Wednesday nights are fantastic at Barfly!…read more Every other Wednesday, there is a live, free comedy show in the bar area starting at 8pm. The Wednesdays that are not comedy nights are live TV Game Show nights where you can play Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, etc. for free and win silly prizes. This also starts at 8pm. These are super fun events to just drop by after a movie at Alamo.

So, funny thing . . . I had been wanting to write a review of Barfly for a few years. But, my…read morebrain kept having me entering "Bar Fly" (two words), and it could not be found on Yelp. So, with no check-ins, I never received a "write a review" reminder. One of those oddities of life I guess. This place slaps. I only learned that phrase in the last two years, so it still feels odd to say. For those unhip, unaware, or older than me folks, "Slap" is a slang verb meaning "to be excellent or amazing." I guess, this is the new amazeballs, which I actually once enjoyed using as a descriptor. Barfly (yes, as I type it, I keep hearing "Barf-Lee", which is less than appetizing), is great. This is the lounge/big bar/small stage/event area just to the left as you walk in to the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Sloans Lake. Which is my favorite place to see films. If you do not like Alamo Drafthouse, you are probably one of those terrible human beings who enjoy talking and texting during films. Which if you did not know, may be fine for your living room, but is trash behavior in a movie theatre. Feel free to fight me on this. Barfly has comedy. It has game show night. It hosts groups showing horror films. It has live music. It has trivia. It has drag queen bingo (hmmm, why is there no "drag queen trivia"?). It has a full bar with solid beer offerings. It has the entire Alamo theatre menu available. It has hard working staff members (Rae and Sam are extra awesome). It has varied seating (stools, chairs -- both high & low, leather armchairs and couches). It has big televisions. It . . . it . . . it . . . slaps.

We'll couldn't resist the warm, golden pretzel bites with their soft, pillowy center but the rich, slightly spicy queso combined with a great local brew while my wife enjoyed the espresso martini as a perfect bridge between a leisurely lunch and a busy evening ahead.. As my wife and friends each ventured into dishes such as the Chicken Tinga Tostada, the loaded chopped Sirloin Tacos, Tempura Cauliflower Tacos and the Ahi Tuna Bowl I couldn't help but eye thier reactions & seek out their input on the dishes (plus manage to score a few bites ) The patio itself did true to it's name sake - spacious, comfortable & energetic without feeling crowded. Groups gathered for drinks and food with friends and pets alike, and everyone seemed to be taking full advantage of a perfect Denver day and a fantastic place that's as much about the experience as it is the food

Our waitress was attentive and provided us with great service. The food we ordered was excellent. Ahi Tuna Salad $19.50 sesame seared ahi tuna, mixed greens, mango, roasted red peppers, pickled red onions, slivered almonds, toasted sesame ginger dressing. The dressing was definitely my favorite. Provided a good portion of tuna. Patio Burger $17.50 double patty, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion. We opted the pickles and special sauce. The fries were crispy and warm. Enjoy the burger Boneless Chicken Wings $9 during HH Mango Shrimp Ceviche $17 portion was small, the mango over overpowering, need more lime juice, onions, cucumbers and overall I thought it was overpriced for the item we received.

I fully realize that this bar was probably not created with me in mind. I enjoy wearing leather,…read morebut probably not as much as they do :-) However, it is also a very inclusive and ecclectic space. I've been there a couple times for a very unique comedy show that you really don't find anywhere else. I have found the staff to be very friendly. The beer to be nice and cold (and reasonably priced), and the patrons (both regular and new) of the place are a cool and fun group. Tracy, the bartender is outstanding.

At first... it felt like we wouldn't be accepted here, but we learned over time that... everyone is accepted, it just takes time for people to get to know you! The bar has spent money to update things, and the front area for sure is nice and welcoming, and the dance floor and lounge area out back are also nice! The red lights have added just the right glow. The bar owner and the staff have always been nice; super nice. The bar manager is a sweetheart. There have been a few patrons who... over the years have maybe not been the nicest, but the bar staff always handles it appropriately. They have signs about lewd behavior now posted around, and they come by to check out areas with regularity, as well as to grab your empty drink cups, etc etc etc -- a fun space to dance and just people watch; handsome furry men getting sweaty -- I can't think of anything better. :) It can be super packed busy... or not very. I usually check Google Maps before heading out just to see like... how busy it is. It sometimes takes a bit to get hopping, but once it does? It's busy busy. The front areas are very narrow is my only complaint sometimes, and I'm a small guy... so I know that some people are like... grrr at having to wait for a path to clear at times... but it never takes long. Drinks are reasonable. Clothes check is (usually) available. Various DJs come and spin. It's a good time... and everyone may just be as shy as you I've learned. Say hi! Most people enjoy being admired, just saying! ;) -- See you boys out there! :D

If you care about beer history, technique, and authenticity ~ Seedstock Brewery is non-negotiable…read more In a city flooded with trend-chasing hazies and pastry stouts, Seedstock quietly does something harder: they honor Czech and German brewing traditions with discipline and precision. The tap list reads like a Central European passport ~ German Pilsner, Baltic Porter, Roggen, Bohemian Dunkel ~ all brewed with restraint, balance, and intention. But what makes this place special isn't just the beer. It's Jerry greeting people like old friends. It's Cathy making sure you're comfortable. It's Adam brewing like he understands he's carrying legacy, not just recipes. The White Stout was the sleeper hit. Creamy body, roasty character, smooth finish ~ without the dark pour you expect. It's the kind of beer that makes you pause mid-sip and go, "Okay... they know what they're doing." The taproom feels warm and unpretentious. Industrial but inviting. You'll see regulars at the bar, flights lined up like a color wheel, and zero ego behind the counter. Seedstock doesn't scream for attention. It earns respect. If you appreciate craft beer rooted in tradition rather than trends, this is one of Denver's most underrated breweries. I'll absolutely be back ~ especially for that White Stout. Bonus I got be there during their really fun & energetic Bingo night
