice job building out the space. The bar/entryway area is sleek and attractive. The theater itself is intimate, with spacious, comfortable chairs. This was our tenth visit to Marvyn's Magic Theater. We thoroughly have enjoyed each visit. It is our go-to entertainment when we have out of town visitors. It is so much fun to see the look of surprise on our guests when we enter the beautifully decorated lounge. Plan to arrive early for a cocktail and pre-show entertainment. The show is about 80 minutes - so much fun and at time interactive. We were saddened when the Follies closed in Palm Springs - Jeff Hobson has brought an elite replacement for that lost entertainment. read more

I've been anticipating the opening of this theater all summer and it is a gem of the desert. The theater is named after Marvyn Roy, a local resident and talented magician, who toured and performed nationally and internationally. To honor the art of magic, Marvyn's Magic theater books magicians Wednesday -Sunday in an intimate space that is unique in the valley. I was awed with the talent and the level of performance. Fantastic. That might be an understatement. Jeff and his wife Yvonne have launched a gem in the desert. From the time we entered, until the we walked out, they both made us feel as if we had known them for years. Prior to the show we were treated to piano music close-up magic, and cocktails. The showroom had nice comfortable seating. The show itself was a bit hilarious and a bit magic that, when combined, was thoroughly entertaining. Afterward, instead of shuttling the guest out door, more music and close-up magic for a 1/2 hour or so. Everything showed attention to detail. My wife and I wont hesitate to return again and again. If you're looking for a night of entertainment, away from the normal dull movie and dinner, this is a great option. read more

We have been twice and loved both shows. My wife and I were so impressed, we took four friends on our second visit. They all enjoyed also. The acts change weekly so it is never the same. I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said... we laughed out loud the whole time, were genuinely wowed, and thoroughly impressed with the venue and ambiance. I personally have never been to a magic show or any place like this, so it really was a one-of-a-kind experience. Easy 5 stars, and definitely recommend it to anyone in the area looking for more than just a good time. We saw the ventriloquist Jay Johnson, who made me laugh so hard I cried, and who was so incredibly talented... I'd recommend you see him wherever you can. That said, the host of the venue, Jeff Hobson, could easily headline his own show and adds enough value to the ticket on his own. OMG, should have a policy of money back or credit to another show. Last night was awful! The headliner had the date wrong on one of the first tricks. The curtains did not operated properly. The last two tricks didn't work! Also the guy did some weird puppet thing that didn't fit in with anything. Waste of time and money tonight, that's for sure. My husband and I really enjoyed the show at Marvyns! We laughed from beginning to end, never a dull moment. The show was not too long and not too short (about an hour and a half). They have a very impressive lobby when you enter (21 and over only!) The bar serves you a drink in a souvenir cup and you can sit in the lobby and enjoy live music and magic while you wait for the show to begin. One thing that i think is really cool, the performers change every week so you don't have to worry about running in to the same act if you return to see another show! I would absolutely return to Marvyns Magic Theater! It makes for a great night out or it's great gift idea!!! read more

Having visited the Magic Castle in Hollywood several times, I was skeptical that a venue so close to home would satisfy.
